George, I have another question about the current proposed "auction" model for service nodes.

If each service node will be running the service(s) chosen by the owner of that node, how can the service node network guarantee quality of service for a particular service?

For example, if there were 800 service nodes in the spread and only 50 of those nodes provided a particular service, what could we do to make sure that 25 of those nodes wouldn't be dropped by the spread thus affecting quality of service.  This is a particularly pertinent question because if there will eventually be a variety of services on offer, each service will probably provide different income to the service node operator thus affecting the affordability of running a node providing that service.

Is it as simple as saying that the model decides which services are viable to operate?

Every servicenode will be encouraged to run every service that exists. In parallel on the same machine.

Or else it will receive negative score points for every service that is missing.

So in your example you must explain why 750 of your 800 service nodes decided to not run that particular service.

This is something that should not happen.

I was thinking about local laws preventing a service node operator from choosing to operate a particular service.  I like the concept of all snodes providing all services though.

I'm contributing 5k SPR to the Bitcoin Core development as a bounty.

I'll let CHAOSiTECH confirm how that should be shared.

I know the work involved will be significant, so 5k is more of a token gesture by comparison to the effort that is involved.

I will add 5,000SPR to the bounty for Bitcoin Core development.  As Coins101 said, it will require a significant amount of specialist work to achieve.

Total Bitcoin Core Development Bounty:  10K SPR

Ok guys so it turns out every time I sell my coins, the price jumps up.
I sold at 12k and was hoping to get in at 10k but you can see what happened.
I'm just going to give up on trading. I'm not going to buy spreadcoins anymore, I'll just keep my 400 I have in my wallet on my PC and keep collecting coins from bounties.
Hopefully the price goes down to 0.00003000 again and then I'll buy.

There's a new address on the rich list showing 40001SPR.  Quite an aggressive buying spree.

I filled my bags a month or so ago driving the price up quite a lot for short periods.

People seem keen to hold so it is difdicult to accumulate without quick price jumps.  It will be a low volume coin for a while too.

Don't lose heart.  The bounties will be plentiful (loads of work to be done!) and no doubt the price will fall again after last night's activity.  Whether it settles above or below 10k I cannot say.

You don't get it, do you?   Embarrassed

The coin was a crap, buggy one at launch. Now, after more than a year of hard work is valuable.

Wanna do a relauch? Do it, is open source!! Just clone it, call it "obitcoin" and that's it! You have your own coin. With Masternodes, InstantX and all the stuff.

What I see every day is greed and desperate people from other coins, trying to destroy what they think is better.

Just a little advice from an old man:

Just live and let live others. And do something positive with your time.  Wink

Crave is based largely on SDC and Dash code...maybe the Dash haters should go and play with Crave instead of focussing all of this jealousy. Cheesy

meh, I don't like the centralising Masternodes either ;-)

But hey, nice of you to admit the launch was buggy and thus lead to a de facto instamine... I don't care what the intention was (bad or good), the result was an instamine, nice of you to admit that.

best regards

I am not aware of anybody within the Darkcoin/Dash community (including Evan) who has ever denied the instamine happened.  There is even a section in the Dash wiki about it.

Good lord.. Updated my old client to the latest one and I'm getting like 1 connection. Anyone have a config file with a node list they can share?

All but one of the old full nodes are dead!

The next QT will have at least 8 stable full nodes in it.

In the meantime, addnode=52.17.253.8 if you want to use my node.  My node has 40+ connections at the moment and has good bandwidth.

Masternodes (Dash) and service nodes (SPR) are fully decentralised anyway, whatever services they are providing.

ummm. No they're not. And given human nature, there's no way anyone should want to put any form of "control" in the hands of a few. That goes completely against what the crypto currency thing was originally about. Not to mention the potential legal issues that could come to those running those sorts of nodes if governments decide they're performing some sort of money laundering or get classified as MTSs. It could end up being completely disastrous to create that sort of system and really shouldn't be considered at all when there are alternatives that avoid those risks.

I think Georgem and Coins101 are best placed to respond to your opinion on decentralisation however it is important to point out that SPR is not currently planning on providing financial services with its service node network.

...
darksend would need the masternodes, which is not activated, neither is darksend

I'm pretty sure darksend is in there somewhere, or could be.

ServiceNodes could run darksend.

nobody is arguing over not implementing it at some time :-)

first i think we need to get service nodes up and running, and get spreadcoin up on core, then we can begin adding whatever we all need and see as beneficial... its not like we are restricting by basing it on one or the other, it just helps making the progress clean, besides, its better to focus on one task at a time, that makes things cleaner

The main theme behind Spreadcoin: "Decentralize Everything"...

So any service we include should try to stay close to this principle, and strive to decentralize something that is now centralized (or needs help to get more decentralized ---> why we want to help bitcoin)

I would hope that with the "decentralize everything" philosophy, that you guys will seriously consider NOT using any sort of masternode system but instead implementing something else like the cryptonote ring signatures or perhaps have a look at what shadowcash is doing.

We are not planning on using masternodes (we call them service nodes) to perform anon transaction functionality so what the anon coins are doing at the moment is largely irrelevant to us.

This project is about providing other services via a two tier network, other than private transactions.

Masternodes (Dash) and service nodes (SPR) are fully decentralised anyway, whatever services they are providing.

Sockpuppet account not only fudder but racist too.

Really nice  Kiss

racist? Just because comical Ali here (the guy who was explaining there were no Americans in Iraq when they were practically shooting him in the back) has a brownish colour I am racist? Nice arguments, yet again...

And FUD??? Djeezes dude, accept the graph and thus the facts, there obviously was an insta/pre/whatevermine... Ah well, why even bother, go ahead and buy/mine the damn coin...

I'm just surprised he didn't accuse you of being Smooth. The exchange of 757 coins as proof that the coin was fairly redistributed is a nice touch. He had to have pulled at least 9-Gs with that spin. Maybe he can get a job as a Fast and Furious stuntman after dash implodes.  Roll Eyes

Dash is a high risk investment like any altcoin.  However, if it implodes, it won't be because of the launch difficulties.
1315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Darkcoin aka DASH - The biggest ongoing SCAM in crypto on: May 08, 2015, 08:24:06 AM
Even though I no longer own any Dash and don't have any links to the Dash team any more I thought I'd highlight how moronic this post is.

Illodin was asking a valid question but given that at that moment the difficulty was 0.06250000 and the block reward was 500 and that there were already miners selling coins in bundles of 100s and low 1000s by that point, this is simply no evidence of anything other than Evan had a CPU miner running from launch.

I think it is healthy to question the origins of a coin if there are serious concerns but why spend your life taking out of context quotes and starting threads repeating the same old shit over and over again?

Good point.. if the devs are willing to lie about the instamine being an "accident" - why not just use the GPU miner from the time of launch?

Might explain this gem:

Hey Lebubar!  Welcome!

This is my getinfo so it looks like you're on an older version.  I really don't know what the changelog was...I suppose their is no harm in updating though.

We haven't got round to creating a new github yet so the code should be easy to find and binaries are on the web site in Georges signature.

Make sure you pop in on us now and again.  We're working on possibilities for using the concept of masternodes (we're caling them service nodes) to do things other than handle private transactions (although the option remains for us to do that if we want in the future).

At the moment, the hot topic of debate is whether we would be able to create an incentive system for people to run a full Bitcoin Node to help support Bitcoin through its node count problem.

Dan

Been awhile since I've been around so not sure about what's all happened. But why would you not use darkcoin DASH? That's what the original coin was based on.

Dash was a fork of Litecoin back then and is now ported to Bitcoin core for a number of beneficial reasons.

I wonder if it is worth cpu mining on a full node?

CPU load is < 1% on mine so I might give it a go.  Maybe a few extra SPR every week or two...

Hopefully it won't impact on its node functionality....

EDIT:  16,670 hashes per second says its not worth it Cheesy
