Well that blows guys.

If anyone was skeptical of our warnings, does this help you make your mind up? Banning people for what they're saying on *other* forums, after taking their money.

You can't run an ethical operation while taking customers' money and then ban them from customer service!
422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: July 15, 2014, 05:22:44 PM
Regarding when they placed the order, supposedly back in mid-May they were 'well on their way through the tapeout process, expecting delivery soon'. I want to say they expected delivery by the end of May, but can't recall if they said that particular deadline.
423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: July 15, 2014, 01:17:34 PM
Best-case shipping date was July? Oh on the contrary, for day 1 people the best case was May/June, with a guaranteed-by of July.

My, how things shift. And I believe the others are correct, they'll likely be aiming for late August shipping. This goes back to what was discussed awhile back, they likely ran low on funds, and need the remaining funds to buy chips (either theirs from Drexel who claims they have no business with AT, or someone elses' chips) and then setup hardware to use the chips.

I would hope they already have all of the supporting equipment designed an in-house .... but why wouldn't they post about it if they did? Good luck to anyone stupid/brave enough to complete their orders, hopefully you get your gear.

And bumface, AT did this to themselves. Nobody could possibly harm them more than they did already. You can't possibly do more damage to a company who has shoved its crotch in the face of its customers and cursed them out, and then banned many of them (some who were just asking simple questions about how to complete payment) from the customer-service forum.

I don't see the CC setup as promising, I see it as a bit frightening. Who says they won't take even more money, fail even harder, and/or simply declare bankruptcy and vanish?

Anyone who uses it to give them money.. you either have some huge kahunas or you're really dumb.
425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: July 14, 2014, 04:07:23 PM
Most consumer product laws, and I believe the UK's as well, have no issue with a product being better than promised, but not getting worse.

* They claim increased hash speeds, which is a plus

So far, that's the biggest positive they are providing. Aside from that, they're removing core features (which are still on their product page and design). That's what I'm pointing out.

As to the TOS, they still are outside of the law by claiming partial refund allowance, and by claiming they only take orders from businesses.
426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: July 14, 2014, 12:36:36 PM
Wasn't the 15th (tomorrow) one of their projected dates for beginning shipment? Remeber back in mid-May, they had "almost completed the tapeout process".

It's 2 months later. How's that tapeout completion going?

Searing, good luck in your efforts. I would've pointed out to AMEX how AT isn't even following its own country's guidelines for consumer laws, and how they've changed their TOS several times since day 1, and how the product has changed 75% from what they originally promised to deliver.

The end product, as of their last update, won't even have its own controller unit. It'll just be like a USB Erupter--it'll need a host system. Nor will it be truly rack-mountable like they promised.

They've totally screwed you guys over.

Remind them to make sure they don't leave FTP running on the server again.

FYI it wasnt the FTP server that was the issue. If you would have read my report on the subject dated the day after the leak you would have clearly seen me post about the .git folder that a new staff member had installed. This is where the leak originated from.

I saw that too, was going on what one of the other 'owners' said had occured. FTP hack.

Haha, boy this has turned into quite a circus.
430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: July 11, 2014, 03:48:46 PM
To be fair, all they said was post your suspiscions. Most countries ask you to do the same thing.

And with a group who's taken in thousands (hundreds of thousands?) with nothing to show for it, the fact they're operating outside of the law, and have contacts to the middle-east.. are you really going to question someone who says, contact the authorities if you feel you have a reason?
431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POT] PotCoin Launches Today 01/21 @ 4:20 on: July 11, 2014, 12:35:27 PM
It is hard to not bite. One requires great self control. He is a master of his arts. The perfect blend of ignorance and stupidity. You can't help but wanna reach through the screen and slap him.

Oh I know that feeling, and I said my peace and blocked him, and moved on. Life is so much better that way. He clearly has some sort of anti-potcoin agenda, if not more. Even his name betrays him: Vice Roy. It could be taken as 'viceroy', but with how he's acting, it's like he's former narc/vice, and he got super mad when I mentioned that. Dude needs to chill and just move on.

Quote from: Sardine
If marijuana is ever 100% legal, then there will be very little need for potcoin.

Actually the wording I prefer is decriminalized, not legalized. It changes the onus to more accurately portray the truth in some parts of the world.

The real crime going on is young adults getting a criminal record for a joint which stays with them and lessens their chances of landing a decent job, and could dampen their chances of immigration or international travel. If you are in this situation you are able to get a pardon once in your life in many countries.

The really bad drug is alcohol (not that I'm against having a drink) - but look at the alcohol related incidents - violence, drunkenness, social and relationship issues. But hey that's OK because it's allowed. How about cigarettes - how many die each year from that?  And not a good way to go either.

Absolutely agree with everything written by notabot, especially the quoted text.

Even when marijuana is wholly decriminalized in the US, potcoin can still have a use. There will still be folks using it.

Look at it this way, people still use checks.

sure hope this guy is correct....Alts could ride bitcoin like a world class Hawaiian wave right to the $$$ beach

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/currency/10960012/Bitcoin-price-to-hit-2000-by-end-of-the-year.html

117% speculation, there's no reason for it to inflate. Would rather it remain stable.

Seems like more and more of the sensible folks who are questioning alpha, are being banned on the forums.

Never trust a company who bans its customers for asking questions. That's all you need to know about the company.
433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: July 10, 2014, 05:01:16 PM
Another good laugh from 'The Doctor', talking about credit card processor delays:

"And as a last remark... It's, also contrary to what you are suggesting, actually rather normal that it will take "that long". You don't sign up for a proper credit card processor in a mere few days... It could've been done faster with only accepting a couple of major credit card issuers, but Alpha wants to accept *all* of them so that everybody, no matter what card you have, is able to pay without problems."

You could not make this stuff up if you tried … totally a laugh a minute …

(ref: https://forum.alpha-t.net/index.php?topic=687.50)

That's hilarious. I've owned and run several companies.

Took 48 hours and I could process all credit cards, online and with the reader in person. You only have issues if you have credit or fraud flags for your company.

Or you're trying to purposefully not get one, this way you can cancel preorders and re-sell them......

If people are upset or feel cheated and can prove their story, they just need to contact US Authorities. Until then, scams will continue.

A valid point, the IRC login information should be right on the webpage--perhaps this should be brought up to whomever runs the site. And they shouldn't ban people who ask questions, like they were doing awhile back.
435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POT] PotCoin Launches Today 01/21 @ 4:20 on: July 10, 2014, 01:31:23 PM
What does this have to do with potcoin? There are forums to discuss marijuana and everything revolving around it. This isn't the one. That weirdo ViceRoy is just trying to kick up dust and ruin potcoin. Folks should stop responding to him and feeding him.

Feeding trolls is never good.
436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: July 09, 2014, 01:55:12 PM
The last couple of start-up OEM's I've tracked over the past year, have been 6 months late. December would be about right if that was the case.

Besides, they're only several weeks late on their next major update...
...and a couple of months late on the payment processor
...and the features/design they sold people on has changed almost 75%
...and they're removing their online presence rapidly, including their photos
...and they're banning people who ask simple questions
...and Drexel denied a partnership or anything to do with them at all
...and they can't even show a blinking LED from their "design"
...and their terms and conditions aren't legal
...and they're removing their answers to questions, and discussion with customers
...and they can't even show a functional controller PCB, a month or 2 late on that
...and they still expect you to give them money
...and they continue to tout transparency despite all of this
...and there's more!

What could possibly give anyone any reason to doubt them?

437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POT] PotCoin Launches Today 01/21 @ 4:20 on: July 09, 2014, 02:17:28 AM
Like it even matters, as someone pointed out. Btc was THE currency of the silk road. Look at how much harm THAT did to it's reputation!!!  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Who knows what crawled up roy's ass?

I love people. Interesting bunch.

Exactly, many things are done illegally with US Tender, but it's still being used. It was just a vicious unprovoked attack against potcoin. The technology/coin itself should continue, regardless of who's using it. Same for any coin.

I don't have any monetary catch to this either, I was a large bagholder back in the day, but no longer. I have maybe 20 potcoins or something in some wallet somewhere. I just support a good project, and potcoin has done well.

Longtime potcoin followers should know me, I've been critical of the coin when necessary, and am supportive when appropriate. Right now they're doing well.

More posts being removed / deleted. Always a good sign.

Have any refunds been issued recently, in the past couple weeks?

Potcoin is doing really well, and from what I can see on my screen, nobody has any complaints! Keep up the work potcoin team, everyone I can see on my screen, loves what you're doing!

Yeah he came out awhile back saying similar stuff about how he was innocent and the team had nothing to do with it, but wasn't willing to answer pointed/direct questions, and refused to provide the physical contact info for the others on the team.

Not saying I don't believe him, but it's all still finger pointing until more proof can arise one way or the other, and it still doesn't add up. He's been more talkative lately since CR has started slowly opening once more.

None of it addresses the main point which was brought up awhile back: Inside job or outside theft, doesn't matter, they're still liable for the loss of digital property, and because the individuals involved are US citizens, the US courts would actually hold them responsible. If anyone decided to take it that far.
