341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Liquidity rating makes lotta sense on: November 26, 2019, 01:09:35 AM
There's still a ton of exchanges on that list near the top that likely manipulate their trading volume like MXC, Coinex and P2PB2B, and it's certainly possible in the future that exchanges could even start faking orderbook depth, though it's at least something new and perhaps harder for 'em to fake than just volume.

I also hope alt devs are considering more than just liquidity or volume as a deciding factor for which exchanges their coins and tokens are listed on; there's plenty of reputable altcoin exchanges out there that aren't listed on this list of exchanges by liquidity, and a number of the exchanges are somewhat questionable in their reputability too.
342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good trading volume doesn't mean a token is good on: November 21, 2019, 09:36:08 PM
Even the weighted volume and/or 'adjusted volume' you see on a lot of sites like Coinmarketcap or Coingecko isn't always correct, and there's really no way to know the true volume of any exchange nowadays because of all the different ways exchanges boost their volume. Some sites like Coingecko also provide an easy way to look at market depth to weed out some exchanges that obviously fake volume, but I suspect some exchanges also make their books look legit too.
343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your best investment in crypto since 2018 on: November 21, 2019, 08:54:05 PM
Bitcoin for sure. I did invest a bit of my money into altcoins especially near the end of 2018, but most of my returns have come from slowly adding to my Bitcoin stash through dollar cost averaging. I haven't invested in any ICO in quite a long time simply due to the lower overall quality of projects nowadays, and because current market conditions aren't exactly favorable for investment into alts and especially newer ones in my eyes, though I'm sure there are still the occasional few projects that pop up in price every now and then. Just not my cup of tea though.
344  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 3 Top Tips to Stay Safe While Margin Trading Crypto on: November 21, 2019, 08:51:43 PM
If you're trying to gauge sentiment through long-to-short estimators like Coinfarm for Bitmex, note that because of the way Bitmex contracts work, there is always one short for every long and vice versa, and with sites like Coinfarm, there's no indication of what sort of leverage each trade on the site was placed on or anything like that. It's also nearly impossible to gauge actual sentiment no matter what sort of tool you're using, and so I'd advise using technical analysis over pure sentiment-based analysis.

Another reason why it's not a good idea to use extremely high leverage is because an increasingly large percent of your trade goes towards maintenance margin, and this means you get liquidated even faster with 100x leverage and higher leverage. The effect does become less and less noticeable at lower leverage, however.
345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are your criteria to go back/sticking with one particular gambling house on: November 21, 2019, 12:12:52 AM
Fast support is a must for me. Most people usually do not run into problems on well-built sites, but it's great to be able to solve problems with your account balance or other parts of your account quickly and not have to wait long periods of time to get issues solved.

I do like quick withdrawals, but it's not much of a priority for me because I don't process withdrawals often, and I'd much rather have a secure system of withdrawals like what Bitmex does than a less secure one that is processed quickly, though I also like low withdrawal fees just as much as anyone else here. I also like a customizeable site with an optional dark mode as well. I'm not a huge fan of lighter or simply white themes at all, and I'd much rather prefer a darker color like navy or grey or even just a simple black background. Looks professional if done correctly, and a nice dark background with light colors for buttons and important sections of the site pops out at users too.

New games being added onto a gambling site sometimes keeps me coming back as well. I don't play very many games outside of crash and occasionally dice, but I do try new games every now and then too, and it helps to break up the monotony too.
346  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Reputation at stake will you stop gambling on: November 20, 2019, 10:54:00 PM
There's plenty of negative opinions out there on gambling as a whole, but most people know me to be very successful for my background, and yet know me to occasionally gamble at the same time. Just because you're a gambler does not mean you truly fit into the stereotype of not being able to manage your finances and you're broke, though I suppose if you're running for a position like councillor it might be a good idea to stop for a while because it's hard to change public opinions easily in a short amount of time, even though I do agree gamblers are unfairly looked down upon by many.

You could also make an argument of how simply being a gambler doesn't mean much either, without molding yourself to other peoples' expectancies. That's something I also strongly believe in. Be your version of successful and yourself, not what other people want you to be.
347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Real use cases that can't go wrong on: November 20, 2019, 10:46:10 PM
It's also a good idea to always keep in mind the use-case isn't the only thing that matters with a project either. There's been plenty of projects over the years where a good idea was present but various details in the execution were wrong and led to things never working out, or more commonly projects that just weren't original at all.

This particular use case the OP mentioned just does not make sense to me either; there are already ways to use existing crypto to buy property such as with Bitcoin or Ethereum, and those larger coins do the job perfectly well without any major disadvantages over a coin or token designed solely for the purpose of being used for real estate at the moment in my eyes.
348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Easiest Way to Make Money with Crypto? on: November 20, 2019, 09:33:38 PM
I've always found investing in crypto casinos on sites that support investing to be an easy but still risky way of making money with crypto; the returns aren't always great, and it's still possible a whale could strike a big win and your investment could take a haircut as a result or even be completely wiped out if you're using leverage on your investment, not to mention the site you're investing on could just run away with the funds you've deposited, but it's relatively consistent and you shouldn't have many problems investing on a more reputable site like Crypto-Games.
349  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: So traders, how much You lose? on: November 20, 2019, 09:22:03 PM
I'm generally in the green for trading, though I mostly lost money when I started trading simply because of a lack of knowledge and experience in trading, though I've managed to make that back and more over time as I was able to better understand the basics in trading and as I developed a more structured trading and risk management plan. Most of the profit I've made through cryptocurrency is still attributed to holding like many people here, though, as I was able to accumulate a large amount of my current holdings during 2016 and I still have most of that coin, though I've sold it little by little.

There's still days and even weeks where I lose money because that's just the nature of trading, but it's unlikely I'll ever start truly losing money because of my current trading and risk management plans.
350  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [GOOD NEWS] Time to switch from LocalBitcoins to LocalCryptos [NO KYC] on: November 19, 2019, 09:32:46 PM
Interesting. I don't think I've heard of either LocalEthereum before, which seems to be the predecessor of what's now LocalCryptos if I read this little announcement article correctly. Seems like most of the listings on the site are still Ethereum-related, and it does seem like there's relatively few sellers with high transaction amounts in places like the United States and just two at the moment in Canada, though I expect if the site's as good as the article seems to suggest it is, that number will likely grow. I've done a bit of searching on the reputation of LocalEthereum on these forums too, and it doesn't seem like there's any major problems besides people getting scammed due to the nature of the high-risk payment methods they used.

I like the general interface and layout of the site as well as it's similar to Paxful's, though I do prefer the option of a dark theme.
351  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you use betting tips? on: November 19, 2019, 09:17:42 PM
I've always found predicting the outcome of a matchup on my own to be much more engaging and interesting than taking someone else's opinions and molding my picks to theirs, though I have paid for a tipping service in the past and it also turned out pretty poorly. There's no reason why you can't become more experienced or even perhaps better than the person you're getting picks from with time, and you won't need to shell out $70 a month in the future if you go this route. There's a lot of other things you can do with that money.
352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Question] The First Digital Currency You Can Mine On Your Phone on: November 19, 2019, 09:07:53 PM
While I'd love to make money while my phone's not being used or something of that type, I usually go for a few hours daily without access to a charging port for my phone, and mining would probably kill my phone's battery percentage, and it's also critical that my phone always has adequate power, so a currency mineable on my phone isn't really something I'm interested in.

You're also very unlikely to make any significant amount of money from mining with a phone simply because there's so many mobile devices out there nowadays that are also likewise capable of mining, which lowers profitability if there is any at all. Mobile mining is mostly just a gimmick to get people to use a coin at the moment, and it's certainly true a coin might start rising in price purely from hype from mobile mining, though it's really not anything new or practical.
353  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you lured someone in Gambling? on: November 19, 2019, 09:03:18 PM
Nope. I don't like to pressure people into doing things very often, and in the few times that I've tried to make people gamble with me, I've always told those people about the risks and potential losses that can be associated with gambling thoroughly, because the last thing I want to do is make someone addicted to gambling. I'm sure there's plenty of people that have found FortuneJack through my posts, but many of my posts especially in this section also highlight the risks associated with gambling, so I don't find it to be particularly unethical or anything of that type.
354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you become a better or a worse person after you started gambling on: November 19, 2019, 02:30:02 AM
I really haven't changed much in either way to be completely honest. Most people that know me haven't observed much of a change in my general behavior or decisionmaking at all, though that's probably because I consider myself to be the type of person that gambles in moderation, and I wouldn't call myself exactly addicted to gambling either. I've turned a bit greedy every now and then purely from the money involved in gambling, but I typically don't gamble a large amount of money anyways and I control my losses aggressively, so that's not much of an issue for me nowadays.
355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Seeking answers can help on: November 19, 2019, 02:11:40 AM
A lot of questionable projects and campaigns also have red trust or some sort of trust feedback on the account posting the ANN of the project or officially representing whatever project you're looking at too, though it's also true that you're able to just visit the Scam Accusations section outright too.

Unfortunately, the search function on this forum's not the greatest partially due to how old the forum software is, so it might be a better idea to perform a search on a search engine like Google or whatever you use, while specifying the site bitcointalk.org (site:bitcointalk.org for Google), and then the name of the project you're looking at and the word scam with or without quotation marks so you're able to find posts and threads from this forum about a project you're looking at with the word scam inside (example: site:bitcointalk.org (Project Name) "scam").
356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATMs Worldwide Hit New Milestone, Surpassing 6,000 on: November 19, 2019, 02:06:44 AM
Nice and useful improvement.

But I really don't know what Bitcoin ATMs do. Can you sell Bitcoin and get cash for it? If it has such a property, it is truly magnificent.

I hope a few helpful people in the forum can give me some information about it.

Depends what your local Bitcoin ATMs support, but generally you're able to trade Bitcoin to cash and vice-versa with Bitcoin and crypto ATMs. Many of them now require verification (ID, etc) for any sort of transfer, or verification above some certain amount of fiat, though I've found most Bitcoin and crypto ATMs still allow you to transact without verification.

If you're looking for Bitcoin ATMs near you (some support alts too), CoinATMRadar (click for link) has a good map for that, which also shows whether or not the ATMs near you allow only buying or both buying and selling. Fees also vary by ATM, though I believe you're paying a premium over getting your fiat from an exchange in most cases. The majority of 'em are still located in North America with the second most being in Europe at the moment, though we're seeing more of these all over the map in general.
357  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Anyone think the fees are too high on Coinbase Pro? on: November 19, 2019, 02:00:20 AM
I love the exchange for how reputable and relatively simple but effective it is, but I do agree that the fees on Coinbase Pro are getting to be a bit high even though they're calling it a 'slight increase'. Seems like they're trying to reduce the number of people trading on the site as a whole now and reduce their userbase mostly to larger traders, though there are plenty of alternatives out there with lower fees that are still similarly reputable like Binance.us or Kraken for those in the Americas, which I imagine is a relatively large amount of the userbase of Coinbase Pro.

Pretty sure Binance.us users even get zero fees for thirty days after verification too, and their normal fee structure's still pretty decent too.
358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Social experiments in the world of gambling on: November 19, 2019, 01:55:32 AM
I'm willing to help and talk to people I know if they're down for any sort of reason including gambling, but I also agree that at some point some sort of professional help is appropriate, though venting or talking to others can be the remedy for smaller problems including medium-sized losses in gambling. I've never personally experienced large losses in gambling because I don't gamble a whole lot compared to many others in here, but I have know those who have, and sometimes the issue's something you can't really tackle yourself.
359  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is there any one who knows http://onebittrading.com on: November 18, 2019, 03:32:01 AM

Agreed, I'm just comparing sending payments as verification as compared to exchanges requiring KYC. The users or us still needs to see feedbacks found around the internet to see if the crypto exchange itself is indeed trustworthy for us to provide our KYCs. And you are right still our private information aside from our money is something they also value to have as this is something they can also sell to the wrong hands that's why we often see Facebook get in a lot of trouble when it comes to data privacy.

There's plenty of fake feedback on the Internet and even on this forum that's being made by shady exchanges to pass themselves off as real too, and there's really very little reason to use anything other than the major exchanges like Bitstamp, Coinbase Pro and Binance anyways; the fees on the sites are reasonable, they've been around for quite some time, and there's plenty of liquidity too. Just not worth it to risk sending your KYC information over especially to smaller sites when it's being sold on the dark web. The less places you submit KYC at, the better.
360  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Altcoins or Bitcoin? on: November 18, 2019, 12:47:38 AM
You might reap huge gains with altcoins, but many alts just don't ever take off and especially investing in newer alts can be much more risky than simply putting money into Bitcoin through a single buy or dollar cost averaging and holding the money over time. Crypto's risky overall, and it's very possible you could lose money even just holding Bitcoin, but Bitcoin's definitely the safest option at the moment and I would suggest investing most of what you've set aside for crypto investing into Bitcoin and then altcoins next if you really want to put money into alts.
