Firstly, if you are only here on BitcoinTalk because of the existence of signature campaigns then you're here for the wrong reason. A forum is meant to be a corner for meaningful discussion, the sharing of ideas and innovations, and a friendly environment to grow and learn, not somewhere that a horde of users force out quotas of meaningless drivel. I understand the fact that monetary rewards for discussing is appealing, but the fact that there is this much complaint about a system that is designed to limit this reward against people who spam solely for signature campaigns says something about the condition of the forum. |

QuestionAuthority, nice touch with your offer. I see some excellent posts across the forum that are helpful, informative and these are people who genuinely contribute to the forum. I also see far far more junk spewed out by people who haven't a clue what they are talking about and clearly post just to drive up their numbers. The merit system is potentially a good idea but I can now see active members contributing to the forum in a productive manner but simply not moving up the levels in a way that could be argued they deserve.
That’s true, I see more junk posts than good ones. I’m finding it difficult to locate posts to give merit to. Same here. I am even looking through other members threads similar to yours and finding a few good posts but nowhere the amount I hoped for. It's almost a full time job without the pay. I wonder if this is an indicator of just how bad the general crap post quality is? |

Technically, you can rank up to junior member without any requirement about sMerits for ranking up but the next one which called " Member" gonna needs 10 sMerits from others, if you want to make it come true , you have to post the high-quality posts which could brings you back some sMerit for ranking up.

The Pharmacist really abusing the negative trust.The trust rating should only be used for members that are suspected in fraud. My opinion is that such actions should be forbidden. We see an attempt of seizure of power on the forum.

I like the idea as well. Not sure if this merit system will work or cause more issues but will give it a chance. I may also take up QA's quest so others will have a chance to contribute. |

Improving post quality to reduce their workload might be a better solution. But the suggested methods seem to be ignored.
Well I'm asking for more staff being able to recover accounts rather than the issue with post quality. The fact that administrators (Cyrus in this case) allocate so little time to account recovery, makes it obvious that they don't add any sort of priority to it, and I can definitely understand that. For that reason we can't expect theymos to promote staff to a higher rank just because of this. People should take care of their accounts properly, and if they don't do so, regardless how annoying it is, they have to patiently wait for an admin to act. At this point there are far more important things for staff members to focus on than to recover accounts.
A lot of the account which have been hacked were due to the compromise that the server suffered a few years ago. So I would of thought that it would be top priority to actually sort the compromised/lost accounts out. I'm not blaming theymos for the hack obviously I'm just frustrated that I've lost access and have been contacting cyrus for around a month. I'm not sure if my account has been compromised or if I've simply lost the password as I can't remember when I used it last. It hasn't been posted on in a while now so I don't think the hacker is actively using it. I think hilariousandco has now blocked access to it too which will prevent any scamming etc. While this is true, if you have not used the account for 2+ years, why is it now so important? ( Yes, we all know the reason why) There were multiple warnings when the database occurred to immediately change your log in credentials. Accounts owners have to take some blame as well. All that being said, Something needs to be done or notifications that the accounts will not be returned issues. Myself and others help where we can but it does take a lot of time to look into. Many try to pull fast ones with shoddy "proof" of ownership while others don't even bother to look for posted addresses. I have suggested to a few Mods that I would be willing to help out but have not received any answer. |
