I have yet to meet an 80 year old who wants to live another 24 years in pain and demented misery. Life extension < Life quality
I have. One of my neighbors is 84 and he told me he plans to live to 100-110. He lived an active life, does yoga every day, reads books about life extension, keeps his mind active. But then again some people are just luckier than others, and I don't even believe in free will. Damn right, there is no free will. Will is always biased. One of the most important topics in psycho-philosophy (is that correct as a translation?). Aging... Something called life, god, destiny (...) gave you a racecar for your being on this planet. You have to learn how to drive, fuel and service it, maneuver besides all the other lifecars around you. There will be accidents, wear, corrosion of varying degrees. depending on environment and how it's taken care of generally, but some day it may will break beyond repair, even if it's not the drivers fault, before it's going to the great junkyard of all beings. Luck plays a role for sure, too. Destiny seems to throw dices, endlessly. When you look at it from one side, a human life is almost wortless among the billions of others (scarcity, anyone?), when looked at from the other side (ambiguosly), every life is indefinitely precious. It more or less all revolves around balancing between these two views. I could go on about religion and praying vs. consciousness and introspection - or some more of the most fucked up human mix ups - but since it's already enough OT, i'll stop it. However, i don't care how long my life will last, i'm just asking for a fast and painless death. I've gone through so many ups and downs, i was part of events almost nobody else had the balls or chance to experience in his/her boring life. The fucking zillions of details most other people were unable to see, hear, taste and feel... Numerous adventures, some secrets i can never share with anyone, weird kinds of magic, the great people i shared all this with... I could go on. As soon as i stopped asking for anything, awesome experiences and things began to come to me. I just did let them come. Hard to explain, like a deep trust that everything is right in it's place. I can only speak for myself, however. I had to learn how to change my miserable psychological imprints based on my feelings of inferiority, envyness, faintness first, which was the hard part, through the valleys of depression and anxiety, which were trying to signal to me that i should stop wanting to be somebody else who i never was. To sum it up: I would be pretty stupid to ask for more (longevity), ...or not? Following my history, this would be a guaranteed way how to not get it. Have a healthy life, brothers OT
Anyone into sports a bit ?? And anyone doing CrossFit?
Not crossfit but calisthenics! 18 months ago I was not able to do a single push up. Now I do stuff like handstand, L sit, hanging leg raises, weighted dips, pistol squats, pull ups, push ups. I love the progressions, being able to do more reps or to learn new skills is very satisfying. Also, as a side effect, I'm shredded the first time in my life. With almost 50 Do you like crossfit? I do love CrossFit (never did calisthenics… but see lot of videos… impressive sport) Doing CrossFit for three years I guess and indeed the progression is very satisfying Doing lot of strikt pull ups which I sucked in before… learned the butterfly pull ups and got to sets of 34-40 Toes to bar, recently muscle ups etc But most of all my cardio is going very good… I do not do crossfit, but i do some callistenics at some extent. Minimal, but effective enough to keep myself lean and feel (relatively) strong. Let it be 15 minutes a day, as i said, very effective and not really harming the joints like running etc. Most of my fitness is based on nutrition and food, i guess, which i had to change. Let me eat a plate of pasta to see me fighting not to fall asleep afterwards. What i never used to do was stretching, which was a dumb mistake. Stretch after every workout, it will maintain your muscle power but save you from a lot of pain and problems with posture through stiffness. Cardio... One of my dad's few good friends dropped dead in his 60's after a heart attack, two days (!) after being cardio-checked, when the doc was attesting him "great cardiac health". I'd say: Always rest until fully recovered if you are sick, before getting active again. Take Lumbrokinase for a month, every five to ten years. This clears arteries of fibrin clots, the main reason for heart failures and strokes. Maybe unrelated, but as a rule of thumb: A man's health is as good as his erection

Also OT
For the brothers into movies/series etc
I do like
Monarch
Thanks. Just finished "One Piece" - found it very creative and also funny. Much into Astrophotography lately, tuned my Winter telescope a bit, providing Autofocus. The last of three clear nights in series, but the moon is setting just before midnight, unfortunately. However, i will show some stacked results in a few days here again

Finally, Antisthenes dies with this post, so you liars might rejoice again.
...
Since you're leaving us, I want to clarify this, just for the record: you mentioned in a previous post, that you took my "broken AI bot spewing incoherent crap" as referring to you. It wasn't, just like OOM's post wasn't. You didn't have to lock yourself out in order to stop posting. Locking yourself out as a way to resist the urge to post is a sign of weakness. "Can't" is weakness, "won't" is strength. RIP, Antisthenes, if you are, indeed, dead. ∞ Thanks bro, for clarifying. Good that this fruitless part of WO history has come to an end. Some things just end well by letting go. @eXPHorizon, do as advised by Antisthenes: Don't waste any more of your precious time here with us.

Well, Ledger has shit the bed yet again https://twitter.com/Ledger/status/1735370531224834430Yet another reason not to dabble in shitcoins but man it has been an embarrassing year for the Ledger team. Couple all that with their software being packed with analytics tracking and they're a big NO for me now #metoo Ledger is featured in the bad news department nearly every year now. How about just sticking to being a wallet? All this extra shit just increases the attack surface.
This was my desire when i first purchased a Ledger Nano. Shortly after some of my customer data was leaked. I found the swap thing convenient, however, i don't use it. ATM i am thinking that hammering wallet seedwords into steel plates is the most secure while convenient to use method.

Last time i reply to you: Your "secret plan" of the great takeover got leaked almost a decade ago. This went not unnoticed. You can continue, but you are being watched. You will be crushed, you will be sanctioned, you and your children will be even poorer than ever. You will not have the power to start over again. You (and almost every nation in this world) will have to unleash from their corrupt leaders, get rid of systemic corruption and start building states that work and globally interoperate in everybody's favor in the face ot ethical values based on consensus, instead of letting them abuse and exploit their own people for the sake of the few. This, or slow extinction. There is no way around, and Bitcoin is one tool to build a better future. You have to see the big picture. BTW.: "Best exchange", "best miner"? Reads like the words of a 12 year old.

Hm, i must have been (very) wrong to believe that evolution and human development is a one way road The church failed, Napoleon failed, the Germans failed, Bin Laden failed, the Russians are about to fail, Asia will fail too. Now go to school, or mommy will kick your ass when she finds out what shit you are writing on the internet, using daddy's smartphone he gave you for playing Candy Crush. I'm astonished how willingly you are feeding data to the CIA. Cleverness can't be bought, they say... EDIT: Learn history. Who did ever win a war of aggression? Generally, we're human by nature, we want peace and love. Well, most of us. Some are effectively... primates. Like you and your likes. History will take care of that as well. Will you fuck off now and continue posting your misanthropic shit on X? #sadfuck

Me: Watching a pair of floppy titties bouncing up and down... thoughtless... yet I am smiling. Considering the weight of these two, they are pretty good in shape, though. Honestly, who in here doesn't like a nice pair of boobs? Bottoms don't bounce as good while looking as sexy. (more of an inverse relationship we have here...)

[...] I feel it's just a chance for you guys to buy more who missed the 15K, 20K, 25K, 30K and waited for more dip.
[...]
It is time to get beyond MtGox for good, it gets a little old and annoying after 10+ years. So please forgive our sins holding coins on a playing cards exchange, and let's get it out of the way for a clean run to new ATH's. Seconded. We survived FTX, so Gox should be not much of an issue, in down terms. Also, only idiots who get paid out in Bitcoin would sell, i guess there were far less of them in the old times...

WHAT IS THIS?!
A DIP FOR ANTS???!!
At 10% and still going I’d call it a legitimate correction on its way to possibly being a major correction. Given the timing of it, I would say that this has perhaps been caused by the mtgox email that went out around the time of the dip. It appears that things are in place to begin distributing the gox coins and I think people are getting ahead of it. However the gox distribution will manipulate the price, Bitcoin's future is more or less mainly dependent on 1) time and 2) fundamentals. I may quote: "Anything else is just noise". EDIT: Seems like the Email is noise as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/mtgoxinsolvency/comments/18fngkx/new_email_mtgoxnotice_concerning_launch_of/EDIT2: In a separate document sent to creditors today, Kobayashi said that on Nov. 17, the rehabilitation trustee received the redemption of 7 billion yen ($46.9 million) from the trust assets to fund the repayment. The remaining amount of the trust assets following such redemption was 8.8 billion yen, according to the notice.
Repayments in cash? But not for all of the creditors, right? I think i remember some survey about how creditors want their refunds, either $BTC or $USD. So, does that mean that the trustee/trust already sold almost half of the gox coins? And the rest is going to creditor wallets "soon, too"? I never have been so much into that mtGox refunding story, so please forgive if i sound clueless

BTW, nice clothes are ALWAYS better than cheap one's. I bought an expensive leather jacket a few decades ago, and is as good many years later.
Also more durable/sustainable, when properly handled. In the end, quality wear often induces less cost, over time. EDIT: I just remembered me buying a 10-pack of cheap t-shirts on amazon, two years ago. One wash later and they were like half sized. I gave em to my kids, not a single one lasted longer than a few washes, mainly because of the poor stitching.

Anyone here who made it with Bitcoin but still keeps living like a average person? Thank god I made it, thanks to Bitcoin. But I keep staying in cheap hotels, try to eat good food but without spending unnecessary money etc. For example, I eat a good steak but I don’t choose a steak house but prefer a supermarket where you buy the meat from the butcher and then they cook it for you in the built in restaurant.. That costs me 20 bucks vs 60-80 bucks in the steak house for the same meat. I’m not sure if this is a good or a bad habit. I hate to spent money on things that do not give me more benefits than the cheaper version. A luxury hotel is nice but at the end you just need it for the night sleep. I’m outside all day exploring. Some people spent 500 bucks a night for a hotel. I try to safe 5€ per night by finding the same hotel over google. Usually I pay 40-50€ per night for a hotel
Another example, I live in the center of Bangkok and stay in a luxury apartment in Asok. The room is only 30 sqm and it costs me 700 euros a month. I could have a 60 sqm apartment in the same building but would cost me 1400 Euros. I just can’t justify spending that much money every month because it’s money I won’t ever see again. So, I live on a budget, but still in a luxury place. Trying to find the middle way when it comes to spending money.
Would be interesting to hear different opinions on this topic. Some people spent it on yachts and lambos. I try to live as cheap (but good) as possible.
If you want (or buy) is what you (really) need, i don't see much of a failure. Just because it's money, doesn't mean it has to be spent for things you don't need just because you can. Maybe the lambo and yacht people are just bored with their lives and try to compensate for it through luxury goods and lifestyles. Don't get me wrong, i don't have a problem how others spend their wealth, as long as they don't want to put themselves on top of others, feel more important or valuable through showing their richness. In the end, most of all stuff we do or buy, we expect to make us feel better, feel alive. When you think twice, the little things and relations are what serve this purpose the best, imo. There are whole industries telling us every day what makes us feel good or valuable, but again, if you already know how to get there, you don't need all these things they want to seduce us to throw our money at. Sorry for my awkward semantics, i had an exhausting day today. I think most of you understand, though.

Okay I'm gonna bite because it's holiday season so I'll give you a reply. Bro, the sooner you break away from believing in a magic sky fairy to solve all your problems, the sooner you will become a little smarter. I'm not holding my breath though. Most folks who break out of your stage of believing in nonsense don't do it from hearing it from other folks trying to tell them they are not thinking rationally. That just makes them double down. No, they do it on there own volition, studying the evidence etc. I can only plant the seed. Good luck bro. I wish you the best growing older and wiser. Merry Xmas i finally bit too, but i was successful in resisting the first couple of times he trolled by swinging his "Christianity club" On the other hand, when ones doen't call out on lies, one probably accepts them, so i had to put things into perspective.
|
|
|
Another fun fact :
Christianity also revolitionized the Music and made the world more bearable and fun.
Happy Holidays Beautiful Christians !
Well, then i'm probably missing the fun?! As an ex-member of the Christian Church, but as a man who is acting on Christian values, more than less, i can only say that the Christian Church is not acting very Christian, probably almost never did. I believe Jesus Christ would turn in his grave if he knew how things turned out regarding "Christianity". I wonder if Jesus Christ, if still alive, would be a Bitcoiner...

haha...that said...That $622 node/small miner is cool. 1tb disk seems enough for now (maybe for 4-5 years longer), but a question to those who run a node: is pruning to reduce the size OK to do once you downloaded the whole chain? Thinking of starting running a node, at least from time to time.
i vote full non pruning node for several reasons: the most time consuming thing is the initial blockchain download.. that could take weeks/months depending on your connection. why throw away data you may want later (for re scanning wallets etc) you can run your own block explorer against your full node you can run other wallets against your full node you can rescan multiple wallet.dats you have with your full node storage is cheap That is the one thing that wasn't taken care of in the Bitcoin conception. Size of the blockchain. Sure, storage is cheap (at the time), but if the BC gets to sizes that are no more manageable conveniently at the private level, and the initial blockchain download becomes so effin big that it takes months on a standard connection (let's say, for now... 50mbps or so), less and less private full nodes will be added to the network, while the mining companies continue growing. In the end, a few big miners survive. I am thinking about slow, indirect movements towards decentralization. I agree with you in the theoric part, but i dont know why you are thinking in that way, because as far as we see we are experiencing a revolution in speeds on connections and also in storage, 10 years ago we have only HDD for normal people and now we have such smalls and super fasters SDD, connections the same, ten or 15 years ago it was a miracle if 3G was connected at slow speed, now we have 5G and we can stream from whatever place we want. So i think until the speed of the evolution in this things is faster than the weight of the blockchain is not even a real problem. I agree, but look ahead under the fact that Moore's Law is broken. Even if storage/cent and speed grows in a linear way, the blockchain will grow faster. So the performace/(blockchain)byte ratio will likely go down. It's not hard to sync blocks, but as i said, the percentage of private miners will decrease. On the mobile data issue: What i personally experienced was 3G getting slower with more people using it, now it's the same with 4G. 5G is not even available in my area yet, but i remember myself switching back to 3G mode to get faster and more reliable connections, ccompared to 4G, because of too many customers using the latter. Bad weather is still a factor for poor transfer rates, especially over longer ranges/low transceiver areal density. In comparison, big mining farms likely have multiple fiberglass connections, one or two hops away from backbone routers, acres of servers... In the long run, big eats small, because mining is a business which is based on our economic rules. I don't want to put Bitcoin down, but the aspect of growth (EDIT: and/or scaling) was not given enough attention, imho. A chronic problem in the IT industry i was in, balls deep.

Hi folks, i have a good reason to sort of revive my PHP programming again. There are not many things i didn't do with PHP yet, but i need help with charting. It's not hard to create the data, but i ceased to find a library that easily lets me display a simple chart like this: The line is representing non-zero values, positive and negative, but the differnce to zero should be colored (red for negative diff, green for positive). Any hints or tips? Thanks EDIT: For now, it looks like the Highcharts JS API will do. Using the "area" type of Graph, setting css properties .highcharts-point and .highcharts-graph.highcharts-negative to the desired colors does the trick.

Once it reaches 50K, all the grandmas and taxi drivers fomo in, then one sells. Then when it dumps back to 40K, one buys those coins back. Not rocket science.
Aye, captain. In my poor ass case, this would make the majority of my corn subject to tax (if i'd actually sell and buy back in 100%). Most of my corn is tax-free, because bought before 2021, when the tax law changed. As soon as i sell it, it's untaxabe fiat money, but when i buy in again with that money, all corn i'd get hold of would be taxable when i sell it. In the face of 25% capital gain tax, this trade wouldn't work in my favor. Judging by the numbers, it's best for me to straight hodl, because IF i sell in the future at the (theoretically) highest price, only a fraction of the money would be subject to capital gain taxation. So i better choose wisely when to sell. That said, the projected ETF pump/dump seems not to be the best event for me to trade. The current situation of law kind of sucks in this manner, i can only hope for subsequent occasions to up my BTC holdings through trading back and forth, and preceding changes in taxation policies that would work in a better way for trading BTC. I can trade back&forth between Cryptocurrencies (and stablecoins) withour being taxed, but the crux here is that once i make such a trade, the amount of BTC (or Crypto) i'd sell for fiat money would make it taxable. So this option would be great, but the law considers sold/traded coins as the "oldest coins" of my holdings, making them taxable when selling for money as well. It's a shit law, and it's clearly aimed at milking traders, but it goes a little bit to far. But there's no reason to change the taxation policy, because why would the government want to pass on the extra money? EDIT: While thoughtfully writing this post, Bitcoin went up several hundred US-bucks. Niiiice EDIT2: Aaand back again @Chartbuddy: Let's make a deal like last time. I go to sleep and you push it over $45k? Thanks in advance! #GN
