The BTCD dev team is hiring for the GUI wallet Smiley

I am no coder, but if anyone reading is interested:

https://coinality.com/jobs/create-modified-version-of-the-btcd-bitcoindark-qt-wallet-elance-job/

Job Description

We need a modified version of the BTCD (Bitcoindark) qt-wallet. My friend James is working on a technology called “Teleport” that allows anonymous transactions that leave no trace in the blockchain.

The things that the GUI needs to do is:
1. Establish connection with a privacyServer (just needs IP, and NXT acct password)
2. Manage Telepods (You need to have a changepod and some unitpods, so requesting a changepod from faucet, creating unitpods)
3. Transporter function to teleport to specific destination
4. Publish public addresses so other people can do number 3 themselves. (I want to support having BTCD, NXT and BTC public addresses)
5. Display NXT address that is linked to a BTCD address (I will make it so that BTCD address’es privatekey is NXT password, so the two addresses are linked)

EDIT: I just found this on Elance.com

I have the job ad on odesk, elance and freelancer.com now, no luck so far. When there are no applications tomorrow we'll have to look at other places too.

I am interested in possibly working on this for you.

Are you talking about modifying existing wallet code, or are you talking about a whole new web based wallet that sort of reverse engineers the current one? That said, I am also only available part time.

There is maybe 5 long term investment coins, and Crypti appears to be one of them.

I have my list, but what are your other 4, I'm curious?
1144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Crypti | XCR | Launch August | 100% POS | New Source | Trading has begun! on: August 11, 2014, 01:28:40 AM
Will the passphrase be case-sensitive?

Indeed, as it's used in a deterministic fashion to generate or open the priv/pub key pair.

So this is a multi-address Private/Public pairs wallet like Bitcoin-QT or is it a Brain wallet like NXT?
1145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitcoinDark (BTCD)--Sha-256/PoW-PoS hybrid/Bounty Opportunities on: August 10, 2014, 11:47:09 PM
I have made some market rate exchanges to make sharkfund0 (asset 3006420581923704757) a one stop purchase that will benefit from Teleport

The following numbers are not 100%, I am rounding, but they are pretty close. I wont bother with <10 BTC holdings, such as FIM, NAS, NTX, etc.

sharkfund0 major holdings:

BTCD 10% ~$240K
NXT 0.4% ~$150K
InstantDEX 10% ~$100K
NXTprivacy 20% ~$70K
JLH 10% ~$70K
coinomat(1) 20% ~$50K
XCP 0.5% ~$25K
BBR 10% ~$16K

~$721K / 1415 sharkfund0 assets = ~510 USD -> 14166 NXT
I dont expect to be making many changes to the portfolio for a while and I will announce any such changes. With the above figures anybody should be able to get a pretty good NAV calculation done. I will put some assets for sale and if they sell out, I will make some more available, but maybe with the portfolio composition public info, a reasonably efficient market will form?

I will make available NAV bids for those that need some liquidity if the free market isnt being efficient enough

James

P.S. Yes, sharkfund0 has 120,000 BTCD and is most likely one of the largest BTCD hodlers. It is like an open ended mutual fund and I think it is the NXT asset with the largest trading volume and a pretty widely held asset.

No XNF?

why on earth would I have XNF? fractional reserve with precious metals that might or might not be there? I didnt understand it when they launched it on ripple, I still dont understand it

Anyway, I wanted sharkfund0 to benefit as directly from Teleport's world domination, so of course lots of BTCD, InstantDEX and NXTprivacy, but also coinomat is going to do a lot of processing. XCP I couldnt figure out how to get it from the burn address to an exchange without doing their horrible all day install and I didnt have time to fiddle with that. BBR is best cryptonote at bargain 10:1 ratio against XMR, so it is nice thing to have. And JLH just to have a broadspectrum holding to smooth things out.

I think overall the mix is pretty good and should provide a reasonably balanced price action. It is up 40% since late May when I first issued it, but of course no promises of such crazy good gains moving forward. It is a quite big fund with ~1500 assets, so over 20 million NXT worth. It can be purchased in .0001 amounts so even 1.4 NXT can get some sharkfund0

James

P.S. nobody is surprised I have so much BTCD? Cost me 100+ BTC, actually closer to 200 BTC so this is a significant investment of my capital and not to mention my time. You can say I am FULLY motivated to make BTCD have as much value as possible. I wonder how many other coin devs have put so much into their coin? I was willing to put so much in because I trust the dev to deliver the tech he is talking about Smiley

Good point on XNF. I can't find any audits or anything.

Is there a NXT asset for BTCD so I can purchase some on the AE? I can't seem to find one. Shark fund is quite a bit above my current NXT balance level to even get a handful of shares.

Any update from Bryce yet?  Thanks!
Nope Sad Silent as a gravestone when it comes to details. But at least he and BK confirmed on Twitter the other day that everything was going fine, but they didn't want to give any timelines whatsoever.

I'll take a confirmation over total silence any day.  And it does take time to come up with a truly unique PoS scheme.  Should be good [i hope].  Very curious what they'll come up with, it should really help the price.

Cheers!

Even a public github project with daily commits would show progress to the world.

Excellent. I can't wait to update. You guys go first!

Any idea if the mgw is integrated into this? Or is it still an additional install step?

just testing a Nxt price widget at my blog, via coingecko: http://nxtcoin.blogspot.com/ it took me 30 seconds to implement, me approves Cheesy

Nice. You should display US$ too.

I've been using this converter quite a bit recently: https://www.cryptonator.com/converter

The AE is great, but converting everything to BTC then USD to figure out how much the assets cost is a bit taxing.

This is something www.secureae.com now does automatically.
You don't even need to do the intermediate step of buying Nxt anymore:

I don't see a USD amount there.

EDIT: It also doesn't seem to be working for me. I just get a spinning GIF "calculating conversion".

EDIT2: Strange, it seems to work for some assets but not for others.

Can someone please give information about the current and future development.

your best best is to read: blog.viacoin.org

and follow @btcdrak on twitter

I hate Twitter. Smiley
I can read the blog but a quick summary would be nice.

So? You can still go to his specific page and read his updates. Twitter is by definition summary information.

some have mentioned a large number of rejected mined blocks
I think system clock synchronization could be an issue
ntp is what I use, but I do not know how to sync system clock in windows
If anybody knows, please post instructions, thanks

Windows 7 by default should be synching to a time server:

Click on the clock in your system tray
This will bring up the calendar and time
Click Change date and time settings...
The Date and Time dialog will appear
Click on the Internet Time tab
Click Change settings
The Internet Time Settings dialog will appear.

1153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [VIA] ★ Viacoin ★ ~ the future of digital currency ~ ★ on: August 08, 2014, 08:09:29 PM
I setup a testnet faucet so you can get your hands on some testnet coins. You will need them soon. You need to run your wallet in testnet mode however.

On windows get a run window and type

Code:
"c:\program files\Viacoin\Viacoin-Qt.exe" -testnet

The testnet faucet can be found here: http://viacoin.coinlabs.org/testnetfaucet/

Apologies for my ignorance but what are testnet coins and why will i need them soon ?

im running the Viacoin-QT wallet on my mac but I can set up the testnet wallet on a pc, but i dont understand what they are.

Help please, community !

Testnet coins are just that, disposable, worthless coins - for testing purposes. The testnet functions just as the mainnet, but can be experimented on and with, without risks or loss.

Ok thanks, I have done the above and have 200 VIA in my testnet wallet on a windows machine. do i hold them, send them straight back, accumulate daily and wait or do something else ?!

Sorry to be so dumb, but VIA is the first coin I've had any involvement with so this is all new to me. I assume the testnet is to help test whatever is coming next so am happy to contribute in any way i can, as long as i know what it is i am supposed to be doing to help !

I am assuming that a new feature is going to be ready for testing soon, and it will only be running on the testnet initially. So, having a wallet running on testnet with some testnet coin will be needed to run/test this whatever it is.

But, normally, you don't use or need test net or test coin.
1154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: August 08, 2014, 05:16:00 PM
So, what's different about HitBTC? Someone mentioned trading NXT "contracts" there. Are they trading futures and options at that exchange? Or is it just a standard BTC/NXT trading pair?

more like i'm confused over the xcr symbol if it's the right market or not, can't see which poll won and the ann should prob change to (XCR).

also ipos usually have a set price this seems like a market to me hence why i'm asking for confirmation on that it really is the coin I want to buy.

Yes, XCR is the correct coin symbol to trade if you want to trade Crypti.

The IPO is completed and pre-mainnet coins/tokens were distributed on BTER for open trading.

Once mainnet is up and running (Aug 10) you will be able to withdraw the XCR from BTER.

re the BTCD wallet for windows, my OS (Windows 7) doesn't recognise the rar. file extension. Any recommendations re best/safest program to d/load in order to open the file. Thanks

7-Zip is the best you will find.
1157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [NAUT] Nautiluscoin - First Coin w/Stabilization Fund - Digishield on: August 08, 2014, 04:46:47 PM
http://lightninghash.com/ has been kind enough to add a port for NAUT to their pool. They are a multiport pool that auto-switches to the most profitable altcoin. Direct NAUT port is:  stratum+tcp://lightninghash.com:4003

Note: this is an auto-switching Multiport Pool, NOT a MultiPort Auto-switching Payout in your altcoin of choice pool. If you want NAUT out of this pool, you must point your miner to the NAUT port.

I'm still in the process of working out details with other MP pools that will have the capability to payout in NAUT. Will provide info when it comes available to me. In the meantime please start pointing your miners to stratum+tcp://lightninghash.com:4003 and solve some blocks!!

What can you explain that?

So are you mining alt coins and getting paid out in NAUT. Or are you just directly mining NAUT like any regular NAUT pool?
1158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: August 07, 2014, 11:48:22 PM
Does NXT have voting and name exchange? Qora is already ahead of NXT (by asset/asset exchange & dividends).

Imagine Qora with a great GUI.

boom! TOP 1 in market cap - bitcoin is doomed (with the right marketing of course)

Voting is in NXT core, but no UI for it since no one seems to care about it.

NXT Alias exchange is in the beta version soon to release as is AE dividend payments/tracking/etc as well as the Digital Goods Store, afaik.

It's not a race btw. Also, I was just answering a question, not implying one coin was superior to the other.

The worst part of Qora now is the perceived value. Sure, features are important but so is uptake and liquidity/activity. The coin that has the most ticks on it's feature sheet doesn't win either.

1159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: August 07, 2014, 10:16:29 PM
I don't know if NXT AE supports asset/asset exchange directly. If not then Qora is the first to implement that (among other things).

That is true. The NXT AE exchange you buy/sell always with NXT.

What other things?
1160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: August 07, 2014, 10:12:38 PM
Nice job with the assets idea. Is it the first coin to support this ?

I think "colored coins" idea has been around for a while, even wrt bitcoin. I think NXT was the first to implement it, and a large amount of NXT transactions are AE transactions.

I could be wrong. There is coloredcoins.org but I have no idea who implemented this idea first.
