I am very interested to hear what masterluc says next. I doesn't seem like the markets psychology can turn bullish again after this level of beating so soon. This could very well be another 2014/15
Then have a look at that whopper of a green candle growing right now...

Is this the dump to finish them all?
Nice greenie so far

There has to be uncertainty in the market, otherwise there would be no reason for people to panic When BTC fell 80% after its December '13 high, it took over a year to reach the bottom. It's barely February. If we really are entering a bear market, I'm guessing it's going to be a quick one. More likely, it's just going to be a very turbulent (yet profitable) year in crypto. I agree, after Gox, Bitcoin really did look in peril. It doesn't look like that now. I am hoping for a quicker bounce back that that godawful 2014-2015 grind was. Let's hope the bottom is definitively found soon. On almost every forum u read that bitcoin will bounce back up, I really do hope so. But how can everyone be so sure ? Because it's been doing it for 9 years, getting stronger every time. It would be beyond strange for it to just. stop.

People, things are not complicated, this is not some kind of natural disaster, what is happening is that scammers at Scamfinex have to produce 1 US$ for every 1 USDT they produced out of the thin air, or they will go to jail. No matter how low the price is, they have no choice but to sell BTC, there's no other way they can produce US$. Point is they can not sell your coins, they can only sell theirs. It's that simple, why would anyone care if they loose the whole sum they've acquired through scam? They can either sell enough to cover the scam, or fail and go to jail. Sooner or later they will run out of BTC and the line will be drown under, their BTC will be in someone else hands, but your BTC will remain in yours. It's that simple, as someone said 1 BTC will always be 1 BTC, there's no reason to fear of their failure. Only way you can fail is to sell your coins, otherwise you can not lose because this is not your game that is happening right now.
What makes you think they can’t sell “your” coins? Simple. YOUR coins are in YOUR control. If they are on an exchange, they are NOT YOUR COINS. Not that User705 needs to hear this, but there are a lot of noobs that need it drummed into their heads repeatedly. My bad I thought you were implying they can’t sell the coins you think are “yours” on their exchange. I think you are probably correct. My statement was more of a support to yours

I have a strong gut feeling something like this is going to happen: I remember a time when dinosaurs roamed the WO freely. Now they are such a rare sight. I came close to skipping pages today. This can't keep up. Or I can't. These were some of my favourites from the triple digit stone age. Haha! I saved a pile of them as well. One day I will have to dig out that drive and get them posted back here

The major source of energy in history is wood, not coal.
No, it was human pods - like in the matrix. Remember?

Merit is going to do nothing to prevent spam accounts unless merit throttles their posts somehow - otherwise they dont care about what their merit score is
How about - no signature allowed below xxx merit. Fuck 'em right over.

You seem to be a little unfocused yourself. Go back and read the whole argument and you will find that it was not about the gold backing per se but about the stating of an opinion as a fact. What the fuck is a "we rock in your pocket"?
And in any case, you were not a part of that argument, so but out!
But, but,.....but, he has a superiority complex now that he is a Merit source. Only his opinions are valid. More bullshit posting for his mindless accusations and ad hominem attacks at your worthwhile arguments. Merit source or not, he is incredibly close to being my second ignore. Your tolerance is astounding. Mystifying. If it means you stop quoting him, I vote yes.

Fair enough, though I do hold the probability for there to be shenanigans in, pretty much any, custodial precious metals arrangement to be very near metaphysical certitude.
Well, I don't disagree with you on that. But you never know for sure, and hope springs eternal. As does human nature, ensuring that it always ends the same. Whoever is in charge of the money will eventually steal it. Opinion, based on history.

Funny thing is that although price has dropped a lot, hash rate keeps rising... 30 days ago it was 300 MH/s and 60 days ago was 150 MH/s
Hash Rate: 756.78 MH/sec Wow. Seems like yesterday I was wondering if we'd ever be able to hold above 20 for any length of time https://chainradar.com/xmr/chart looks like a spike to 1GH/s the other day. From 6 to 80gb, not a bad year Current: ~92G rising really fast. Look at those foothills... How long until TH/s?

One other thing; considering we're moving to the Monero forum (which I personally think is a fantastic idea as crypto is far greater in appeal than just BTC or any one single project now), but does that this mean this thread is now considered legacy? I agree with the sentiment behind the move but I do enjoy the ability to converse on different projects in the one place. The getmonero forum is used for official notices, and that's about it. Most action seems to be on reddit these days, as BTCtalk has been mostly abandoned for a long time now. A few of us legacy lurkers still around, for the reason you cite, but everything is at least second hand here.

do you guys think that BTCP (co-fork of ZCL and BTC) could have any impact on Monero? By impact I mean BTC holders that want to invest in a privacy coin could potentially prefer BTCP to Monero due to its name
Come back with some details. How much premine? how much dev/marketing etc tax? what emission curve? Rich list? default privacy or opt-in? how large/active development team? How many actual full time cryptographers employed? What company is backing it? People 'investing' in it because of its name have little money, or soon will. Looks like yet another (#30?) cash grab bitcoin fork, but I couldn't be bothered to waste my time looking it up. Impact on Monero? a small boost once a small percentage salvage a small part of their 'investment' and move it to Monero. The con-men running the show will likely put profits to Monero also before they abandon their fork salad. Add: Since I tripped over it, I'll share this tidbit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/7ud8bl/what_do_you_think_about_bitcoin_private/
