XMR has been knocking on the .025BTC door for quite some time.  Recently it's been poking right over that value multiple times in a row.  I like.  Volume still soft... but we are coiling imho.

Sorry to ruin it by posting Heuristic...

24 hours ago I was watching for it to dip somewhat deeper, but it seems ain't nobody got time fo dat.  Volume so low it's almost off my top 10 watchlist on polo - that would be a new one.

2016 had an order of magnitude increase vs. BTC.  The year we got Hydrogen Helix, which improved usability by... an order of magnitude?  Probably an understatement.  2018 we get multisig, bulletproofs, hardware wallets, and much else under development.  Anyone else willing to accept another x10 vs BTC this year?  Several other coins have been past that range now, so it's not even unheard of  anymore to be 0.1+  Just a stepping stone.
1282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 01, 2018, 06:26:08 PM
Bullish.  There's bullish, then there's me.  Then there's this...

https://moneromike.com/monero-value-2018/

KiXiNiT will argue that because it has happened repeatedly before, it can't happen again, but for the last 2 years running Monero has ~x3.5 Jan1 --> July 1.  And ~x8 July1 -->Jan 1.  Weird pattern, but start at Jan 1 2016 @ ~$0.50 and check the dates  Wink Those are not peaks or floors, just snapshots.  So while $1200 by July and $10000 by year end fit this pattern, It wouldn't be a shock to fall off this pace somewhat.  $100k this year would be... well, it would be months ahead of schedule Tongue

I expect giant gains for XMR in 2018!!!!!

$1,000 no wait $5,000 !!

... Shit I forgot my sig campaign  Roll Eyes

Ya, me too.  But aren't you here to tell us that there's no way it could possibly reach $1000 or $5000 in only one year!?
Happy New Year  Cheesy

Monero Hardware Wallet.  Projected to be $10-$20.  Cool.  I'd buy a stack of them for gifts.

Ohh yeah that looks like a great deal! I'm in. Keep Zooko away from it or he'll try to backdoor it for TPTB! Smiley Who'd doing the software? I also heard there will be DIY instructions, do you have a link for those?

Found this.

I know they are not a scam.
Then you should have confidence that your funds will be registered, if you persist in seeking support.  If that fails, send them a demand letter.

Did you send to an integrated address? If not, did you use any required payment ID?  If not, it may take some human intervention before your account is credited.

But, again, this is a speculation thread, and the topic should be moved to the kraken thread, please.

I used integrated address, that is only what Kraken has.

Strange happening again. When I click Funding, Deposit and XMR, appears not a xmr addresses page, but a message.

This action is not available for tier level 3

Yuor current funding tier level (3) is insufficient for this functionality. Please further verify your account to increase your tier level and funding limits.

Increase funding limits

I have tier 3 and it has no limit for crypto deposits. So I do not understand.

The Kraken thread is here.

Seems to be, that many others have had such problems too. Many have already solved.

I just had the same message. Never saw it before.

Clearly the toaster has blown an element.

Everything I wanted bitcoin to be when I first discovered it.

Funny that everyone lands on Monero when they know what to look for Smiley

Ya it took me a few weeks to find it, and the daemon wouldn't run on my laptop, but I was already hooked.  Didn't get it going til Hydrogen Helix  Tongue

It just show that release date had not come out.  Price was decreasing last months altho sort beta 0.9 release was long time out. None out of core team knew and expected it will happen today.
Price of Monero decreased from 0.0015 to 0.001 BTC in  2015. I doubt at end of 2016 will be only as high as it was in beginning of 2015 but much higher. Most possibly Monero will be coin that will gain most in 2016 out of top20 by capitalizations coins.

Hydrogen Helix is real start of Monero. Monero ended qualifications and set ready on start of crypto race.

I sort of speculate we will get similar New Years present as we did 2 years ago when we got 0.9.0 Hydrogen Helix. So I went to check 2 years ago posts and saw this one. I was actually for once right, since Monero was the best performing coin of 2016.

It is also funny that lots of posts back then was about multisig.

Similar thoughts...  Excited for New Years Day, but not really expecting anything, at the same time.  The 2016 gift was fantastic, but I try not to hope for such again.  It won't be long anyway, no more than a few weeks I think for the next release.  Here comes multisig - soon has arrived  Cheesy

I wanne wish everybody a happy newyear and a healty 2018 ( and the years after as well ofcourse Smiley )
hopefully we reach 800 usd in 2018, huge things like hardware wallet and DNM adoption ahead should make
this possible, but i have this strange feeling that all of this went to fast and we wont see big changes upwards
in 2018 ... its just a feeling, maybe somebody here could change this with good arguments

Monero is experiencing an exponential (maybe. I dunno, but the pace is picking up rapidly) increase in development growth to go with the interest, and price growth.  Everything is moving faster.

What are the biggest complaints in crypto right now, besides the constants of exchanges and wallets?  It's cost, and confirmation time.  What's coming to Monero, to join with all that great stuff we had before?  Why, Bulletproofs, of course!    Order of magnitude cheaper transactions, faster transactions, added to 2 min block time, blocks that adjust to usage, fees that reduce even further with usage, Not to mention our friend Fungi Billy T.  How can you not be just insanely bullish?  Usability is being constantly improved, and Hardware Wallets just around the corner will help immensely.

While it's no secret that I'm always bullish on Monero, it's not just the pretty logo that gets me.  Actually I fucking hate orange.  But it's the only project in crypto with the ideals behind it, and embraced by the devs, that call to me.  Everything I wanted bitcoin to be when I first discovered it.  Price appreciation is exciting and rewarding;  It is nothing to the giddy feeling I get when I consider the accomplishments thus far, and what lies ahead imminently, as we close rapidly on the 4 year mark.  Happy New Year, my friends.  It is going to be fantastic!
1291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [NO ICO] Monero Lite (XMRL) - Anonymous Transactions, Secure and Fast. on: December 31, 2017, 05:22:01 AM
This is just a clone, nothing new to this coin, the transaction fee for XMR is really expensive, I hope there is 'lite' version of XMR appear to solve the problem.

More expensive than some, but at less than $1 it's reasonable in the current environment, and a bargain for what you are getting.  Also keep in mind the 80+% reduction in fees coming 03-2018.
No need for 'lite' anything.  As if any undeveloped clone could improve on a project like Monero.
People.  (and bots).  If it doesn't offer a REAL TEAM and ground breaking tech, IT IS ONLY THERE TO TAKE YOUR MONEY.  Monero has ~300 contributors (with 134 individuals contributing directly to master.)  Do some research ffs.

The vast majority of thread participants herein would have never bought such a stupid dumbass centralized manipulated coin,

While they may not have bought it, they may have received it. Anyone who asked got 20,000 XRP back in the day.

Really?

You are trying to assert that these coins were "free" and/or fairly distributed based on some kind of "ask" scenario?

You really believe your own bullshit half the time?

A little holiday greeting:  Get the fuck out of here, picnic food eating bear dude.. (   Cheesy  )

Get over yourself JJG - your noobishness is on full display.

Yes indeed, 20,000 XRP were given to anyone who provided a Ripple address to which said XRP could be sent. True story.

Arrogance and ignorance go hand in hand...

1293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: December 31, 2017, 04:57:44 AM

Yep.  bullet proofs on the testnet already Smiley   Sounds to me as though both are progressing well thus far.   To the best of my knowledge (admittedly not the best) both are likely to be in the next protocol upgrade, barring catastrophic testing issues.
It feels like a few weeks ago that I first heard about Bullet Proofs.  Now they are likely weeks from release.  The Monero Team is Fast.  Spaceship Fast.  Never thought I'd say that  Cheesy

Slow down there buddy.  The release for the March HF code is scheduled for mid Jan. so that does not give much time for testing BulletProofs.  At the dev meeting 2 weeks ago there was no consensus as to when BPs would be released.  I imagine they are keeping an open mind but my guess is it will probably not make it.  I must say that more people are involved in development these days so things do move faster but nothing will be released unless it is thoroughly tested and reviewed.  Like everyone I hope it makes it.  It is a rather easy replacement to our current range proofs but it is new tech.  It would be the first implementation where money is involved so..............

Multisig has been tested and is ready for the March HF.  Being a wallet change it actually doesn't need a HF.  It is already on master and will be there and ready to use in the Jan release.  If BPs are ready for the Jan code they will not be used until March as they do need a HF.

Sigh.  Enthusiasm Crushed.

Reduced to level:  Uber Bullish.

Maybe I'm wrong to be so influenced by some troll on twitter, but but but...

single-output Bulletproofs code is merged and will be live as part of the March hard fork.

Today an order to sell the bunch of Stellars that I got for free as a bitcoinaire got executed at the absolute top, so I recovered almost a 3% of the total value of my btc. Against negativity try to cash in some shitfork dividends.

Congrats. Talking of which, the deadline for Polo to claim Stellar is tomorrow. Guess that's my free coins down the drain then...

Is this another dividend I have not heard of some how?

All individual bitcoin holders could claim some stellar last summer, but the giveaway finished on August 27th. The catch was you had to use facebook to claim.

However exchanges can still claim on behalf of their customers until tomorrow.

https://www.stellar.org/blog/bitcoin-claim-lumens-2/

Haha thanks.  Gotta pay a LOT more than that to get me on Fecalbook.  No loss detected.

Now that Ripple overtook Ethereum, what do you guys and gals think that means for the whole crypto space? Do you think we shall see Ripple at no.1 at some point? I want to hear your speculations.

With that many billions of 'tokens' all instamined?  No - can't see it.
Market cap is bogus.  XRP in the past has arbitrarily doubled the supply.  Why not do it every year or ?  No different from $$, just quicker to transact.

Speaking of tax, my fellow Canadians may benefit from this:

http://www.taxtips.ca/taxrates/bc.htm

What a stupid bureaucratic mess of a breakdown.  Anyway, for smaller amounts, Capital Gains isn't as horrendous as I thought.

The scoop is I pay( net of graduated levels) 10% on 40k, ~ 12% on 100k,  ~15% on 150k,  ~19% on 250k.  Max rate is 24.9% over 205k.  So as long as I don't want to take any capital out, it is <choke> reasonable (I was under the impression that it was a flat 25% give or take) for living expense amounts, up to a decent level by my standards.  Might even stay in Canada for a while longer.

its annoying to see something like ZCL rocket up so that they can be airdropped BTCP. Anyone have thoughts on how this might affect Monero?

What is a ZCL, and how could it possibly affect Monero?

Zcash, but classic  Roll Eyes

Coins should start assembling a team as soon as they release a coin, wait a couple months and change the least popular things and release a classic version. I'm not saying that getting rid of the dev tax isn't a positive change, but kind of stupid to recreate the trusted setup--though the one thing that keeps me away is the unauditable supply (that's an inflation tool the fed would be jealous of).

It's like having a 3 legged horse.  Clone it, paint stripes on it.  Great.  It still can't fucking walk.  I don't get it, but apparently there's money to be made, so forge ahead!
