601  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitfinex suffered minor phishing attack on: January 20, 2024, 10:56:22 AM
But when I read the article, I wondered whether it was indeed just luck. It simply mentioned that "the attempt failed because the sender didn't have enough money to carry out the transactions". But what if the sender had that money? Does it mean the attack would have been successful?
To be honest i don't fully understand how the 'partial payments exploit' works, i read the articles on this story but i don't fully understand how an attacker can use it to attack the xrp ledger network. However, i was also curious when i read what you just wrote above, that the sender didn't have enough liquidity to carry out the exploit and that is why it failed, but then again they also said that:
I'm also confused as how it did happened and noting that the hacker was unlucky for that reason. But it seems that there's more to this failed attempt as per the article of Cointelegraph, it also said that the hacker attempted to do it as well with Binance and also failed.
So, IMO, it's not about luck or what not because what happened is that the hacker literally failed with the attempt and these exchanges should give us more of technical on how did it happened but if they don't that's fine. With some description about the attempt, it's like that the hacker after exploiting will do small transfers first for testing and see if it passes through the system of withdrawal. That's the easiest understanding that I've taken from what I've read.
602  Economy / Economics / Re: The savings problem on: January 20, 2024, 08:10:39 AM
And yes, this problem has become an issue in many countries, where many young people are forced to work a whole week from morning till night just to earn enough to cover their needs and pay off their mounting debts.
If it's about hard working, I guess that all of us are uniting with it. In every country, there's this the same thing and problem that everyone is dealing with. About the high cost of living even if in the countries that have low cost of living, people there are saying the same thing so there's no escape here unless you're born with silver spoon but they're out of this topic since we're talking about the generation that's believing with even you work hard, you'll get the bare minimum.

This makes them unable to save for the future.
On the brighter side, this is also making them realize that if they are stagnant and does the same routine, no improvement of their lives will happen.

Where on the other hand, business people are increasingly hoarding their money and not giving appropriate salaries to their employees and the government seems to be turning a blind eye to this. It was quite sad to see this condition happen.
This is the reality for some companies and employees. But there's always a labor agency where those employees think that they don't receive the deserve salary that they have. However, whether we like it or not, there's always the exploitation on the employees and you know the pat in the back moments when good job is done.
603  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Knowledge On Bitcoin on: January 20, 2024, 06:41:17 AM
Bitcoin is a legal tender in El Salvador and it became a legal tender as well in the Central African Republic but it has changed later on: CAR to drop crypto as legal tender.
You don't have to memorize all of those things but you can get familiarized with the majority of it. What matters now IMHO is on how you're going to protect yourself from bad actors that are targeting newbies like you and on how you'll be using and downloading Bitcoin wallets. So please be mindful to download only on official sources.
604  Economy / Economics / Re: Thoughts on service-for-asset exchange model. on: January 19, 2024, 11:15:18 PM
This type of bartering is more popular in social media nowadays and more popular with the influencers that have huge following, it's an x deal for which they call it. IMHO, if your company is just starting out and you're targeting companies for having this type of barter, you'll take time until you find a good deal. It's best to start with the small companies that don't have that much but you can use them to be added to your portfolio and from there, you know the drill until you become popular or have built your reputation for which they'll see the worth and value of your offer and service to them for any goods you like them to exchange for your service.

This is sound advice and also the strategy we are currently utilizing.

Setting the table if you will.
Good luck. I'm not good in the actual business but that's my observation. I guess that you'll learn more when you started doing so and you'll meet a lot of fabulous people that will be added to your network. Another one that I have watched is about the power washer guys.
They clean the every side of some random guys house and they do it for free, in exchange, they'll ask for permission to film it and that's their content that will be uploaded to their socials.

606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin changed people (enemy to supporter). Lary Fink (BlackRock CEO) 2017 2024 on: January 19, 2024, 02:59:36 PM
It seems to take more time for Jamie Dimon to do so because he more regularly and aggressively talked about Bitcoin in the past. It's hard for him to change his statement publicly as it is like his public admit on his wrong thinking.
IIRC, he has said something good about Bitcoin and that also caused him to do so because his company launched their own coin. I remember his story several years ago when he talked nonsense about Bitcoin but that can be the sign that he's into it. He doesn't have to change because I think he's already in and just trying to play the emotions of the people that follows him.

Same for Peter Schiff.
His kid is into Bitcoin and I think who's harder to change the heart of is Warren Buffett. He's the typical and traditional investor that don't understand Bitcoin yet or he does but just don't like the attributes of it as an asset.
607  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Phemedrone Stealer targeting crypto wallets, do not click URL shorteners on: January 18, 2024, 11:43:56 PM
I think MacOS is more accessible to some users here as compare to some Linux flavors. I switch to MacOS way back 2018 and it was a good decision and investment as well. Although there is some challenges in the beginning if you are used to being a Windows users for many years.
I've been using windows for so long and planning to do some upgrades and about to get into MacOS soon. And that's one reason of it, the attacks that have been happening there is rarely heard but that's my scare on how I'll adopt the surface and new theme of it but I'll get there and deal with it once I already own one.  Smiley

For this case, it could be advisable though that we separate things with our cryptos whether pc/laptops for daily used. And have a different machine for lets say for surfing the net and whatever things we like to do except our crypto activities. It might be costly for others, but at least you are safe from this kind of attacks. We always need to think twice being clicking any URL shorteners for sure as a result of this exploits.
Yeah, that's one cons of it that it's going to be costly. So to those that have this problem that they can't have additional or extra devices/laptops/PCs, you'll have to be more careful and start with yourself of getting educated on how you're going to avoid these link attackers, malware, etc. Just don't be a random guy that's too curious in knowing what's the link behind those shortcut URL links and a good suggestion about checking them through shortlink checkers.
608  Economy / Economics / Re: Demand and supply directly and indirectly related. on: January 18, 2024, 10:10:00 PM
Demand and supply can have a direct or indirect relationship, affecting market behaviour and performance.
There's a topic about law of supply and demand, they're always directly related. It is much better if you can give some ideas as to why it is sometimes indirectly related. Because with what I've learned in my school days, they're always together and if they don't. Please explain or give some scenarios on how they become like that.

Understanding this is crucial for organizations seeking to optimize operations and competitiveness. Thorough research and analysis are necessary to gain the insights needed.
Actually, it is not just for organizations. But it's also applicable to individuals when you're doing some sales or simply watching the market out for specific products. We can simply apply with the crypto market where it is directly proportional.
609  Economy / Speculation / Re: Retiring early with BTC on: January 18, 2024, 08:35:43 PM
While I agree that it is giving everyone the opportunity to retire early but I guess most of us will just retire and will be living with an easy life but won't be actually in a full retirement. Like if we're used to do things and that's making us some money with it, we just can't quit but we can chill and won't be pressured regardless of the hustle we do. I've got some plans of retirement also with the use of the few holdings that I've got and upon selling the percentage of it, I'll reinvest in somewhere else that will generate me money as well. While I am looking at the chart, I am trying to learn some parts of it. As for OP, if your only source for your retirement is BTC then you should do something wise on your sold BTCs and with that retirement money like find a passive income asset or business or reinvest it again something like that.

Thanks for stopping in, just to clarify I see Btc as way to bridge the gap between early retirement and actual retirement. It was interesting for me to work out if one was to retire early and what would one need to do so based on living in a lcol, mocl, hcol. The other assumption really is you have fiat investments for retirement, so Btc is not your only source but gets you to the point they tax efficiently kick in.
Thanks for clarifying that. I thought that you're only going to retire and rely with BTC as your main source of your retirement fund. But I am not saying that even if it's going to be the only source, you won't get a good life. It's just best that even we get older, much better if we've got various sources of retirement fund and assets that we've invested while when we're younger. Because we have to fight inflation through that method and all stuff that a retired person needs is also going to get expensive.
610  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why don't you use DEX? on: January 18, 2024, 01:55:30 PM
Aside from liquidity, there are various reasons like comfortability and that's why people prefer the cexes instead the dexes.

While this may be true, I'm afraid the real reason why the huge majority, the masses, are using CEx rather than DEx is that CEx brands are popular. They're the ones that are noticed everywhere, recommended, talked about, and so on.
This is true, word of mouth has been effective way of advertisement from the centralized exchanges. Like if someone has received some airdrop from a particular exchange, he'd spread that out to his friends and will say that it was a better compared to the decentralized exchanges.

I have a number of friends and acquaintances who are using Binance because it is the only exchange they know. As a matter of fact I talked to somebody who is playing a pay-to-earn blockchain game who is so ignorant about Bitcoin that he hasn't heard about SegWit and Lightning and DEx but has an account in Binance. The power of word of mouth.
I've known a lot of people that are like that. They don't have an idea about the actual movement of crypto and they're stuck to what they've been doing like that with P2E games and just by simply doing airdrops. It's a repetitive cycle that they've been doing and known for it and staying only to centralized exchanges where they're focused with for those rewards that they might receive because that is where the money is going for most of them.
611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a different kind of wonder on: January 18, 2024, 11:51:30 AM
Bitcoin's contribution as the first digital currency in the world is indeed the greatest.
No, it's not the first digital currency. It is eCash by David Chaum. But to say the first cryptocurrency, it is Bitcoin.

~snip~
What you are saying is mostly about the history of the price actions of Bitcoin and I think that's much better for its title.

I think Bitcoin will skyrocket between 2024 and 2026.
It is speculated that it is going to be the year of bull run starting on this year but the peak of it is going to happen by 2025. Whilst for 2026, it's assumed that we're going to go through with the bear market by that time.
612  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔥🔥🔥 BC.GAME - CASINO AND SPORTSBOOK | $1,000 GIVEAWAY LIVE! 🔥🔥🔥 on: January 18, 2024, 06:12:27 AM
The official representative and support of bc.game has already replied to your scam accusation thread and asked for the necessary details to have your case checked. It might take a while so please be patient as they look at it.

It's been addressed, BC are refunding his deposit and locked him away from the platform for his own good. The case should be resolved soon. They're detecting the signs of gambling addiction, and thus forced to exclude him from the platform as part of gambler-protect commitment. I am not going to guess what happened in the chatbox and what brought him to that... threat,
Yeah, I saw the image posted by the bc.game rep and that's crazy. That's the best thing that can be done to him since he spat out word that gives the sign that he's probably addicted already.

but I think BC took the good and necessary precaution here.
He solved his case and at the same time gave the precaution and the necessary action on what must be done on his problem. It was a good approach and conversation done.
613  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BC.GAME SCAM on: January 17, 2024, 11:33:26 PM
After posting on the main thread and now on this thread, everything seems to be resolved and one more step away is receiving the funds OP. Then, everything else is solved already. Good point that has been made by the rep and that's on how to take care of yourself OP. That's actually a sign of being addicted when you just spit some words that you shouldn't say that threaten your life or you don't usually say it. Anyway, I wish that you'll also change that attitude and I hope that it's not yet too deep of what you're experiencing.
614  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why don't you use DEX? on: January 17, 2024, 09:50:15 PM
Aside from liquidity, there are various reasons like comfortability and that's why people prefer the cexes instead the dexes.

So, people among dark web use this? Is it a good option?
It is a good option if you don't like to pass on KYC which is mostly being asked by the cexes and if there are still some cexes that don't ask for KYC, they are very few nowadays. As for the dark web and stuff, how did you conclude with that matter? It doesn't makes sense because DEXes are for everyone too.
615  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔥🔥🔥 BC.GAME - CASINO AND SPORTSBOOK | $1,000 GIVEAWAY LIVE! 🔥🔥🔥 on: January 17, 2024, 04:04:43 PM
I'm noob here and don’t  know  how to claim.
Asking to all experts in this forum to solve my issue:

The official representative and support of bc.game has already replied to your scam accusation thread and asked for the necessary details to have your case checked. It might take a while so please be patient as they look at it.

I also hope that anyone who wants to take part in a giveaway from a casino on this forum makes sure to read carefully whether they ask for wagering requirements or not, because it could be that what we accuse the site of will embarrass us in the end.  Wink
I think only a very few number of them are not aware of the actual wagering requirements when it is about with these give aways and promos. While the majority is aware that it's not as-is that they'll able to withdraw it without having to submit or pass on any requirements set by the casino.

i also played here for about 1 year, never had any problems with withdrawals or deposits, and even there was some issue, support always helped
i quitted bc.game just because i got bored of it, betting speeds are a little slow for me

I've been playing there for almost a year and so far no problems. Fast deposits and also fast payouts. Top  Grin
Nice to hear that both of you shared your good experience with bc.game, although there are times that it won't be as perfect as what is asking for. But what matters is both of you have been happy gambling here and had positive feed back.
616  Economy / Reputation / Re: Farewell on: January 17, 2024, 02:49:57 PM
I can't believe it, this month hasn't ended yet and we've got this bad news. No, Leo, a lot of us have learned from you. Please spend your time with your family and how I wish that your disease can be healed instantly, praying still for every good thing not just for you but also for your family. We may not know each other personally but that's all what we can do for you now and that's to pray. I still can't believe that this is happening and real.  Undecided
Farewell, Leo and see you in the sweet by and by.
617  Economy / Economics / Re: Vitalik Buterin's Financial Advice on: January 17, 2024, 12:58:09 PM
I agree that financial safety is freedom or, let's say, it is about being financially free and safe, and at the same time, you've got more freedom than the other people who have been dealing with their hardships in life. What's with these people giving tips whether it is Vitalik or any other financial advisor or someone who's well off in life. The words that they say become words of wisdom because they're at their peak and we don't know how they've been through with it but it's good to take some tips from them. But, it's still nice to hear such tips and concerns from other people and give suggestions on what should one do to achieve some financial goals financially. Note that it is not going to be an easy thing and it's still you that shall work on it and don't just be a good listener but be a good follower.

619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paying house rent with bitcoin is it appropriate? on: January 16, 2024, 11:06:39 PM
Glancing through the article https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-rent-agreement-argentina-landlord-tenant one would conclude adoption is striving in Argentina. Paying for a house with bitcoin sounds to me a mistake or lack of financial knowledge. Bitcoin is better than Fiat. Bitcoin increases in value and fiat faces inflation. Why then would one spend Bitcoin instead of fiat on a house rent which may expire in few years?
It's because Bitcoin is money and it should be spent and used. While it's a common use today as a store of value, everyone is free to use it whether for investments or just by simply buying those stuff such as material things and like this, paying rent. The original design of Bitcoin is to be used as a P2P electronic money but because of the feature that it has got for having finite supply, that makes it as a good store of value or asset.

Accommodating the Bitcoin can birth the person more money to pay his next house rent. But fiat wouldn't add any interest in the bank. Moreover the house owner will not hold the Bitcoin.
That's a true comparison, the value of Bitcoin increases as it is a deflationary currency whilst fiat, it's always gonna be hit by the inflation. But on this matter, we even like to see more merchants, stores, companies, etc. to accept payment in Bitcoin. It is for the sake of adoption but because of the fees currently, one has to delay that if s/he can't afford to pay that fee for the transaction.
620  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies how do you feel when your post is criticised. on: January 16, 2024, 09:08:51 PM
Even in real world, criticisms are there and they're even more brutal when they do it face to face. Most of the members here are patience and respectful and don't take criticisms as if they're trying to put you down. When there's someone that's correcting us, let's be thankful to them. Not all the things we know and there is always someone who's better than us. Learning is a process and let's take it lightly seriously but don't think of the people correcting us as if they are mad at us for not knowing the other things they know, thank them instead so that you're going to learn more not just on this community but more in life because you can apply that to yourself in real life.
So far so good in this forum  older users or let's say knowledgeable users didn't practice criticisms. they are too generous, and respectful to newbie not just newbie but all member here in our community.  But we are not perfect sometimes we made mistakes so that some older users correct us and advised us what to do. And we must thankful, cause they don't humiliate us but they will teach us to become better. And also we are all know that in other place even in real life  once we made some mistakes people around us give their negative feedback and worst criticisze us.
Yes, that's true and that's why the newbies have to react positively too whenever they've learned something new. Everyone is on the continuous mode of learning and that's why, there are newbies in rank but more knowledgeable than the high ranks. It's just a classification on how long we've been here. Just be positive at all times and don't think criticism is something negative for you. Be open to any of it and as I've said that this is going to be part of your growth.
