Also the 'we have liftoff' / 'fasten your seatbelt' / 'CCMF' / etc forum indicator is in force.

Meaning prepare for a face plant?
1322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 26, 2017, 09:50:42 AM
Such a vacuum is truly anhorrent.  It will not stand.  I revise my estimates on XMR to 200 in October, 1000 in March, and 5000 before 2019.

Completely agree on vacuum instability and timeline.

IMO the modulating factor will be hardware wallets. Huge speculative energy is tending to gravitate around assets that are either on the Ledger or the Trezor. (It turns out mainstream VCs are somewhat techno-illiterate.)

The moment that changes then you’re looking at Monero as a Top 3 coin.

Dragging this up, as we are closing in on what I feel will be a huge swell to the market.

I just gave a Nano S to each person I know owning crypto, due to Ledger's imminent support of XMR.  Not very many, to be sure, but this is the beginning...

The poll seems too wide-range now, less than a week away.

Let's play a quick game (no prizes just fun) - name your prediction for 31/12/2017 at 23:59:59 GMT on Bitstamp.

I say $17111.

$1673

$1340

I picked 12k-14k on the poll when it was posted, so to keep within that theme, $13603.

Price x5 'unexpectedly'.  That sends the smell of mining profits wafting out, resulting in a big jump in hashing to combine with the recent browser bonanza and the perpetual bot nets.  Huge development news and expectations, exploding reddit subs, etc.  Monero becomes popular.

Yeah but I think the largest mining increase was before the latest doubling, I'm not positive of this. I wonder how much the cryptonote would have to be altered to thwart Asics if they are running? I know NobleSir is talking about changing the Algo just because he doesn't trust it (which makes no sense to me at all from what info we get here) but for asic resistance and QC resistance would make a much more compelling argument.

Will multisig and bulletproofs both be included in the next hard fork?  I mean the official release, not beta.

AFAIK Multisig Yes. I don't even know if bulletprooofs are in testing yet?

Yep.  bullet proofs on the testnet already Smiley   Sounds to me as though both are progressing well thus far.   To the best of my knowledge (admittedly not the best) both are likely to be in the next protocol upgrade, barring catastrophic testing issues.
It feels like a few weeks ago that I first heard about Bullet Proofs.  Now they are likely weeks from release.  The Monero Team is Fast.  Spaceship Fast.  Never thought I'd say that  Cheesy
1325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 24, 2017, 09:44:35 PM
So much adoration for this coin. There is something about its anonymity. Vastly spread in south America. If the technology improves and XMR becomes more comfortable (light wallet…) the price will probably rise. 307$ value right now (include dip).

XMR.to integrated into Monerujo wallet in beta testing.  From what I've read, if you enter BTC address in the send to field of the XMR wallet, it automates the XMR.to process seamlessly.  Holy @#^# Batman!  Huge.  Just huge.  Especially given that XMR.to covers the BTC fees.

Is Monero transmuting itself to keep up with Verge?

Nope, Monero has given even trying to compete.

Is Monero transmuting itself to keep up with Verge?

Lord, we can only hope so!  Verge is SOOOO advanced.

Is it really?

Yeah its the most advanced pnd shitcoin (right now)

I thought BitOnionDarkTorCoin was the bestest shitcoin right now?

Take a look at monero hashrate distribution chart by pools

Chart was taken from https://monerohash.com/#network

add to this list a one more large pool "Mining pool hub" with ~23Mh + few more pools with total hashing speed less than 10Mh

Could someone tell me where are sitting the rest roughly 300Mh of Monero network hashing power?
Or did I miss something?

It's pretty interesting, I know alot of enthusiasts have switched from ETH and the browser mining now but It really makes you wonder if ASIC's are here.

YAY, Coinbase fuked me this time! For the first time I sold on a high (instead of holding and watching the process repeat) and tried to cash out when BTC was still at !7k and friggin Coin base wouldn't let me sell and now BTC is dumped and I'm stuck with it. Luckily I didn't have that much. These exchanges are driving me nuts, even when you get it right they screw you.

Keeps you from blowing it at the casino though... Just a thought  Cheesy
1329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 24, 2017, 07:57:03 PM
Monero is the state of the art in money.  Nothing better expresses the qualities of money better than Monero.  After Bitcoin has gone to zero for its political deadlock and unsuitability for use, Monero will still be money.  So yeah, but not for long: By the time it passes 0.1 BTC it will be poised to rapidly surpass 1.0 BTC, then eventually 10BTC, 100BTC and perhaps even 1000BTC, depending on whether or not a settlements network can be salvaged from the ashes of Bitcoin.

That is both a bold and somewhat frightening prediction.

I am curious of peoples views of the emerging blocksize/fee issues bitcoin is facing, as well as the attacks on BTC currently - particularly in regards to Monero value, both from a speculative investment perspective as well as a project.

My own views here are just forming.. and frankly I am a bit adrift.  Not sure where I see things going...

IF BTC can fix its shit (and I don't mean fix, just triage) soonTM, it has potential to hold and increase value.  Mostly looks like BTC hodlers huddle under the covers, waiting for mommy to turn the lights on though, and as far as development, um... Corporate Coin, Corporate Wars.  Personally, I saw what was being written on the wall in 2013/14, and found Monero almost immediately (thanks aminorex, for the heads up) because I was already looking for it. By 2015 I had become a maximalist.  There have been some hurdles, but every day, my reasoning is reinforced.  Bitcoin is a dead horse.  Sorcery may ensue, but even a BTC resurrection won't take away from XMR going places, and faster than most will be able to comprehend.  10-1000x BTC?  That would require a very sad outcome for myspace BTC.  There is a LOT of money at stake now, so maybe it will be made to live and grow, but it will never be all that we once thought it was, or wanted it to be:  Monero.  So far, so good.

1331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 24, 2017, 06:35:41 PM
Coinmarketcap should include Bithumb or exclude it, not that half day they include it and half day they exclude it. Then price goes up and down way more. Well it basically dont, but just looks like it does.

Livecoinwatch has started the same shit.  Looks like they've dropped Bithumb from the average, though they keep it on the list, and show it as the lion's share of volume still.  I generally watch polo BTC:XMR anyway, which tends to sit right at the LCW average when Bithumb is excluded.  I find LCW a better monitor due to live updates that display on Chrome tab, and a dark theme.  Refreshing CMC is a pain in the ass, and blindingly white.

Hey guys

As this is a speculation group I have a simple question: Do you guys believe XMR will be 0.1 BTC someday ? like Bcash

Briefly, in passing.  Brings to mind a random conversation with a fat friend, year ago.  I'll skip to the relevant bit: " 200 pounds?  Ya I was 200 pounds once.  For about 10 minutes.  In 8th grade."  Some things are fleeting  Wink
1333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 23, 2017, 01:39:54 AM
Based on the February prediction, we are probably looking at moving up to 6-7th place in terms of marketcap.  Ideally we will be above DASH.

My own prediction?  $550 on Feb 21st  Shocked

On a 30% dip  Tongue
1334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 23, 2017, 12:46:32 AM
Back in the Top 10 again.

That's where it should be. What is Bitcoin Gold anyway, when we have Monero. Grin
It should pass other stupid coins like Iota and Cardano.

Pretty amazing at any price, really.
Community, contributors, tech, ethics.  Nothing else in this space comes close.
1335  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 23, 2017, 12:36:49 AM
I didn't think bitcoin could be this volatile with the size of market cap it has now. I was wrong. It's going haywire right now!

Bigger market cap, but possibly fewer coins in the float, definitely 1/2 the new coins mined per block.  Land Rush in progress.  It's just that the train is over full, and can't make the grade, so it has to shake like a wet dog, and try again, with MORE STEAM.
1336  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 23, 2017, 12:24:54 AM
Friend got this.  This is what the start of mass adoption looks like

Why you Bitfinex no scale up service before? 4 years since the last destructive influx, you'd think they'd have been prepared for the next couple order of magnitude increases by now.  Like, hodlers buy the dip, exchanges scale up during the dip?  But but but we had no idea that this would happen!  Ahahahahaha
Zero Vision.  I award you no points, and may....
1337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 22, 2017, 10:20:31 AM
Welp we hit that 5x target somebody mentioned a month or 2 months ago when rumero was 80-90 USD. Next 5x @1600-2000  Huh Huh

I believe the 5x was calculated from a bottom.  IF this is a bottom, then it would equate to something in the $1250 range...
And of course, a pattern brought to light tends to fade, so that won't happen.
1338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 22, 2017, 09:07:26 AM
Here I am trying to decide to:

1.  Convert a mass of BTC to XMR
2.  Convert MR to BTC.
3. Hold tight.

Are you looking closely at door #1?

250-200 is the lowest I think. People like round numbers, but it's only speculation. Dont take me too seriously

Poloniex XMR/BTC hit a low <$260, roughly 50% off the $ peak from a day and a half ago.  Now I'm sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop; Perhaps as BTC trips past 11K?
Or Slingshot ATH?

We still have Elrippo's Dec 18/0.06 call that might just be held up in traffic  Grin

Sometime you have to innovate.

I see!  Moon Shot off the wires?  Shocked  Much clever!
