44621  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: What's a fair price for Block Erupters? on: November 11, 2013, 09:40:51 PM
I want to sell my lot for a fair price, but what might that be nowadays? Obviously I won't get my investment back, but I see them for sale ranging anywhere from .06 to .15.

If you use eBay, they're going for $15ish used shipped, minus 14% for fees for eBay/PayPal = $12.50 .  That would be my asking price a price, shipped.

So I just looked on eBay, and I see 1 ad for $15 all others are more, around $20, and for $45! Are people still paying that amount?

Thanks to those who PM'd.

The price is rising due to the fact that production seized on these, and the last few are going nuts.  Before Friday I would expect to see them at over 20 on average.

this and btc has risen.  I was hard pressed to sell sets  of  5 for 52.

I sold sets of 5 for 74 yesterday.

I sold sets of 5 for 79 today.

Many people can turn a profit on a 5 stick buy for 79 for 2 reasons.

First reason----------------- 0 power cost think college dorm or place of work.

second reason------------ they are doing all calculations in usd.

third reason--------------- they hope for price rise  in btc.  this is an important reason..

the day of the silk road bust BTC was at 100  usd a coin  now it is 340 usd a coin.

so if coins move to 1020 usd  and all calculations are done in usd they need under .1 BTC  to make a profit in the eyes of usd fiat.

80 usd in 102 usd out.

well looks like knc's november sales are done.

https://www.kncminer.com/categories/miners

that makes our  2 miners more valuable.

I wonder if we sold one for btc only on this forum   for 6.5 k to a usa buyer only,  if it would sell.

It is in hand  we could offer fast shipping.
44623  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: is anyone aware of this ASICMiner BOX on: November 11, 2013, 07:55:41 PM
yeah I figure it to be more then 1btc for usa buyers. but if it runs 1.25btc or 425 usd shipped to any usa state I would want one.  if it is 1 btc or 340 usd shipped to any usa state I would take 2.

the price may be only 1 btc   for 30gh!
44625  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: is anyone aware of this ASICMiner BOX on: November 11, 2013, 06:51:12 PM
that is the cube.  should be out very soon.

if it is 1btc for 30 gh that is a good price.  it will sell like mad.   cex.io is  .092 for 1gh  that is .92 for 10gh.

so if you buy from cex.io you pay 2.76btc for 30gh  .  if you buy this at 1 btc that is a lot less.  I want 2 for that price.

Is there a way to get my Blue Fury USB to work with BitMinter, or do I have to use bfgminer? I've tried the beta downloaded from the website but that doesn't pick it up. Can I then get bfgminer to use the BitMinter server, so I can see everything in one place?

I use my block erupters with bitminter client.  I then use my red fury with bfgminer.  If I go to bit minter.com to look the worker adds the two together.

were you able to load the driver for the blue fury.  I use windows 7.

http://luke.dashjr.org/programs/bitcoin/files/bfgminer/3.5.1/

I loaded  the bfgminer from here. I used the bfgminer-3.5.1-win64zip  .

I am only running red fury with the 3.5.1 client

the be's run on doc's client.  same worker same pc.

I would send one to you   and not the one with the melted fuse. LOL

  I need to check shipping.

 24 usd to ship

PM me.  we can figure a price.  has to be btc
44630  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Block eruptor 49 port hubs on: November 11, 2013, 03:51:39 AM
I am usa based I have 3 of them..

One)   they will burn up most power supplies. -----------killed 2 power supplies

Two)  If you get a good power supply and run 49 sticks  you may over heat the hub. ------------melted the fuse supplied

it was a 40 amp fuse.   they issue is a 40 amp fuse will not blow but it will get hot enough to melt shit.  I put in 30 amp fuses and problem stopped.

Three)  If you are willing to run 35-42 sticks they are okay.--------   I now run 2 of them with 36 and 39 sticks each  no worries

here are 3 in action before I melted the 40 amp fuse

after deciding that we want a refund (I'm not sure we have a majority yet), the main
question is getting the btc back from HF. This may not be trivial.
What to do with the funds next (invest in other GBs,
bet on horses, spend on blow...)  is a different and I'd say an unrelated question.

you may be correct if HashFast continues to delay  they make BFL look okay.  (that would be hard to do).

It's 30ghash for $600,

so,   quite horrible

30gh - 38gh oc'd for 600   is not dirt cheap but it is okay for some under the correct conditions.

Any home in the USA that has electric heat would do well with this as a supplement to the heating bill.    Now if you are in Miami FL it is not that good. But if you have a home in Virginia or Tennesse with electric heat this is a good piece of gear.

price show around as 1.68/1.78

Nice ASIC you have there....

Can you please give us a few more details?  Is that the cube we keep hearing about?  What speed did you manage to get out of it?

It is not mine AM will have these about NOV 14th…  I believe but not sure CanaryInTheMine will sell them.

44637  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: ASIC Space Heaters will Lower Breakeven Mining Cost to Under 3.8c / kwh on: November 10, 2013, 06:14:48 PM
Math:
ASIC rigs currently cost between $1.50 and $10 per Watt.  Once the bitcoin price and hashrate stabilizes and ASIC companies' profit margins are driven down, a miner of average network efficiency is likely to cost only $1/W

If a household buys a 1000W bitcoin miner as a heater for a good sized room, using a miner of average network efficiency, it will cost them $1000 (or ~$40 for a normal electric space heater).

To pay this off in 3 years, the miner must earn $333/year

$333 / (8760kwh/year) = 3.8c/kwh

Conclusion:
Miners who don't need any of the heat generated by their equipment will eventually be losing money if they pay over 3.8c/kwh, as long as average hardware converges to under $1 per watt, because they will be undercut by people who already need to run electric heaters.  The ASIC heater business appears to have a bright future.

Questions:

How widespread is electric heating vs gas worldwide?
I found one article saying it was cheaper to use electric in Lithuania.  Certainly in the US, natural gas is always cheaper due to huge recent discoveries, so the US will be left out of the ASIC heater market.

Is it true that the miner/heater only has to compete with electric resistance heating in cold areas of the world?  It is my understanding that heat pumps do not work when the outside temperature is under 40F.

The ASIC heater has to be on 24/7 for this math to work, so are there are many places in the world where heat is needed 24/7?

Other threads on heating with mining:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=36429.20
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=134085.0

In many USA states  homes are heated by electricity .   Tennessee has  decent power rates and many homes only have electric heat.   So from Nov to Apr.  Maybe 6 months. Maybe 5 months.   Any of these homes can fully heat the home with a few asic mining setups.

the setup above is in my attached garage.  It burns 500 watts and it hashes at about 42gh.   that is 11.5 watts a gh.  but in a home with electric heat only and there are more then 1 million such homes in the USA it is great.

you need to spend the money on electric power to heat the home.  so this would be 12 k watt a day  or 360 k watt a month.

44638  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Ready to buy my first ghashes. $1600 to spend. on: November 10, 2013, 04:42:04 PM
Okay i have about 1600 and i want to start something out even if i can't mine btc ill mine dem or some other alt coin.

I will be mining for charity debra is the name of the charity ive been paying each month to this charity.
So since i don't have to pay power at my office i figured i would run a rig and give what i earn to the chairty its self.
I love the concept of trading coins theres a rush to it so ima just mine, trade and dump them into charity.

I would like to see what deals people know and could help out with they can be new or used as long as they were never broken.

Looking for:
Decent hash rate 50-100ghash
Decent price nothing over 1600 unless i see its worth it.
Whole sale deals or sites that anyone can offer or knows of.

-Note-
Im not asking for btc.
Not asking for shares.
I want to get this all done with in the next few days so if you guys could help me out that would be nice.

0 power  has some meaning.   next week asic miner's cube comes out  cost for 1 cube will be 2btc or 600usd. may work well for you.  1 cube mines 30-38gh

Refund received thanks.  To the coop members.  when I purchased this i paid .47 btc  I asked for .45 btc and donated .02 btc to the coop.   So far this coop is so honest that with the rise in btc price I made usd doing this.   Please stay this good.  It is a breath of fresh air to me to see good in BTC people.  Thanks again.
44640  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] BTC up, RED FURY down to .35 - USB Miners - USA Group Buy on: November 10, 2013, 05:00:08 AM
I ordered 3 more so far the 1  I have is chugging along at 2.37gh.

These could turn out to be okay. I may order more once I get these 3.

I don't see how you figure?  Even with BTC at $350, you'll never get close to recouping your costs.

M

it hashes at 7x am sticks.    so if i sell 7 of my 160 am sticks for 15 each on the bay  that is 105 bucks.  fees - 7 = 98 bucks shipping = -6 = 92 bucks

so put that 92 against the 110 this stick  is and I am paying 18 for it.

I have been getting 5 sticks for 74 on ebay the last few days due to the rise in BTC price.   5 sticks at 74 usd is   14.80 a stick.

so add 1.40 and i am getting these for about 19.40 each.  i mine at the same speed and my 160  am sticks pulling close to 500 watts  becomes 24 of these pulling 70 watts.

24 of these would be about 500 out of pocket.
