581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin miners extorting people that are making transaction? on: December 21, 2023, 01:10:50 PM
~
He willingly paid for the service with his own free will though?  He wanted the transaction immediately at that time and I'm assuming that he knows transaction fees are supposed to be paid, whatever it is at the time for every transaction. In a sense miners are just doing their job really, fees are afaik no way influenced by them (or at least, the job itself anyway). They are raking in money though with the recent high fees though.

As for the devs though, they can't exactly cater to only one side of things. The community itself votes for what gets pushed and not to the development of Bitcoin so it's definitely going to take a lot of time and effort for something to happen, if it ever happens.
~
Then simply play around to make the losses minimal. If it requires you to DCA every month instead, then plan that out. I've never particularly had any issue with me doing it monthly instead of weekly tbh.
582  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Michael Jordan a gambling addict ? on: December 21, 2023, 12:53:36 PM
~
If it were based on your definition (or wikis) then no, not really since anything negative is basically offset by the immense wealth that he has. I reckon your friend simply assumed that if MJ wasn't as successful as he was, gambling would've devoured him. Now sadly this is just a what if scenario and can't be answered no matter what since, well, MJ was successful. For all we know he could really just like gambling, or his itch for gambling is pretty much well scratched due to the sheer amount of money he has.

I'd assume he wasn't as well really. Just the fact that he takes care of his family and is involved in the business world is enough to say that he has his wits with him all the time.
583  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Local Base Or International Based Online Casino on: December 21, 2023, 11:37:20 AM
~
Isn't it like roulette? But a lot more simplified? Sounds kind of boring really. e-sabong became rather famous because of the thrill of watching the fights themselves, kind of like how sports gambling is rather famous. I highly doubt it'd become as famous as that regardless of the fact that the same creator made it.

As for casino, I'd honestly go for either. It's all just a matter of how much I enjoy the games they provide really. I haven't played that much locally though tbf, mostly because online casinos already have everything I want/need.
584  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When do you take out your investment when in profit? on: December 20, 2023, 02:08:03 PM
A lot of my altcoins have pumped over the last month or so and it has got me wondering when the best time is to take out initial investment.

Is it too early to take it out once you have doubled your money , is waiting till you have done a 5x or more too greedy?

My best investment so far has been Myria - I got lucky with this one and bought pretty much at the bottom a few months ago and I took my investment out last week once it did a 10x so I am now holding a bag of Myria with no risk.

I have other altcoins I am holding that I am up 3 or 4x on but have not taken profit yet but thinking of doing so , just take my investment out then I am holding more with no risk.

What does everyone else do when it comes to altcoins?
Most of it I plan to take profit after even a 2%-5% increase. Anything beyond that is me forgetting I invested in the first place. That's for short term ones though, for long term ones I usually wait at least until it doubled then decide from there whether I still continue or not. In cases where I DCA though, I just determine a period where I think the market has peaked after a couple of years of DCA'ing and then decide from there, which is what I'm going to do with Bitcoin.
585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best piece of advice to anyone going into bitcoin on: December 20, 2023, 01:53:38 PM
Buy a little bit of bitcoin every week don't care if it's a $1, $5, $10, $100, figure out what you can afford every week and buy it, get rid of unnecessary expenses or whatever you can think of getting rid of and spend it on bitcoin
5 to 10 years if you buy some every week you will be a multi millionaire
I say wouldn't be 1,5, or even 10 be too small? I mean the fees alone would probably cut those by at least a quarter. That, or you do it monthly or every half a month, which I do. I've been doing it afaik for at least a year? and I say I've profited well enough since I bought at the dip.

I do agree with getting rid of unnecessary expenses though, most especially subscription-based type of payments you do such as yt premium, spotify, etc. They're mostly premium stuff that you'd buy if you want to reduce some pain in the ass hassle but other than that, you don't really need them. Heck there's a lot of ways to bypass said pain in the ass hassles like ads so I don't think you really have to buy premium stuff like those.
586  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your view on this? Is it fun or addiction? on: December 20, 2023, 01:20:44 PM
~
Ok, anything that considers taking a loan as a form of support for their entertainment is addiction, period. Gambling is solely for entertainment (even if you entertain the idea that you can only win really), so if you start putting effort into trying to put it beyond that, it's not for entertainment anymore obviously. And if it's not, no matter how you put it or describe it, it's something that's ultimately bad for you and should be stopped immediately or improved if you can.

But hey, since it's a gc for friends it might just be a bit of a joke. But honestly? With that tone and sentence construction? I'd say you guys are far from friends really, more like a group of sport casinos/loaning group promoters.
587  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have any one had experiences with banned bank/providers because of gambling? on: December 19, 2023, 01:14:35 PM
~
Your brother/sister should've gotten some reason or something for why their account was banned. They just don't willy nilly ban an account without any reason or forewarning. Personally I think it's along the reasons of VPN or something really.

On a side note I'd like to ask is the legitimacy of your funds something illegal or something? Otherwise, why would you even include it as a reason for them to be concerned about? I highly doubt your funds being used in gambling is a reason, and unless your funds are indeed from somewhere illegitimate, then I don't think those are reasons you should particularly be concerned about.
588  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Type of gambling and Intelligence on: December 19, 2023, 11:56:12 AM
Does the type of game you play at a casino or sports you bet on show an individual's level of intelligence or how smart a person is?
Blackjack, Poker, slots, roulette, baccarat, sports betting, horse racing, betting on sociopolitical events, keno, etc.
Not really no? I mean, If it was, researchers would've scrambled to try and determine its usages and feasibilities in terms of anything and everything really. I reckon you can use it to determine their personality albeit a bit forced, but there's no exact 100% answer to that and there would always be edge cases on it. As for level of intelligence, heck you can survive here even if you closed your eyes and pray every time you play, highly doubt they can filter those instances out. If they don't, then the entire context of being able to quantify an individuals intelligence or even categorize it vanishes really.
589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has gambling ever whispered you with different strategic prediction measures? on: December 19, 2023, 10:45:04 AM
Since gambling is most based on luck, who else has ever wanted to set your eyes close while you hits the slot or taking your predictions with the believe that.... "Your eye sight has failed you in number of times at when believing that taking your time and plays according to your heart desired based on sights satisfactories was to be the best for you"
Then probably sometimes you want to try a new trick by closing your eyes while picking your predictions or hitting the slots.
I've done it. Quite often even. Not that it worked though tbf. Ok, I guess it did work sometimes, but that's just how luck works. I can't exactly say that spinning 3 times, standing up and sitting down twice, and drinking strawberry milk from a certain specific brand was what helped me win that specific bet (and no I didn't try it I ain't that crazy yet). It's literally just something I impulsively do sometimes, and impulsive actions don't exactly need rhyme or reason, nor a pattern to succeed. It's just literally luck. I guess I'm just adding some flavor to plain ol luck in my life.
590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who lost money due to dogecoin? on: December 18, 2023, 01:36:21 PM
So we all remember the time when dogecoin first came out, it was such a hyped-up altcoin, and everybody was excited about it. People start investing into the coin, and then it ends up sky rocketing! Who here was one of the people who invested into dogecoin while it was around the 60 cent mark, and wanted it to go up even higher, but then ended up losing a ton of money? Well I’m one of those people, and currently, dogecoin seems to be doomed, and I haven’t seen it get past the 10 cent mark in so long, and doubt that it will anytime soon. Coin doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, so for that could we get an RIP dogecoin in the chat? 😢🙏
Well in the first place it was kind of dumb to believe that after all that hype you'd still believe that Elon will somehow push the coin to another moon. That's just wishful thinking. If it were before the hype then sure, good for you. If it were during? Recipe for disaster. Hoping for it to go back to those days? More recipes for disaster. I would've honestly probably bought some if I knew it before the Elon hype though tbf. I mean its a Shiba Inu coin, which is pretty cute if you ask me.
591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does match fixing concern you often? on: December 18, 2023, 12:55:17 PM
~
Not really no. The number of times the tournaments/leagues I've watched are rare (mostly eSports tourneys), with most of them being only during the early days. I guess it also helps how most tournaments are rather big in itself and they number pretty small afaik, at least compared to other sports?

As for it being unhealthy, then yea definitely. I mean, what are the chances of you getting a bet on one anyway? Pretty low imo. And managing your bets due to a possible match-fixing seems like too much of a stress really. In a sense, picking teams to bet on is already stressful enough, adding the mindset of thinking if a match was matchfixed just seems too much.
592  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you take time to read the terms and conditions of casinos before registering? on: December 18, 2023, 11:17:02 AM
~
I usually don't since they're mainly copy-paste of literally any other ToS out there imo. I do mainly read stuff related to KYC, withdrawals, and whatnot instead which can vary but in general still mostly the same across any other casinos really, but hey, don't want to regret it afterwards because I didn't read jack. You'd almost always want to read ToS related to money stuff when money is well, involved, and casinos are definitely one of those instances. Even if it was limited to the money part, you should definitely take the time imo. I mean, even VPN usages can get you banned and some are unaware of this, what more of other say obscure rules.
593  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Behavioral Change!!! on: December 17, 2023, 11:36:16 AM
~
I'm not particularly sure. As far as I can recall, I've always had anger issues whenever emotions run high. To the point where I can hurl abusive words at anyone i'm conversing with really hard. It rarely happened though simply because I try to keep my emotions down for the most part, and in reality, it mostly happens when either I get really competitive (mostly in games) or in gambling, which is a game in itself.

I don't think gambling affects it in any way of err, e.g., having more instances of said behavior or something. I guess it's just how I am?
594  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have a "gambling problem" which you can sometimes control for years? on: December 17, 2023, 10:30:13 AM
~
No, pretty sure I have gambling controlled under my belt. As for being impulsive, which I assume is what you wanted to say, then yea sometimes. It comes rather randomly but I've tried to force it to never affect me negatively THAT much, which has so far worked due to how I balance my life.

As for how, I just do. It's probably a matter of how you've lived your life really, how much of an activity can affect you or not. For me, I've always gone on and off among a LOT of activities, from sports to games to gambling, and stuff like that. So it's not really hard for me to transition to something new if I really wanted to. Well, the important part in wanting to stop is wanting to stop and knowing how to. I reckon most people have the "wanting" part down, the how is kind fo specific from person to person imo.
595  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you confident betting on handicap for heavy favorites or heavy underdog? on: December 17, 2023, 10:06:48 AM
Let's say the handicap is -6.5 or more, which do you prefer to bet on, the favorites, or the underdog?

As we know, every gambler have different strategies in sports betting, they woudl stick to what they are comfortable with and that they think would give them a success in the long run, so this thread is some sort of a survey, maybe newbies or those who have been struggling to find the right strategy might benefit from this.

What can you share based on your experience as well, between the two, which one you have more wins and you find an effective method in your sports betting venture?
Depends I guess? I can favor the underdog if I actually know the team and their history but if not? Then the favorites 100%. That's just simple math imo. You can't exactly know what happens till it happens anyway, so you can only refer to known data and, well, in essence, the odds already are that data manifested in a summarized form so naturally you'd know or at least have some semblance of the difference between the two teams.

And from my experience, favorites naturally have a higher percentage of winning compared to underdogs. Based on profit though, I did win big twice on underdog bets but they're not as big compared to the over all total of my wins with favorites winning. If it was standalone then naturally underdogs win. Greater the risks greater the profit after all.
596  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All thanks to my family they contributed and bought bitcoin for me on: December 16, 2023, 03:30:49 PM
~
Congrats! Wondering if you've already bought it OP and what plans you have to safe keep it. You should probably set a place to store your funds, preferably something you know is safe (and not in exchanges) especially since I think you're considering holding it for at least half a year possibly waiting for some effects from the halving. Maybe even try to DCA if possible since half a year is a pretty sizeable time to increase the amount you invested, not to mention more than half a year is a possibility anyway.
597  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Goverment try to take advange over instabilty in prices of stable coins on: December 16, 2023, 02:45:30 PM
Hasn't CBDC's plan of trying to remove stable coins been a thing for so long already? Granted we've never really seen any implementations so far, but I highly doubt they'd replace stablecoins in the future. I mean, unless there's a law or regulation they'd implement, otherwise most people would probably just stick to what they actually know and have used for a long time. Honestly, I'd probably use whatever is the most useable one out of the two. Naturally the closer to the price of USD, the better but either way works really, and I reckon most people have the same mindset.
598  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Craze for Meme coins never ends? on: December 16, 2023, 01:13:14 AM
Someone made 100x returns with a coin called Dogwifhat (WIF) and he bought it just because the logo was cute but in a month the investment turned into 100K due to the Solona DeFi market.

This isn't the first time it has happened with random meme coin but a lot of coins that achieved huge returns went to the grave in no time as well so invest in the right coins if you are looking for long-term investment or just take a gamble and it may pays you off once in a while.

To read about 1000 to 100K journey: Crypto Trader Turns $1K Into $100K on Solana’s Newest Memecoin, Dogwifhat
Why would it? Meme coins, and someone behind it wanting to manipulate other newbie traders and profiting would always exist. If you were to even try to find these types of coins you'd probably run out sooner rather than hit something like this guy. Don't enter into meme coins expecting the same 100x profit they had, most of it is just luck or it's a part of the teams scheme to pump the coin itself.

Regardless of his true goals, what the man said about buying the coin cause the logo was cute or any other dumb reason should be followed really. Stop buying meme coins to profit, buy them cause the logos are cute. That way you don't buy nonsense coins all the time with the purpose of profiting, which in most cases, is pretty much no purpose at all since they're all, well, memes.
599  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think will be the next hype in crypto? on: December 15, 2023, 04:30:33 PM
~
Seeing as AI is still booming, I reckon we could see something big if AI further develops into something even bigger. Though I think we've reached the limit and at most we'd only ever see improvements in terms of speed and source of info (though we already see some semblance of that in some of the latest releases), it can't hurt but to expect something along those lines.

Other than that I mostly see 2024 as Bitcoin's year I guess? Maybe due to the halving I'd expect we'd see more news about it compared to altcoins. I do hope for some blockchain-based games to be properly released next year though, I want to see something good that has a properly managed ecosystem to play with.
600  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The need for mental section or public orientation for new gamblers. on: December 15, 2023, 02:35:33 PM
~
Nah. Do you honestly think a ragtag bunch of people in the internet would be a lot better in terms of mental health help in comparison to institutions with ample funding, people, and education (for helping and aiding in improving mental health)? Nah I don't think so. This forum can help with people releasing or telling their story, letting something off their chest but anything past that is rather unreliant to even be considered as a form of help. Sure, you can accept advice, but in the end it'd still need some sort or form of rumination, and not something you'd willingly accept unlike with professional help.

But well if it's just a hub for story telling, heck why not. Though to be fair, gambling discussion is already as such.
