43921  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: (In Stock) Gridseed USB miners - $189.95 Plus Free Hosting and Electricity! on: March 18, 2014, 03:54:28 AM
went to your site to let you host a few and there is no hosting option.  only  seems to be a 25 dollar express delivery fee. for a single unit. bringing your 189 price to 214. if I order 2 you charge 50 bucks for overnight.

so your website needs to clearly show your hosting option.

I would have ordered tonight now I will  most likely pass..

So I placed an order for 3 today and sent payment immediately. The website shows unpaid and expired for the order. How do I get assistance for this?

43923  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [In Stock] Batch 8! Gridseed miners in Stock in Los Angeles. [$225] on: March 17, 2014, 09:17:01 PM
I got 3 in today brings me up to 9. 6 from zoom hash.    well looks like my little asrock z77  itx-e mobo has a limit of 8 gridseeds.

not bad  but I was hoping for it to do more like 12-16.  I am running the 9th one on a different board.

for now I will have to stop orders until I can figure out which of my 5 mining pc's will run multiple grid seeds.

so far one mobo is fuck you I don want your stinking grid seeds.
one mob runs 1 and gag on  anymore then that and the Asrock runs the 8.

I did some reading without a USB hub you only have 8 total usb ports on the Asrock z77.

I am using a usb hub and at the 9th grid seed it is an f you

try the hub on usb 2.0 at the motherboard. i had a problem when i had my usb hub plugged in to usb 3.0. it did not see the gridseed. changed to a usb 2.0 on the board and it worked. unless your just saying the 9th gridseed is just dead.
no it works on a different mobo.  it just seems as if the as rock has a limit of 8 to be fair this mobo has been a coin work horse since aug 2012  always runs a gnu at some coin.  has run over 300 asic miner sticks  and more then 300 antminers along with red fury and ice fury sticks.  when I loaded the grid seeds my com numbers

are
 com679
 com680
 com681
 com682
 com683
 com684

today I loaded the last 3 and got
com685
com686
com687

the last one did not work. I moved all nine around and the last one did not work not subject to the grid seed but subject to the ninth one.

this mobo no longer loads ant miner u-1s  I know I have to reset all the com ports back to start just lazy. as this has a lot of other programs and I fear fucking them up if I reset all my com ports.
for now it is running on a different machine so no worries.

43927  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Let's talk about the Antminer S2 on: March 17, 2014, 01:05:44 PM
Other than lower power.

I see S1 still cheaper Ghs/BTC compared with S2.

1000 watts in the summer vs 2000 watts big difference.  as you may not need AC . once you need AC power cost gets brutal.

putting this gear out now was smart on bitmain's part.

 follow the march 9th instructions.  if you did that already do it one more time with the words:   {   Second Attempt  }

They have paid back 400 plus shares

They did not skip and run.  Which is more then a lot of other companies have in this game.

Hmm, I wonder what kind of a card you can get for $150 Cheesy I would love to see that math.

If you get lucky you can get a 7850 under 200 and it will hash a little better then the gridseed will.
43930  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [In Stock] Batch 8! Gridseed miners in Stock in Los Angeles. [$225] on: March 16, 2014, 10:47:42 PM
As I said, I get the power and convenience part, but do not forget GPUs and computer equipment will always have some value, you can get 50%-70% back anytime.  Especially me, I never buy top of the line GPUs for $600, instead I get $100-$200 GPUs that give me 50% of top of the line, so your math is not really correct for. But that's not the point.  The point is I am buying a piece of hardware that is only good for 1 thing, mining. So if difficulty increases, those miners would just become useless, so if we look at risk/reward of getting PC hardware vs these miners, well it just doesn't cut it fore me. I'd rather have 20% additional cost of power with the flexibility to turn off my miners if I need to, knowing I can get 50-70% back for my equipment within next 1-2 years, then investing into something that can have 0 value if things change.  All I am saying specialized miners should be able to better compensate for the fact that they are completely useless outside of mining.  And current fact that I need to be able to run them for 7 month to get my money back kills this deal for me.

for me as I have pc's running with gpus and I have  antminer s-1's running.

I pull heavy duty power 4k  which while the house is wired for it.  In fact I can do 6k an hour for mining.

One of the joys of living in NJ  is you can legally wire you own home.  Just pull a permit from the town and have them inspect it when done.  So when I purchased my home back in 1992 it was built in 1970  and had aluminum wiring due to a copper shortage from the Vietnam war.

I knew I was going to rewire my house with all copper the day I purchased it.  I also know I was putting in 10 gauge and 20 amp plugs. I liked loud music at the time.  So my house has 200 amp service with a 40 breaker box.   I use 32 of the breakers and have the chance to really run hot gpus from Oct to April.  I then downsize by selling off the gpus.  this year I am increasing my hash by sell off gpus and replacing with gridseeds.

 3 of them = 1050      cost me 600 for 3

 1 r9 290x =880 khs    got 641 on a sale at the peak price

my cash gain = 41 bucks  I had power supplies and cables

 my kh gain = 170kh

I now use 30 watts not 240 watts.

I have 8 more gpus

If I offload 4 of them  I drop about a k watt If I add 12 more gridseeds I gain kh and lay out almost no cash.  This is an easy choice for me.
43931  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [IN STOCK] ANTMINER S1 by BITMAIN in Los Angeles, Ca USA-- SHIPS TODAY! on: March 16, 2014, 08:15:19 PM
This is the psu I setup http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182082
its dedicated soley to the s1, using the formula calc above I get 0.47 atm. Its odd cause everything else seems normal and its doesn't seem to be effecting earning currently around 0.022 per day. Just not sure why the rate seems so high compared with other stock units. The psu has a single cable with 2 6 pin connectors that plug into the s1 and I have a jumper in place on the 24 pin connector, nothing else wires into the psu. It plugs into a surge protector then into a watt meter that also powers a scrypt miner and a switch pulling just over 1100 watts at the wall. I did have it plugged directly in the wall by itself the day b4 when I took the error pic and errors are the same the way it is setup now.

the one 1 pcie cable is not rated for 360 watts.

it rates for less  300 watts 24/7/365 .

that may be the problem.   do me a favor and run just the antminer with the same setup and measure just the power it takes.

I have all plat psu's and I pull about 355 for 1 unit and about 720 for 2 units.

my guess is your meter will be higher the 355 more like 380 watts due to the underated pcie cable.  this means the wires are having trouble with the high load.

or worse crazy low like 320 watts  which means the gear is underpowered.

if the meter reads between 350- 365 .

I am wrong. that the psu is the problem.

but still correct that the cable is not rated for 360 watts 24/7/365 days.

Hi, I did the calculation and it seems that I would need about 7 month to get my money back based on the current difficulty and thats assuming the difficulty stays the same and the prices stay the same.  Am I correct ? I understand that these are more efficient as far as power goes, but GPUs could be used for something else at the end of the day and these units can only mine.

Don;t get me wrong I think it is a great development that there are script asics, I am just questioning economics.

in dollars and cents these work well if you are like me a house with 9 gpus pulling 2500 watts of juice.

Just  sell some of them off and replace with these.

If you are a new miner and have a decent pc with room for a second gpu  you can argue  to buy the gpu.

my order of 3 has been marked with tracking this will bring me to 9.

I have an idea for a low cost case. I will post it later .  the parts have not arrived yet.

Nice, looking forward to hearing about it Smiley

some of the parts.  I think you can build a setup to hold  8 per level.

with the 2 foot rods below I believe  4 levels could fit  that would make for 32 pieces or around  10,000kh

you need psu's  and of course a usb hub.  my goal is a 3 level 20-24 piece setup

43935  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [IN STOCK] ANTMINER S1 by BITMAIN in Los Angeles, Ca USA-- SHIPS TODAY! on: March 16, 2014, 03:05:48 PM
Ok so my s1 arrived yesterday and was super easy to setup had it out of the box and taking care of business in less than 30 minutes. I will upload some pics when i get a chance.I have a question about HW errors its seems to be getting quite a few no overclocking and don't plan on it, already has the latest firmware, seem the be the most common solution I found searching around a bit. Any ideas?

slowroll951,

I believe this is the correct formula for calculating your error rate. Please let me know how it goes. thanks. sbfree

HW / (diffA + diffR + HW) * 100

your error rate is really bad my guess is your psu sucks.     please name the psu and show the exact wire setup to us.

43936  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: March 16, 2014, 02:59:47 PM
Guys calm down about the PSU. I've ordered an S2 and will do a setup guide and review - if it burns my flat down then I'll let you know Wink

In all seriousness, I'll obviously check pwoer consumption and PSU spec'ing.

so if it is 800 watts at the wall  it will work for quite a while.

I have used two 1000 watt plat  seasonic's pulling 770 watts for 14 months .

but lets say that is the case that it pulls 800-820 watts doing 990gh.

I still don't need his psu as I have 1 x 1000 watt seasonic plat and 3 fractal design newton r3 plat 1000 watt psu's in my home. I also have a 1200 watt psu from corsair.

So the unit is at least 200usd  more for the psu + more to ship due to the extra weight.
43937  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: March 16, 2014, 02:33:34 PM
I feel that Bitmain is skimping on the PSU.  Assuming that they're using Enermax ERV1000EWT-G 80 Plus Gold which is approximately 90% efficient at around full load (996W or 83A total on the 12V rail), the S2 would be drawing around 900WDC (1000WAC at the wall*90%) from this PSU.  That's a 90% (900W/996W) continuous load 24/7.  That's too close for comfort.  A 1200W PSU (75% load) would be more appropriate.  Personally, I prefer a 1500W PSU (60% load) for the S2; much closer to peak efficiency which is at 50% load.

Bitmain should offer an option to sell the S2 without a power supply at an appropriately reduced price so we could supply our own PSU just like with the S1s or get rid of the relatively puny 1000-Watter and use at least a 1200W premium PSU.  The cost difference for them shouldn't be that much especially when purchased in bulk.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817194101

yeah I don't need his psu nor do I want it.  I have lots of quality 1000 and 1200 watt psu's they are running his s-1's

I want a solid discount for one without a psu.  BTW this also would allow them to say the gear does not work and needs psu repairs to work thus allowing them to legally use a lower value to ship to the EU.

So bitmain I know you would be stuck a shit load of psu's if you do this, but the truth is for many of us we just do not need the psu!
43938  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How i can undrervolt Ant minter s1 ???????????? on: March 16, 2014, 01:12:00 AM
Wait, I thought the BM1380 was for the S2? Do the S1 and the S2 use the same chip? Why did I think they were using different chips? I've been sick this week, and a little out of it, so my apologies for any confusion.

Yep the S1 and the S2 use the same chip.

Lets say we went with the 0.75V @ 205MHz, and OC'd it to 245MHz. Each S1 would be making 125GH/s, and pulling 82W at the chip). That means @20% inefficiencies, and adding the fixed costs = ~130W. 8 ants would be making 1TH/s while only using 1040W (from the PSU, which means 1140W from the wall).

Sounds great  Smiley
We need to find out somehow where that resistor is and what resistance it should be changed to to get 0.75V!

Due to the design of the unit I would imagine you would need to change eight SMT resistors.  A bit of a pain but interesting.

yeah my eyes are too old but it is doable.

maybe 100gh at 100 watts could be done.
