361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / BitGo, Coinbase Vaut or Paper Wallet for secure long term storage on: August 11, 2016, 06:06:07 PM
I think I've gotten to the point where I have enough bitcoin that I don't want to keep it all in mycelium anymore.

So, paper wallet created on air gapped computer seems to be the most secure. But it has downsides like hard to spend if needed, could be lost, could get destroyed (sure keep several copies).

Coinbase Vault means I have to trust coinbase since they keep the keys. Unless I use the "I keep keys" version and then it seems the same as BitGo to me. however, seems most convenient, I just need username/password/2FA device.

BitGo sounds great but I still have to trust them a bit right. Also, are they still secure? Didn't bitfinex supposedly use them and still go hacked, or what that because bitfinex just didn't keep their keys/password secure enough?

I guess there's also Trezor, but that cost money and I guess could become damaged.

Thoughts, recommendations?

I've had 1,000 NXT in my wallet for a few days now, but I'm still not forging. All my deposits have over 1,440 confirmations - what gives?  Thanks in advance for any help Smiley

Did you turn on forging?
363  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: iOS Bread Wallet on: July 15, 2016, 10:12:56 PM
No problem with Android Breadwallet here. You are using Marshmallow OS right?

Yes, I don't think it would install otherwise.
364  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: iOS Bread Wallet on: July 15, 2016, 09:07:48 PM
Is there a thread for the Android beta. I did a test send to android bread wallet and it doesn't show the transaction. Does it only show them after they have a confirm?
365  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: iOS Bread Wallet on: July 15, 2016, 09:07:10 PM
why doesn't my account balance with breadwallet fluctuate with the current btw market prices?

Your BTC balance doesn't change but your Fiat balance should.

I guess the price of Ardor will go up after 12 October when people can trade the Ardor Assets on the exchanges. People who missed the snapshotting need to buy them from others.

What is the starting or launching price for Ardor on 12th Oct..any info or rumors?

I heard it will be about 10 BTC per Ardor.
367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: July 14, 2016, 09:23:17 PM
just wondering why NXT price keep coming down, instead of boom up due buying for ardor

Perhaps people don't read. Since the snapshot is an average over 3 months they bought, saw snapshot, then sold no realizing they need to hold for the 3 months.

idk, just a guess.
368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XLM] Stellar - Decentralized trading platform on: July 11, 2016, 12:02:59 AM
So, yea I totally screwed this up.

First, I have all my BTC in a Mycilium and they have no way to sign. So, I used the seed to create a multibit wallet which allows signing.

Then, I saw no way to list the btc addresses with unspent outputs so I went into Mycilium and copy/pasted them all into OneNote.

Now, I did the first claim, the claim form says "ACCOUNT ID" so I assumed that meant public key, so I put in my pub key and it said not valid. Then, I see an account ID column in my trans list and use that, which works.

Now, you can only do 1 address at a time on the steallar site and have to re-log in each time. So for every address I copy/paste from one not to Multibit, sign message, then sign into stellar claim, put in "account id", btc address, signature.

Did that 12 times... sigh. Then logged into the account viewer and NOTHING.

Wait, that "account id" in the trans list (I only had 1 transaction) is the from account. I try my public key again and it gave me the correct number. So, sigh, I sent "all" those lumens to some exchange, polo I think. Of course, all is not alot.

I assume if I attempt again with the same BTC address is will balk?

Am I screwed out of my small bit of lumens?

dear everyone, im so confuse,
i known NXT from youtube video of Marc De Mesel, i wuld like to love NXT, if i understood what it is

1. could anyone enlighten me, what is the difference between NXT and etherium, also LISK
(NXT and LISK both using java, but all could easy into programming specially etherium)

2. english is not my native language, blockchain and coinbase is very easy to use, but NXT dashboard is confusing, i dont even know what all those feature for, and how to use it
i cant even decide how to accept NXT, also how to send the money both reveal/anonymous , i think people need dummy tutorial on how to use every feature, and please simplify things.. to many text and confusing code or icon makes my brain overheat

3. is it save to buy NXT now, was told there is going to be fork and potentially ruin the beauty of the cripto (even i dont know how to use it)

please teach me..
so i know what to tell to all my friends about NXT (i often use bitcoin,, A LOT, and cannot understand how to use NXT, and all its feature)

Perhaps you can tell us more specifically what you don't understand? Using NXT is very much like using Bitcoin. There are just many more transaction types other than just sending coins (tokens).
370  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: June 02, 2016, 08:27:17 PM
I think I might have found a small bug in the latest version of Mycellium, but I figured I'd run it by the forums first to see if others have had similar experiences.

Last weekend, I created a new Mycellium HD account and decided I wanted to create a backup of it right after creation. When I tried to do so, I was told that I needed a PIN on the account before I could back it up. Fair enough, I set a PIN and continued to try and back it up. However, when I tried to back it up after setting a PIN, I received a message stating that the PIN was recently changed and I'd need to wait two days (288 blocks) before I could back up the account.

Has anybody run into this before? It was a little frustrating to not be able to make a backup of my new account, and it might be worth looking into for future releases.

Strange.

You have your original HD account backed up right? I'm pretty sure all the HD accounts use the same seed.
371  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: May 13, 2016, 03:55:52 AM
I just have it set to require a PIN to send BTC. That seems plenty secure to me. Because otherwise I have to....

1. Lose the phone or have it stolen
2. Have the person bypass the phone lock before I remote wipe the phone.
3. Have the person actually know what Mycelium is
4. Have the person do a BTC spend and crack my 6 digit pin.

Yea, I'm not worried about needing a pin just to view my balance and transactions.
372  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: May 11, 2016, 06:07:02 PM
You have multiple "wallets" or multiple Accounts?

When you say "wallets" you mean, Myclileum wallets or different wallet apps?

I am strictly talking about the Mycelium HD wallet app. You can only have 1 on a device which stores 1 seed.

Mycelium, ACCOUNTS, add key (key + sign at the top), Advanced, Scan: offers to scan a bitcoin address, a private key, or an HD account.

I have not tested this, but it says that a thus imported HD account does not depend on the master seed, but is separate.

You can also import Trezor HD accounts or Ledger HD accounts. And you can generate a new random key, whatever that means.

Yea, I think if you do that you end up with a bunch of single key accounts, I guess you can use that in a pinch if you just want to sweep the the btc from the old HD wallet seed.

Generate new random key just creates a single Address public/private key pair I believe.
373  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: May 11, 2016, 04:58:12 PM
I suspected as much. That's a pisser but thanks for the heads up anyway.

Sure, I think you can import it (use the seed) into Electrum or Armory or one of those wallets though which do allow multiple HD "wallets" on a single PC.
374  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: May 11, 2016, 04:27:09 PM
One Seed = One Wallet = One Device

I have multiple wallets, so generally that is not true.

375  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: May 11, 2016, 04:22:02 PM
I want to import a seed from a dead phone onto my tablet which already has a mycelium wallet on there but can't seem to find a way to have two existing accounts running.

You can create an extra new one easily enough but there doesn't seem to be a way of adding an already existing one anywhere. Am I missing something obvious?

One Seed = One Wallet = One Device

So, you can't do this.
376  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: April 27, 2016, 04:03:23 PM
You shouldn't use the word "shares."  This is not an offering or issuance.  And it isn't a security.
What is it?  What are they selling?

Full disclosure:  I'm a longtime Mycelium fan.  I signed up for the pre-sale.  But only if I get some answers, will I send them my money.

Yes, as subsequent threads have popped up I'm having major difficulty wrapping my head around it. 1 BTC is pretty hefty. I'd stick enough in as a donation for all the good work they've done and then forget about it if smaller amounts are welcome.

My objection has nought to do with putative minimums.  Mycelium didn't ask for donations.
They're framing this as value.  What the heck is for sale?
That's a real question, and I'd like an answer.

5% of nondilutable Stock Appreciation Rights in the MYCELIUM WALLET Project, (“SARs”) which are issued in the form of colored coin tokens (“Mycelium Tokens”) potentially convertible into class B non-voting shares of Mycelium SIA.

Per Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stock_appreciation_right

is something given to employees.. not something sold to investors. It's also like Phantom Stock, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantom_stock which once again, isn't exactly what they are offering since Phantom Stock is usually given to employees.

No matter what they call it, this is an Equity offered for sale, and may get them in trouble in certain jurisdictions since they clearly say it isn't a registered sale.
377  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: April 27, 2016, 03:11:43 PM
I didn't see anywhere on the web page where it listed a minimum investment amount.
378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XLM] Stellar - Decentralized trading platform on: April 27, 2016, 03:10:31 PM
Seems like you've designed it so that stellar.org gets the bulk of the coins.

The calculation should be a percent of BTC that are used to claim Lumens is what should be used, not the percentage of the total BTC population. I expect less than 10% of BTC will be used to claim Lumen which means stellar.org will get 90% of the 3 billion.

Yeah let's complain about free stuff  Roll Eyes

You're welcome to consider it a complaint. What are forums for if not to discuss issues.
379  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: April 27, 2016, 03:07:50 PM
I think it might be the first crowd sale that's actually tempted me. I'm a long time user and their plans are compelling.

I feel the same way, thinking about how useful Mycelium has been to me the last couple of years, then would I not mind supporting/investing in the company.

However, I find it a problem that you do not know exactly how much your invest correspond to in shares.
The more others invest in the initial crowd sale, the less your share is worth.

Wouldn't it be more fair that you issue a fixed number of shares (or tokens) at an initial price per share and let the market decide the value of the shares?

It's actually announced that the minimum investment is 1 BTC and in correspondence you receive 1 token.

If you're interested, there's a 10% bonus for early contributors on their site.

But, that doesn't fix the percentage of the 5% that you get.

If 100 BTC is invested then 1 BTC gets you 1/100th of the 5% but if 10,000 BTC is invested then 1 BTC gets you 1/10,000 of the "shares".

Although, ostensibly each share is worth 1BTC the more shares the less the ROI will be.
