401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] HAM - HamRadioCoin - SHA 256 - Crypto on the radio! Official Thread on: February 10, 2016, 02:49:14 PM
A NEW FIRST for HAM and the Cryptocurrency community. Crypto in Outer space. Via https://outernet.is/

Big Thanks to the Outernet project for their help making Crypto history  Grin

A single HAM private key QR code in .png image format is being broadcast from Outer Space via Outernet, the file was recently uplinked by the teleport and bounced off of six different satellites. You can see all of the delivered files on the online version of the Librarian, the Outernet user interface:

https://librarian.outernet.is/en/files/Community%20Uploads/2016_02_09

The HAM private key has 100 HAM available to the first person to find import and move the HAM to their own private wallet.

The dev has vanished, I am shocked! No one would have ever thought that a barely competent coin-cloner would have just up and left, not informing the community in a timely manner!

Here I thought that the roadmap would have lead to this coin being serious BTC competition by now.

 /s for those unaware, clueless, or still getting crypto news from reddit.
403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reddit Censors Bitcoin 2.0 on: February 10, 2016, 12:44:16 PM
You can always count on these forums to bring the crazies out of the woodwork.

Solid thread. 4/5 Comedy Gold Stars.

It's like when anyone goes near any of the Bitcoin or cryptocurrency subreddits these days they instantly become an oppressed and censored person. Is this like some digital to physical virus that is spreading?

Also OP has a tumblr blog it seems so that should tell you all you need to know right there.  Grin

And yes, mprep has it right. Thanks for the xkcd link.

KeepKey: compatible with altcoin wallets (so the manufacturer claims) Product listing on Amazon

Has anyone here used on of these? I may try to obtain one to see how well they work. I'm just not too impressed with ledger as it currently stands.
I couldn't find any reliable info about that. There is code in their git that references Dogecoin, Namecoin and a few others, but that is actually code from Trezor they're using. Isn't Trezor supposed to be compatible with most Altcoins as long as an Electrum-wallet exists? Never tried it, so I'm asking. I'd also be interested in a UNO compatible hardware wallet...

I finally got around to looking at their github, learminer is correct: https://github.com/keepkey/python-keepkey  they use a modified version of trezor's software so it wouldn't be too far a stretch to make it work with the existing UNO electrum wallet.

I am still trying to avoid the SPV wallet route, so back to the lab.
406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Fee's with Bitcoind.. on: February 09, 2016, 11:20:02 PM
The maximum amount being sent ever in these transactions will be 0.1, I presumed the amount above is perfectly reasonable for that amount? Is there anyway I can set the bitcoin daemon to send fees automatically based on the size?

Not possible, at least with core: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=644189.0

Learn more about how fees are calculated here. http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/1195/how-to-calculate-transaction-size-before-sending

The maths behind it are quite simple really once you get the hang of it.

408  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: AutoView - Automate TradingView using a Free Chrome Extension on: February 09, 2016, 08:28:00 PM
I did not check it out yet but i really like the thought behind and when i have time i will check it out.

The only thing i'm not so sure about yet is that i would have to enter my api into the extension most probably. And i not really know if it's safe, was the code reviewed by someone already?

The code is public for everyone to see. When we first launched, a few people in the TV chats looked it over and all gave it the go ahead.
If you go to your extensions page and enable developer mode, you'll get access to a "background page" for the extension. On this page you can see all communication between the extension and the exchanges.

Chrome is pretty good about security, you need to give the extension permission to communicate with 3rd party sites, keeping you in control.

If there is anyone, or you know of anyone that could do another review of the code and post their analysis here, that'd be great.

I checked this extension for not-so-nice code and can report that it comes out clean. Nice job Op!

I take security very seriously and audit a lot of code on here, especially extensions like this. It's always good when people make nice things with no ulterior motives.

409  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Is www.cloudmining.website the most stable cloud mining ponzi ? on: February 09, 2016, 06:02:09 PM
where are the proofs that they pay for 1 year+ ?
Please check their payment history as well as CM monitor inclusion date.

because the site is online for 1 year, dosent mean its all good, could be a trap.
No, I have verified that they are not only online, but also paying over a year. But, that does not definitely mean that they'll keep paying forever, if they are a ponzi. Hence I'm trying to gauge public opinion before investing.
Can you post or provide these proofs? Just taking the word of a brand-new account isn't something that is likely to happen here.
Definitely. Here is their payment history starting from November 10, 2014 - http://www.cloudmining.website/payments.php

Thanks for posting, they do indeed have blockchain payment proof, but does anyone here remember pbmining?  Grin

I also noticed not a single picture of mining hardware is to be found anywhere on site.
Not sure what you are talking about. I'm suspecting that they are a successful ponzi and you are asking for mining equipments!

I suggest stopping to think then. Lack of proof of any mining resources should remove all doubt that this venture is indeed a ponzi, as legit operators would most likely be glad to showcase their equipment.

411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you have physical Bitcoins? on: February 09, 2016, 02:01:01 PM
I've never researched into physical bitcoins purely because I've had no need to & couldn't be bothered.

Couldn't you get your private key & bitcoin address engraved on the coin though, effectively then it would obviously have value as you could send bitcoins to it/them.
They don't need to do that to have value. You need to consider two things: 1. They are collectibles; 2. They are usually made out of pure silver/gold (sometimes graded). They will always have value which is most likely going to increase over time. There are some coins that have an address and private key in them, albeit they are art pieces (Kialara; you kind of need to break it to get to the private key). There are also coins such as the Silver Wallet, that come with a coin slab in which you can easily add a new address (with QR code) and a private key.

I'd like to mention that provenance is important to some collectors as well. Having a pgp chain of custody document can increase sell value, especially if it is a "one owner" coin.

After seeing the uploaded pictures i must commended you for a job well done but 2 btc is not meant for everybody.

If you can't afford 2 BTC to purchase exchange software, then you probably shouldn't be running an exchange. Properly audited exchange software would be well worth the price.

Are you hosting your faucet on Amazon? If not I have a little script you can run on your server that blocks AWS instances from connecting to your site. Lots of bot owners use Amazon AWS to circumvent ip restrictions.

am interested in this script

my faucet is not on amazon aws or any cloud service

solvemedia seems to already did a good job though to at least prevent the bots

PM me and I'll paste you a copy. You will need GPG to verify my signature unless you just blindly run scripts. Tongue

415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you have physical Bitcoins? on: February 09, 2016, 12:09:18 PM
I've just bought a physical Bitcoin. Of course it doesn't have any monetary value, but it still looks great.
If it is real, it has value and will probably have much more in the future (rare collectibles). Also if it is made out of fine silver/gold it will always have some value.

Do you have any physical Bitcoins?
I have the original Kialara, 2 silver wallet coins and have ordered more. All are amazing. If you're really interested in coins, then you should check out Mitchell's collection with 120 items.

Mitchell has an awesome collection, a good place to go and salivate.

I have a few of bigtimespaghetti's coins - the silver goxxed coins and an Unobtanium bar. Also have a few novelty bitcoins.

While these aren't exactly coins, I love having these in my collection: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=852488.0 (Bitcoin certificates).

Cmmon people, it s an obvious troll account, 4 posts only. Why do you let these trolls spoil this forum?

More of the "I'll make an alt and start a topic so me and my signature campaign buddies can spam it up" topic variety it appears. I just withdrew from Polo yesterday with zero issues.
417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Fee's with Bitcoind.. on: February 09, 2016, 12:01:08 PM
Nevermind, I have changed it to;

Code:
listen=1
server=1
daemon=1
txindex=1
rpcuser=username*
rpcpassword=password*
rpcport=8332
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
paytxfee=0.0001

Seems to be working fine now.

Meaning you have a flat 0.0001BTC fee for any transaction you'll be doing?
You might run into some trouble doing this.

I'll agree, depending on whether or not you are just making dust transactions. I have seen this on reddit so many times where people complain about tx not going through when they didn't bother to include a high enough fee or any at all.

EDIT: you may save yourself a few satoshi by sending all your payments in one batch and paying a single tx fee. Something to consider.

419  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Share your best vanity address!! on: February 09, 2016, 11:50:37 AM
I still don't understand the importance behind vanity addresses. They make you more vibrant and noticeable in terms of staying anonymous. I wouldn't occupy a vanity address not to say that I'm looking down on others that occupy it. I'm just not interested in them myself, and am obligated to an opinion.

If you are looking down on us, why even bother posting here? Take your anonymity is important spam and go away. Yes, reusing address is discouraged, but whether or not you are anonymous has next to nothing to do with it.

Gotta make them YoBit posts with nonsense so they can earn 11 cents for toilet paper in Pakistan. If not interested then why bother to post? Go somewhere where you are interested.

P.S. Please poo in loo. Thanx.
420  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRYPTSY stopping withdraw locking accounts without notifying users! Class Action on: February 09, 2016, 12:10:19 AM

Those funds are not Cryptsy's so it is not needed to report as income. They don't get a write off, only on the portion that would be theirs. But we know that theirs used to be ours, but laundered now with no way to stop it and not reporting it makes them complicit. They didn't contact the exchanges to stop any of the funds coming in either as Thunderjet detailed. This alone makes them look even more guilty. Contacting exchanges works even if they don't file a SAR or tell anyone about any hack, just ask exchanges to monitor activity on funds from the addresses and if they hit the exchange then seize them until further notification what to do. Pretty simple task for any law enforcement or fraud investigator. Proactive writing Cease and Desist letters but no Proactive Hunting or Alerting Exchanges.

In any case, i feel the IRS has substantial reason and probable cause to audit Cryptsy's and all the cryptsy crews 2014/2015 taxes at the very least,
and even in Canada where applicable. Since customers may never see a dime of their cryptsy assets why not open all the worm cans and let the feds sort it all out?

Oh BTW
If you believe you’ve been victimized by a scam involving the U.S. Mail, you can get help by contacting your nearest Postal Inspection Service office in one of three ways:
