601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vs Monero - Privacy as the world becomes more dystopian on: November 29, 2023, 03:16:17 AM
well it will depend on your intentions

if you plan on using cryptocurrency for your business that will require you transactions with other clients, monero might not be the best choice for you however like you said monero is famous for its  privacy that it’s considered the most anonymous cryptocurrency right now

while btc is decentralized, monero is still far more private

However, in reality it is arguable because regulators can crackdown on your business for accepting a cryptocoin that cannot be placed under their surveillance. I reckon to use Monero, you should also be anonymous. This coin is not for legal businesses because it will only a risk to be harrassed by the government. How many exchanges have delisted Monero because of this?

For the Coiners to clinch they'll need two wins, or one win and one loss for all the 6-6 teams.

Even if Coiners manage to hang on to 4th place they'll get crushed in the first playoff game by Mo's freight train.

We need participation trophies, something soft and cuddly to hug while crying for the next eight months.

If everyone agrees to join the fantasy league for next season, can we pick the draft order earlier? These 8 months will be very slow and long.
603  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: USTC drama on: November 29, 2023, 01:38:52 AM
In past two days USTD has been through a roller coaster ride, as some started investing into USDT and LUNC though I warned it's only for those opportunistic and risky traders who would be active and knows when to apply stop loss and take profit. Again yesterday it went of shorting spree from 0.078 to 0.0301. I mean iont usually do future trading but was involved yesterday shorted from 0.0724 to 0.039 with 20x leverage and got 8x in returns, but we should not be involved in these risky coins if we are not actively monitoring the price.

I want to conclude by saying that whenever a coin goes bankrupt and makes a comeback, it does have rally at certain stage but there would be more losers than winners hence I feel this risk doesn't worth it a it may go to zero anytime again. Now people may think I got good profit still whinning, no I know how much stressed out and it doesn't worth t.

I reckon there is a higher chance that a version 2 of a token is only for marketing and hype to pump the token and have their bagholding whales dump on new buyers' faces. My only words for these buyers are I wish the smell is a very good smell. Much of the time, this leaves a very bad smell hehehehe.
604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance reaches deal to pay $4.3B settlement to American regulators on: November 28, 2023, 04:33:19 AM
he could be sharing a cell with SBF for part of his sentence.

That is ridiculous to even be making that kind of a suggestion in regards to if something like that would be very likely to happen... it is probably pretty damned close to zero odds, so why say it?, except to make phoney-baloney comparisons...

or are you that uninformed regarding how the world actually works?

Or were you just trying to have some funzies at the expense of the truth (and reality)?

Agreed and it only appears that there are many people in bitcointalk.org that are giving their opinions, however, they are ignorant on what is really happening in the cryptospace.

On CZ stepping down, I am very disappointed that it was Richard Teng that replaced him. I wanted this to be He Yi hehe. She would be a very good follow on social media if she is CEO ehehehhe.

On what it might imply for Binance under Richard Teng, we need to look at his education background and his career. He graduated in Nanyang Technological University in Singapore with a degree in accounting. After this, he went to University of Pennsylvania for an executive leadership course.

His first job was with Singapore's regulator similar to the SEC and worked for 13 years. His next job was with the Singapore stock exchange as a compliance officer. According to some artcles, Richard Teng was someone who helped create important regulatory frameworks and rules for the Singapore exchange.

He also worked in Abu Dhabi where he became the CEO of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority where he also created important regulatory frameworks and rules.

On August 2021, Richard Teng became the CEO of Binance Singapore, on November 2021 he became Binance's head of regional markets.

I reckon his background implies that he can make Binance the biggest fully regulated exchange in the cryptospace. However, nothing is certain.
605  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Big Short movie, BTC edition? on: November 28, 2023, 03:40:27 AM
Has Tether, iFinex and Bitfinex come to a chapter in their story where it has become impossible for them to cause a big short dump on the cryptospace? All the accusations that their stablecoin is not backed 100% by real funding has never been proven. There is a Tether hater in social media called @Bitfinexd that appears to have continued hating Tether, however, the circumstances behind the stablecoin at present appears to have shown that many people were wrong. I am also included in this hehehehe.

Tether is also becoming more responsive on requests for transparency.

Stablecoin issuer Tether and sister company Bitfinex agreed to drop opposition to a New York Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) request brought by a group of journalists, including Bloomberg Businessweek's Zeke Faux

The firms said in a statement that the move is part of their "commitment to transparency," although opposition doesn't mean a complete release of all of its documents. "However, it's essential to clarify that transparency does not mean a wholesale release of all our documents. This approach is not in line with standard business practices," the statement said.

Tether previously made a similar announcement after losing in court twice when attempting to block a June 2021 FOIL request filed by CoinDesk. That request pertained to documents produced during the New York Attorney General's inquiry on allegations that USDT, the U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin that Tether issues, was not sufficiently backed by reserves from mid-2019 to early 2021, settling charges with the company at the end of that period.

606  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 🚨🚨Kyberswap Exploited || Remove LP and Revoke wallet on: November 28, 2023, 03:17:44 AM
This DEX is a joke as it was hacked before and I am surprised if anyone used it again. Kyber Network team recovers $265 000 stolen in hack
https://getblock.net/en/news/kyber-network-team-recovers-265-000-stolen-in-hack
DEXs and smart contracts that are used to provide liquidity are vulnerable to such attacks and it is best to seriously consider using a Proof of Stake blockchain instead.

The hacker is very funny with his head shaking behavior. He hacked the DEX for $50 million and went to sleep because he needs rest hehehehehe.

I am not quite certain if this message from the hacker for Kyberswap is real, however hehe.

607  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Updated] FTX on: November 28, 2023, 02:39:15 AM
What will happen to the FTX-token?

If the rumors that FTX will return are true, it might have some value if the exchange recognizes FTT and if they give the holders the same discounts and other advantages for using the exchange. There is also the automatic buy back and burn mechanism that was being done on the token to increase the value.

In any case, has everyone heard the latest news update on Sam? He appears to have adjusted to life in prison. He presently uses mackarel as his currency hehehehee.

Bankrupt crypto exchange FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried is adjusting to life behind bars where mackerel has replaced cigarettes as currency, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on Thursday.
With smoking now banned, the age-old practice of paying for certain goods and services with cigarettes in prisons has given way to trading preserved fish. Bankman-Fried traded some pouches of "macks" for a haircut, the WSJ reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance’s $4B settlement the green light for spot Bitcoin ETFs? on: November 27, 2023, 04:43:04 AM
One crypto executive predicted five months ago that spot Bitcoin ETFs would only be approved after Binance lost ground on its market dominance. Binance’s $4.3-billion settlement with the United States was the final hurdle before the country’s securities regulator approves spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), many industry watchers claim.

The settlement to Justice Department and Treasury compliance monitors for up to five years, allowing the agencies sweeping powers to keep the exchange in line with Anti-Money Laundering and sanctions rules, among other things.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has cited market manipulation when denying spot Bitcoin ETFs, and Binance’s market dominance had to take a hit before BlackRock’s spot BTC ETF application would be approved, according to a June X Twitter post by Travis Kling, chief investment officer of Ikigai Asset Management.

Source

It is also being predicted by some people in social media that the new king of the cryptospace to replace CZ will be Brian Armstrong. There is a partnership between Blackrock and Coinbase already. The exchange was selected to be the custodian for Blackrock's bitcoin for their ETF. It will also not be shocking if Blackrock owns Coinbase stock and do everything they can to make Coinbase the most dominant exchange. This will certainly be good for their investment hehehhe.

Also on CZ, it appears that he has requested the judge to allow him to leave American jurisdiction and return to United Arab Emirates. The skeptical me is thinking that he will not return because UAE doesn't have an extradition treaty with America. He might also go to China and hide behind the powerful Chinese elders.

Former Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao has opposed the United States government’s efforts to block his return to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to be with his family while awaiting sentencing following his guilty plea.

@o_e_l_e_o. They cannot print more BNB. This token has a deflation mechanisms created through buy and burn every quarter until 100 million tokens are left. There is no BSC token, only BNB. Binance has already stopped their stablecoin BUSD after Paxos was adviced by the New York Department of Financial Services.

In any case, we should wait after Binance's $4 billion payment to the American government to confirm our speculations. However, I reckon it will not occur similar to FTX or Celsius. It will be something similar to Bittrex.
610  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Opinion The IRS Is Making Crypto Compliance Impossible on: November 27, 2023, 02:40:41 AM
I very much doubt governments in any country would think in the way the you have described it. In many cases, it is the big companies that have funded much of the politicians' campaigns that have placed them in office. Corporate interests, the lobbying of this and bribery have become one of the accepted ways of politics. It is a customary practice for big corporations to gain their advantages over their competitors.

Yes, I'm sure there's some of that but in several places around the world its far easier to become a crypto services provider than it is in the US. This is because some governments aren't as staunchly against it. The reason for this is (aside from extra tax revenue, kickbacks & bribes) the government doesn't mind if crypto usurps traditional financial service providers... it doesn't have as much of a vested interest in their success because they are foreign-owned companies. Although it is distant, there's possibly even the chance that they're crypto-friendly because it actually helps their own people.

You either might be correct or the traditional financial firms and bank in the countries might not yet experienced how disruptive the cryptospace is hehehe.

In any case, similar to what you have already mentioned, this shows how stupid this old grandma is. Senator Elizabeth Warren warns everyone of one company that might create a sandwich shop monopoly. A sandwich shop monopoly?

We don't need another private equity deal that could lead to higher food prices for consumers. The
@FTC is right to investigate whether the purchase of @SUBWAY by the same firm that owns @jimmyjohns and @McAlistersDeli creates a sandwich shop monopoly.

I did not know Jim Cramer is an Eagles fan hehehehe.

I wish he will stop cheering. Similar to his predictions that have inverse effects on the market, something similar might happen if he cheers for Philadelphia heheheheh!

It is on overtime with 31-31 for each. It appears the Bills offensive coach told Josh Allen to take lesser risk? He appears to have improved.
612  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: November 26, 2023, 04:45:06 AM
I am presently watching Benavidez vs. Andrade. I reckon if this Andrade has good stamina and he can maintain this performance, he might have a chance. However, it appears that he became careless on the last seconds of the 4th round. This might be caused by low stamina and being tired.

I am quite certain that this will end before round 7. I will be very shocked if Andrade will go to a decision heheheh.
613  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Opinion The IRS Is Making Crypto Compliance Impossible on: November 26, 2023, 04:17:39 AM
The whole goal is obviously making any OTC operative impossible at the regulatory level, to the point users feel asphyxiated and wouldn't even bother withdrawing their funds out of exchanges.
...

The only upside is not every country feels the same way about this issue. All of the giant surveillance state governments do (US, Russia, China), but there are some countries that have taken a more laissez-faire approach because they see Bitcoin as being able to help their people save money by not having to pay it to remittance companies like Western Union. For example, the Philippines has made it rather easy for e-wallet providers to support crypto -- why should they care if it takes a chunk out of profits for Western Union and Moneygram? If it can help their overseas workers send more money back home and into their own economy, they're all for it.

I very much doubt governments in any country would think in the way the you have described it. In many cases, it is the big companies that have funded much of the politicians' campaigns that have placed them in office. 614  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is the Binance the next to bite the dust or FUD? on: November 26, 2023, 03:32:44 AM
@o_e_l_e_o. Agreed that revenues are not profits and also cannot be comparable to reserves. However, if an exchange can still generate revenues that large and can generate them in a bull market, I reckon Binance does not have problems in inflows of liquidity and cashflow. They can pay the $4 billion settlement with the Department of justice quite easily. I reckon CZ would not have accepted this proposal if it would cause Binance to be bankrupt.

Also, the article from CNBC is headshaking. The answer is yes to their question. They were creating another fud storyline.

What made up token were they printing?
615  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 Oscar Awards bets and discussions on: November 26, 2023, 02:41:17 AM
It makes it feel very much similar to CODA where if The Holdovers is nominated, it might be the weakest nominated movie, however, it might get the heart of the voters in the Academy of motion picture arts and sciences.
What I meant to ask is why would it feel more like CODA if you watched the better copy? You mean it would be even a better movie?

It might be because the feeling I had while watching the bad copy might not be as good if I watched a good copy where I can see what the director wanted me to see, hear what he wanted me to hear and feel what he wanted me to feel. We might be losing some of this when we watch movies with a bad copy.

In any case, I will watch it again if a good copy is available and I can be quite certain that the Holdovers will be more beautiful, more funny and I will get the real feeling of what this movie was created for. Best original screenplay hhehehehe!
616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is SPS Splinterlands A 100x Gaming Token?! on: November 25, 2023, 02:38:29 AM
I am very sorry to tell you that Splinterlands appears to be a project that has failed to receive very wide community support from the cryptospace and the gaming community. The pump and dumpers deserve much of the blame. They were only speculating on the token and left many bagholders who were loyal to the project. Will this be a 100x gaming token? It might be, however, there will be newer and more attractive investments in play to earn on the bull market.
617  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 Oscar Awards bets and discussions on: November 25, 2023, 01:55:18 AM

It was also a bad copy, however, I know if I watch it with a good copy once available, this movie might be a feeling that is something similar to Coda.
I don't understand this part, why would it make it feel more like CODA (which was imho one of the weakest Best Picture winners in recent years).

It makes it feel very much similar to CODA where if The Holdovers is nominated, it might be the weakest nominated movie, however, it might get the heart of the voters in the Academy of motion picture arts and sciences. Also, if it will not be nominated for best picture, I am quite certain this will be nominated for best original screenplay.

However, it can be argued that CODA has a message to be more aware on people with hearing disabilities. This might be the agenda and it might be why it won the votes. The Holdovers does not have this type of strong message for viewers.

@Kakmakr. I had a similar argument, however, the voters of the academy have their own agenda and have their own storylines to spread instead of the storylines we see in mainstream news media.
618  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is the Binance the next to bite the dust or FUD? on: November 25, 2023, 01:17:19 AM
@serveria.com. Binance's revenues is certainly very good. I reckon it was more than $20 billion on 2021 and $12 billion on 2022. Also consider that 2022 was a bear market. They will have no difficulties on paying the $4 billion settlement and CZ might unreportedly be one of richest men in the world. $200 million and going to prison for 2 years will be a slap on the wrist.

It appears Binance has avoided biting the dust?
619  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Opinion The IRS Is Making Crypto Compliance Impossible on: November 25, 2023, 12:22:38 AM

Also, something was brought to my attention by @o_e_l_e_o and I do not quite think that this is noticed by much of the people in the cryptospace. The government is changing the words we use in the cryptospace like self custody is changed to nonhosted wallets to make it sound that we are doing something illegal.

very good catch there! they put the "non" in front of whatever the thing is they WANT people to do to make it sound like it is illegal. that would make sense to me.

It was not my catch. The credit certainly goes to @o_e_l_e_o. I thought I had a very skeptical mind, however, it appears that it is not skeptical enough hehehe.
620  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is the Binance the next to bite the dust or FUD? on: November 24, 2023, 05:16:31 AM
It appears I was quite mistaken in my speculation on CZ might reject the DOJ's settlement offer. However, is CZ's surrender enough for the American government to stop the crackdown on Binance or will it bite the dust? CZ's agreement on the settlement might be a decision created to save the exchange.
