Hi Uno!

Does Uno have any digital assets , like a hi-res logo and things ? I'm opening up a crypto only t-shirt ( of course it will accept UNO ) but just need to know where to find assets. Feel free to let me know what you would like to see also.  Store should be opening shortly. Thanks all!  Grin

Crypto tshirts is a good merchant idea, so count me in for a UNO one!

Persistent Awesomeness as Unofficial-Developer Awards

(came up in conversation)

Siameze: 10 Uno (sent)

Pnoch: 10 Uno (sent)

Cryptapus: 10 Uno (PM me address, please)

from grateful community members Ian Ridgwell, IMZ, and Sabretooth

I am honoured guys. My little silver UNO bar is much heavier this morning. Grin
I will update ratings for you all as acknowledgement of your contribution.

I don't know. If I was doing any kind of development I'd stick with Linux. The windows environment fights against you in that scenario (IMHO). I miss being a real geek who did cool things with computers. Now I make a living removing viri from clients computers and reassuring them it wasn't their fault.
I feel your pain, and I am glad I no longer work in the corporate environs. I feel pretty lucky tbh that I can choose my clients, etc. Nary a Windows behemoth in sight.

I did manage to get UNO (and by extension prototanium) running on Gentoo yesterday. It's like trading in an aging Fiat for a Ferrari, hands down the best build for me to date.

Yeah to each his own. Linux market share is gaining traction though. SteamOS is going to do a lot for it.

I am working with virtual images and running bitcoin inside them atm, may try and make a windows UNO build for shits-and-giigles. Cheesy

I'm referring to application support and client base.

The list of things Linux can't do is significant including offering me the hands on I need to be able to work with my clients and their systems.

The reason linux isn't better than windows is because it isn't windows.

I have tried linux many times and it is always the same experience with 'more windows stuff' added to it. It is also the same reason I'm not a mac person. It has nothing to do with technical superiority, it is all about application, applications and clients.

To each his own of course. Roll-your-own clients and applications are just part of the territory.
1145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update to 0.10 Wallet - Merge Mine w/BTC! on: August 13, 2015, 08:45:08 AM
Tee hee . . . 'laggards running windows'? I think that's me.

And me. Linux still doesn't offer the platform depth I need.

It is trying, and in some circumstances linux is hands down superior but it just doesn't bridge the gap and I can't rely on cloud based apps with the internet as piss poor as it is in this country.

I never could get the hang of Gimp and I still consider games and gaming to be my #1 recreational time killer.

Could you expound a bit on the statement "doesn't offer the platform depth I need." ? I agree cloud-based services are 99% garbage, you can be your own damned cloud.

1146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 13.8.15 on: August 12, 2015, 05:35:57 PM
Well in that vain of thought 1 kilogram for Chadd to just show up and say 'hi'.

Pretty generous for someone who has done nothing since coming here but produce vaporware.

but a Good UX
not really the biggest deal
crystal ball says that will be website driven (read: exchanges/online vaults) -for the general USER types
but having a solid wallet platform for average geek remains a constant chore

I can see that but I have yet to have problems running unobtaniumd. As a service it is solid and has many features yet to be tapped hidden right inside the good old bitcoin protocol.

agree $1M coins need to be 'USER' friendly
agree things like this are the bailiwick of CC the community programmer
whereas HC would be lead dev (non officially)

---------
here's a new exchange development

https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Exchange?market=PPC_UNO

so we got that going for us

JFC on a stick, I forgot I had a cryptopia account. Cheesy

I finally caught up on threads, busy week here.

Despite Gekkos delivery, he does have a valid point. I understand HC is really busy, but what of the community programmer CaptChadd? Is he not able to fix these things, and if not why is he still listed as a contributer to the project?

People expect things that work, and here they do for the most part.
1149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update to 0.10 Wallet - Merge Mine w/BTC! on: August 11, 2015, 06:03:54 PM
Even if you make a .conf?

addnode and it will find the network

Or am I missing something?

*Krypto Superdog beat me to the punch but yeah we are suggesting the same.

**Does the 'yellow' version MAC wallet have the same issue?

currently pnoch's is the ONLY mac version.  I had to download the .conf file and put it in the folder.

Downloaded pnoch's version again.  Still no block source.

I may be picky and precious here, but...why doesn't this just work?  I have never, since my first dogecoin wallet had to try to go under the hood and fix a wallet on a Mac to make it work.  I am not a computer person.  I'm a USER.

So now, is being a coder a pre-requisite for owning UNO?  This seems just downright broken and neglected to me.

I do not know how to download and install a config, where to get one, or where to put it or modify it with nodes.  And I don't WANT TO.   In fact, the sentence I just wrote means nothing to me.  I am just aping what you guys wrote.

Can somebody fix this?  Or is UNO for elite hackers only now?

Maybe THIS (lack of quality experience) is why the price is in free fall?

i agree that this is a major problem, but that fact of the matter is, you're going to have to be patient.  we are VERY early adopters in cryptocurrency so end-user support isn't up to snuff yet.  i never had to do this either with bitcoin, dogecoin, or any other coin i used.  but then again, we are worth much less, have a smaller network, and no full-time dev.

anyway, i want to help you get this working.  first, you need to know that your "Library" folder on OSX is hidden from dummies like you so you don't fuck it up.  follow the instructions here to show the library folder:  http://osxdaily.com/2014/12/16/show-user-library-folder-os-x-yosemite/

once you've completed this easy step-by-step, open a finder window and navigate to the following folder:

start by clicking your user folder on the left (should be named after you, so i'll just call it "gekko"

Gekko -->  Library  -->  Application Support -->  Unobtanium

okay, so now you're looking at the Unobtanium folder, there should be two folders in there ("blocks" and "chainstate") and 5 files (including your precious "wallet.dat"     Now head on over to here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=527500.msg11422814#msg11422814 and download the "Unobtanium.conf" file that FallingKnife has posted.  once you've downloaded that, put in your "Unobtanium folder that we just navigated you to in finder.

restart Unobtanium-QT and you should be good to go.  if its still not working, delete the unobtanium.conf file and try downloading the .zip version that FK has there, unzip it, put it in the "unobtanium" folder, restart, see if it is working.

let me know how it goes for ya

Top kek, you made for a good laugh this afternoon.

But in all seriousness, if we need a place to host things like this, I'll see about getting something set up.
1150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ★CoinAwesome ★Decentralized Social Platform ★Wallet ★Community ★EXCHANGE on: August 10, 2015, 02:40:33 PM

IMPORTANT QUESTION FOR ALL
We realized that after CoinAwesome is trading on an exchange it will be difficult to start the crowd-sale again as it was before. The reason is that when we do a crowd-sale in the same manner like before this might crash the price on the exchange and upset everybody. We are searching for ideas how to release the rest of the coins to the public. One idea was to sell all CoinAwesome AWE which are ment for sales for 1 bitcoin satoshi (0.00000001 BTC) for each AWE. This would be cheaper than the current exchange price, but would guarantee not to crash the CoinAwesome AWE price further down. Guys, what is your opinion on this?

Sounds like a fair way to do it, will allow new users to get it at a cut-rate. Won't stop micro-dumpers, but I could care less about the exchange price, since I am following this project for the tech involved.

@ Jelks contact me if you want to sell a few antminer usb sticks. I have a project going for which those are still useful.

Also, why tie down a good PC for miners? Pogos and miracasts can be had all day for $20 and make excellent mining controllers. I have precompiled arm binaries for cgminer and gridseed dualminers on my website.

Hi Dev

How to import Chrome private keys to Windows QT.Wallet ?

Open the debug console and type: importprivkey <your key number> should do the trick. Wallet will rescan after you do this.

Error:

Invalid private key (code -5)

Strange, works for me and I even mined my own address/keys. But I'm not using native Windows (running under WINE).

1154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution- Updated on: August 07, 2015, 11:49:15 AM
Bytecoin (BCN) - First cryptonote, lots of fancy new features, but with 80+% premine, seems shady as shit. (Also, such a huge concentration of wealth can apparently break the anonymity afforded by ring signatures.)

Outed for running a scam crypto "news" site and using it to shill their premine

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3g1rpx/mad_bitcoins_on_twitter_the_truth_behind/

This seems to a pretty common tactic, if a "coin creator" can't bribe or otherwise get cryptonews sources to publish PR about them, they simply create a "news" site to perpetuate the scam. reddcoin did it with coinbrief, I am sure there are many more examples others can list.

100 Proto to Davids123. (I'm getting tight-fisted! Was 200 just yesterday!)

IMZ Mark
Yes Thank you IMZ !  Grin

Are you a developer Davids123? UNO lacks competent developers besides the founder at this point.

This is standard for clients on any platform. QT will create the data directory, but not the .conf file that belongs there.

Woo hoo! First ever signed message on Prototanium?

To find a 'middle ground,' I remain committed to giving away 50% of any Proto I buy. At present, I have 665 available -- which is what the signed message says.

IMZ Mark

@ IMZ Per our discussion I will use any donated prototanium to practice our initiative of embedding message hashes on blockchain. A similar service is found here: http://deedbot.org/

It will be accesible via IRC and also will be simplicity itself, 2 commands: 1 to register your gpg key, another to submit a document. Easy peasey.

re: Proto give-away ads

See innovation!

One of the biggest humps I personly had to get up and over when wandering into the land of crypto is how the damn thing works.  But with bitcoins worth $25-$5 I was such paranoid to do any play'n that might loss/delete coins.

If I had a 'play' coin then such E Z R to learn about how 2 crypto.

This is a brilliant.  When UNO is running @ $179/kg, do you think you can get mom & pop to dare click send?
Nope.  Mom & pop are going to be terrified of tech plus relatively large sums of money.

Now give them 5/kg of proto running @ penny/kg ... BATA BING!
Now mom & pop are playing and learning and saying ... "Hey this is E Z R than email"

I just don't see that at all.  Simply use a small quantity of UNO.

If you "really" feel you need to use another coin, then there are literally dozens of altcoins out there which are worth fractions of a penny for a few thousand (or million) of them.

Using the UNO testnet as a practice forum seems a distortion of its intended purpose.

I mentioned this a few posts back, anyone that needs training wheels can always derp around with dogecoin. If you screw up and lose some, so what?

Eventually you graduate and learn to use the full orchestra that sha cryptography provides. Some will never acheive the balance and stay with the lesser coins for the rest of their time in cryptocurrency. Takes all kinds I guess.

@ Proto: I am busting my hump to understand and do what is right for the Uno community. (I like my idea of a training-coin, which is what I want to get some for at present. Put up two Proto give-away ads in two towns already.)

B.N.'s Post 9 here -- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1140354.0 -- which says that monetary value is a distant-second consideration, is what I'm working off at this second.

If consensus says, 'No value!,' I will give away all the Proto I hold. (Got hundreds to give away if anyone wants any.)

@ Sloopy! Good to see you. Taa for the update: yay, Bigtimespaghetti! Yay, Coaex Metals!

@ Project Point Oh One: wa ha ha, go, me! am throwing pennies at this one. Watch this space.

m

@IMZ I'll make a post in the otc thread tomorrow, I have just been collecting drips from the faucet until I decide if the testnet is usable or if I'd be better off on another testnet.
