Just misclicked on Speculation: guys there is a whole bunch of other people out there!

Scary, isn't it?

Let's build a wall.

Only if we make them pay for it.

bitebits! dude!  You gotta be more careful!

An interesting writeup from one of the Winkelvoss bros.
https://winklevosscapital.com/the-case-for-500k-bitcoin/

Good read.

I don’t think we can to 500k as quickly as they say. But 50k seems reasonable.

PM, You talk like you had your eyes closed through the last few 10-20x runs...   2.5x on the previous ATH is where the serious work begins.  They are running out of places to stuff the free money.  Our time will come, and I expect 100k+ before the end of next year.  The global financial system is a powder keg.  The fuse was lit almost a year ago.  Awaiting fireworks, or heavy rains - one or the other.

wow long time no see, i was wondering from time to time, welcome back @explorer

Grin Thanks!  I had Crypto on ignore for 2 whole years...  maybe the occasional peek

What made you put it on ignore? Something like this?

A contributing factor, for sure  Cheesy  I let it soak up way too much of my time and energy.

Considering Monero transactions. May will still be best month, but trend is up so I have great hopes for September to reach new ATH.

What is your data source?  Many of my links are out of date after my hiatus...

Is there an up to date version of https://monerobase.com/index.htm    ?

A bullet point overview of the last 2 years is exactly what I need.

Yes, the masses of money that were printed are impressive, but, paradoxically, this does not prove that this money "has" to go into bitcoin and in fact, most of it went into 5 top stocks plus Tesla instead. Markets are very complex. Like today, inflation was unleashed, but gold and btc said... "meh" collectively. I guess, because it was all pre-announced.

Yet the 'money' going IN to these stocks is not vaporizing.  Most likely it is simply transitioning to a more undervalued asset class.  Like, perhaps, crypto.

We'll be riding the waves for however long, but I can't in any case see it dragging 10 years.  The financial implosion is well underway. Simply holding with inflation should deliver large $ gains.

OT: The things I do for better peace of mind. Kinda sad.

C'est la vie.

I remember the days of full pages of ignores.  I suppose I will have to update the list, as most of the old sock puppets seem to have faded away.  A new ATH should bring a new crop, I'm thinking.
549  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 23, 2020, 01:09:03 AM
It's managing to stay up back over .008, I think that says something.  As the big beast rises back up again, Monero will too but I also think it will continue to increase in value against BTC.

My gut feeling is that we will not be unhappy with where XMR is by the month end and into Sept.

Beyond that things are difficult to call as I think Bitcoin has been going through faster, then slower blocks and difficulty weirdness.  This will settle, though. The test of the mid $11K range was a little odd and it should be back pretty quickly to a better price.  Too much is going on that is positive for Bitcoin right now, no one bar the miners are selling.  Who the hell wants to cash out, or even spend Bitcoin right now?  It can't stay at this level for long.

We will just have to wait and see, but short term it's looking good and for now XMR should ride it well.

My mystical chart has BTC breaking upward mid September.  XMR seems as always to be a wild card, but its due to take a bigger chunk out of BTC.  Overdue, methinks.

In the past when we see these sorts of big moves they tend to get smacked back down into the sub 8 range.

*sigh* lol.

Yup... Bitcoin as always dictates the market.  Sub $11,500 was a bit 'ouch' but normal service will be resumed soon.

OK, let's try this again.

Such volume, much W0W

What's the exchange to watch these days?  2 year break, and it seems crypto didn't sit still.  I mean, other than the fiat price of monero.

I think we just popped a hundred bucks, gentlemen.

What'd I miss?  Grin

What are you guys talking about?

I could see Polo delisting XMR for it's privacy angle.  I could see the XMR market pairs delisted.

But delisted because of Volume?  Price?

1.  Today (as is fairly usual) XMR is #5 in volume there.
2.  Today XMR is down ~6% which is just about in the middle of the pack of the Alt slaughter.

I think money MAY be starting to flow from ALTS to BTC.  As much as I hate to see XMR suffer... I think that would be very healthy.

Bought by Golman Sachs, I think we can stick a fork in that exchange. Shsss trying to buy cheap

Would be nice to get my coins out before the fork goes in...

The two responses we all get when mentioning seasteading is "what about the waves" and..."pirates".

So ya, we're aware.

That floating platform I spent last Sunday on has been there since before 2010 (when that news article about a cyclone hitting Tahiti came out).

That platform is about 1/4 the size of the platforms we will be building (25m x 25m).

Personally I plan on building an underwater bar. So maybe we can head down to the underwater bar, grab a pint and wait for the whole thing to blow over.

What about living costs?

I mean... My (maybe flawed, mind you) logic tells me it would be much more expensive to have the same equivalent "luxuries" we can have on land. Mainly because of logistics expenses and economies of scale. If that is the case, whatever you save on tax you end up spending it anyways (or maybe more).

The underwater bar sounds like an awesome idea.

Better lost spent or just burned than giving it to a government that will waste half, and use the rest to devise ways of getting more out of you next year.
556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: July 02, 2018, 05:28:02 PM
My bet was before end of August.  I too feel any buys now will be well-rewarded soon.  XMR 2020 was right on the 200 MA.  Monero is heading from 'strong buy' into 'insane not to' territory.  It's just when the optimal point is reached, I am greedy but I want to buy at the bottom!

Of course we aren't the only ones studying it anymore and Monero runs up tend to be rather fast.   Undecided

.0177 was the recent bottom, won't see that again for a while.

*ahem.*

A little optimism, please!

incoming

My connection is too clogged right now.

Incoming what?

Death? Glory? Cruise missiles? Pizzas?

tl;dw summary.  Wait For It...  (may include all of the above)

559  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 24, 2018, 10:02:46 PM
For over 48 hours Monero is moving contrary to the entire alt-coin landscape.  NOTHING else is holding up through this storm.  Coins are down 3-12% on the day, and XMR is up 5%.

Something is undoubtedly going on here...  What is it?

Either some serious news is coming, or there is buy pressure from funds coming in post exchange hack, or something?

I just don't think "Monero is a good project" explains these circumstances.

Mind you... I am not complaining. Smiley

unexpected.  Totally acceptable  Cool

Of course, I didn't expect 0.017 either...

In the absence of @aminorex these days, I nominate @Febo as our cheerleader-in-chief.

He's doing a great job of keeping our spirits up, our eyes on the prize, and our skin in the game.

Thanks @Febo

Ha, I dont think I can be really that good. I have no ideas of any technical analysis or something similar.   But I do know that always after rain there comes sun and also the opposite.  Although might look silly at first, but I fell right now way more calm as I did in November 2017. Back then with months and months of constant growth it looked all so unreal and it was obvious it will at some point went down a lot. And it did.  Right now when it mainly does go down, I know it will sooner or latter stop. And we all know what comes after rain.
