581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I convert my bitcoin to Ethereum? on: August 17, 2017, 10:35:11 AM
when you diversify you do it with more reliable assets not with the least reliable ones.
right now ethereum is experiencing a lot of issues. the network was slowed down again recently and big exchanges were forced to disable it again!
and i don't think there is anyone who doesn't know ethereum is in an artificial price or as you may know it "a bubble".

wait around, invest in other altcoins and then when ethereum bubble was busted come in and invest at the bottom.
582  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin on the high side? on: August 17, 2017, 10:20:23 AM
Is it still a good timing to enter the market for bitcoin? or should i wait for price to drop before entering?

it already did drop down after the $4000 resistance was broken!
to be exact price went up to $4430 in 2 days ago and then it started falling down as low as $3830 according to bitfinex. you should have bought there.

right now it is another rally which has pushed the price up to $4444.44 so far Cheesy
583  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could a future hard fork save Bitcoin from Quantum Computing? on: August 17, 2017, 10:09:29 AM
I have heard people talk about how quantum computing could kill Bitcoin,
don't just read the questions that people ask, read the answers that others give too.

so would Bitcoin be able to "fork off" into a quantum resistant blockchain in a kind of hard fork when the time comes?
yes!
584  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When to sell on: August 14, 2017, 10:50:23 AM
How do you decide when to sell? What tell you that the rise is over and there is about to be a drop? I keep selling too soon and while I'm not losing money, I could be doing way better. I'd appreciate any advice

this is very wrong. there is no selling too soon in altcoin market. you always set a certain percentage profit for yourself and then sell at that price. very simple. and take that profit and never regret anything. this is called a successful trader.

the important part is setting that percentage profit. for some altcoins it can be 20% for some others it can be up to 200%. and when you sell at that 20% or 200% and it goes higher like 25% or 210% respectively you shouldn't really regret anything. you still have got a big nice profit.
585  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the reason for Bitcoin sharp rise ?! on: August 14, 2017, 10:28:11 AM
the answer is one word: demand

think about it. price is now $4200, people are now paying forty two hundred dollars to own 1 bitcoin. they want it. the media is helping a lot too. it is no longer a secret thing existing in the nerds basement in 2009 Smiley
it is out there, countries are seeing it as a currency just like USD, CNY, JPY, GBP,... and that is a huge step forwards.
586  Economy / Speculation / Re: How Long Bitcoin Will Bullish on: August 14, 2017, 10:19:43 AM
Now... this year 2017 is a reflection of 2013...
no it is not.
you have been saying this ever since price reached $1000. and literary everything is different from those days.
now we have got countries announcing their support for bitcoin, they remove taxes on bitcoin, they regulate and legalize it,....
the market is also no longer controlled by one exchange like 2013 Mt Gox!! there are 100 exchanges in place of one bit Mt GOx now.

Bitcoin prices rose significantly along with increased adoption and problem-solving. But whether Bitcoin prices can still rise in 2018 later? While the price correction of the price spike has not occurred at all. So what do you think guys?
the correction has been happening all along. you just seem to have missed it.
price is not x2-x1!!! it is instead all the things that happen between x2 and x1. and you are just looking at the start and the end of it. if you take a time and look at that middle you can see all the dips, the red bars representing the corrections.

and yes price will continue rising 2018, 2019, 2020, ... and so on until bitcoin is mass adopted by a great number of people and by that day price will probably be around $50,000
587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best bitcoin offline wallet? on: August 14, 2017, 10:08:40 AM
offline wallets are not just hardware wallets!
a cold storage is a more wider category than that. a simple definition would be practically any wallet that never connects to the internet.
it can be any wallet installed on an always offline and clean computer. or it can simply be your private keys printed on a paper aka paper wallet.

for different purposes you can choose one of these. a hardware wallet is a good choice if you are willing to pay and also want to take the easy and safe route. because obviously the other methods like making a paper wallet is not as easy.
588  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin $10,000 in sight !!! on: August 13, 2017, 09:45:44 AM
generally speaking $10,000 was always in sight. it never went anywhere even back in 2013 or 2015ish after the bottom of $200. that price has always been the "target".

but i wouldn't rush to conclusion and open up champagnes! it is still too early for that kind of rise if we want a generic and stable rise not just a bubble which never lasts.

this month we can easily start testing the waters around $5000 and then see where things go from there. but probably it won't break and price will fall down to early $4000 levels again. and this can take a couple of months until the SegWit2x drama and that event will determine the 2017 price. it can easily be a smooth fork or 0 fork both leading to $6000+ price or it can be a lot of drama and another drop and bear market keeping price low at $3000 range.
589  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin has just surpassed $ 4,000 and continues to grow rapidly in the near fut on: August 13, 2017, 09:24:08 AM
Of course it does... remember what this guy said.. I don't think he is talking non-sense

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/john-mcafee-claims-bitcoin-will-worth-500000-three-years/

this was a very strange speculation with John McAfee saying he will (how should i put this delicately) eat his own dong on national television if this speculation didn't come true Cheesy
590  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reasons behind this Rise/Bubble? on: August 12, 2017, 11:30:31 AM
it is all about all the period of time before this rise. you shouldn't just look at this rise on its own. of course it would look like a bubble to you!

all the time before August 1st (before the Jul 15-20 approximately) there was a fear of the fork. not the Bitcoin Cash altcoin fork but the SegWit fork because it never had any support and the UASF proposal was pushing for a split. and on the other hand bitmain was also pushing for another split and there was the legacy chain. things would have been messy. obviously every investor thinks twice about the future and gets their money out, even if it is only a part of it not all.

but as SegWit2x locked in the BIP91 all those people gained their confidence back and started to come back. as it was a 100% support, they came back with 100%+ more money this time. hence the big rise.
591  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ABC wallet stole my BTC ! on: August 12, 2017, 11:11:51 AM
you probably have not sent the transaction at all because it can not be found on either chains.

are you connected to any BCH nodes?

and according to this site: https://cash.coin.dance/blocks last block was 3 minutes ago.

Has the BCH difficulty already altered to the hash rate? It was definitely slower last time I checked it.

it certainly is a lot faster than the first days but it is still very slow. for example according to that link i posted, there has been only 27 blocks in the past 10 hours. and in normal circumstances there should have been 60 blocks instead (1 every 10 minutes on average).

which means blocks are still being found at about half speed.
and the more interesting point is that they are nearly empty blocks!
27

Oh yeah I think so....

"Status: 0/unconfirmed, in memory pool"

Does that mean it hasn't been broadcast yet?
try sending it again. (if you are sure you are sending to the correct address of course).

593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this Why Satoshi Left? on: August 12, 2017, 10:57:07 AM
read the context Cheesy

i believe what Satoshi meant was the fact that the site that mentioned bitcoin for the first time and with highest attention of all time (by that time) was not exactly the best publicity for bitcoin.

and the swam was quotes like these:
Quote
The article implies that Bitcoin was invented as a RESULT of Wikileaks troubles...  as sort of an altrernate SOLUTION to Wikileaks donation funding troubles.

by now, we are familiar with the FUD, but it was a new thing back then.
594  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: keep calm and buy the dips... on: August 10, 2017, 10:13:23 AM
I don't understand why you are saying it is in a dip right now. It is pretty much the highest it has ever been! It just went up over 20% last week and you don't think another dip is possible?

I think the dip that the OP is saying is that after reaching a new ATH at around $3500, the price suddenly go down to $3350 so there is around 1% dip. So this is a perfect time for other who has already missed the boat buying at $2000 when bitcoin crash or dip a few weeks ago. The rationale being if you will wait for a dip before buying, and then when there is a dip you don't buy, then you have may missed opportunity to profit even if is just a cent or dust amount. A profit is a profit. No matter how small it is.

Well, a profit is a profit. True, but if that is the kind of dip that investors are waiting before they buy BTC, I think it is not really worth it. 1%? What is the probability that it dips rather than increases in value? That's not even 50-50. The probability is that it will surge. So buying anytime right now is really a wise decision.

the highest price on bitstamp was $3490 and the lowest it got after it was the next day when price dipped down to $3178 and now back up above $3400 and that is nearly 9% profit in about 2 days give or take.

and it is like a $300 discount! i wouldn't call that "small"
595  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is holding on to Byteball a good idea? on: August 10, 2017, 10:01:12 AM
I purchased some Byteball recently for the airdrop on 7th August. I predicted the big dump right after the airdrop, but I didn't expect it do drop this much and to not recover.
what you need to know is that Byteball price was in a bubble like many other altcoins. they all went up at the same time and needed to come down and correct.
also the airdrop will always cause 2 things:
- the panic sell
- the sell pressure because it was free money!

if any recovery happens it will be in long term.

Quote
.whether it is a good idea to hold on to it long term and if there are any bag holders.
hold what you can afford to lose.
altcoin price are very volatile. it is best to take precautions.

Quote
Can anyone let me know how the price fluctuated a few days before/after the previous airdrops
price got dumped before the airdrop started, then it slowly went lower after.

Quote
and the general feeling about it - a genuinely good coin with good future prospects or just some other fade-away coin? Any advice on whether to hold for short/medium/long term and what makes it a good/shitty investment?
i can say with a good certainty that it is not a "fade-away" coin. it won't just disappear.
we saw the potential it has for growth and the volume is very high. the price nearly reached $1000 and there are so little number of coins that can say this after their release and being around for a year or so.

the next airdrops will be smaller though. if i am not mistaken 1/10 of this time. and with getting closer to the end of distribution you can expect less big dumps like the previous ones.

they recently did some stuff to incentivize merchants to adopt byteball which i think will help in the long term price too.
596  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Bitcoin2X - November, whats it gonna be for you? on: August 10, 2017, 09:45:42 AM
Hmm.. So there are going to be three different coins: BTC, BTC2X and BCH? I think I will hold all three, at least for another 6-7 months. Even after that period, at the most I am going to dump 25% of each.

seems sensible after seeing the ETH/ETC and BTC/BCC debacles play out. i'm only really interested in BTC, and i think that's what will take the throne in the long term, but there's no point insta-dumping the other coins just to double down on my BTC holdings. better to let the market figure it out for me, and make a decision months (or even years) later.

comparing bitcoin and ethereum has never been a good idea. they have nothing in common.
the split of ethereum was because it was rushed and nobody agreed to it but the wealthy foundation wanted it and also it was a roll back to reverse the losses they have sustained. the support for each chain was big enough

the bitcoin split was a small group of people with small hashrate who went though with it and created an altcoin which nobody wants.

for example if support for ETH/ETC was 60/40% the support for BTC/BCC was 95-5%
597  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buy Now! delay 1 second and lose 1 dallor. on: August 08, 2017, 10:45:56 AM
It's really that time is money, if you buy delayed, you will lose.

you do realize that it is already late and you have missed the cheap coins of this month.
i am not saying price will go down or stop rising, no. quite the opposite. price will go much higher, but i hate it when people do this, when price is already high they start thinking about buying bitcoin and when it is in a dip and low (like the $1800 a couple of weeks ago) they all stay away scared!

$1800 was the time to buy and laugh at those who were selling. and $3400 is the time to hold and enjoy the rise and again laugh at those who sold at the bottom. <insert evil laughter here>
598  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers Demand Millions in Bitcoin for Stolen HBO Files on: August 08, 2017, 10:33:10 AM
these hacks happen every day. HBO, CNBC,... and all the rest of those channels. every now and then their whole videos get leaked somehow. and each time the hackers ask for some ransom and each time these companies tell them where they can go Wink

you can see these kind of news on torrentfreak.com
this is the first time i am hearing bitcoin though.

599  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is amazing on: August 08, 2017, 10:23:05 AM
My question is for long term is it better to wait or is the price going to keep rising. Maybe we have a new bottom?
I know it's speculation but curious what people are thinking.

it is impossible to tell with bitcoin. i don't know how DannyHamilton is 100% sure but what i say is that there is a pretty good chance that in long term price will keep on rising. it is a very simple supply and demand relationship and because the supply is limited and fixed and at the same time the demand is rising, price will rise.

but you know, bitcoin is still a new technology. it is even still in beta! and the market is too small and too volatile. which is why i say a "pretty good chance" instead of being 100% sure.
600  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: what to do?? on: August 07, 2017, 09:53:34 AM
What to do after mining, if i withdraw it what to do next?? Kindly help me, im a little bit confused.

your question is very unclear!
when you mine you get paid in a cryptocurrency. for example you get satoshi if you mined bitcoin, doge if dogecoin, eth if you mine ethereum and so on.

then you have to decide if you want to keep the reward or not. you can consider it as an investment if you think what you mine will go up in price. then hold it and sell when it is worth more.

with bitcoin, you can also use it to buy stuff, exactly like how you use money to buy stuff online.
