521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Have you made anything with ICO's? on: January 16, 2024, 11:17:53 PM
With bitcointalk being the largest forum, I would like to know if you coins were rag pulled in ICO's. Do you consider it a scam or legit way to invest? I came in a conversation with a person who made fortune in ICO's. So, I would like to know what you know about it. A thing to try or should I ignore?
Yeah, i've made profit from them, but i've also lost with them. But if you need to ask it they are legit, i would say that you should ignore them, as whole premise of your question is too broad. There are legit icos, as there are legit private sales, idos and ieos and what not, but over 99% of them are not legit. And the way you ask your question makes me think you most likely wouldn't find the legit ones. Even if you would find legit one, even if you did everything right, some scam most likely moons way better then your investment.

There are so many things that can be red flags, that you would need lots of experience to DYOR.

I think in bitcointalk too, there are some good threads on how to find good icos, but frankly you might be better of investing something that's currently undervalued. Icos can be overvaluated as well.
522  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Know when to stop on: January 15, 2024, 05:47:43 PM
One of the most important factor of a successful gambler is to know when to stop, most gamblers expecially the addictive type don't even know what is stop when it comes to gambling. So it's very important to;
* Stop when your losing is now getting to you.

* Stop when you are now feeling as is you can't do without gambling.

* Stop when you have a big winning, by channeling the money somewhere else so you won't lose it back to gambling.

* Stop when you are not even winning at all, it's not your thing.

* When your losing is weighing you down, stop and restrategize .
It's psychologically healthy to stop, when losing is gettin to you, it doesn't help with the outcome of winning or losing, except you'll make risks that you wouldn't otherwise. That can be either profitable or the opposite.
But otherwise your advices seem to be basically that we should stop gambling. Which is counterproductive, as we don't win without gambling.

Strategizing might work in some cases. But i would summarize your advices to: "Take a break when it's not fun anymore, or you have doubts that you should". Also if you are going over your budget is a good time to take a breath.
523  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Making too many picks reduces chances of winning. on: January 15, 2024, 04:29:15 PM
As gamblers, we love more action, so we tend to make more bets on a regular basis. However, experts say that when we make too many picks regularly, our chances of winning decrease. This is due to the fact that we won't be able to analyze all the games carefully that are in our ticket and won't have the advantage needed to win. So instead, it's recommended that we should value quality over quantity if we want to succeed in sports betting.

Share your opinion regarding this matter.

Edit : I see that some replies are talking about parlay. FYI, this is not about parlay, it's about making many single picks on a regular basis. Please avoid using parlay when sharing your opinion.
If you are not talking about parlay, i would like to see links on these claims and who exactly these experts are saying so. Because mathematically you have same changes winning every single time.

Parley i would get, because if that would be for tossing a coin for example, guessing 10 throws with 50/50 changes would give you 1/1024 change of guessing every one of them. But if you take them seperately you have a 50/50 change of winning every time, minus the house edge. In fact you probably have better change on guessing winners of sport events correctly, even though you wouldn't have 2x multiplier minus house edge with every bet like with coin.

"Gambling is my medicine so I can have a sharp mind"

I have heard something along these lines from my dad. That it keeps him active and social. I personally think that he didn't accept the idea, that he was poor. And gambling would somehow be his way out of the poor life that he was so ashamed of. He didn't want to seem like a poor man so he kept quite a good car. When he smoked cigarettes, he refused to roll them as it would make him seem like a poor man.

So when he won a bunch of money he lived like a rich man for a week or a day, and it was immediately back to being ascetic.

Another reasoning i've heard is from my friend was that he felt it with such a passion that this day would be his lucky day in casino. So he bought a beer in a casino, converted everything he had on wallet to chips. It was couple hundred euros or something like that. He put all the chips to one specific number (i can't remember which one), and lost. Right after he drank his beer and left to home. Even though it was over in a moment, i admit, it was a rush to watch. He just said to me that it wasn't such a good idea, and maybe he shouldn't trust his guts on matters like that.

I understand that it's a whole another beast to build, but one can dream.

Poker tournaments are more intense past time to me then regular casino and sports, as it requires constant awareness.
But i would happily do it from time to time for money especially if it would happen in the casino i liked and if i might get an airdrop from it with shfl Smiley.

A situation where the stake for the bet he won was $1k, the next statement you hear is how wish I knew I would have staked with $5k. The question is, the $5k is it an amount of money that you can be comfortable losing or it's just out of greed that you are not contented with the win amount the $1k gave you.

I've been wondering if these people would ever be happy. Because being satisfied and thankful for what ever i have, has been pretty major reason for my happiness in life. I am not kicking walls not selling one of my altcoin at the top for 20 bitcoins that i would have got at the time when bitcoin was cheap, or selling my eth when it was $12. Or not choosing that next scratch card with the top prize.

Because looking what i could have done more, or better, choosing otherwise, betting more or investing more in hindsight and being bitter over that is literally throwing my time and happiness away for nothing.

And not focusing on loss has been in my thoughts for a while, especially when ever i hear people saying they can make money short term with with martingale strategy. Because they don't seem to get that even though they are not starting by risking a lot of money There's a change that they are risking their whole budget in one chain of bets.

527  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - Drake, UFC, Everton, Alfa Romeo F1 Team on: January 15, 2024, 03:22:41 PM

I think it's just a beginner who is new to gambling because if he has been around gambling for a long time it's impossible not to know Stake, isn't Stake a big site where they collaborate with many famous people from athletes and others, even their site logo is also displayed on several sports, Besides, it's strange if someone thinks Stake took $22 even though they often give out free money and even on social media they share more than that amount.

Whoever it is, I'm sure it's only a beginner who doesn't know Stake because I believe that almost the average online gambler in this world knows Stake, I have a work friend who is just actively gambling online, he already knows Stake because he has seen the Stake logo when watching a match. Everton so he found out about the Stake site by doing research that they were a fairly large casino. It's actually important to do research so that beginners can know more about Stake.  Grin

Most online gamblers or people that are interested in crypto casinos will know Stake but how effective is it outside that? I have 2 buddies that watch a lot of UFC and although Stake has a partnership with the UFC and their logo is everywhere, they never heard of Stake. Granted, they are not interested in gambling also.
piebeyb, Blaming a scam for $22 is understandable if you realize that all these people who i've seen here yelling scam have entitlement mentality. They are center of the universe that require special treatment. ToS doesn't seem to apply to them, or even mathematical laws of probability, because their 20 bucks or whatever is what's it's all about. These people keep making ridiculous amount of noise, because during their childhood they got what they wanted by keeping shouting even more. But they don't seem to get the difference of abusing someone close to them and yelling towards helpdesk. So i guess they just need to get that out of their system. Reasoning with them haven't seem to be working.

babygun. I am pretty sure that majority of the people but are watching ufc for example because they like the sport, not the gambling, but as they are a perfect target group, it makes sense to put logos everywhere. Even though some people might not want to gamble, that logo will stick on their mind as they have been looking at it for big part of the fight. This creates a positive link in their mind to the sport, and it might work way better than tv ad for example.
528  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What strategies do you adopt that can help to make millions in sport betting on: January 14, 2024, 11:28:53 PM
After going through the thread below titled "Who says you can't be a millionaire in sports betting?"
I think it's possible using some sporting strategies. I wish to know which strategy have you been using to win big as a gambler.
Winning one multibet isn't really a strategy, or proof of anything but the fact that you can win with gambling as surely as you can lose with gambling.
But only place really where you can have strategies are blackjack, poker and betting in sports. Everything else has too high house edge and probability is against you in a long run on those. And you can win only with luck.

In fact casinos are trusting the math of the edge so much, it's only strategy they need to profit.

But when it comes to sports, i am currently trying out new strategies. I don't have a clue if they work in a long run and i have tried them such a short time that i couldn't make any conclusions of it.
If i am in profit after half year with same tactic, i am sticking with it. And i probably won't share it, as if it makes me money in a long run, it's the only proof i need.
529  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Between placing a wife on monthly allowance and opening business for her on: January 14, 2024, 11:20:57 PM
Marriage is a good thing as couples are meant to come together and plan how their marriage will work out for the both of them and it is advisable to empower ones spouse more especially the wife on what she will do in other to also ease the too many responsibilities imposed by nature on men.

Now there are some men that like their wives to just sit at home, take care of the kids and home while they go out to work in other to take good care of their family. And some of them place their wives on monthly salary such that at the end of the month they just send their salaries to them. Then there are also men that prefers giving their wives money to start up a business of her own in other to assist herself and the family as well. Now some men due to the fact that they established a business for their wives doesn't really care about the wife's needs as they will assume that her business can provide her whatever she needs.

Now my question is between having a house wife that will take care of your home and receives monthly allowance and establishing a business of her own for her which is more preferable and why?
I am sure you have good intentions on this but i am not sure if you realize how patronizing this sounds to any people living in a region where women have (almost) equal rights. Maybe you'll see it better if you reverse the genders and talk how some women allow husbands to have allowance for their business of their own.

My ex wife is way more educated than me and had a higher paying job. It never was an issue. My current partner has her own firm that's doing more than well. Neither of them needed my help for it, but obviously everyone needs support for their ideas, and people to believe in them. Talking down and telling what your partner should do with their life, or trying to crush dreams isn't healthy in any kind of relationship
530  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: You'll be a discipline gambler in sports if you have a real bankroll. on: January 14, 2024, 10:15:14 PM
Do you believe that you will be more disciplined in sports betting if you have a dedicated bankroll?

According to the article I read, when you gamble without a proper bankroll, you are likely to make mistakes. One of the main errors is chasing losses because you are using money not intended for gambling, such as funds meant for paying bills and rent.

Let's consider an example:

Suppose you have a monthly salary of $500, and you can only afford to gamble $50, which is 10% of your salary. This $50 should ideally last for one month of gambling. However, if you don't treat it as your bankroll and believe you can replenish it from your salary when you lose, you are likely to lose focus. This may lead you to use funds that are meant for your basic needs.

So the question is, can you manage with $50 as your total monthly bankroll, or would you rather increase it and risk losing money that is not meant for such purposes?
Yeah, i am doing this, i have a monthly bankroll, i am just calling it a gambling budget. And i won't go $1 over monthly budgeted money.

Pondering if it's enough is a matter of attitude, because if you don't believe 10% of your income ($50) wouldn't be enough, then 10% of your income from what ever income wouldn't be enough, as it's all relative, and if you think the wins would need to radically change your life. So it wouldn't be enough compared to your life expenses and salary.

As in statistically speaking, that $50 wouldn't make you any richer then that $10k, because percentually you would win the same. It's not as easy to grasp when you have only that 50 dollars in month to spend. When you are poor, it seems obvious that you would settle wanting less when you have money, but it's often not like that. When your salary rises, so rises your spendings.
531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How you can build trust in the crypto community? on: January 14, 2024, 09:51:17 PM
Took a quick look at your website: probably stop being misleading?

"Our Partners & Platform: Pancakeswap, DexView, DexTools, CoinMarket". Calling these platforms "partners" is like me saying that I'm partnered with Ethereum just because I made a transaction using their blockchain, and that I'm a partner of Kleenex just because I use their tissues to wipe my ass.
Okay, any other tips?
Well you still didn't remove them. But what exactly is the "trust" you are wishing to get? That you don't exit scam or that people would be confident enough to buy your token?

In case it's the latter: people don't buy tokens just because they trust you. If your token isn't offering anything new, and it's a generic token why would the trust even matter?
Your web page tries to sell it as becoming part of the innovation, but where's the innovation? It's not in your white paper. It doesn't have any development progress. It just has a roadmap that promises to release a detailed whitepaper, and some generic promises about adoption and holder growth. So have you asked yourself why would anyone be interested about this. Because people can just do their own generic tokens if they need to.
532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are your doing for now? on: January 14, 2024, 09:35:24 PM
Start of January is like blessing for crypto market. Crypto market start pumping from last few months but in January, it speeds up. Even Good news like Bitcoin ETFs get approved a days ago. But suddenly market gets unpredictable. I mean it went to correction mode, and then get recovered. then dump again And now trying to pump. Situation is confusing. So what are you doing now?

1 Buy Altcoins from Dip
2 Selling altcoins, to buy more cheap during halving
3 Doing DCA Only
4 just watching the market like me
I am waiting to get more money to buy the dip or even enough to dca, and i am kinda frustrated that i don't have it, as this is most likely last dip before new ath and ath after that.
So in a word i am bullish and wish i could afford to buy the dip. If there's going to be a dip after halving i don't think it will go as low as where we are now. Not in bitcoin or most of the altcoins.
Low caps might drop at first as all the money goes to huge marketcap coins and while after that mid caps. And only after that to low and micro caps, if ever. At least if history is repeating itself.

As i probably don't have enough money for entering with meaningful sum, i might go in with a leverage when i do.

But right now only thing i can do is to watch the market.

Why do I think it's a good investment?

Alephium has not experienced a bull run so far.
-cut-
Well that's a lie. Or what's bullrun to you exactly? This has risen 1775% since October 2023 and it's currently ATH. So if you are trying to sell us something, at least stick speaking truth. so that rest of your text won't be skipped.

Not even going to the fact that proof of work only works if there's enough distributed mining power that prevents 51% attack, so certain pow low cap coins are often very much vulnerable to that. Or that this thread is obvious marketing attempt where you shiill it with all your newb accounts.

534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does it looks responsible as woman telling husband you gamble? on: January 14, 2024, 01:12:29 AM

I am not sure how it would differ from you being a woman or a man, at least not where i live. If you are married, and not telling everything how you spend your money, i guess it goes both ways and your husband doesn't need to tell how he spends his money either. And it's totally ok if you want that kind of relationship and you want to keep your secrets. But if you have a strict budget and money is for both of you, and you want to plan it together, you might want to come clean. And then there's the question of why are you keeping those secrets? Don't you think that your husband would accept (or allow) gambling? Or are there some other reasons for it?

That being said, you seem to have a good grasp on how to avoid getting addicted and you are allowed to keep secrets. But if i can suggest that you might want to spend only your own money.

My question is do you think gambling every day is better? From his reasoning and points of narrations.
I don't judge him for it but, mathematically they are just risking more money for the win. From the point of winning it doesn't matter how you are gambling (aside from sports), because the mathematical possibility for the win stays the same tomorrow.

Gambling every day because it's fun on the other hand doesn't need justification, and i find it weird when people think they need to justify it with some pseudo math of winning.

Your friend's logic is flawed, and i guess he needs to make up stories for himself to justify it financially. Imho that's a dangerous road. Just admitting that gambling is fun, even if he is losing would be more healthy way for him to look at it.

My question>>>
* Is gambling really to be blamed about the laundry drug addict guy who engaged in gambling in order to gain more money and afford his drugs?
-cut-
Just because he tried to fund it by gambling how would gambling be the issue here? If that guy worked at the building site to fund his drug habits, would we blame building sites for it?

Irresponsibility and drug addiction is the problem here, the fact he thought he could fund it by gambling is either him lying or he doesn't know how income works, or he was just addicted to gambling as well. But let's not be that fast to judge his decisions, because some of them might not be "decisions", but just acts one does in withdrawal.

Gambling of course can ruin some lifes as it's not for everyone. Almost anything that you get hooked to and when you lose control is bad for you. Doubly so when there's so much monetary responsibilities involved.

But from what you write, it sounds like your country needs their gambling laws fixed.
537  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are Neobanks bad for society? on: January 12, 2024, 08:33:03 PM
Neobanks were created to have a wild-west playing ground again by evading regulations.

From a Neobank, customers can win big or get scammed big.
As usual for a bank, bank always makes profit. But for Neobanks, profits are even bigger because of evading regulation.

Sam Bankman Friend is an example of a Neobank entrepreneur. He created FTX.
What is your opinion?
They might have started as such, but escaping regulations wasn't their sole purpose. They just happened to be outside of any regulatory framework, but only because regulators were just catching up.
Compared to current huge exchanges, they were relatively small, and there were way more exit scams on them.

These days crypto exchanges or "neobanks" are obligated to follow same regulations as every company that deals with people's finances. Also profits and losses from neobanks don't happen because of evading regulations. Gains and losses are huge because you can basically trade any volatile token in them. At least in DeXes.
538  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How to stop noise pollution? on: January 12, 2024, 07:59:26 PM
A common problem in many countries is noise pollution. Noise pollution comes in many forms, such as car horns, loud music playing, naughty boys shouting and many other sources of noise pollution. Noise pollution has several harmful effects - excessive noise or noise pollution enough to disturb your sleep or work. Noise pollution is a legal offense in many developed countries and everyone obeys the law. But there are many countries where noise pollution laws are not obeyed by the general public and law enforcement agencies do not care.
What steps will you take against noise pollution as a good citizen of the country?
I sleep with earplugs on and top of that i keep my noise cancelling headphones. I don't listen to brown / white noise at all as that makes my tinnitus worse. But i might listen to 10 hours of sound of raining with a black screen from youtube. But that's just for protecting me.

And what i do for reducing noise from my apartment? I don't play music from loud speakers, i am silent after 11pm as walls in here aren't that thick. I don't use washing machine or loud machinery of any kind after 11om but i go to shower and live my life otherwise normally. I don't speak loudly or yell, or listen to music or watch videos from a phone speaker while on public transit and i don't get the people who do. I don't party in my house, but i party where ever it's allowed. That's enough for me imho.
539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: why do gamblers always ague alot? on: January 12, 2024, 07:41:22 PM
watching football at home or football viewing centres which is more convenient or preferable? Because most times if you go to viewing centre you'll discover that the agument is much and at times they make you feel uncomfortable to whatch the match. The people playing the game are comfortable and receive their payment, but people keep agueing what is meaningless and sometimes pick a fight because of agument. and this has made many to stop watching football in viewing centres despite the fun in viewing centre compead to home view.

Watching match at home or viewing centre which is more convenient or preferable?

So what is your experience on Gambling viewing centre and what have you learn and how were you able to handle such situation?
I don't know why that would even be a question. Watching at home maybe with friends if you have friends that love sports. Or alone. Alone is way better then with a people you can't stand. They are arguing in the watching centre most likely because their friends don't wan't to hang out with people that are arguing and  tries to pick up a fight, just because his views on the sport are so heated.

So they lash out in public to someone because they have a need for that. But why would you want to spend time in same space with someone that annoys you that much? I would understand if that was an only option to watch the sports but it most likely isn't, and you pointed out the alternative too.
540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ETF approved, next Ethereum ETF? on: January 11, 2024, 11:59:53 PM
As we all know, the Bitcoin ETF is already approved. So, do you think the next ETF for Ethereum will be approved as well? Many companies, including BlackRock, have filled the Ethereum ETF as well. I believe the line is already clear to approve the Ethereum ETF since the SEC gave green light to the Bitcoin ETF. We have noticed significant price movements on Ethereum since Bitcoin EFT was approved. I don't see any reason not to approve the Ethereum ETF as well. The deadline is May for the Ethereum ETF. We have to wait for that. What's your thoughts about Ethereum ETF?
I would see it getting more support than bitcoin, especially if it scales. PoW is just harder to sell. But i see a lot of issues with it. Bitcoin as a pure currency is an easier concept to explain and adopt than explaining smart contracts, why L2s exist and why wallets are getting hacked left and right and why cross bridges are dangerous.

In short: i would trust bitcoin to my 80 year old mom, but i wouldn't let her use a metamask. She would totally didn't understand where it's safe to connect and where it's currently connected. Also explaining dexes to her would be near impossible. And she would lose everything if she ever needed to use it.
