Juice? BitPay?

Lol this reminds me of Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid, always with the questions.

By juice he means the collective BTC that people commit in bets.

I'm not too familiar with BitPay so can't really comment on how that mechanism works.

Actually, what I mean by 'juice' is the relatively inexpensive expose an entity would receive if such an event goes quasi-viral. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=juice

As far as BitPay is concerned: http://www.quora.com/BitPay/Whats-the-difference-and-overlap-between-BitPay-and-Coinbase
4362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Super Bowl XLVIII (2014) Bitcoin commercial in the making? on: January 20, 2014, 12:26:45 AM
No idea on the legality, so sites may be tricky. I'd just be putting up a public Google Docs spreadsheet with address, bet amount, team columns, then input whatever formula is appropriate to distribute the winnings proportionally.

I like your idea, but was leaning toward some reputable (NOT dissing you, TBZ) Bitcoin related entity receiving juice if all goes to plan. BitPay comes to mind.

That said, I'm all for the bet idea (unless something better is offered up), but not linking to a Bitcoin betting site due to the stigmatism attached to such, mainly due to Bitcoin doesn't need any more bad press.

Let's continue to kick this around some more, TBZ, and thanks kindly for your valuable inputs.

If San Fran, it'll be their second matchup, with Denver seeking retribution: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_XXIV

Otherwise, it'll be their first meetup in a SB: Denver vs. Seattle.
4365  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Super Bowl XLVIII (2014) Bitcoin commercial in the making? on: January 20, 2014, 12:07:17 AM
If someone wants to generate a vanity for each team, I'll help with the bet accounting for payouts.

1BRNCS
vs
149ERS/ers or 1SEA/1HAWKS

Would a particular Bitcoin betting site be used with your idea?

Also, whether Seattle or San Francisco wins, Bitcoin, of sorts, will be represented.
4366  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Super Bowl XLVIII (2014) Bitcoin commercial in the making? on: January 19, 2014, 11:56:21 PM
Fuck it! Two signs, one on each side of the stadium, depicting a 1 BTC bet for opposite teams with two different QR-Codes.

Ideally, an actual husband and wife team who truly like their team to win and are betting against each other. We could recruit such a couple that are already planning on attending, paying their already outlayed expenses plus, to simply wave the signs.
4367  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Super Bowl XLVIII (2014) Bitcoin commercial in the making? on: January 19, 2014, 11:50:54 PM
Okay, what are the chances of somebody holding up a Bitcoin sign in the crowd caught on National TV a la...

This is what we should be working on: Create sign; Bring sign to the game; Buy tickets from a scalper if not able to obtain elsewhere; Go to seat; Wave sign for four hours. Result: Bitcoin seen at Super Bowl on TV during the game. Bonus points awarded if sign waver is donning a pink tutu.

Idea for the sign:

QR-Code w/Bitcoin logo, and "I bet 1 BTC for X to win!" (QR-Code links to actual bet)
4368  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Introduction to DualMiner USB (could mine both BTC and LTC) on: January 19, 2014, 10:42:07 PM
Just my 2 cents :

- miners have RoHS, FCC and CE Logos -> AFAIK no mining product ever went through all (any?) of these certification processes, as they are expensive and consume way too much time in this fast-moving industry
( we all know time-to-market is literally everything )

- miners have one important specification missing -> onboard RAM (Scrypt requires large amounts of RAM as a core design feature, which is the reason they're still limited to CPU/GPU)

I give it a >98% chance of being a fraud.
(after all, there's a ton of eager customers who would like a power-efficient Scrypt ASIC as soon as possible -> lots of potential profit -> lots of potential fraud targets and fraud profit potential)

PS.
What are the odds of a supposedly completely new device with significantly updated components/features having apparently exactly the same shape & dimensions of a Block Erupter ?
Am I the only one looking at what 100% seems like "repainted Block Erupters" in the images ?

You see Erupters, whereas I see Drills.

Let me get this straight. A donor to this forum scammed people. I bet that never happened before.

4375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Bitsafe? By Butterfly Labs on: January 19, 2014, 03:47:45 PM
I don't understand why people here seem to be shrugging their shoulders at this idea...  I have imagined something exactly like this for a long time now. If it's cheap enough then this could be the link needed for mass adoption of bitcoin with everyday purchases, a true digital wallet.

... It's just a shame it had to be butterflylabs developing it.  Hopefully a few other big players will start developing similar products which would bring release date closer and keep the prices competitive.

Perhaps companies will considering give the devices out free if they can make a small amount of transaction fee's, but then i think would make it an online wallet rather than a hardware wallet.

How do you think it will work... Wifi connectivity? or perhaps a sim card using gprs/3g?

Are you Matthew, for the Elite comes to mind?
4376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the chances BTC is replaced by something better soon? on: January 19, 2014, 03:26:57 PM
well, this is a great topic, but I am afraid half the posters here will hijack this thread by spamming the altcoin they hold

Rapecoin

LOL, I literally spit out of my coffee.

I think you read it wrong, its Rap-eCoin

That makes sense on so many levels.

cracked ribs are no laughing matter

you'll need lots of time and painkillers

Or some good quality bud? I cannot imagine what sorts of posts we would get from Phinny if he was jacked up on painkillers or zonked out on medicinal cannabis.

Josh and I are going fishing this spring, while theymos, that COCKING FUCKBOROUGH MUTHAFUCKING SNAKEZ ON A MUTHAFUCKING PLANE can lick my balls for banning be for 10 days over two years ago.

Haha, why were you banned for 10 days?

It started as only for 3 days for posting off-topic/acting trollish, of sorts, but 7 more days were added due to my infinite wisdom of trying to circumnavigate said ban. Search "Nikki the Bitch" on this forum to see what I mean. Good times!

One great thing that came outta that 10 day session is that I envisioned Bitcoin 100, implementing it almost immediately after the ban was lifted. How do you like me now, theymos?

Now, I believe I'm immune to being banned, but in no way will I press my luck.  Roll Eyes
4380  Other / Off-topic / Re: How can I learn more about computers? on: January 19, 2014, 02:00:11 PM
I know most of you probably laughed when you seen this!!!

I used to be huge into computers now I feel like I barely know anything anymore... Time too restart!!!

I can't take courses as I work full-time too provide for a family!

Would love any help here Smiley

I'm into web design.. Marketing help... Maybe online courses you have taken?

thanks!!!

watch youtube tutorials on whatever kind of coding you want to learn. i dont think classes really help anyone in this area. all the information is there for you. a teacher can only talk you through it where a forum on the subject can do the same.

Actually, this IS an excellent suggestion. Doesn't take up too much time, and sometimes it'll be pretty entertaining. Simply click and watch any title that tickles your fancy that's commuter related, whereupon you'll stumble upon one aspect of said realm that you won't seem to get enough of, seeking out all related subject matter, like the time you first discovered Bitcoin.

Case in point, albeit not via videos, a few short years ago I would have been hard-pressed to construct long sentences that seem to flow effortlessly but, thanks to Google, I'm able to, along with discontinuing the use of dangling participles and rarely ending a sentence with a preposition since (unless it's in italics).
