521  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 29, 2023, 11:59:51 PM
England is again back into the match and they played a much better innings in their second innings where their entire batting line up contributed to the score except Harry Brook and from conceding a lead in the first innings, now they are on the process of setting Australia a target of around 400 runs which is an impossible task for them to defend for the next two days and i really doubt whether they will be able to chase them down.
The recent highest score chase happened in the year 2021 against Bangladesh by West Indies (395/7). In the chase a strong scoring should come from few players or the entire team should have their contribution. In such chase te top order should provide the right start and the middle order should accelerate and keep the score coming. However the weather conditions need to favour and with this chasing can be made easier, but this doesn't happen as the team will be with added pressure in the last innings.
522  Economy / Economics / Re: Population: Economic strength or weakness on: July 29, 2023, 11:01:25 PM
The population could be a blessing or a curse. This depends on the leaders of the country we are talking about and the people therein.

If policies are not good enough, the higher the population, the more devasting it would be. Another thing about the population is about those people that form the population (the masses), if they are nonentities, then there is nothing much positive that would come out of it.

Forget about increasing or reducing the population, it doesn't work, they are just litmus test as far as I'm concerned and it has different results per country. Once the foundation/system is wrong, it's a problem, the country can't get it right with either increased or reduced population.
True. Population has nothing to do with the present country’s economy status as everything lies down on its foundation and on how the country’s government enforce its laws and policies towards their citizens. Now, if the government is bias and does not offer equal opportunities to everyone, then expect that the whole country will be in a mess. Everything that has happened to the country does not reflect on what type of citizens they have, but what type of government that the country is taking its side.
Population have got its importance, but the major part is in the hands of the government. Well said, equal opportunity is a must and the governments itself have got discrimination which is the worst thing happening around in some countries. This surely have negative thoughts to emerge from the people who are suppressed. Population needs to be used in the right way and the same will surely strengthen the economy, but to manage a small population and a bigger population have got difference and more difficulty.
523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: are you still strong holding btc on: July 29, 2023, 10:55:53 PM
Of course I still hold it. even I still continue to buy it regularly. because for me investing in Bitcoin is not only until the halving period next year but I seem to be planning to hold on much longer, namely up to more than 5 years from now. maybe 10 years is what I would plan for. but my plans may change according to what will happen to this industry in the future or some other factors. but what is clear is that I am paying in installments little by little so that it doesn't interfere with my financial flow.

I think that's a good idea, and apparently you are very experienced in investing in BTC, indeed if we hold BTC for a long time it has the potential to make big profits, but of course it's not free from risk, because the BTC price could drop in the future.

yes, I also still like to buy btc if there is idle money.
No investment is without risk. Any platform for investing is risky. But when analyzing the level of risk, I think the risk in Bitcoin is very low compared to other currencies. Where by investing you can get back your money profitably after a long period of time but that is not possible in any other currency. I bought some altcoins in 2021, some of them have no existence in the market and some of have no trading volume. But the bottom line is that no other currency can compare with Bitcoin. Bitcoin is different in every way. Bitcoin is unique as the only decentralized asset in the cryptocurrency world.
As inflation have hit hard around the world, it is good to hold in terms of bitcoin than holding in the form of traditional fiat. With every investment there is risk and it is upto the user how he had understood the market and makes decisions. Bitcoin have got its own identity as it grow of its own without much of dependence. In recent years the market have come closer with the traditional market.
524  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will be the impact of this news on Bitcoin adoption ? on: July 29, 2023, 10:52:13 PM
Link to news
https://finbold.com/bitcoin-now-accepted-at-60000-ev-charging-stations-across-europe/

So, now bitcoin will be accepted as  a mode of payment at 60000 EV stations across Europe. Personally, I feel this is going to have a very positive impact on crypto adoption. More countries will hopefully take similar decisions soon.
This is great news. But let’s see how sustainable this news is. Because let’s just accept the reality that everything starts with big and surprising news story but we can’t tell as to how long the effect takes place.

In terms of bitcoin adoption, I think this is a good start. But still, we cannot expect for its price to be instant bullish   seeing a lot of breaking news are only good at the beginning but eventually has lost its essence later on.
Market to turn bullish out of the news won't be happening around. For now this is a news that could make big impact on the market in the long term. Now only the automobile industry is moving towards the electric vehicle sector. It takes time for the increased usage all around and then it also takes time for people to get used to cryptocurrencies and use it for payment. What is being availed by the company around the charging stations were really good and a needed one for the future progress.
525  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: July 29, 2023, 10:40:15 PM
Tbh it turned out to be a warm up match that's why so many changes in the batting order. At times it felt like Rohit and Kohli didn't want to bat at all.
Hope they get some resistance or some shock in the next matches because this tour was supposed to be a preparation for WC.
Indian team management has kept Rohit and Kohli on the bench today. They are indeed taking the series very lightly now. But Indian team has performed badly today for their decision. They couldn't even add 100 more runs after losing their first wicket today. They got all out in just 181 runs from 90/1. There will be nothing to surprise if they get a shock today by losing the match.

Its a golden opportunity for West Indies to win an ODI against a strong team. This win will indicate that there is still some strength in West Indies team. West indies cricket is at its worst these days, they were knocked out of ODI world cup for the very first time in the history.

Indian batting was fine until they lost the opener Subman Gill and after that whole batting collapsed like a wall of sand. Sanju Samson and Axer Patel were given chance today but they were not able to play a big innings today. West indies are going fine with chase so far and they must not panic to chase this small target.
The opportunity is well utilised by the West Indies Cricket team. It isn't an easy thing to win a match when they're at their worst. Some have mentioned India hadn't performed to the expectation. If so, in the first ODI West Indies team haven't performed to the expectation. Well bowled and the credit goes to Motie and Shepherd. Shai Hope played well and made it a winning match with the support from Keacy Carty who are the top scorers for West Indies. A much needed win for West Indies and this win will make them more energetic to win the last ODI.
526  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gamble! Easy or Hard? Let's talk. on: July 28, 2023, 11:57:44 PM
A drug addict can get better with rehab but a gambling addict can't get better with rehab because there are financial issues involved where emotions work harder. And it is this emotion that does not allow a gambling addict to quit gambling easily.

I beg to differ.
Addiction to gambling is mostly a psychological and mental addiction while addiction to drugs or alcohol is physical addiction. Logically, recovering from gambling addiction is easier if the affected person have the will and really want to recover.
Of course, the process is long and he needs professional assistance aside from the family and friends support.
Agreed, gambling is much connected with the self willing of the person. If the person himself have decided to stop gambling and have control over his activities then it can be easily stopped even without any kind of rehabilitation visit. As said the drug addiction is different from gambling addiction. With drug addiction things were different as the health will be much worsened out of it whereas with gambling it is all about the mental stress.
527  Economy / Economics / Re: Can your passion lead to an increase in your net worth? on: July 28, 2023, 11:53:42 PM
Let's try to first understand what we have passion for, there are things that we are pursuing after that will lead us to no where because we are only been infantuated to them by physical appearance but we lack passion for them, whe we take a look at things we often do alot most times, we could see that there will be a level of increasing passion about them because we do them often, then in so doing, they pave way for us to discover more opportunities in them to use and developed our potentials in them to increase our net worth over time when we are successful in them.
Understanding what is your passion and how this happened is a must. When you're strong on it, then it is time to explore and know more about it. Once you're confident enough it is time to follow it. In such process people may be against you and you may be the unsuccessful, and this is the place where you should have the never give up mentality. Another thing is the overnight success, everything needs its time and we need to be right in it. Our focus should be atleast 3 years time or even more, we should not focus on money making when we're following our passion.
528  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My easy way to teach your kids bitcoin. on: July 28, 2023, 11:40:38 PM
I like the idea of cartoons and kids learning about BTC from them, but rewarding them for watching an episode? I think that’s really bad. They either watch something they like or they won’t care about the episodes anyway if they watch something they don’t want to.
The ideas of cartoons sounds great and my friend uses that but he gets to mix it with the regular ones just to make the kids not feel like they are being punished by being compelled to watch something they don't. Another way to teach kids about Bitcoin is through coloring books or puzzle books  bitcoins. They books are highly colourful, engaging and stimulating. However the kids need a parent or guardian around to ensure that they are actively involved in the learning.
As said at the end, someone should be around to watch their activity. Doing so we'll come to know whether they're interested with the things or they need something else. Kids at their childhood used to spend much time playing and watching things that are much of fantasy. Some might really get interested into technical things. Anyhow we should try to understand their mindset and if they're not concentrating on it we shouldn't force them and make them involved. This in long term could cause hate against those things.
529  Economy / Economics / Re: How is financial stability defined for you? on: July 28, 2023, 11:19:01 PM
That is a must have for me. Starting a family is not something you can just easily back away from the moment you realize that you can't fully take on the responsibility, especially when there are kids involved. Therefore it is truly better to be prepared before you take a step towards that direction. Ensuring that you have financial freedom to be your foundation in starting a family in this state of economy is vital.

I highly agree, we must secure our finances before going into a marriage.  Unless we marry a super-rich partner, we must ensure that we are able to support our family at all times.  Love is not enough since it can't feed a hungry mouth.  So if we wanted our family to have a strong foundation, aside from respect, trust and love, we must make sure that we have the finances to keep it going.
In my view having financial security while you getting into marriage life is really important. However it isn't a must thing based on incidents happening around. Love can't feed, but it gives an energy that would make him/her move towards success. It is the thing that makes you grow together than making individual financial stability. I've come across many people who hadn't married to make themselves financially stable. By then they've crossed certain age and missed the love life and now they weren't able to get an arranged marriage. This is the situation when we go behind financial stability.
530  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'll always tell people about bitcoin on: July 28, 2023, 11:14:52 PM
It is good from OP and it is kind of responsibility every bitcoin user needs to have. In reality different people have got different experiences while sharing information related to bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. This might've stopped most of the people from not having discussion about bitcoin. Till date the spread about bitcoin and growth have taken place mostly through the word of mouth. In recent years individual businesses for their profit have advertised about bitcoin. So, lets not forget how things have happened and continue to support it.
531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is not a steady income haven on: July 27, 2023, 12:02:24 AM
Whether you are rich it poor like some persons used to say that they are gambling for the fun. We all need more money whether you have enough to spend or not. We can see that the rich people are spending more money on gambling because they have enough and they wants to earn more too. Gambling is one of the easiest ways we can make money without having a skill or having to go to school and acquire certificate. Once you know how to gamble and you have a favorite game you can play that can give you income, then you are good to go.
Don't forget the part about it being the easiest way to actually lose alot of money too. Gambling can also collect from you as you intend to enrich your pocket through this habit because it's a two sided affair and the losing side  is much more bigger than the winning but still gambling continue, I guess the feeling of humans actually winning something out of the feeling that they predicted it will never stop
gambling is unpredictable so we can not say that every bet we earn a lot money so in short word, gambling is not for income and yes we can not deny the fact that sometimes in our bet we can hit a bug jackpot which means if we have our luck in our side then it's easy to say that easy money will come to us. But if we don't  have our luck then losses side by side we can only get. So it's better to have the mindset that gambling us not for daily income.
Every bet won't be able to make it a winning day. Even the luckiest will face loss someday which is the reality with gambling. For this reason we can't rely on gambling as a regular source of income. There are people who are making their life out of gambling. This is through their jackpot win that have been invested on different businesses and with the revenue from the investment they keep gambling. Here the person won't get hurt even things didn't work for the day.
532  Economy / Economics / Re: Methods to cut food costs on: July 26, 2023, 11:37:11 PM

Grow your veggies in your backyard, this is the best solution just as some preppers are saying. It's not difficult to do since there are already tutorials on how to grow bitter gourd, beans, and some tomatoes or cabbage. I have potatoes planted in a container and after 5 months, I already got sacks of potatoes. I chose potatoes because I wanna have chips of my own.

Cutting food costs doesn't need to compromise health by eating only canned goods.
One of the greatest discomfort one encounters from the agro based side to living is the time it takes for the crops to grow to maturity and the loads of work that is required to run the farm. These, a lot of people don’t want to be involved with but, it’s the sad truth.
You can’t hope to cut cost on food when you go about buying all that you eat. That’s not being cost intensive.

The good news about farming these days is that, you don’t always need land. You could work something out with any space you’ve got, give it some lighting, plant between deep and shallow rooted crops, proper irrigation while, you redirect some of those funds some place else.
These days we've got more and more ways to grow plants and necessary food crops within the available space. Not many show interest and this is for the people who are at the urban. In the rural region it is really tough to make people get adopted to such things. As they'll be following the traditional way of cultivation and never move into such advancements considering many factors. As mentioned agriculture in the limited space will make people self reliant in meeting their daily food needs.
533  Economy / Economics / Re: Should I Use Emergency funds or Sell my Assets ? on: July 26, 2023, 11:12:47 PM
If you start using the emergency fund or the assets, then you'll get used to it. Whenever the inflation makes a mark you'll keep on spending to have the cushioning effect. This needs to be avoided. Good choice is to try to live with what is available. Inflation have caused heavy rise in the price of each and everything, we need to limit on purchase or we should look for additional earning source with which we can meet the additional expenses happening out of inflation.
534  Economy / Gambling / Re: Without money, does it still qualify as gambling? on: July 25, 2023, 11:55:25 PM
When there is no money involved that doesn't mean to be gambling. There are lot many choices available to start our gambling activities. The very first thing being the usage of demo account as well as the play tokens. When we play using those demo and play tokens we'll have the thinking that gambling is the same. Here they'll be able to make good winning and accumulate more play tokens. This gives the confidence and they start to gamble with real money. First of all they should understand that the script being used with the demo and the real gambling platforms were different.
535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 5 Bitcoins to never gamble again. Will you take it? on: July 25, 2023, 11:23:29 PM
Without any second thought I'll accept the deal and end gambling. For what everyone intend to gamble is the possibility of winning little money. I know I'm unlucky and for the same I won't be able to make 5BTC out of gambling with the small betting amounts. I'll just use it to finish the debts and secure my family's future.
536  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if salaries were paid in BTC on: July 25, 2023, 11:20:04 PM
In very few companies this have been followed, and I'm not sure of the company names. Even in those companies everything is paid depending on the willingness of the employee and not mandatory. For people who move specific amount of their salary into bitcoin investment can prefer to receive in terms of bitcoin and the necessary amount alone can be converted to cash for their life needs.

There is a controversy that the person could get additional or less salary depending on the varying price of bitcoin. According to me, salary needs to be paid equivalent to the market USD value received earlier based on current day's market value. Further it is the employee's decision whether to hold or cash it out. This is really appreciable effort, but not many support this.
537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you, or would you ever use a Bitcoin ATM? on: July 25, 2023, 11:03:37 PM
The usage of Bitcoin ATM is a expensive process compared to that of the exchanges. This makes people prioritise exchange services over ATM usage. Large number of ATMs were installed in specific countries and this makes the accessibility good in specific region. The widespread of bitcoin ATMs need to take place, and this will help with better usage amidst the high transaction fee. Most people are interested in setting bitcoin ATM as it gives good revenue based on the company that installs it. With time the installation of bitcoin ATMs were found high, but this isn't installed all around the world.
538  Economy / Economics / Re: Benefit from Higher Education? on: July 24, 2023, 11:48:57 PM
I wonder if higher education will help for entrepreneurship?
I am more interested in how much theory will help in this, because during a long study we do not get practice, this will be possible only when we start doing business, until that moment we will not be able to know how much it will help us.

This can help us if we need a license, but in some cases it can be obtained without a higher education.

Statistically, 95% of entrepreneurs have a bachelor's degree or higher and I wonder, for those of you who are involved in entrepreneurship, how useful was higher education for you?

For sure a lot of people are going to say that higher education wasn't really needed in order to become successful, I mean most of the famous successful people are dropouts and didn't even finish their studies right, like bill gates, steve jobs, Mark, etc.  In my opinion, it still would depend on how you're going to handle yourself, I mean most people are going to prefer getting that education since it's going to be a big help on your journey to becoming a success. For sure it is still possible to become successful even though you didn't have this kind of education and stuff, I mean a lot of people could argue that primary education is just a funny joke, and we should take it and go straight on starting on becoming an entrepreneur. But all of it will just depend on your strategy and mindset if you didn't have an education but have the right mindset, and your clever you could probably still make it. I guess one of the things that educations luck is just they just didn't teach us how we are going to handle our money, most of it is just aligned so that after you graduate you're going to become a worker or something like that, and if you dont didn't go out on that kind of situation you're going to be stack on that on your lifetime.
Why would really be needing to choose up if you could really be having both? Having educational background at the same time you do have those other skills that you could be having. It is really just that a wrong mindset for you not to get some degree just because you are pertaining on trying to go with the path of those successful person who doesnt have that educational background but take note that not all would
really be having on the same situation or condition ended up on being successful.

Always set up yourself on a course on which you do seem that it would really benefit you out the most and would really be something that would be beneficial on long term. Just dont make yourself
that being hyped on what you are currently look at on certain personalities because it  doesnt mean that they could able to do or achieve such thing you do able to do the same.
There are lots of factors which needed up to be check out first before making your step or decision.

It's quite funny that people always say that college is not necessary and they always compare the top billionaires in the world.  but they never looked back at themselves when making such lame comparisons. Gate or Steve Jobs, Mark ... they are all outstanding geniuses, they come from rich backgrounds, and such people are just a minority in the world's 8 billion population.  While we are just ordinary people, and born into a poor family, if we lack education, there will not be much chance of success for us. unemployed people always blame education for being lazy and useless.
Agreed, people have difference of opinion on the college education based on how they've succeeded in life. In all means education helps the poor as well as the rich. The education makes a person perfect for the society than making him millionaires and billionaires. Even the uneducated learn from others, everyone in one way or the other keeps learning. When you find yourself rich you need to stand equal with the educated ones where you need to express your thoughts. Here money doesn't get its importance, so everywhere learning happens, but the formal education lacks with the person who had made themselves high through hardwork.
539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: July 24, 2023, 11:35:05 PM
Don't conclude that El-Savadorans aren't in support for the use of bitcoin in their daily transactions, base on findings an average El-Savadoran own atleast about $30 worth of bitcoin that comes with their Chivo wallet and many have from there taken the advantage to continue with the use of their wallet and bitcoin in making transactions and the overall progress the bitcoin adoption has brought to El-Savador has open more opportunities for it economy development.
Most Salvadorians who downloaded the Chivo Wallet did so because of the $30 bonus for installing the centralized wallet, it does not mean that whoever downloaded the wallet owns $30 of BTC, they got it when they installed the wallet and they have spent that a long time ago. Salvadorians do not use BTC and so many of them do not even have a BTC wallet like Electrum. I don't know what you call economic development, but El Salvador is very far from being developed economically.
If tourism alone can yield an incredible increase for development, then i think that alone is a success to talk about with El-Savador amidst other opportunities that set in.
I didn't say tourism has incredibly increased development in El Salvador, i said due to the fact that the country is now a destination for BTC tourists, their revenue from tourism would increase, that is two different statements.
The adoption of bitcoin have paved the path for the BTC tourism. It is like a holy place that every bitcoiner prefer to visit. In some way the country is being made unique among the rest of the world. This courageous move need to be appreciated. We can't be specific on the economic upliftment, but the country hadn't suffered anything big once after the adoption of bitcoin. Even when the market have declined big the country didn't face any hard times. Even the finance minister said it is just a small percentage of our budget invested into bitcoin. The same will have a huge impact on the economy in the long run.
540  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Abuse ... on: July 24, 2023, 11:20:04 PM
I don't think it's an abuse at that point,... that's just another person's view on how to utilize every privilege they've got to gamble - anyone could decide to use anything the way they want as long as it doesn't affect other people or goes against the government Policies...
I keep saying that nobody enjoys spending unnecessarily... I dunno if there's anyone though buh I believe any sane person shouldn't like weird things..
About the drug? Hmmm, mhan I didn't even stop jerking when you said you normally use them.... As what exactly if I may ask? analgesics??

Sandra 🧑‍🦰
As said people have got their rights and it is upto them to use the drugs based on their mind. We shouldn't make a connect to the gambling activities. Anything that doesn't affect the surrounding can never be judged wrong, he/she does it for self fulfilment and we don't have the rights to question unless it disturb others or the surrounding. Another thing if the money isn't involved into gambling then gambling could've never been this successful and people could've never been this active in it.
