Poor grammar and improper capitalization is rampant in this thread.

Do you honestly think the OP is looking for people who can't type out a coherent sentence ?
602  Other / Meta / Re: Activity 18 after 3 days? on: September 21, 2014, 05:14:57 PM
Im posting inside the new period and my activity is still stuck at 42. This just doesnt make sense to me.

It takes upto an hour for activity to update.

(Your one place stop for all activity related needs : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=582736.0)
603  Economy / Services / Re: Cryptocurrency Newbie Area - All you need to know (UNDER CONSTRUCTION) on: September 21, 2014, 02:30:14 AM
Virtfund.com is working on creating a one-stop shop where "Cryptocurrency Newbies" can find all of the information that they need to understand and user the various cryptocurrencies! Come check it out, leave feedback, even submit your own article to owner@virtfund.com if you want to be posted on the site (terms of compensation will be discussed before your article is uploaded). Also, you can sign up for updates when the newbie area is updated.

Also run at virtfund.com is Virtfund News, a cryptocurrency news service dedicated to helping you make money with cryptocurrencies.

The "crypto-currency newbie area" has no place for comments Sad

Anyways, it would be much better if you called the "Finney attack" the "double spend attack" instead. I myself had not heard of it being called the Finney attack till today, and a lot of newbs and early-adopters alike know it as the double spend attack.
604  Other / Meta / Re: Activity 18 after 3 days? on: September 20, 2014, 07:16:24 PM
Post delay depends on activity. It is negligible in Full Member+ , but for Jr. Member and below, it is a real incentive.

And secondly, don't forget the signature campaigns which every Newbie, Jr. Member and Member is desperate to join. That is the prime reason for which users chase activity.

Exactly. I still remember how frustrated I was for making a post and how eager I was for getting rid of the 360s limit back in the days.
But since I was a member (posting limit < 30s), it never bothers me again. Tongue

Once you hit 100 activity, it becomes only 12 seconds.
Beyond that point it drops by 1 second every 50 activity, capping out at 4 seconds at 500 activity.

But really, there is no point. Capping it at 15-30 seconds would make a lot more sense, because if you are posting once every 4 seconds, regardless if you have 500 activity, it is 100% spam.

Assuming the average person types at 60 WPM, 5 seconds would be enough to squeeze out only five words, and that is not including the time taken to read any post at all.
605  Other / Meta / Re: Activity 18 after 3 days? on: September 20, 2014, 06:30:30 PM
Why is everyone so obsessed about activity just read and post. Your activity/rank will increase with time.  There is not magical prize for being a hero or legendary member that I am aware of....or maybe I missed the memo.

606  Other / Meta / Re: Policy on multiple accounts on: September 20, 2014, 06:27:29 PM
I recommend running Tor over your VPN. A VPN by itself will not protect you if you're sharing controversial views that your government may have an issue with.

Anyway, it is fully within the rules of BCT to have as many accounts as you wish.

Known tor exit nodes often have "evil" making you need to pay a fee to register.

For a newbie to Bitcoin, creating a large amount of these is a bad idea.

And secondly, I don't think most people here who are creating many alts would be doing a lot of stuff that would be dangerous enough for the government to ask the VPN provider for logs.
607  Economy / Services / Re: The tree of dicks. on: September 20, 2014, 06:30:10 AM
You need to make more gifs of the tree growing.

I don't want a full image, I want to see the branches as they pop up !
608  Other / Meta / Re: How to remove bann on: September 19, 2014, 02:15:09 PM
One of my friends account was hacked for two days. He got it back with the security question. But suddenly he got banned on this forum. He thinks that the hacker make some fault with this account. Now he wants to get it back. How can he remove his ban?

I am afraid he can't get his ban removed.
Otherwise, all the other users getting banned may ask for an un-ban as well by claiming to be hacked.

I think a sudden email change + password change + recovery using security question would be able to prove he was hacked.

If it was a trivial offence : "Posts with low value" or something like that, you may be pardoned, on the grounds that you might've been hacked.
If it was something terrible and huge, well, the ban won't be repealed.
609  Other / Meta / Re: TIL Activity does not work on precisely 2 week intervals + interval timings on: September 19, 2014, 12:22:24 PM
It takes an hour to update.

The way activity is calculated:
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every hour.

I had changed it in the OP when I had gotten a PM from a helpful user, but it looks like people cannot read info unless it is red Tongue

Added more dates to the OP, upto November, for those too lazy to open the spreadsheet !

Make it big and flashing Cheesy

Flashing is done !

611  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: September 19, 2014, 06:42:13 AM
PD should have been in the CFNP section, not removed.

It is closed to 99% of people, but there are a lot that are closed to 100% of people.

An overview thread should let you be able to see all campaigns, closed or not.
612  Economy / Services / Re: Selling my sigspace on: September 19, 2014, 06:36:08 AM

I think you can still join the Gaw Miners campaign if you want; they are still accepting Hero Members and above if I'm not mistaken, as well as anyone who is active in the Mining section of the forum. For reference, a post from EvilPanda from yesterday:

Maybe he expects more than 0.1 BTC for posting 200+ times monthly ?

200 times monthly makes it around 0.0005 per post and 400 makes it 0.00025.

That is way less than what he would earn in Pay-Per-Post systems.
613  Economy / Services / Re: BitHash Logo Design Contest [20$ prize] on: September 19, 2014, 06:27:36 AM

I understand you are feeling that the talented people do ask for a lot more , I understand that people in other countries do have higher living standarts and 20$ is not that much for most of them , but we are talking about people who can live couple of days even a week with 20$ with little talent racing with each other at fiverr (check out countries most of them are not G20 countries) to make a logo. I have sent all of them questions regarding what they can offer and most of them throw vector files and unlimited revisions at me , selected the most talented one there by checking their portfolio and he is off to making something for 10$.

Now I understand you might feel that is the best thing I can get but so far I got better samples than that for free let alone for 20$ , I will be updating  with expoilatable fiverr buddies , since you may not care but I do , every single satoshi I save means more hashing power for me and I care about that , I do not need a logo urgently , I do not even need a logo at all , it is just a branding I am aiming at but its not a must. I would love to get it for free if I could but I cant so closest thing to free is fiverr sellers that go cheaper than most people here.

TL;DR : I do not care how much you thing you worth , there are people out there that makes decent stuff for 10$ , I may not expect best ever but it gets the shit done.

You basically said that you expect a logo for close to free, don't really need a logo and there are better logo designers on Fiverr.

Why the fuck did you come here ?

And if you believe that keeping, say an extra 30-40$ for your company is going to make a big difference, you have no clue of the price of bitcoin hashing power. You will need to go in thousands, and a more professional logo is much more likely to attract customers who will rent/buy it.
614  Other / Off-topic / Re: need someone for change my ip on: September 19, 2014, 06:20:05 AM
hi,

i want to learn how i change my ip pm me if someone want to help.

thanks

Method 1:- Unplug your router, wait for some time, plug it in again.

Method 2:- Use a VPN or a proxy.

EDIT: Additionally, if you are going for method 2, I'd suggest PIA. Costs around 0.006 BTC (3$) a month if you buy it as a yearly package, being half the cost of the closest competitiors. Best quality too, and it allows using 5 devices at once, each can access 18 Servers across the world.

Looks pretty good, would make a great banner. Not too flashy and looks professional

But, in my opinion, the forums needs the exact opposite.
The flashy looking ones grab your attention and become the most popular.

Only exception I can think of is PD, but that is because it has been here for a loooong time. (And in the beginning, they had flashy sigs too)

How does this look ?

Silver should be an integral part, but the other colors need to make it stand out.

Just made this.I know it's not the best, but I'm open for suggestions.Thank you! Smiley

Even though silverwallet is their name, using purely silver doesn't seem like that great an idea.

The color doesn't really stand out.
618  Economy / Services / Re: BTCTalkers Posters' Guild on: September 17, 2014, 10:10:39 AM
The question is, what would a "legit" post be ?

Would quoting a page and providing a link without adding any other information of your own be considered "legit" ?

And what about the interests of the companies ?
I mean, most companies are looking for people to post mainly on the Marketplace subforums, mainly Services and Gambling so that their advertisement hits the right audience.

Would keeping 80+% of your posts in forums like Politics and Society (which is a less spammy offtopic, but still not as Bitcoin related) and Press (which is not visited by many users), be fine ?

In my opinion, any guild or union attempting to garner the attention of large companies would need to, rather than posting everywhere, post in places where the company needed the advertising the most.

A random newb, spamming 200 posts a month in Gambling for a gambling company would be much much more effective in spreading their name to the target audience (people in the Gambling subforum) than an entire guild posting far away.

I'd say requiring 50 to 100 posts between the Gambling and Services section would be the best.
