401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Crown update 14.3.2017 on: March 15, 2017, 07:50:30 AM
Crown update 14.3.2017

We would like to post a little update so the community knows what is currently going on.

The dev team is has currently started to work on slimming the Crown code and make Trons become the most important aspect of the Crown project as was outlined in the papers. This work is led by urban_idler, chaositec and infernoman. In Dash (as it is now) the capacity of masternodes is really there to mix coins for darksend.  The Crown Platform looks at the compute capacity available on the trons as the "server layer" of a network.  So the idea would ultimately be to be able to do a lot of what one would do with a server, but to be able to do this with what is currently around 400 GB+ of RAM on trons and probably around roughly 8 TB of storage... the trons provide compute capacity to the network.

This compute capacity is currently "paid for" by block rewards -- but one can imagine using it to offer services which users would pay for and having CRW integrated as the payment method.  The Trons themselves could add capacity to the network if there were demand for it.  So the long term idea is for the Trons to be a sort of "elastic" server layer running open source apps or securing accounts/login and payment for proprietary apps running off network... as well as being the server's for CRW blockchain and providing transaction confirmation services to the blockchain. A series of detailed papers on our architecture will be released in the coming weeks.

Crown Hub

Progress is being made on a complex information site for Tron operators, where it will be possible to check Tron payments, follow and comment Tron voting proposals as well as see the actual profitability of Trons among other functions. This work is being done by luccd88 and his partners.

Tron Monitoring App

Our app dev calnaughtonjnr is finishing with the enhanced V2 version of the mobile Throne monitor for Android and iOS.

The Community is Growing

We have a new community / team member who will be spreading the word on Crown in South East Asia - specifically Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Burma.

The Dev team together with bigmo is working to add Crown to the Trezor device.

We are excited to see the community grow substantially after our Bittrex listing and are confident we are making important steps toward a larger scale adoption of Crown.

In other recent news:

Crown was added to the Blockfolio Android/iOS app.  http://blockfolio.com/

The Tron income spreadsheet has been updated to have live price updates and a sandbox area for price forecasting.  Current figures show an ROI of just under 60% per annum. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gq-EHNGOQJizETEFgECQfx6zR2dUu2X6j3KHwMnbqyg/edit?usp=sharing

The Crown Android wallet is now available on Google Play

DOUBLE EDIT: Holy shit, they've dropped the price to $10 for a perpetual license for self hosting (max 10 users). Jums to a 4 figure sum for more than 10 users though.

Looks like a good deal - you found it here, right?

thats still a lotta cash ...

any opensource projects out there that do a similar thing guys? ...

Bugzilla is a good one.  It's a bit agricultural in design but very powerful.  I hosted one for a few months last year before we decided that a kanban board and github was enough for us.

There are one of three outcomes as I see it:

1) HLM launches and nothing changes with SPR, HLM's development outpaces SPR.

2) HLM launches, georgem ramps up SPR development in response, begins releasing production software publicly.

3) HLM fails miserably, whether not launching or for whatever technical blunder/failure, SPR continues.

Previous to this announcement there has been a single state as an SPR investor for a very long time now:

1) Keep waiting for the boy-who-cried-stay-tuned to meet any of the expectations that he himself repeatedly set.

All I can say is, as an investor and long-term holder of SPR, I'm overjoyed that something is happening. I've seen coins101 around long enough to know it's not all smoke and mirrors. So, as a lowly cockroach investor I couldn't be happier - options, opportunity, optimism - what a breath of fresh air. SPR investors might once again be able to be appreciated because of HLM, whether it fails or thrives. There is not a single person who has been holding this whole time that will come out worse off if HLM launches. The only guy who hates this idea is the same guy who refers to investors as cockroaches, who ignores substantial donations by long-time supporters and writes them off as enemies of the project, who dodges questions if he doesn't deem you worthy enough of a response because he doesn't know your username. (Apparently decentralizing my online identity is not covered under "everything"  Cheesy)

I don't expect georgem to miraculously ramp up SPR development because, frankly, I don't think he has the back-end development chops and has too much pride to seek assistance or cooperation in realizing his vision. I hope HLM launches, I expect it to quickly outpace SPR in tangible development, and I hope georgem makes a boatload of money from coins101's work putting it all together. Then I can finally stop checking in on what has seemingly become nothing more than a lonely hobbyist's need for attention.

Be fair, if you wanted to see progress that much you could pay Georgem $100 per month for access to his Slack channel.  Shocked

Quote
Access to Slack
$100 or more per month ∙ 0 patrons
If you are willing to donate 100$ you will get access to the patreon-only Slack so that we can better discuss development and future of everything Spreadcoin-related.

Does anybody know a bit about the Patreon web site and how it works?

Georgem currently has 4 Patrons who are donating between $20 and $100 per month according to his page.

How can the total amount of donations be $724 per month if there are only 4 patrons paying less than $100 each?

I'm just in the process of building a Sandstorm server for another project.  We're finding Wekan/Kanban really useful. Let me know if Helium wants one.

Sounds like a good idea. Documentation will be something that needs to be addressed at some point, but I was thinking of Jira for that and a bunch of other stuff.

I'll take a look at the apps you can run on a Sandstorm server.

I am a big Jira fan but it isn't open source any more.  I really like the idea of self hosting and owning your own data.

EDIT: Unless somehow Helium will qualify for one of their restricted open source licenses.

DOUBLE EDIT: Holy shit, they've dropped the price to $10 for a perpetual license for self hosting (max 10 users). Jums to a 4 figure sum for more than 10 users though.

OK thank you for your support Smiley. Is it important for me, that the thrones works in the Raspberry. I want to buy the Raspberry and I will try set the trone Smiley.

M.

You don't NEED a Raspberry Pi to host a throne if thats what you mean. You could rent a VPS and host that way but i'd recommend Raspberry Pi.

Well, a Pi3 costs the same as 10 months of vps hosting with OVH which includes 100Mbps bandwidth and will always be on.

I'd personally recommend the VPS route but a Pi will certainly do the job.

Lucd88 has just told me that a couple of people are not receiving sign up emails from mm.crownlab.eu.

It is proving quite difficult for me to troubleshoot because I can't actually see people's email addresses due to the security configuration I have used.

Please bare with me, I should get it fixed today.

I think it affects only a very small minority of users.  Emails are flowing ok for most people.

I tried to signup with my store email @bitcointech.store and never received a confirmation email. It seems the system can deal only with some domains. Now I tried Gmail account and received the confirmation straight away.

Thanks for this.  Now I'm aware, I'll fix it.

Just stepping through SPF, Sender ID, DKIM, and DMARC configs.  Should stop the messages being flagged as spam.

Kudos to certain email providers for totally blocking the messages before getting to the local spam filter.

Hey guys, great job !!! I follow this project from the early beginning, when there existed only in the minds of those who set it up Smiley. I'm happy and I see the future of the CROWN very positively.
I would like to set up the throne and would like to use "Raspberry Pi 3", but I have no experience with that. Do you use for thrones the Raspberry?

Thanks Smiley

Hi Maleda,

I'd be very happy to help you but it might be two or three days before I have time to do so.  Hopefully somebody else will be able to help you before then.

We should be able to release a draft of the service node white paper over the weekend.

Just waiting for a security certificate to be issued for the website.

Want to have a look at the whitepaper Smiley how many members in your team?

Why no answer? Huh

Well, I don't know. It looks to me like we have between 10-20 ready to help to do certain things. But we need to scale up and down at different points. For example, I know a very well regarded software house that will likely want to help when we start some aspects of project atom. They have about 150 software devs in their company, but we'll only need a small group and again we can scale up and down as we need.

Did you read the OP? You should Google Agile development.

buy 27000crw for 0.50btc

same. This is undoubtedly my favorite crypto project, not entirely due to profitably through passive income but the underlying philosophies outlined in the crown papers resonate heavily with my core beliefs.

Looking at Dash which hit a high of over $70 today, with a masternode price-point of 70k, has anyone from the core team reached out to node40? It seems like they have the infrastructure in place for scalability, but due to cost protectiveness and the looming presence of evolution which will effectively allow anyone the ability to enter into a trustless shared node, it seems likely their ability to attract new clients will not be anywhere near proportionate to dash's increase in market cap. If node40 were to add crw to their platform it would certainly bring a ton of exposure to this project and the people taking notice would likely have a fair amount of money to burn.

Node40 have been active participants in our Slack (now Matter most). There have been discussions around hosting CRW. Let's hope they decide to go ahead with hosting Trons for us. Whether they will or not is obviously a business decision for them. Fingers crossed.

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to tweet or email them.
412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: March 11, 2017, 07:09:33 AM
Another node, could you PM me and let me know who was encouraging you to dump your SPR for CRW?  I don't have a problem with that but I'd like to know who it was. That's not something we have discussed as a team. Indeed, about 1/3rd of crw supporters hold SPR too I think.

Also, CRW did have plans for PoBN but abandoned them last autumn because we know another project is doing it and we couldn't find a way to do it perfectly.

I don't know if Helium will be a success but I support it because Coins101 has a track record of delivering what he says, when he says he'll do it.
413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: March 10, 2017, 05:28:05 PM
Nice price activity. SPR is going places.

Time for another hardware purchase I guess.  Grin

I put 10k SPR on 6100 Satoshis.

I finally want to invest in a Pascal Architecture GPU, an Nvidia GTX 10XX (not sure which model yet),
and also upgrade PSU etc...

I really don't think you should be trying to claim any credit for the ATH. the market is showing support for a direction we should have gone down a long time ago. We've seen the price depressed for so long it's truly been depressing. but we are now seeing a good price move AND it's not because of you.

But I'm glad you've been able to benefit from the price rise. Imagine how much we would have all benefited if you had helped the project do well, and I don't just mean financially benefited. we've had lots of new miners, new faces, increased optimism. I'm sure that would have also translated into lots more patreons.

The interesting thing will be what happens when the HLM swap happens.  Will SPR keep up with the price of Helium?
414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: March 10, 2017, 03:58:33 PM
I apologise for being incorrect.

Ok, apology accepted, but... I am not even sure what the "accusation" is?

Well, there wasn't really an accusation.

I just observed, incorrectly, that some coins were missing from your balance where you claimed they were all in that address.

I did say at the time that you could have sold them, which is of course completely fine.  They're your coins.  As it happened, I was incorrect, and did not spot the 7 step link between my donation and your current wallet.

415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: March 10, 2017, 03:22:48 PM
Even though georgem says nobody cares about an apology, I like to apologise when I am wrong.

*most* of the coins that I donated Georgem made it to the Shutup wallet.  I didn't see this originally because it was done in 7 transactions from an address that I did not know about (or at least had not seen since 2015).

I apologise for being incorrect.

EDIT:  Although none of my other donations to Georgem are in that list of transactions.  I'll go back to my old SPR wallets and see if I can shed light on this.
416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: March 10, 2017, 03:17:20 PM
Probably why you split your SPR holdings into smaller quantities and addresses.

To be fair, I did the same when I had a large wallet for privacy reasons.

Are you kidding me, I clearly remember you recommending to me that I do that splitting, lol...

And I was all like: "oh, is that what I am supposed to do now... ok, if you say so...."

In the end my plan was to split those 100k SPR into 4 paperwallets, it had nothing to do with "privacy reasons".

Seriously, I need someone to take a look at where those 100k originated from.
Shouldn't transparency work both ways?

I remember that conversation clearly too.

Is it only 4 wallets? Thought it was more than that.  Sorry, its taking me quite a while to work through this.

You see, I have no problem with transparency, that's why I recently put all my SPR into one single address in the first place,
so that people can get a clean overview over the SPR holdings of their dev.

Are you going to stand by that?

If I'm wrong, I will be the first to admit it.

For the sake of clarity, at least 100,000 of the coins that I donated to Georgem never made it to this address.

I'm not suggesting that he is not being honest, he could have sold those coins long ago of course.
