The screws on the heatsinks are as tight as can be, could I possibly have a duff cube?? Would re-arranging the modules make a difference??

I'd try rearraging the modules, but I don't think it would make much difference.

Contact whoever you purchased the Cube from and let them know you have a bad board.  You might get a replacement blade for free like this guy:

Out of six cubes, I had one with a bad blade-- it showed a row of "xxx"s no matter which slot I put it in. I emailed asicminer.help@gmail.com on Dec. 6 about the single defective blade, and received no response.

Then I got home today and there was a package inside my door from Shenzhen. I actually thought to myself, "What the heck is this? I haven't ordered anything recently." But there was a replacement blade inside, and it works perfectly.

4 days, including the weekend, from the moment I emailed until the replacement blade arrived from China and was plugged in & hashing. Amazing. Amazing! Thank you CanaryInTheMine & friedcat. The ASICMiner legend grows.

Honestly, I would buy an HD Radeon 5850 MSI Twin Frozr for like $100 or cheaper if you can find it used. Then you can start mining Alt coins and even Bitcoins. PM me for some good mining pools. With a GPU mining rig, you can resell the graphics card for more than you bought it for a lot of times.

Win!  That's exactly what I would do.

You should be able to get close to 0.1btc a month with one of those.
563  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: December 18, 2013, 05:00:30 PM

Does anyone know how to factory reset the cubes? I pressed the button but it doesn't indicated its been reset.

I don't think that will help.  Their IP will reset to 192.168.1.254:8000 but that is likely already what their IP is at... you just can't see them because you are not on 192.168.1.x with your router.

Have you tried this?  Sounds like it should make it work.

You gotta login to the router, click advance settings, then DHCP settings, change the LAN IP to 192.168.1.16 as VM reserve the IP's upto .15 for guest networks.

The router will now reboot, login to the router again and change the LAN IP to 192.168.1.1 and take it from there!

Dogecoin is such wow.  Much win.  Very buy.

How can I synthesize MDA (3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine)?  None of this "molly" shit, I want some White Doves shit from the 90's.

566  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: December 18, 2013, 04:14:01 PM

Also anyone got any ideas how to get these working on the virgin media hub 2?

I'm guessing you would need to do something similar to what I had to do in configuring the router manually as 192.168.1.1

From a quick Google search it appears the IP for the Virgin Hub is 192.168.0.x or 192.168.100.x which will need to be changed to 192.168.1.x

Anyone know a way to merge mine with the Cube?

mine at eligius, you can get namecoins while you mine btc, if you set that up in their control panel

Was going to try and get it set up on p2pool but I don't think that is going to happen, so I will try out BTC Guild tonight since I already have an account there and it does Namecoin as well.  Maybe I will try out Bitparking, too, but their hashrate and luck doesn't seem very appealing to me...

Purchased these... Will update once received.

PM sent with tracking info.  Will hopefully have more cables in the next few weeks so others can get a chance to get some.  Have a few hundred ordered awaiting shipment.

Not sure where else to ask this... but has anyone wrote a guide for p2pool and AM Blades/Cubes?  I assume I will need to use bfgminer?  I haven't seen much on how to get that to work with the Cube either...

Sorry if this has been posted already, but I couldn't Google worth a damn on this topic.

Here is my solution for that stupid UVerse Router.  I don't think many will have the issue, but it made me want to break things, so hopefully it helps at least one person out Cheesy

572  Bitcoin / Mining support / AT&T UVerse - ASICMiner Cube Solution (same default IP as router) on: December 17, 2013, 10:26:37 PM
AT&T UVerse - ASICMiner Cube Solution [With Pictures]

Alright, well long story short, I got my Cube about 24 hours ago, finally got it working now.  The main problem that I had was that my IP address of my router was the same as the default IP address of the Cube.  So, here is my guide to working around that - with pictures.  I needed it spelled out for me because this was more networking than I have done in a very long time.

1)  Plug in power and ethernet connectors to the Cube and get it connected to the router via Cat5.  I'll assume you have already read Dogie's set-up guide (here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=352658.0)  and are reading this because you are stumped after a few hours of trial and error.

2)  Now that your Cube is plugged in, go to your router address - UVerse default is - http://192.168.1.254/ then click on Wireless and then DHCP.  Click Configure Manually and enter the information like I have below.  You don't need to necessarily use the same First and Last DHCP Addresses that I have, but 149 addresses is more than enough for me, so I left it that way.

3) Next change the computer in which you will be running the mining_proxy.exe file on, to the following IP:  192.168.1.111  - To do this, again go to the router (you will likely need to recconect after changing the IP of the router), this time http://192.168.1.1/ and click on Wireless then click on IP Address Allocation  (See the image below if you need help with finding this)

4) Run ipconfig.exe to ensure that your IP and Gateway are set-up correctly.
Start Menu -> Command Prompt -> cd\windows\system32\ -> ipconfig
See the picture below.

5) Make sure you know your login and password from Slush's Pool ( http://mining.bitcoin.cz/ ).  This sounds stupid, but more than a few people have let this stump them for an hour or more including myself after switching back and forth between trying to get Slush's pool to work and trying to get BTC Guild to work.  I am going to try BFGMiner in a little bit and include that if I get it up and running but I want to mine for a little bit since I finally got connected to something!

6) Next fire up your mining_proxy.exe with this command line:
mining_proxy.exe -o stratum.bitcoin.cz -p 3333 -gp 8332
It shouldn't do anything right now since you still have to configure the cube.  Might look something like this, but results may vary:

7)  Last set up your Cube information by going to http://192.168.1.254:8000/ - this is the default address of the Cube, you may or may not have changed it.  I changed the IP to be http://192.168.1.201:8000 in this example.  See the pictures for all of the information.  You should have all of the information now or at least see a picture as to where you can obtain that information.

Now if you click over the Mining Proxy window then you should see something like this, and hopefully you see your Cube hashing away now.  This was a stressful pain in the ass for me to set-up so hopefully this little guide helped someone.  The information was already out there, but it still took me a lot of time to get it all working.

573  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: December 17, 2013, 09:26:58 PM
@ Damnsammit

a) 192.168.1.254
b) Cube Config:
IP    192.168.1.201
Mask   255.255.255.0
Gateway   0.0.0.0          <--- should this not be the same as the Primary DNS, both pointing to the router??
WEB Port   8000
Primary DNS   192.168.1.254
Secondary DNS   8.8.8.8
Pool ports   8332, 8332
Pool addresses   192.168.1.76, 192.168.1.76
Miners user:pass   Damnsammit:x, Damnsammit:x
c) 192.168.1.76
d) C:\proxyminer\mining_proxy.exe -o stratum.bitcoin.cz -p 3333

Thank you so much!  I was having the hardest time with this...

Went through about 20 different settings to get it set up.  I have all of the pictures now and will create a new post for my solution with UVerse and post it here in case anyone else is having the same problem.  It all has to do with the default IP for the UVerse router being 192.168.1.254 though, methinks.
574  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: December 17, 2013, 06:47:53 PM
Did you pull the cards out and make sure all the heatsinks were tight? In Blades, low efficiency is usually due to chips overheating from poor heatsink contact, and these Cubes are notorious for loose screws upon delivery.

Yeah, mine had 3 screws loose.  Just undo the front/back of the Cube, disconnect the fan, and then slide the main board out to check them all.
575  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: December 17, 2013, 06:35:36 PM
Well nuts. Unless there's something screwy with network topology, I'm out of ideas. Did you double-check the IP of your proxy machine?

Yeah I went and changed the IPs of everything again and tried it once more.  Same results.  I'm just going to blame it on AT&T UVerse and sell this thing to a sucker on CL or eBay.

Sticking with scrypt mining for now... thanks for all of the help!
576  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: December 17, 2013, 06:31:42 PM
The word "port" doesn't need to be in there. -gp 8335 or something

Tried that and there was no change...  Undecided
577  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: December 17, 2013, 06:01:46 PM
Hm, yeah that all seems to make sense. The only thing I can think of, which is sorta unlikely unless for some reason you have a local bitcoind instance running, is something's already got 8332 tied up?

Had the Wallet-qt open, but I closed it... no different results.

Trt adding a "-gp port" option to your mining_proxy.exe and changing the "Pool ports" to the same port specified.

Adding "-gp port" or "-gp port 8332" to the command line only caused it to immediately crash.

I'm all out of ideas.  Already changed the PSU, fuse, took apart the Cube, made sure everything was in there correctly (for the second time), tried changing the IP for it, tried two different pools, tried shutting off the WiFi and disconnecting all other devices from the router, tried restarting the router... tried blowing into the fan while I touched my nose with my left hand... Sad

Thank you!!!  As soon as my WiFi was turned off on my droid, both units started going full steam at the proxy!  Been driving me crazy for 4 days.

Wish that would work for me!  I shut my wireless down and the only two things connected to the router are my computer and the Cube... still not working, and it is getting reset every ~2 minutes.
580  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: [Guide]How To Setup ASICMiner Blades/Cubes on: December 17, 2013, 04:49:36 AM
Yeah now I am getting it to restart every 2 minutes... turned off the WiFi on my phones and tablets, but still no dice.

 Sad
