481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Unbacked stable coins are a big danger on: April 02, 2024, 10:59:02 AM
The problem is not only in whether or not the so-called stablecoins are backed by anything, but also in the fact that most of them are centralized to such an extent that their issuers can freeze them at any time. All those who use stablecoins for any reason are therefore always exposed to these risks - so the question arises whether it makes more sense to trust fiat currencies of central banks or so-called stablecoins, which are practically the same thing issued by private companies.

The volatility of Bitcoin can be a problem for those who invest in the short term and are also prone to panic - but if you are in Bitcoin for the long term, then this volatility can only be an advantage, not a disadvantage.

PSA: Most Stablecoins Can Be Frozen, Even in Your Own Wallets
482  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Buy passport or coldcard on: April 02, 2024, 10:39:26 AM
~snip~
I am not a fan of buying from resellers and particularly not from non-official shops. If I were to order the Passport from the US, I would be looking at an expensive shipping fee + import tax and custom duties when it arrives in the EU. On top of that, I will probably have to go and pick it up at a post office somewhere because they will want the fees paid before I get my hands on it. It all depends on what they use for shipping.

I personally have nothing against official resellers, so although it is always better to buy directly from the manufacturer, in this particular case it is much easier and faster to buy from an official reseller. Those resellers have already paid the customs duty and all the costs, and that's another plus because it's better if they did it in a foreign country than for your customs to do it - the less people know that you're buying such a device, the better, right?

As for receiving the package, in my case, everything is delivered to the doorstep, and all costs are paid to the delivery person (cash/card), although previously it was necessary to receive appropriate notification from the customs administration and then take a picture and send all the information so that they could issue a delivery authorization with an invoice for tax payment.

Considering everything, the best option is to have a physical store that sells HW and where you can simply pay with cash.
483  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FREEBITCO.IN SCAM, DEPOSIT NOT CREDITED - Resolved! on: April 02, 2024, 10:22:15 AM
Hello everyone, I have just been credited the money into my freebitco.in account. I really want to say thank you to everyone who helped amplify this case in one way or the other, I truly appreciate. Although freebitcoin still needs to do better in terms of customer support.

I am glad to finally have this resolved. Thank you all for your help 🙏
~snip~

This is good news for you, so even though you waited a long time, that wait still had a happy ending in the end. I don't know how much the members of this forum influenced that something was finally started, but obviously this topic in combination with the messages that were sent privately had an effect.

I hope you won't have problems with deposits in the future - and since your problem is solved, it would be good if you edit the title and add "Resolved".

Happy Birthday @LoyceV🎂
Thank you! I'm glad someone noticed after all those years Cheesy

You're welcome - it's really strange that no one noticed it before - it must be some kind of magic or it's the 3-body problem that is mentioned very often these days Smiley

Happy Birthday @LoyceV🎂
486  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Buy passport or coldcard on: April 01, 2024, 01:40:44 PM
My first choice would be Passport because it is one of the HW that inspires the most confidence at the moment because of everything they do and the way they do it. However, there are people who will never consider buying such a device for the reason that it only supports Bitcoin, and on top of that, it costs a minimum of $200 for those in the US, and a minimum of EUR 250 for those of us in Europe.

For many, the price comes first, then the appearance, and only at the end the technical details.
487  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] [banned mixer] Signature Campaign | Up to $120/W on: April 01, 2024, 01:26:12 PM
Thanks for the payment and the $1000 I received as an additional reward Wink
Of course, this is an April Fool's joke
488  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: This bitcoin bull market isn't over yet ! on: April 01, 2024, 01:20:43 PM
As we can see on previous halving the ATH happen months before the halving so according to previous history of bitcoin which were parabolic bull runs.

Either you expressed yourself wrongly or you are interpreting what you are looking at wrongly - because ATHs usually happen after halving, except that this year is an exception for quite obvious reasons.

While there are roughly 1,330,463 BTC left to be mined is expected to continue until the year 2140.
After that point no new Bitcoins will be created through mining and miners will rely solely on transaction fees for their rewards.

In less than 10 years, 99% of all BTC will be mined, and that 1% is as irrelevant as the year that many are fascinated by. Much sooner, miners will have to face the fact that the earnings from the rewards they receive in the form of new BTC will become greatly reduced compared to today.

Therefore I would like to get some feedback on this do you agree that Bull Market isn't over yet ?

The real bull run hasn't even started yet (at least as far as I'm concerned), let alone finished.
489  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FREEBITCO.IN SCAM, DEPOSIT NOT CREDITED on: April 01, 2024, 12:57:18 PM
I don't quite understand how to navigate this forum, I have only registered here in an attempt to reach TheQuin to get back my funds. Not sure why I'm being ranked as "loudmouth" with negative merits for voicing out a complaint.
~snip~

It is very easy to navigate the forum, you choose the board you are interested in and the topic that interests you in that board. I suggest you read the forum rules -> Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ, and especially pay attention to rule 32, which you break with Posting multiple posts in a row.

As for the negative merits and the "title" you got, it's an April Fool's joke Wink
490  Economy / Economics / Re: Church Business on: April 01, 2024, 10:44:26 AM
It is no secret that many have become rich from "selling" religion, which is of course completely immoral and wrong, but in some countries the free practice of religion is definitely abused. Even if it were possible for someone to declare himself a pastor or leader of a religious sect and found a church, I would forbid by law that those behind it could be financed in any way by their followers.

However, even the Catholic Church has some "mandatory" contributions that believers must respect in order to be a part of the church, and then it is difficult to expect that everyone else adheres to some moral principles and does not see religion as a business that will make them rich.

I don't know how it is in the rest of the world, but in Europe there are more and more people leaving the Catholic Church, especially in the large countries of Western Europe. In Germany, the number of believers has fallen below 50% for the first time, and hundreds of churches across Europe are being sold and converted into something else.
491  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do Darknet TOR etc. BTC crypto exchanges get known? on: April 01, 2024, 10:00:08 AM
Do you think darknet exchanges are created to help criminals? it means you didn't read the terms of exchanges. They're actually only help you to trade and protect your privacy, their services aren't to protect criminals. Remember, Bitcoin is using public blockchain and everything is recorded, it's not something you will able to fake it to erase your trace.

What ordinary people think is less important, and what those who pass and enforce laws think is much more important. Everything that "they" can't control is somehow illegal and bad, and all those who try to preserve their privacy (without having any bad plans) are suspects that are worth monitoring.

When we look at how the authorities around the world treat Bitcoin, we can see that apart from China and a few other "democratic" countries, no one is bothered when people trade with it with mandatory KYC - but there is a lot of bother when Bitcoin is mentioned as a decentralized cryptocurrency.

The fact that you can make a transaction between wallet A and wallet B without "them" being able to control it and identify the sender and recipient has been their nightmare since the day Satoshi let the genie out of the bottle.
492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sam Bankman Fried (scam banker fraud) 25 years on: April 01, 2024, 09:33:51 AM
Is that a real picture? Or a result of photoshop? I mean, how are those dudes so buffed up in prison, do they really eat lean meat, high protein / low carb diet?
By the way, was it really worth for Sam to do this for money? Look at his face, his every second will be a nightmare in that prison. No money worth for such a terrible experience that will last for years, Sam.

There is a name of the source, so you could check it - but as far as I know, it was published by a journalist whose name is listed as a source, and who supposedly has very good connections. The picture was published a few months ago, and supposedly the journalist was making a documentary in which one of the main characters is this guy whose face is not blurred.

Whether Bankman was in the picture by chance or not remains a question, but according to everything I have read, it is an original photo.
493  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FREEBITCO.IN SCAM, DEPOSIT NOT CREDITED on: April 01, 2024, 09:20:09 AM

This is definitely the worst experience I've had in my life with regards to customer support.

Unfortunately, you have nothing left but to be patient and hope that your problem will be solved one day. It is possible that both people who can solve these kinds of problems somehow got into life situations where they had to put their life problems before the work they lead. Of course, this is not something that will satisfy you and others who need customer support, but as long as the whole thing is operational and online, you should not lose hope.

That amount stuck on their site is not too big, and on the other hand, not insignificant either (it depends on where you live), but if it can be a consolation for you, most of us have lost some funds on similar things at some point, especially in the beginning when we were young and inexperienced.

495  Other / Meta / Re: CF unusual redirect on: March 31, 2024, 01:22:31 PM
In the last two hours I had to restart my TOR browser several times because the verification loop from CF.
~snip~

I wasn't online then, so I can't say anything from my personal experience, but I can advise you that instead of restarting Tor, simply click on the icon with three connected dots in the address bar of the Tor browser and select "New Tor circuit for this site". It is a much easier and faster way to fix problems when loading a page is too slow or difficult.
496  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FREEBITCO.IN SCAM, DEPOSIT NOT CREDITED on: March 31, 2024, 01:01:10 PM
In the past they’ve said FreeBitco.in is a 2 person operation with some assistance in marketing and coding.
~snip~
We get some help from a PR consultancy for the marketing, social media etc. and a friend of wetsuit's who helps out with the HTML coding and page design. Other than that it's just the 2 of us.

It sounds a bit incredible that everything is organized by only 2 people with a little help from the side, and that they did not decide to invest in quality customer support. It is obvious that money is not a problem, so I wonder why they allow themselves to have things like this happen to them, which bring them nothing but bad promotion.
497  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you still holding on: March 30, 2024, 03:15:58 PM
Are you still holding??
It's  no news that halving is few weeks ahead.
Don't  be motivated wrongly towards selling your holdings as you will eventually  witness how your  loss could have turned into profit or how you could have made more profit if you've hold but it might be too late then ...

Everyone probably has some exit point, but I stopped thinking that way a long time ago because I think it's much better to have Bitcoin than fiat. Of course, from time to time I will sell a small part of what I have in order to buy/pay for something, and I also regularly pay for various services using BTC as a currency because that's why it exists.

I honestly do not envy those for whom Bitcoin is just an ordinary investment, in the end they will never escape from at least trying to be somewhat financially independent.

To make our reply more fun[Not mandatory]
You could add a tag of Bitcoin  price (current while posting) at the end of  your reply

Something like this?

498  Other / Meta / Re: What do you think if Bitcointalk accepted videos? on: March 30, 2024, 02:27:46 PM
I think that such a feature should somehow be limited to at least the Member+ rank, because there should be no doubt that otherwise there will be those who will abuse such a feature.
How about limiting it to only certain boards? Or even just one, so the rest of the forum stays nice and quiet.

If the forum would enable this feature and then limit it to only one board, I think that something similar would happen to us as with the Press board, which only two users turned into their private board for spamming links. Therefore, I think it would be better if such a feature were available in most boards (some may be exempt), with the rule that low ranks cannot use this feature.

That does not look presentable! That kind of predicament will not give an assurance to anyone unless a rank holder like you presents it. I have not been able to do such a thing with my posts or topics as I am only a small rank holder. If there is a way to show the video within the forum by only those who are ranked Sr Member and above then it will be good. There are a lot of users who have been awakened in my signature campaign and these guys were not a part of the forum when the merit system was implemented. If you give access to full member and above then we might see a lot spam content in the forum.

I honestly don't understand what you meant with what you wrote. Are you actually saying that you can't do what I did (the way I presented the video)? You have a Senior rank and can easily post pictures on the forum, but what you lack is a way to do it. This option does not exist in the post options and you have to create it yourself, but this is how the code looks, so you can try it.

499  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [No KYC] Prepaid Cards and Virtual Phone Numbers are available on Stealths on: March 30, 2024, 11:28:06 AM
Hello.
We are also aware of that it's a little bit confusing. We are currently working on USD international cards to overcome currency confusion, but meanwhile a UX change could be helpful.
Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions!

You're welcome Smiley

I remembered that one member of the forum (if I'm not mistaken @stompix) in one of the topics discussing crypto cards was also a bit confused about fees - but I'm sure you'll find a solution for that too. Keep up the good work Wink
500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sam Bankman Fried (scam banker fraud) 25 years on: March 30, 2024, 11:17:48 AM
Spoken like someone who hasn't been to jail. Jail isn't just a rapefest... He likely won't be touched unless he wants it. This whole culture of just forcing gay sex in jail is extremely rare and basically never happens. So sorry to burst your bubble, but his going to be 100% fine and out in half the time with a intact butthole.

You are pretty sure that US prisons are the exact opposite of what we have been shown for decades in many movies/series when it comes to the US. But I would not agree with that, not because I was in prison, but because people who are in prison are mostly very violent and they show that violence also through sexual abuse.

These guys in the picture don't look friendly at all, unless you think they ended up in jail for stealing beer and cigarettes from gas stations?
