481  Other / Meta / Re: Why suddenly Cloudflare Human Verification is Coming Up? on: February 19, 2024, 02:16:39 PM
I noticed today that the CF check appears and that it is impossible to access the forum through Tor standard settings. Otherwise, I haven't had any problems with CF for a long time, and I can't say whether the admin changed something or CF has some internal problem - as far as I can see, today they have regular maintenance in the Singapore data center.

482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gary Gensler: "Bitcoin is not that decentralized" on: February 18, 2024, 05:59:29 PM
Not so long ago, GG had some much worse statements about Bitcoin, and this one about decentralization doesn't really make much sense if we know that decentralization is actually about something else, and not about who and where keeps someone's private keys. Perhaps it is a much bigger problem for us that miners from China (and other parts of the world) have moved to the US, and we can never know what the politicians in that country may come up with literally overnight. If Mr. T becomes president again, who knows what crazy ideas he might come up with.

As for who buys or sells BTC, it's a free market and no one can do anything there, and no matter how you turn it, someone won't like it. Let's remember what the reactions are when a bank refuses to process crypto transactions, or when a well-known banker says something negative about Bitcoin - and now that they have begun to speak and act positively, we again wonder where this is going.

Fortunately, not everyone sells, and it remains to be seen what will happen when (if) supply becomes greater than demand.

Rest assured I appreciate and I care of every single merit I receive.

Me too, because I'm not MS and every received merit means a lot to me because I'll be able to reward someone for a good post, so I try to always have a few sMerits. I hope that your merit band will report a lot of good news in the future Smiley

Also make sure to use the preview option to have finite view of your writing before submitting to avoid any further embarrassment, anyway sorry for your case.

Are you sorry that someone discovered him or that he is still doing the same things regardless of knowing that it is wrong? I'm just sorry that very few people on this forum have a moral compass that points in the right direction, and that it's much easier for most to turn their heads to the other side and pretend they don't see anything Sad
485  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Do Kwon arrested on: February 18, 2024, 11:40:53 AM
~snip~
But the criminal's agreement with the United States is valid only if he returns all the funds to the government. If the violation is discovered even after serving the sentence, the offender will receive a life sentence or more.
And this does not mean that after the trial in the United States, Korea will not stop hunting for Do Kwon.

I have already mentioned the case of the Centra scam and the person who was behind everything, so although it is mentioned that about 100 000 ETH were returned (unofficially), the man completely avoided prison for a fraud of tens of millions of dollars only because he cooperated (put the blame on the associates). Immediately after the verdict, he buys a luxury house, drives luxury cars, and no one asks him where he got the money for all that.

Don't be fooled that the laws apply the same to everyone, because it is more than obvious that everything is a matter of agreement, the ability of lawyers and the lobbying of influential people.
486  Economy / Reputation / Re: [FUN] Is DdmrDdmr even human? on: February 17, 2024, 05:49:51 PM
Wow, this was by far the spree I am reporting with more delay.
Long gone were the days when I started updating the spree while it was still ongoing.
The reason for this is because of the 280 merits our mutual friend distributed. Not a single one landed on your truly meritband, so it went unnoticed.
My bad; I have to improve my post quality, apparently.

It seems that this also had to happen once, and now at least you know how those who mostly get nothing in merit rains like this feel. I got 1, just enough to avoid category zero - but obviously we will have to try much harder in the future Wink

As the great Torrente would say ¡A trabajar, vagos! Cheesy
487  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [No KYC] Prepaid Cards and Virtual Phone Numbers are available on Stealths on: February 17, 2024, 05:31:10 PM
Thanks for the answer, it really wouldn't make sense for someone to enter the data from the card manually when we already have technology that makes it possible to pay with virtual cards in a safe and simple way.

As for the amount on the card, I don't know if it depends on you or the card provider, but I personally would like to see €300 and €750 cards. Of course, it is possible to buy 2x150 or 500+250 card, but that means paying cryptocurrency fees twice.
488  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [No KYC] Prepaid Cards and Virtual Phone Numbers are available on Stealths on: February 17, 2024, 10:55:47 AM
@StealthsNet, when it comes to your VISA International Prepaid Card, I did a little research and although it seems to me that the matter is quite clear, can you confirm that this card cannot be used to pay in physical stores when it is added to Google/Apple Pay?

Your provider states the following in its FAQ :

Quote
Can I use my card in a physical store?  Your card can be used in-store only if the merchant is able to manually enter your card information.
489  Economy / Reputation / Re: Which campaign has the most spammers? on: February 16, 2024, 05:47:42 PM
~snip~
you missed two cheap campaigns that are probably the closest to the title of most spammers at the moment.

Exactly, that's why the poll makes no sense and aims at something completely different from the question it asks. In addition WO should be some campaign or OP means Wall Observer where signatures are not displayed anyway Huh

My vote definitely goes to YoShitBit (regardless of the fact that it ended a long time ago) - those who remember well know what it looked like.
490  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is there any malware that captures your recovery seed when shown or typed? on: February 16, 2024, 11:33:47 AM
How can we be sure that these things are not monitoring your clipboard, your keyboard when you type totally random words that follow a pattern like 12 to 24 words? Or a screenlogger that takes a screenshot when it detects a seed on the screen and instantly sends it straight to the attacker's server? We know that it is possible to develop this.

If your computer/smartphone is infected with some malware/virus, sometimes there are signs that can point to it, such as increased consumption of RAM or processor, opening of programs that you did not start, redirection to random pages in the browser...

However, the only way to be sure that you really have a problem is the hard way, which means that you create a wallet, send some BTC to it and you are left without everything. However, there is a difference in whether the malware is programmed to automatically steal every small amount that appears in your wallet, or whether the hacker will monitor your balance and empty your wallet only when a larger value is stored in it.

I always thought about this when creating my wallets, I know you will answer that an HW is the best option in this case, yes I know that too.

HWs are definitely a higher level of protection, although we can discuss their security protocols and shortcomings here - but also emphasize that even such devices are not immune to human carelessness and stupidity. The most common way for people to be "hacked" while using HW is to be fooled by clipboard malware or to fall for the cheap trick of fake support that asks them to enter their seed in something that looks like the original interface.

If someone cannot afford a hardware wallet or make an airgapped wallet from an old computer, then the best way to avoid exposure to online dangers is to stay away from all those things that are risky, which means no porn sites, downloading torrents and clicking on any suspicious links.

Also, forget about inserting USB sticks and portable HDDs that come from external sources (friends, family members) because they can be infected even without their knowledge. Also, turn off Bluetooth when you are not using it, and protect your wireless home network well and do not connect to any public networks.
491  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Post quality matters than replying fast on: February 16, 2024, 10:55:31 AM
Now you are a good example for youngsters, I can see that such cases are recognized and "negatively" interpreted. Well, that can be your satisfaction, someone will learn something based on your actions  Wink

I would like to believe that he learned his lesson, but after I opened that topic, he was caught doing the same thing at least 3-4 more times, and I sincerely doubt that he won't do it again. It's a very cheap way to get merits, and when you find a way that works, you stick to it, no matter what someone says you're doing something wrong. What is most important is the fact that he has not (yet) been kicked out of the sig campaign because of such things.

He's a really good example... -> Link
492  Economy / Reputation / Re: Since Richbased locked his thread.... on: February 16, 2024, 10:35:26 AM
Please Lucius can you help me with the post link, I just want to know the member who said that and why he/she said that because the fact is that, in doing research and projects in the university, you can't state that your source was with the Use of AI and depending on the level of project or research, Ai detectors may be and if a student is caught using such they definitely don't go on punished.

It amazes me every day how some people are not even able to read a post, and the entire link slips past their eyes just because they are not familiar with the basic functions that exist on the forum. It seems that a lot of members don't know what a Hyperlink is and that the links set up like that don't even exist for them.

Regarding the use of AI for educational purposes, I don't really have a positive opinion about it, because it has become abused to an unprecedented extent - children no longer think for themselves, but only ask questions to AI. Although for some AI in the form it appeared a few years ago is a real blessing, to me it is completely unacceptable and extremely harmful for human society, especially in the long term.
493  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: A problem with creating a new wallet on android version of electrum on: February 15, 2024, 03:14:49 PM
The problem is not the name of the new wallet, that was the first thing that came to my mind, and I even thought that there was a limit on the number of wallets, so I deleted some, but that didn't help either.

What else occurred to me was to try to create a new wallet by opening each individual wallet and then after that try to create a new wallet - and then I managed to enable the "next" button, although only when I deleted the offered name wallet_1 and wrote only wallet 1, every other the option with the underscore disables the "next" button.

Strange to say the least, but I'm already used to various surprises when it comes to Electrum Android.
494  Economy / Reputation / Re: Since Richbased locked his thread.... on: February 15, 2024, 02:54:26 PM
@The Sceptical Chymist, I think you should be much more careful with who you give merits to, because I think many abuse your "service".
Yep.  I definitely try to weed out alt accounts, and I've refused merits to a lot of members lately (which nobody sees).  I've also stopped giving merits for posts in the gambling section, so I'm definitely aware that people are trying to game me and do my best to swat them like flies--but I've no doubt there are some who still get over on me.  Thanks for the feedback, Lucius.

Everyone can make a mistake (be deceived) and give merit to someone who doesn't deserve it, but someone who is a merit source and also offers a service like you is definitely the target of all those abusers who will do everything to rank their alt accounts as soon as possible.

But as one of their members says, they use AI tools even at the academic level, so this should not be disputed on the forum Roll Eyes
OK, that's fucking frightening.  How can I even deal with members who do that and request post reviews?  Most of the time I don't even know what country people are from when they send me PMs.  Ugh.

It would not be fair to put all members from a single country on the blacklist just because a part of them decide to do such things, but even if you wanted to, you would have to check every user in a way to check in which local board they write. Perhaps it would be best if the whole thing were not private but public, as is the case with the @fillippone thread.

By the way, what I was mentioning -> Plagiarism vs AI Posting
495  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will this stack make me a USD millionaire? on: February 15, 2024, 11:52:03 AM
And that amount can also vary in satisfaction from what country you're from, that 1 million could be good for about 10 years if you don't splurge on luxury in some countries like USA, UK or any rich EU countries but if you have that much amount of money in some countries, you're probably set for life like in my country, that would probably be enough money to get you through retirement, that is if you're smart enough on how to spend it so even if you're not working, money is still generated because to be honest, 1 million USD is probably not a lot of money in my country anymore.

The OP didn't mention what kind of life he's interested in retirement, but I agree that for any kind of luxury life anywhere in the world, $1 million won't last very long, but for someone who would be happy spending about $5000 a month (about $60k a year) that amount would could take about 15 years.  Of course, with a smaller amount on a monthly basis, the average person could live solidly even for 20+ years in most EU countries.

However, with so much money, I would not just spend without taking advantage of a good opportunity for a new investment.
496  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: A problem with creating a new wallet on android version of electrum on: February 15, 2024, 11:27:36 AM
I know I'm raising an old topic, but I have a problem that I also can't create a new wallet in the latest version of Electrum on Android, which is an upgrade from an older version. I have about a dozen wallets that I can open properly and they all have the same password, but when I try to create a new wallet the "next" button remains gray.

What is actually the easiest solution to this problem - or should I simply switch to another wallet, given that the Electrum team really annoys me with their "upgrades" that hardly make any sense (at least to me personally).
497  Economy / Reputation / Re: Since Richbased locked his thread.... on: February 15, 2024, 11:18:23 AM
These two accounts come from the same country (Nigeria), perhaps members from Nigeria can do further research regarding the discussion patterns or posting patterns of these two accounts.
~snip~

The team from Nigeria (with some exceptions) is increasingly in the Reputation board because of theirs "specific behavior", and that is a very mild expression. Whether it's mass creation of alt accounts, merits abuse, using AI to "beautify posts". But as one of their members says, they use AI tools even at the academic level, so this should not be disputed on the forum Roll Eyes

@The Sceptical Chymist, I think you should be much more careful with who you give merits to, because I think many abuse your "service".
498  Economy / Reputation / Re: Impersonation of my wallet address. on: February 14, 2024, 05:37:36 PM
So, let me get this straight: both users registered a month apart, both use the same local board, both are in a gambling signature campaign, both have the same posting style, both send each other Merit, both take a loan from the same user with the same centralized currency.... I see a pattern here. It looks like you mistakingly used the wrong wallet address.

Another one of those threads that were meant to justify some stupid move, and ended up revealing a lot more than the OP could ever hope for. It's incredible how people reveal themselves without anyone asking or accusing them of something Roll Eyes

The next real resistance is $60K.

The next real point of resistance is at $100k, anything below that is just preparation for the real thing🚀

That situation when you decide to go back in time and punish yourself for not buying BTC in 2010 - I hope they don't invent a time machine Roll Eyes
500  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will this stack make me a USD millionaire? on: February 14, 2024, 11:41:52 AM

By end of 2025 with 7 BTC and 70 ETH you will have a one million USD exposure to crypto
What are your thoughts?

Maybe 7 BTC will be enough for you to become a millionaire in USD, because for that to happen you need a price of 1 BTC = $140k+. If that $1 million can satisfy you in life, then you can retire early or whatever - of course when you pay the tax Wink
