441  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stainless steel or Titanium on: October 18, 2023, 04:20:41 PM
Titanium is just as good as Stainless steel.

It all comes down to preference and affordability. I think one of the reasons stainless steel has been recommended as good for seed phrase backup is because of its affordability. Besides to make titanium useful for extreme application it has to be alloyed with aluminum. Titanium aluminide is the material used for extreme applications.

Feel free to use whatever works for you. The goal is to ensure that your seed phrase is safe and doesn't ever fall into the wrong hands
442  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cash out or keep playing? on: October 18, 2023, 02:04:36 PM
Ideally, my answer to this question would be that the gambler should cash out and go home. It seems like the perfectly normal thing to do however for me I would keep playing. Since I have been lucky so far I may have a bigger look so to keep playing would be what would make logical sense for me. I will willingly accept the risk that is involved in keeping playing and be fine with the outcome. Please note that I'll do this for games were I have experience in and I am familiar with. For unfamiliar games where I win at first play, I'll withdraw the winnings and leave.
443  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you leave gambling if your future wife/husband tells you to do this ? on: October 18, 2023, 12:05:25 PM
Will you leave gambling if your future wife/husband tells you to do this ?
If there ever comes a day where my significant other tells me that I should watch my gambling activity or I need to quit it then I know that I have been over gambling and it is affecting my relationship and other aspect of my life. This is a very good sign that the individual is addicted to gambling and needs to stop it immediately. But you must know that quitting gambling is not as drinking water and dropping the cup. It is harder than just saying you have to quit. If such a partner would be kind enough to assist me on the journey to quitting gambling, that is the fastest way out.
444  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Casino Crypto gambling on: October 17, 2023, 05:52:34 PM
Is there any skill involved in any of their games or is it all purely chance?
Skill and experience is only involved playing in poker and sportsbet the rest are purely chance of luck, you cannot make a profitable strategy in blackjack, roulette or dice, even if you have more than 5 years of experience the result will still vary on your luck.
Yes.
Slots a game of luck. To support the point you have made, forget about all those strategies that are said is involved in winning. They don't work. Imagine for a minute that the supposed strategy works and every gambler uses them and they win. Soon enough the casino will run out of business. They can never let this happen.
445  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do your parents know about your gambling habit ? on: October 17, 2023, 05:26:19 PM
Most of the grown up people do not live with parents. At such, the parents are not aware about the interests and habits of individuals. Do you parents know that you gamble ? What was their first reaction towards your gambling habit ?
I am a grown assed human.
My parents doesn't have to know my activities. Besides I moved out many years ago.
What I think I owe them now is respect by not bringing shame to their name through irresponsible gambling, like going into debts, getting fired from place of work because of my gambling habits, and other negative ills associated with gambling.
446  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do You Use Crypto Signals? on: October 17, 2023, 04:03:37 PM

If they do have 80% accuracy, then anyone who uses them would become wealthy in a short time.
Do you use any crypto signals?
Most trading signals groups are a scam. If they claim to be making as much money from trading as they want us to believe why do they have people paying for the signals? Why do they also kick out anyone from their group who calls them out? Those 5 star reviews you see are fake. Theyhave either paid people off to give those reviews or they did it themselves using a different account.

The best signals you can have if the one you get yourself through research.
447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin gift to wife. on: October 17, 2023, 03:36:09 PM
I promised in a post on this forum a few months ago. I had a plan to give half of my bitcoin investment to my wife after marriage.[
Respectfully, I would not have given my wife half of my bitcoin investment. What I would have done will be to teach her about Bitcoin and when I feel that she is ready enough I would let her know about my seed phrase. We both would own the wallet and have a plan to keep investing in it. What I feel that having a separate wallet from your wife is just cumbersome one wallet for the family is okay as long as both the husband and wife are on the same page.

I thought it would be very difficult to convince girls.

It may be difficult to convince a human who is conservative and close-minded about Bitcoin. I have met males who didn't want to hear jack about Bitcoin.
448  Economy / Economics / Re: In times of war, Gold rises. What about Bitcoin? on: October 16, 2023, 08:28:35 PM
It's not yet time for bitcoin to increase because the crypto market is unique and different from the stock or commodity market.
There may be many reasons why the price of bitcoin has yet to start increasing, but we will not know why.
Maybe people still trust gold over Bitcoin, but what is clear is that there will be a time for Bitcoin to increase and we have to wait for that time to come.
If the price of bitcoin still hasn't been able to increase, we have to be more patient in waiting for it.
It is too early. I don't like these comparison between a financial asset that is barely 20years old with other financial assets that is a 100plus year old. The performance of both will be different. They will react differently to different situations and circumstances. Unlike gold and stocks which are centralized Bitcoin is not.
449  Economy / Economics / Re: Young people needs productive mindset to be happy in life on: October 16, 2023, 07:47:48 PM
I think if people really want to be happy in life, expecially undergraduates and young graduate they should learn not to give all expectations of having living job from the government.  If people create the mindset of being creative and productive in this era they will live a more happy life than putting all expectations of getting a dream job from the government.  A productive mindset is what young people needs to make life easy and worth living.
If you have read the book rich Dad poor Dad by Robert kiyosaki, you would learn that it is all about creating a mindset of productivity and the shift from the traditional path of going to school, graduating with good grades, and then getting a job. The book sets the young star apart to cultivate a productive mindset such that you are able to thrive in the midst of unemployment because you see the problems in your immediate society and you're able to create a solution out of it and monetize that solution. There are many grade books that encourages young graduates to have a productive mindset and this is one of the best.

Gone are the days when you rely on the government. There's so much that can be accomplished but the government will hold you down with their rules and regulations as you may not be able to spread your wings and fly as you want to if you were your own boss.
450  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do you not gamble on women sports? (tennis not included) on: October 16, 2023, 06:08:04 PM
Why is there low engagement in women sports from the side of viewers and even gamblers who are sports bettors?
We love more males sports. It has been right from time immemorial before women's sports. It is highly talked about, highly viewed, highly bet on.

Quote
Is it not easier to win on gambling on women sports than men's sport? or is there no gambling site offering odds for betting on women sports?
There are more men's game than female's. Check any casino website even when Chelsea female team and Manchester United female are playing, you'll never find them on the sports betting site.
451  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and it effects on: October 16, 2023, 05:38:19 PM

Fast forward to yesterday when I go into a betting shop to see someone, I was shock to see some of my guys in the neighborhood which I knew they where doing well, now looking wreshed an tattered.

One one thing I have noticed about gambling is that before you win a thousand box, they might have milk you of more than that.
[I just want to use this medium to appeal to the younger generation, please stay off gambling, if you must do so, gamble responsible, don't take it as your only source of living so it wouldn't milk you dry.
Good observations and to add to what you have said about the negative effects of gambling I would say that they are even worse negative effects gambling has than you have mentioned. What even pains me the most is that it is the younger generation, the millennials that are hooked on this addiction and it doesn't seem like we are stopping anytime soon.

On the internet gambling is glorified and the effects of it is toned down this is the world that we live in. The best anybody can do for himself is to talk to gamblers around them who are addicted and find a way to help them.
452  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Drake's Curse. on: October 15, 2023, 04:49:41 PM
I don't know whether I should classify Drake as a compulsive Gambler or as someone who gambles for fun. You know when you are rich and have a lot of money people cannot tell if you are addicted to gambling or not. In fact their judgement of you is lenience because of course you have the money and you can do whatever you want to do with it.

It is his loss not ours. I know I wouldn't bet $850k on a game.
453  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What if the internet permanently shuts down on: October 15, 2023, 04:04:53 PM
I'd love to be enlightened better on why it can be impossible that the internet can never be permanently shutdown, having in mind the shortcomings that I've mentioned?
As for bitcoin, The Blockstream Satellite network is one of the solutions that to the event that the internet goes down.

This is directly from their website. The Blockstream Satellite network broadcasts the Bitcoin blockchain around the world 24/7 for free, protecting against network interruptions and providing areas without reliable internet connections with the opportunity to use Bitcoin.

Blockstream Satellite ground stations, known as 'teleports,' participate in the Bitcoin network and transmit blocks to geosynchronous satellites.Blockstream Satellite teleports and broadcast it across a wide portion of the Earth. Anyone in the coverage area with a small satellite antenna and an inexpensive USB receiver can receive these blocks and ensure that their node is always in sync. It provides privacy too for your IP address.

454  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambler avoiding friends after a big win. on: October 15, 2023, 03:25:12 PM
He probably kept friends as a gambler because they'd be like him, so at times they'd lose some money and cry about it and he'd be able to tell himself that he's not so bad at this, others are also winning, or even better, others are losing more money than him, so it's all good.
I lost $100 today, but Frank lost $500, so at least I'm not at the rock bottom Cheesy
Also, if one of his friends won big their would be a chance for a celebration, maybe even he could borrow some money from the winner.
That's how degenerates think, so I'm not even a little surprised.
This is very hilarious. Imagine gambler's having this sort of logical and cognitive thinking but when it comes to placing bets they become emotional and irrational in their thoughts. Well it is being said that friends of a feather flock together therefore you are not far from the truth. A gambler who avoids his "friends" after a win knows that they are no friends at all. A friend is someone you call to celebrate with you after a win not someone you run away from.
455  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it easy to trust someone? on: October 15, 2023, 02:57:17 PM
A lot of questions have no answers, but only a few have the right answers to 95% of some questions. Well, let me start with trust. Can you trust a person, either a friend, family or a relative, with 100% complete trust? Let me answer myself first? NO I can't. I can't trust anybody fully 100% anymore because I have seen some though cases.
My answer to your question on trust is yes. I can trust my immediate family member and my wife. Based on my upbringing and my relationship with my sibling and what we have been through, I know that they are trustworthy. As for my wife, well of course she's my wife I got married to her in the first place because should anything happen to me she's the first person that will be called so yes I can trust her.

Quote
However, almost all of us here have a fiat bank account and some of us have what we call a personal identification number, which refers to an ATM pin that we use for withdrawal or sending funds out, so the question is a bit simple: WHO DO YOU TRUST WITH YOUR BANK ATM PIN? if you have a person that you fully trust with your ATM pin, can you also trust that same person with your seed phrase?
Yes. My wife and my immediate youger sibling. Aside these people, I do not trust any other person. My ATM pin and my seed phrase will be safe with them because they have knowledge about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.
456  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mempool Mismatch Between Nodes on: October 15, 2023, 02:37:20 PM

Also while I certainly appreciate all of the suggestions to try and correct the issue, the real reason for me bringing up this matter isn't to get my two nodes synched up so that they have the same mempool but to rather it's to understand why there is a discrepancy in the first place as this may somehow be some kind of attack that we aren't aware of presently that needs to be looked at (call me paranoid but we are competing with the most powerful and best funded organizations in the history of the planet, right?).

Thanks all.

I read through the thread and although I am not able to give my opinion to your question, this last paragraph got me. I want to ask that assuming this were some kind of attack as you have mentioned what are some of the measures you would have implemented to counteract it. What proactive steps would you have taken to not only halt the ongoing attack but also to establish safeguards that prevent its recurrence in the future?
457  Economy / Economics / Re: Europe unemployment rate hits record low, employment record up on: October 13, 2023, 06:29:02 PM
I guess some will ask why I mentioned both, and that is because record-low unemployment doesn't really mean that few people are out of a job, it might mean that they simply don't care about finding one so they are not in the statistics. And here is where the employment level comes into place.
Interesting viewpoint. When I read the title, I was happy because I thought finally some good news but reading your first sentence has brain me indifferent. Considering now that we have digital nomads and remote workers I can't say that I agree with your statement. What can Europe do about this? If people are not looking for employment doesn't it mean that they are doing okay? Because there is no mention that the government is providing any support funds for them help. It is a bit confusing.
458  Economy / Gambling discussion / Low cost but effective solutions to gambling addiction on: October 13, 2023, 05:57:22 PM
One of the solutions which is recommended by most gamblers on this forum for gambling addiction is "Therapy" . Professional help in the form of therapy. It is good and very effective but how many persons can actually afford it? There is a fee for each session that lasts for a duration of 60minutes. And there are more than one session. Therapy for gambling addiction is expensive. How can those who are unemployed afford it? How about the college student? Or the person receiving minimum wage. What are the other low cost but very effective solutions to gambling addiction. And typically how long will it take before the addict starts to feel more in control and less withdrawal symptoms?
Will totally appreciate your responses. Thanks.
459  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cross addictions is Just as Bad. on: October 13, 2023, 04:53:56 PM
If you are addicted seek a solution and not a substitution or an alternative addiction. In the short-term a cross addiction Mason to alleviate the mane addiction problem but if you look at it critically it is really solving nothing you are just stuck in one loop of addiction. We should always consider the long-term effect of addictions and not just the short-term relief we get when we get a replacement addiction.
460  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: October 13, 2023, 04:32:17 PM
I'd like to share my experience with you all. Even though I'm not currently employed, I went through a phase of gambling while I was working in the past, and the outcome wasn't positive. It affected my job performance because, as you may know, when you lose, you tend to dwell on your losses and constantly think about strategies to win. When we talk about work, it usually means we're not particularly wealthy, and imagine what happens when we gamble money we can't afford to lose, especially when we're not earning much.

I'd like to hear from those of you who have experienced this or are still dealing with it. Please share your testimonies.

This did not particularly happen to me but to someone who is very close. He is a gambler an addict at that and was somehow employed in the finance department of his company. Gamblers and finance or money do not mix and because he did not disclose his gambling problem to his employers no one knew how much he suffered from this addiction. This person would alter financial accounts to embezzle money just to fulfill his gambling urge. He continued stealing from the organisation coffers until an audit was made and it was noticed that monies were missing and he was the main suspect. He was later arrested and  through family intervention he was released and fired from his workplace. His family made effort to get him to be rehabilitated and I think he's making good progress right now.
