601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How am I supposed to get over the anxiety and depression involved in all this? on: August 07, 2017, 09:41:05 AM
{snipped}
What am I doing wrong?

your problem is that you think the only way to make profit from bitcoin is to buy it when it was $1 or so and sell it when it is $3000+
and because of that mindset you have missed a lot of rise so far.
take a look at the charts for the past couple of months or past year. the price is always on the rise and it will continue to be on the rise.

on the start of 2017 price was barely $1000 and now it is more than 3x higher! that means if you, instead of sulking, invested in it then you could have made 3x profit.

and it is not late now either! next year you will look at $3300 and say i wish i bought back then, i can't afford paying $7860 to buy 1 whole bitcoin now.
602  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: POLONIEX Down Again!! on: August 07, 2017, 09:28:02 AM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2067487.msg0#quickreply

i think polo is going to be the next biggest fail in crypto world. They are having too much problems and i withdraw all my coins from polo.

I have the same opinion with you, I think the bittrex will replace the position of the poloniex since the service of the poloniex is worse and it is very hard for new coins to be listed .

oh god, i hope not!
i once was hoping bittrex becomes bigger and replace poloniex but looking back at how poloniex used to be, how good it was, how responsive and respective they were towards their users and how smooth and problem-free it used to be i regret hoping the same fate for bittrex!

of course it is different people with different service and may act very differently but it is the human nature and it happened too many times so far with so many different services that when they got big they started not-caring and becoming a crappy service just making millions daily...
603  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin a road to 10k. on: August 07, 2017, 09:22:15 AM
It is true that the bitcoin price will reach up to 10k dollars. In your speculation, in what year?

the true statement is "bitcoin can reach 10K" not "will reach" in my opinion.

in my experience price is all about the supply and demand. of course there is manipulation and bubbles, pumps, and a lot more but all of these are too small compared to supply and demand.
the supply is obvious, and is the total number of coins and it is a very small number in comparison.
the demand is the new people who start buying bitcoin and the old people buying more to add to their stash. and as bitcoin is adopted more and as it becomes legal in new countries and as new merchants adopt it,.... price goes higher and higher.

so far all this has happened but it has been a very small percentage of the total potential that bitcoin really has. which is why i said it can reach 10K because it has that potential for growth.
604  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Cash will kill alt coins..... BTC is king!!! on: August 06, 2017, 11:56:47 AM
bitcoin is bitcoin and strong as long as it is staying a decentralized network that has the support of the majority otherwise if you remove this very essence form it, you may as well use one of the many altcoins that at least do things differently.
and that's what bitcoin cash did. they forked bitcoin and made an altcoin with so little support and added a lot of problems to it.
605  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Unstoppable on: August 06, 2017, 11:35:52 AM
That bullish bar in the second picture is kinda funny. Let the haters know that the fall of bitcoin is not due anytime soon. After Bitcoin remained unshaken on Aug 1st, people's trust in the cryptocurrency increased. They are now stocking up as much as they can.

Yes you are right because previously I never show any interest towards Bitcoin but after segwit I am very much prepared for my future with bitcoin. Right now I have huge hope on this Bitcoin.

why?
don't get me wrong i have nothing against SegWit but i can not understand how someone who is new to bitcoin and "never had any interest in it" now suddenly is head over heals for bitcoin because of SegWit (which is more complicated to understand than normal bitcoin stuff).
606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exchanges decision to support Bcash might backfire now and help BTC on: August 04, 2017, 08:59:23 AM
the risk that i can think of is the deposit risks like double spending or other serious bugs that can lead to loss of funds in their wallets.

so far they have kept the deposits disabled which saves them a lot and removes any incentive to perform a 51% attack. in the future when they enable it this may become a problem but like any other altcoin with small hashrate they can just ask for more confirmation to reduce the risk.

The network is much more stable now because difficulty retargeted downwards. That means the risk of double spending is also much lower now. Accordingly, I believe most exchanges are now accepting deposits (albeit with a larger number of confirmations than BTC deposits).

I think a 51% attack at this point is unlikely. Aside from being unethical (Bcash users will be attacked), the fork just isn't much of a threat. I'm much more concerned about the November hard fork threat from btc1...

double spend and 51% attacks have nothing to do with stability of the chain. it has to do with how much hashrate that chain has and how much other people have in comparison.

for example if an cryptocurrency has 100 unit of hashrate and there is total of 200 unit of hashrate available in total elsewhere there is a big risk of 51% attack because that 200 can switch and attack it. that is what happens with a lot of small altcoins.

now some real numbers:
right now bitcoin has about 6 Exa hash (6*10^18)
and according to bitinfocharts BCH has 400 Peta (400 * 10^15 = 0.4*10^18)
(hope i didn't make a mistake Cheesy) and that is 6.66% of total

607  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fun seeking gamblers vs profit seeking gamblers on: August 04, 2017, 08:43:05 AM
this i guess is the oldest questions that people ask. and i believe it doesn't have to be one or another. you can do both at the same time. in fact one of the best part of the "fun" is the "profit". for example when you win the lottery or win the roll on a dice game you have extra fun and that fun is what gamblers are after.
608  Economy / Speculation / Re: About BCC (Bitcoin's Cancer Cell) on: August 04, 2017, 08:21:27 AM
if hashrate leaves difficulty will adjust and show will keep going .. what's the issue here?

in a normal world there are 1 block every 10 minutes on average which makes 144 block each day. 144 * 12.5BTC = 1,800BTC
imagine you have 10% of the hashrate and lets say each day you get 10% of 1800BTC = 180BTC = $486,000

(assuming BCH reached equilibrium and is mining 1 block every 10 min on average) now in our fucked up world you can one day decide to switch your 10% hashrate on bitcoin to bitcoin cash. with it you can mine a lot more because first of all 10% on BCH is a lot more (nearly 80% of total there maybe more but lets take 80%) and also because of this big hashrate rise more blocks will be generate in 1 day. lets say 200 blocks
200 * 12.5 BCH * 80% * $500 = $1,000,000

right now ViaBTC that has 5% of bitcoin hashrate has mined 25% of bitcoin cash's blocks.

of course things aren't as simple as this and i am making big assumptions about numbers. for example a miner can not just sell the coins as he gets them. coinbase transaction (that 12.5) need to stay about 100 blocks IIRC or so before becomes spendable.

if I understand bitcoin design correctly, it's adjusting based on how much power you have on the network so if u have lower hashrate it doesnt mean everything will be slowed down, it's emmiting btc in about same speed no matter how much miners you have.

If I'm wrong, sorry for my ignorance Wink

you are correct about the "adjusting" part but not considering the time it takes. the adjustment has a period, it is done every 2016 blocks (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Difficulty#How_often_does_the_network_difficulty_change.3F) and it should take 2 weeks to find 2016 blocks, if hashrate goes up it will take less time so difficulty goes up to adjust the time again to fix this. and if it goes down the opposite with happen.

things are different in bitcoin cash though. they have changed the difficulty to drop (i think 25% if no blocks were found in 6 hours!) so the effects are a bit different.

PS it is interesting to see what will happen in reality with miners though!
609  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exchanges decision to support Bcash might backfire now and help BTC on: August 04, 2017, 08:13:45 AM
if they are careful i don't think it can. the risk that i can think of is the deposit risks like double spending or other serious bugs that can lead to loss of funds in their wallets.

610  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Casinos on: August 02, 2017, 11:11:31 AM
first of all adding a new wallet, holding a new chain, changing your whole security system for that coin and all the works it takes is too much to just add anything that comes out.

secondly bitcoin cash has just came out, it is unstable, there is a lot of risks for businesses to accept it right now. the exchanges don't even accept it, they just have the market to enable the deposits later.
611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCH ... can anyone answer some questions on: August 02, 2017, 11:03:16 AM
the value always comes from supply and demand. and in the first release the order is always placed as high as possible then it comes down slowly and reaches equilibrium. for example as the market opens you place 1 order to see your coin at 10000BTC for each!!! then the next guy puts it on 100BTC each and slowly it comes down to logical numbers.
true for all the coins ever listed on exchanges the first time.

and as for supply, the deposits are closed on exchanges so if you want to sell your coin you can not do it for the time being and have to wait.

as for your other question. BTC and BCH are two separate chains and two different cryptocurrencies now. bitcoin is still the same bitcoin as before and is continuing the way it was. nothing has changed and nothing is going to be lost.
thing of BCH as one of these altcoin airdrops. for example like Stellar. they give bitcoin holders a same amount on their own chain and of their own coin.
612  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Cash Fork has Officially happened on: August 02, 2017, 10:50:57 AM
It's been hours since trading has opened on a number of major exchanges. Looks like all of the "moment one dumpers" are holding. This is going to be a mess.

They haven't been able to transfer their BCH tokens to exchanges fast enough. Although the block size is bigger, a lot of blocks haven't been found, due to the lower hashing power in BCH. The dumpers will eventually prick this bubble.

it is because none of the exchanges accept deposits! how can you sell what you can not transfer to exchanges.
they are waiting for a more trusted state then enable it. they obviously don't want the coins that are deposited to disappear form something like a 51% attack!

the volume so far is because of people who already had some bitcoin on exchanges. and mostly because traders are always active to take advantage of wild swings in the early stages of an altcoin release.
613  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Coinbase Faces Backlash, Legal Risk Over Bitcoin Cash on: August 02, 2017, 10:37:15 AM
this is complete nonsense.
coinbase never hid the fact that they are not supporting bitcoin cash and never forced anyone to hold their bitcoins there.
a very long time ago so that there is enough time for anyone to do a withdrawal, they clearly and publicly announced they will not support bitcoin cash and also they clearly said withdraw your bitcoins if you are not happy about our decisions.

i am sorry to say this but anyone who is angry now is an idiot and they should be angry at themselves.

and besides it is way too soon to start cheering about bitcoin cash price. let a couple of weeks go by then talk about its price!
614  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bifle's Prediction for August 1st on: August 01, 2017, 11:23:49 AM
I guess someone read your thread and decided to dump BTC early Tongue

for the past 2 days i have been checking the price only, never checked the charts. so i missed a lot. i always see $2700 so obviously after reading your comment i thought what the hell is he on about. then looked at charts and saw a rise to $2929 a couple of hours ago! and the drop to $2616 and back to good old $2700 again (2760 now).

i wouldn't call it a dump though. it was just testing the ATH and because it failed to break it once again there was a big drop and big drops in bitcoin are always like this. someone sells on top and everything crumbles down and everyone becomes joyful because of cheap coins!

Quote
Looking at the current dip and viaBTC's BCC futures price, riding today's volatility may actually be more profitable than racing BCC to the bottom. Low liquidity makes today a manipulators paradise.
actually the market is surprisingly liquid today. i was expecting a lot less but traders once again proved that all their lives and balances are on exchanges and never leaves.
615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin never sleeps, what do you expect to happen on 1 Aug? on: August 01, 2017, 11:14:11 AM
Am i the only one who wishes that the price colapses?

probably not but i don't think you have that many in your company. and that is only because whenever price goes up many miss the chance or sell too soon and ALWAYS wish the price to collapse so they can buy again.

but the market never moves to your wishes. in the past month there has been at least 2 good opportunities for buying bitcoin and if you missed them, they won't come again. it is exactly like the drop to $888 in March. if you bought it there, you won if not that price is gone forever. and sounds even ridiculous to think it was that low 5 months ago!
616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fork for Dummies? on: August 01, 2017, 11:05:16 AM
If you are a miner with 10TH/s hash power you could do a hard fork and split bitcoin at any time, but who will support your forked altcoin in all the major exchanges and actually in all the exchanges in the whole market? that's the important thing to know, there are already so many bitcoin forks and they are all scams, stay away from any coin that is the fork of bitcoin and only traded on a few low volume exchanges, I don't know how else someone could scam people so easily?

i think a lot less that 10 TH/s would also work for a hard fork. in a hard fork you are changing a lot of things then why not change the difficulty too! and changing that means you can mine with a lot less hashrate than 10 TH/s and still find a block.

but usually all the forks in the past decided to build from block 0 instead of continuing on top of current block. but this time the parasites want the name to give them attention.
617  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e hacked ?? on: July 27, 2017, 08:53:31 AM
Well I managed to dodge 2 bullets, got out a month before Gox went down and a couple of months before Cryptsy but 3rd time unlucky on BTC-e Sad

I had around 10k invested in BTC and Eth.

I guess it all depends too if BTC-e has money in bank accounts other assets etc. They must have made a crapload of profit over the years, so holding on to hope that somehow we can get at least some of our investment back.

If all else fails what are the chances of a class action or the likes happening. Why should innocent investors get shafted because of a minority breaking the "law"

this is most probably not a hack but instead a problem with the law. things like money laundering that the news say come to mind.
in that case you may get the "lawsuit" not the btc-e because you were trading cryptocurrencies there anonymously without reporting your taxes!
as far as your money is concerned if you have not been doing anything illegal and paid your taxes you may have a hope in getting it back.
618  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: New dice site on: July 27, 2017, 08:40:30 AM
the market for Dice games is over saturated. you are going to have a very tough time going anywhere. specially if you are not making your own script and with a good team. if you are going to use an overused script that many other smaller ones used, you are doomed from the start.

you'll need a different design, lower house edge, much faster rolls, bigger faucet, lots of promotion, lots of money to spend,....
i don't want to disappoint you but it is best what you are competing with. people aren't going to give up the sites they are already using and are happy with to go to a new site that offers the same thing on a lower quality.
619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Multibit HD is dead on: July 27, 2017, 08:28:02 AM
i was expecting this to happen the day they started asking for money! that additional fee they asked for when using their wallet was the last straw for me and knew they won't continue doing the "development" for free.

it is sad to see it go away though. i hope someone picks up the development and releases new versions from here on out. it is open source after all. and it is always good to have multiple choices to choose from rather than just have 1 wallet option! specially since it was in a different language (Java) Electrum is Python and Core is C++
620  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any danger /risk having my bitcoins at Poloniex,Bitrex after 1 August ? on: July 27, 2017, 08:18:39 AM
search for these names: Mt.Gox, Cryptsy, Bter, Bitfinex
and currently the situation with btc-e

these are the exchanges that we hacked or scammed people and ran away. there is nothing stopping the exchanges that exist today to do the same.

as for BCC, you need to ask each exchange individually. some of them have not yet made up their mind. some said they won't credit anyone their BCCs. look in their news and if you couldn't find it ask support.
