OK if no-one else kicks this off, I will do the honours:

Code:
[?????] T?? ?????????a?? ???? ????? ?? ??? ??t? a???????a?? ?? ???????ta??
Code:
[?????] The ?????????a?? ???? ????? of the 11th anniversary of Bitcointalk

Code:
[Merit] The illegitimate word search of the 11th anniversary of Bitcointalk

 Cheesy

Nice try but there's a 't' in illegitimate (edit: in "Merit" as well, so no Merit guys Grin), so that's not possible, otherwise it would be there already (errrmmm I suppose Tongue Grin).

"The biochemicals were blown on the 11th anniversary of Bitcointalk" is still a completely acceptable (also very plausible) possibility, though!

Damn I came to check out the new letters you were adding for several days, but in the end I completely missed out on the launch of your quizz. Isn't that just typical, dammit!! Cool Angry Grin

Too late to register, too many participants apparently, but man, I swear I haven't laughed so much for ages, as when I realized you'd forgotten to lock your thread - that by itself already got you my Merit Wink Cheesy
442  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitwings promises smartphone that can mine 2 ETH/month. Ponzi scheme? on: November 23, 2020, 10:52:02 PM
the bitwings project is indeed a very long and long project. regardless of whether the result is achieved or not ieo. bitwings still has the minephone wx product which I think is good enough to buy. especially plus a bonus.
whether it can be sent to another country or not, we are waiting for the pre-order for the wx minephone.

"good enough to buy"? Ok, I don't think so. In terms of features and functionality, there are far better phones at far cheaper prices from well-known and recognized manufacturers and not some 'nameless' garbage we have here. And what do you mean by "especially plus a bonus"? A cloud mining contract? Trust me, you better take that money and invest directly in ETH.

Don't waste your time to reply, Stalker 22, this is the guy who said:

(...) ponzi or not we have to try and follow the mining contract program. (...)

Don't you agree with him? Cool

There's another fishy one popping up in the Dutch boards: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2520995;sa=showPosts

We normally never have this amount of activity (left aside suspicious activity) in our local community boards.

Anyway, I'm not going to bump this thread every time some loser posts something in the Dutch boards, but I hope everyone remains well aware of these risks, not only on his own local boards but elsewhere, too.
444  Local / Alt Coins (Nederlands) / Re: Bitvested Affiliate Programma on: November 23, 2020, 09:53:39 PM

445  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to my bitcoin if I die today? on: November 23, 2020, 09:42:36 PM
Bitcoin is decentralized and know one knows it's regulations and it can't be compared to bank that uses fiat currency and that is while fiat currency is centralized, while bitcoin, even all cryptocurrencies know one is centralized like fiat, looking at bitcoin worldwide its obvious that no country that can testify or tell that btc have Central place you can purchase it, that is the reason is called decentralized currency, so is good to understand that the base knowledge or capture information about bitcoin before adventuring into it.
You're saying up something which is totally off topic on here mate yet you do only mention about bitcoin decentralization? How does it connect on OP's concern about inheritance of btc incase he dies?
Be sure to read up on next time on whats the discussion so that you wont really be making yourself like a fool on where responding into something which is totally out of the track.
On topic on what would happen to your coins if you die today? Those coins would be lost forever if your loved ones wouldnt able to recover or open the wallet this is why if you are
really concern with that then you should need to teach them on how to access it if do accidents do happen. It would be better for them to access so that they would benefit
out rather than on letting those coins would come to waste.

Don't teach other people about on- and off-topic, if you can't stay on-topic yourself.

OP didn't ask about your loved ones. OP asked:

what happens to the bitcoin of someone who died and didn’t disclose his/her wallet details to anyone? please I need response . Would the bitcoin be abandoned in the wallet forever?? Would it be a waste of bitcoin?

So, tell us, milewilda, since you're so eager to stay on-topic: what are the economic consequences if Bitcoins are lost forever?

I have mutton and lamb chops in a deep freezer under the stairs.  Good?  🐺

I made a small and accessible DYOR guide in the Beginners section: link to the guide. I wrote it in 2018 but I still keep it updated from time to time. That should get you started easily.

Further on, seeing that you are a Newbie to these boards, don't forget to start at the Beginners section, there's a lot of useful information on several different topics.
448  Other / Meta / Re: Plagiarism as a result of cultural differences on: November 22, 2020, 12:14:30 PM
How do you determine the intent of why someone posted a photo. (...)
How can you determine and prove that he is claiming the photo is his or that he isn't?

If you want to apply a rule, you need proof that someone has broken it. With all due respect, surely this can't be the first time in your life that you realized an offence has to be proven??

That's exactly why mods are so careful before they ban someone for plagiarism.

If you need to know more, just search Google for "proof of intent", but this is turning into a (rather absurd) general legal discussion which has nothing to do with your OP and it's completely off-topic.

One of the main reasons why we (at least I) despise banks, governments and corporations, namely their appalling bureaucracy and their slowness and horrible lack of efficiency, should be used as a protection against them. Fill out their forms and reply to their questionnaires in a way that satisfies them, and you'll probably be perfectly fine....

Oh of course. It's not that big a deal, bitcoins go through a special account at the bank that is KYCed and all taxes are paid and so forth. It's just annoying to see it going into every aspect of one's life. Plus I remember paypal hacks and know the damage having too much information out there can cause.

So if I don't need PP I don't need to give them even more data to lose. Plus there is that "if you don't control your keys, it's not bitcoin" voice that whispers in the back of my head.

I wonder if there could be a way to turn this whole KYC and ID thing to our advantage. For instance, what if we would simply post all of our private data on the net? If we then were accused of something that leads back to us, we could simply answer: sure, but that could have been anybody, because my data is publicly available anywhere. (let's be honest, government security has more holes than a sieve anyway, so our info probably is up for grabs already...)

Most of your data would work.  Just not your wallet keys.

Good suggestion Cool Most of the other so-called "private" date are invented by government and corporations anyway: SSA number, national registry number (or whatever it's called in countries all over the world), addresses and numbers, account numbers etc.

Shouldn't complain though. At least our parents got to pick our first names freely.

That's like saying, "if you find me - you can fuck me, and if you don't - I will be under the stairs." Tongue
Ever heard of identity theft? It's called private data for a pretty good reason.

Hm. Apparently I can "buy" "bitcoin" in Paypal. However I have to set up a "cash account" and they want my SSN/TIN and DOB.

I don't think I ever gave them that before. Need to think about this for awhile.

Paypal is trying to be a bank now...so indeed...I figure I'm so odd that I'm already on any radar of any note with any government or institution so don't sweat it anymore...

same here. kyc'd to the hilt on coinbase  and such. i started with them in 2013 and while i knew about the whole pseudonymous thing but now with modern chain analysis man they can do some serious guesswork. i like that most of my coins are mainly from pool payouts, and all properly claimed on my taxes.

im sure i raised flags at the bank. i mean ive gone out of my way trigger flags, might as well flaunt it. and did get a call, specifically asking about coinbase, from my banks due diligence office. she mainly wanted to know what i used it for (investment) and do i send anything out of the country (no). thats was about it. coinbase and that particular bank account had been linked for like 8 years.

456  Local / Beurzen / Re: Btc op Exchange laten staan? on: November 21, 2020, 08:41:55 AM
Het lijkt mij dat, met de huidige beveiligingsmaatregelen zoals cold storage en 2FA, ook brokers en exchanges wel veilig zijn.

Dat blijft een kwestie van vertrouwen; "not your keys, not your coins".

U weet ongetwijfeld al dat ik die uitspraak even inhoudsloos vind als "not your keys, not your house" of "not your keys, not your car" en zo... Juridisch gezien is het simpel: "not your keys, wel degelijk nog steeds your house, your car en dus ook your coins".

457  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Price increase = scam increase - BE CAREFUL, friends on: November 21, 2020, 08:22:49 AM
as indicated by several users scams seem to be more prevalent within local boards. Obviously, this doesn't make it true, and could be a placebo effect.

Are there any stats about this?

I've had two scam "risks" (meaning it's my suspicion without proof) on the Dutch board in only a few days. Since (some of) the local boards are less active than the general English boards, there's a probably a relatively high chance these scams remain unrevealed for a longer time.

Then again, since these boards are less active, the possibility that these offers are seen by vulnerable/newbie members is probably also lower.

I can't remember for myself, because it's too long ago now, but I can imagine that some newbies who have few experience about crypto whatsoever, first visit their local boards to learn more about crypto. If they find such an offer, without knowing the risks of scams (and the signals like Trust, self-moderation, ranks etc.), there's a chance they get scammed.

Has nothing to do with greed but with ignorance. Greed is not exclusively reserved for naive newbies, ya know. Cool

So, yeah, I am taking back some of my harshness in my earlier response post to you, but there is still a lesson to all in terms of rooting for down.. which may cause you to get beaten up.. at least verbally..

I didn't interpret your words as being harsh tbh - I don't tend to take things personal very rapidly, especially since most of us do not know each other (nor each other's situation) personally. If it's not a lesson to me personally, it might be a lesson to someone else reading these posts.

Now, I'd friendly suggest to remove this perfume of "Serious Discussion" out of the WO again. Wink I'm having some Belgian beers atm, here's to your health, JJG and all WO peepz.
459  Economy / Scam Accusations / Cryptopia Rescue - warning Cryptopia liquidation - user information leaked on: November 19, 2020, 05:44:35 PM
Some of you might know I'm quite fascinated about all legal aspects of crypto, and therefore I have been keeping a close eye on - among others - the unfolding of the Cryptopia bankruptcy liquidation.

A few days ago, the liquidators have released a warning: it seems the Court administration has mistakenly communicated "confidential and sensitive" information of several Cryptopia users to a third-party group called "Cryptopia Rescue", which might or might not have contacted these users in order to obtain financial support for their group. Without any doubt, there's a lot to be said about this mistake... Roll Eyes But let's not go into that now.

Now, this is not a scam accusation per se, but if you are one of the affected users in the Cryptopia liquidation case, and if you have been contacted by Cryptopia Rescue, know that they possibly have not obtained your contact information (and possibly even more information concerning your holdings, trade history etc.) in a legal way.

Quote
Please be aware that due to an error by court staff at the Christchurch High Court, information containing certain customer data has been provided to an unauthorised third party. We consider this information confidential and sensitive, and we are concerned that this third party may attempt to use it to mislead and influence account holders’ decision making. We have taken steps to restrain the misuse of this confidential information and to recover it from the third party.

We understand that this party is associated with a scheme named Cryptopia Rescue and a New Zealand company.

Cryptopia Rescue is claiming that we as the Liquidators will not abide by the judgment of Justice Gendall. It is important to remember that we initiated the hearing to get the directions and, as previously stated, we will adhere to Justice Gendall's decision. Not to do so would be in breach of the Court’s directions made on our application.

Those Court directions require that repatriation of customer holdings is to be in Crypto where possible. We are working towards paying as many users in Crypto as possible.

Cryptopia Rescue is encouraging members to contribute to their scheme by paying a monetary contribution as a means of forcing us to work with them to supposedly fast track repayment of funds to certain users ahead of others, which is not in line with New Zealand Law.

As Liquidators, we will not ask you to deposit any further crypto-assets or fiat to return Account Holders' property. To pay funds to another party to supposedly enforce directions we are following is unnecessary.

We urge Account Holders to take care to ensure that any communications asking you to deposit further funds are not scams, and to carefully read all terms and conditions of any proposals from third parties.

Members are being asked to sign powers of attorney and enter into an agreement with a 'principality' that does not physically exist. We encourage account holders to seek legal advice before they enter into any such agreements and agree to settlement of property in an unreleased, unknown and unregulated Cryptocurrency as consideration for a part of or all the account holders’ entitlement.

We must warn that anyone outside of the official communication channels claiming to have access to the confidential information or offering to tell account holders what balances are in their accounts is doing so without the Liquidators' authority.  This includes Cryptopia Rescue. Please be wary of any such approaches and note that any communications relating to the Liquidation will come from the official channels such as the Grant Thornton website, or the Grant Thornton and Cryptopia Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Source here.

This is in no way a positive or negative opinion or a scam accusation towards Cryptopia Rescue, but since this information was obtained by mistake, I think this subject absolutely deserves clarification.

I'm leaving this thread completely open and not self-moderated to make sure any affected or concerned party can react freely, should they feel the need to do so. I will not join this discussion, as my personal reason of opening this thread is limited to simply sharing this information. I haven't even got a clue about what this Rescue group is or stands for, except for the info quoted above.

I do however believe this message is important enough to not see it drown somewhere in the Altcoin Discussion boards or so... If the mods however think this thread should be moved to another subboard, I accept, or just let me know and I'll move it gladly myself.
460  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Cryptopia Judge: "1. Crypto is property 2. Even w/o keys, crypto remains yours" on: November 19, 2020, 05:20:46 PM
(...)

I won't even bother calculating how much value these 344BTC have today... Pure tragedy...

New liquidators' report is coming in December. I do not know how many people are interested in the unfolding of this liquidation, but since I don't think there's that much people involved or interested on these boards, I'm not going to open a separate thread for the liquidation, and simply keep on posting my comments (if any) in this thread.

Little word of warning: it seems the Court administration has made an error and communicated personal information of Cryptopia users to a third-party sort-of lobby group called "Cryptopia Rescue". It is possible these people have received contact info, info about your holdings and assets etc.

Without making any judgment about the trustworthiness of this "Cryptopia Rescue", people should be careful when they are being contacted by this group, possibly asking for financial support and to know that they've obtained your info because of a mistake in the NZ Court.

For this warning, I will probably open a scam alert thread somewhere in the Reputation board.

Looks like governments f*ck up everywhere all around the world.
