601  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the $17,000+ bitcoin price breakout benchmark to new price direction on: January 09, 2023, 11:58:13 PM
Is this growth another Bull trap?  Why I am feeling that it is another trap full bulls?  Looking at news, there isn't really good one to back the current recovery of Bitcoin.  Instead there is another news that can be a source of FUD that can derail this recovery which is the current update on quantum computers[1].  So I think we have to wait a bit before jumping into conclusion that this uptrend of Bitcoin is the break out to bullish market.

602  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Pure Bitcoin Speculation Dead by 2023? on: January 09, 2023, 11:43:26 PM
Someday bitcoin will actually be used for SoV/payments and not just solely for speculation — but I definitely don't think it's in 2023. If anything, it'll probably take more than a decade.
There won't be any more excitement when that speculative nature isn't there. To tell you the truth what excites the community is the speculation around Bitcoin. Remove speculation from this industry and you will have it muted. Look at how the stablecoins are. There's no excitement there. People want where they will place their money in expectation that it will come out with a better ROI.

Market won't be alive and thriving if the speculation aspect is not present.  Speculation is what fuels the trading, since I believe that it is the core of the marketplace activity aside from the supply and demand.

Invariably, OP should know that speculation is an ongoing thing in this crypto industry. It can't be dead.

Indeed, I know that speculation in Bitcoin never ceased to exist but Pure Bitcoin Speculation do.  Actually pure Bitcoin speculation had ceased long time ago when companies adopt Bitcoin and some countries acknowledge it as mode of payment.  From that there is a basis of growth for Bitcoin and not just pure speculation that Bitcoin will grow out of nowhere.
603  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Breaking RSA Encryption with Quantum Computer on: January 09, 2023, 11:23:01 PM
It has been established by several discussions that Quantum Computer needs many years before they can crack Bitcoin security[1][2][3], of course Bitcoin security algorithm will be adjusted once the developer felt that there is a need for adjustment even before Quantum computer cracks Bitcoin's security.  But media is stubborn enough to make any development of Quantum Computer related to Bitcoin security issue. Isn't the news a good timing for Bitcoin's a little bit of market recovery?  It looks like someone is pulling some strings to keep Bitcoin in the current price or aim to pull it lower.

604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The mistake I made some years ago on: January 09, 2023, 11:00:01 PM
What you just posted here reminds me of the naivety that befell me in the early times I knew about crypto. I had far more Bitcoin and other crypto transactions than you, to the point that almost all the companies that were paying me for my services between 2016-2022 paid with crypto. But I was just exchanging it for fiat then until last year when I joined BTT and become serious with my trading and investment of coins.

Almost all of us gone through to this kind of things when we are just starting out.  The good thing is that we were not discouraged, instead we continue to persevere and learn more about Bitcoin and its ecosystem.  It is still early to join or rejoin the Bitcoin economy since the industry is still very young.  We are still at a decade while Bitcoin mining is scheduled to last for more than 10 decades.  So there is still a lot of room for Bitcoin market to grow.

This is painful, and I don't want to think back regarding that, and you should just let go as well.

Aside from moving on, we should also learn a lesson from it especially if it pains us thinking way back.
605  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A superstitious strategy? on: January 09, 2023, 10:30:40 PM
I wouldn't call any strategy that works superstitious. What OP did wasn't anything strange or unseen. A gambler who thought to have a lucky streak continuing to play until he loses everything. That's one of the most common things in gambling if you ask me.

Now, let's be some superstitious and say, if you play only when luck appears to be on your side, would you call that a good strategy?

For sure is a good strategy to play when luck is on our side, but the problem is to know when the good streak will end because that's the point when people send their balance to zero.

Martingale is for sure a good strategy with the right luck but is about the long run to have a bad ending. If we set a goal before starting the session that would help us to walk away sometimes with the money.

How do you know when luck is on your side?

There is no way to know if you are really lucky but player get a grasp of it and think they are lucky when they won in consecutive huge bet.  I think you will also believe that you are lucky if you hit a lottery  Grin.

The problem people have is they overestimate their luck and their abilities. They think they can keep wining and make gambling into a job. They can't!
Martingale isn't a good strategy.

I think it is not overestimating but rather they failed to recognize when to stop.  Martingale has its own strength and weakness which is controlled by the ability of a player to know when to stop.

If luck was something that was easy to get, or had algorithmic instructions which we could follow in order to create a lucky event, I think physicists probably might have noticed already. Personally until we find a way to replicate lucky events 100% every time, I will not believe in luck. But who knows what superstition actually is and what it is not? Perhaps in the far or near future we could discover luck is actually an integral part of physics and maybe we will even figure out how to manipulate luck.

Best not to count too much on coincidences to start boasting of having discovered a luck formula.  Roll Eyes

There is no luck formula because the same as you, I also think luck does not exist.  It is just a word to describe certain positive events that comes to a person way but scientifically, there is no such thing as luck but only chance.
606  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2023 Bitcoin can take a position discussion. on: January 08, 2023, 11:36:15 PM

2023 year Starting January:

Last year 2022 Bitcoin's position or future was dire. The current price of Bitcoin is 16,532$ But on January 2, 2023, Bitcoin's position is slightly downward.  Because the Bitcoin market predicts the price of Bitcoin to hit $30k between April and May 2023.  If Bitcoin stands in this position then the price of Bitcoin will touch the highest level between September and October.

It is quite vague for Bitcoin to hit $30k between April and May 2023, if we consider the year of 2023 as cycle transition, there is a slim chance for Bitcoin to get into the $30k on April and May because supposedly that is the month where cycle is about to transition (just my hunch) and maybe we can see around sub $20k - $25k range.  In this month there is no good news to push the market, even though Feb and March maybe a long time to have fresh events, I do not think that it will have that impact that will rally Bitcoin to $30k in just a short span of time. Unless a miracle happen.

Assumptions I think the price of Bitcoin will reach its peak by the end of 2023.  Estimates can hit 100k dollars.  This is the biggest opportunity for us to invest.

What is your comment?

I assume $30 to $50k  is possible for these year but I do not think Bitcoin will close the year 2023 in $100k top. I think rather Bitcoin will have $100k on 2024 probably during the bitcoin rally toward new ATH which is after 2024 halving.
607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Failure of Exchnages can never be that of Bitcoin. on: January 08, 2023, 11:09:48 PM
Definitely Bitcoin shouldn't be blame on the failure of a company, or lost of investment of any investors.  Bitcoin is created as tool and is not capable of doing such harm.  Anything that creates negative impact are those who are using or taking advantage of the Bitcoin creation.  In short, people behind this failures are the one to be blame since they have the mind to create plans and power to execute them.  Anyone blaming Bitcoin for all those mishaps and losses are just too naive and wanted to blame others instead of blaming himself for the mistakes he had done.

Bitcoin is developed out of the blockchain technology where the intermediary is eliminated. This makes way for the decentralised functioning of the network. Now the existence of centralized exchanges have taken the intermediary position in some means. In one way the growth of cryptomarket is connected with the contribution from Exchanges. Same time the centralized system failures create negative image for bitcoin among the unknown people. In reality the mistake is the exchange and not the bitcoin.

I can blame media and people who have anti-Bitcoin propaganda for that.  Since these people have hidden interests to push the blame on Bitcoin.

The media just because they wanted to sensationalize their news unintentionally guiding people to think that the culprit is Bitcoin on the poor decisions and fraud action of these centralized owner that leads their company to collapse.  The anti-Bitcoin that is always looking for the possibility of connecting Bitcoin to evil works of man.
608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Announce your first Bitcoin purchase, Bitcoin acceptance for your business here on: January 08, 2023, 10:34:11 PM

Do you have something against Agbe? I see you listed his thread multiple times here that had nothing to do with the subject of the topic, why is that?. Beside if there was to be a thread for this purpose it shouldn't be in the reputation section as it has nothing to do with this board. Maybe off topic or Bitcoin discussion as it is initially there without getting moved or deleted by moderators. Also I think this are all different topic and make no sense to put them all in one thread, it'll just congest the whole thread and it'll be hard for people to pass information or give correction to the OP when necessary especially those that had to do with teaching of Bitcoin to others.

I think @OP can make 3 different threads on his stated topics.

1. Entrepreneur/Business adoption
2. Bitcoin education
3. Bitcoin transactions

These I think are the major categories of topic  list stated by @OP so that the thread won't be saturated and readers will be able to see progress of each category.

While this whole practice only give me one idea (merit hurting) it seems they succeeded as I see lots of merits on their thread and maybe that's what is driving up the interest in this type of threads on the Bitcoin discussion board. You know people love seeing positive things towards the adoption of Bitcoin no matter how small. We can only hope they're all legitimate.

Well, there is no other way to earn merit but to post so every post is subject to merit hunting  Grin  But honestly I do not mind giving merit when it is due even if the purpose of creating the thread is to farm merit (which I think is likely the case).
609  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will Cassino Continue With Wagering Requirements, If Abuse is Eliminated? on: January 08, 2023, 09:52:44 PM
One thing that has disturbed me a lot lately and that has awakened my thoughts lately is casino bonuses and how it works, if you can recall, most of the casinos offer various bonuses and other promotions because that is one of the fasted ways to attract new and old players to continue playing on the casino. But one of the major challenges that gamblers face with these bonuses and promos are the rules that are attached to them, e.g wagering requirements and other rules that need to be met before withdrawals are processed.
This led me to this question
1: What is your opinion on casinos that offers wagering requirements on both deposit and bonuses?
2: what do you think, if all necessary security checks are up to 100% and Abuse is totally eliminated from casinos, do you think gambling sites will make a no wagering requirement on their bonuses?
3: what conditional do you think could perfectly replace the wagering requirement in a casino that will serve players' purposes and also protect the revenue of the casino

1. I am in neutral, casino has the right to implement their things.  The wagering requirement is the anti money laundering action of the casino since there is a huge possibility that the amount they deposit to lose if they tried to meet wagering requirement.  Of course profit is possible too.  This is one way of protecting themselves in possible exploits.

2. No, gambling site will not remove wagering requirement, it isn't the security of the casino they need to secure but also the profit and most casino get back what they offer in bonuses via wagering requirement.

3. I don't have any idea or condition to replace the wagering requirement.  It is there to lessen the outflow of the funds from the casino and I think nothing can be an alternative for that, that has the same function.

610  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: January 08, 2023, 09:27:57 PM
now that davis defeated hector garcia, will there be another garcia that will go home as a loser? that will be a challenge to ryan for their upcoming fight. i am certain, he watched this fight and maybe forming a tactic how to defeat davis. davis will be the favourite of crypto bookies for sure. but it may be a close one. as ryan did not push thru his tune up fight, davis may have advantage when it comes to prep. let's see...

More or less probably on May 2023, another Garcia will be going home as a loser.  I am confident that Tank Davis will beat Ryan Garcia because of ring rust.  there is no doubt that ring rust affects the condition and play style of the boxer especially during the early rounds.  Those round 2 knockout bluff is just a marketing strategy to make boxing fans interested in their fight.  If anyone about to get     KO'ed here is Ryan Garcia because he don't a sturdy chin.  He might end up just like Hector Garcia if Davis perform even better on May 2023.
611  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Are Players Going To Trust Casinos If They Don't Show Solid Evidence on: January 07, 2023, 11:47:35 PM
I think  it is the casinos problem to gain the trust of the players.  In case there is dispute between casino and players, the one who has the strong evidence get the sympathize of the readers and players.  If the casino is just randomly throwing accusation to save funds that is supposed to be withdrawn by the player, they will suffer and possibly would even have a greater loss because of their reputation of being unjust and players moving away from their platform because of trust issues.
612  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Some Gambling Slang and Terms that Beginners Should be Aware of on: January 07, 2023, 10:38:02 PM
instead of "some gambling slang" you should put "some sports betting slang" as the majority of the slang mentioned is used in sports betting. anyway, I am not trying to undermine what OP shared but this reminded me of this thread that I saw which was posted years ago. you'll see more different gambling slangs which are specifically used for certain gambling games(including sports betting).

Much more comprehensive lists of gambling vocabulary.

Don't forget about the table and the house. Although those are common words that's being used in casinos but I think that they deserve a spot on that list.  Grin

It's actually a good list that you've made OP and to those that are starting to gamble, they'll start to have an idea on what these terms are and what they're used for if ever they hear it from someone else.

You can also add slot vocabulary
RTP (return to player) - Expressed as a percentage, this figure simply represents the amount of money a player can expect to win from their bets in casino slots or other games
Deadspin -  one where no payouts take place
Scatter - symbol enabling bonus in slots
Megaways -  set of reels containing a series of symbols that players attempt to match up with each spin

614  Economy / Economics / Re: If your passive income beats inflation rate, deposit might be a better choice. on: January 05, 2023, 12:38:34 PM
@OP you already stated that investment in Bitcoin will give a better yield then why bother advising people to deposit their money on banks?  Regular employee cannot avail the 3% interest per annum, they often stay in the bracket of 0.125% to 1% and besides 3% annual interest is somehow impossible in my country.

Take note only Php500,000 (approximately $9000) is insured on the deposited amount so I think it isn't worth the risk of putting huge amount of money on the bank.  If you have a good amount of money, I believe it is better to set up a small business or invest it somewhere else than putting it on the bank. And if you wanted to bank your money why not be your own bank by converting  your cash to Bitcoin and be in self custody.
615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The mistake I made some years ago on: January 05, 2023, 12:20:35 PM
Mistakes happen but what made the mistake worth it is that we learn from it.  Nothing much to say but it is never too late if we start accumulating now.  We have 1 more year for halving and 2 years for possible another record breaking ATH so we have plenty of time to fill our purse with Bitcoin.

I wouldn't call it as a mistake, it's a small achievement for you since you can hold it after 3 years, so congratulations for holding Bitcoin after 6 years. At least you're accidentally remember your old wallet and your cellphone still able to survive for six years long, usually people change or lost their phone after 2-3 years.

The most important part is, just buy Bitcoin when it's still cheap and hold it for long time.

If I am not mistaken, @OP lost the coins that he bought in 2016, since he sent it to his upline in hopes that his downline will do the same a typical pyramiding scheme where your upline earn from you and you earn from your downline, he sent it in hopes that it will double if his 2 downline follow the process but sadly his 2 downline is wiser and never sent BTC to their upline which is the OP.
616  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: January 05, 2023, 10:13:27 AM
ChatGPT is all the rage at the moment. I’ve seen that people are asking it to predict sporting events. Would you leave gambling decisions up to artificial intelligence? Do you see any potential drawbacks for outsourcing your bets to a software program? Has anyone here tried this yet? Do we need someone to put together a thread of ChatGPT predictions to see how accurate they are?  Any other thoughts?

Talking about chatgpt and gambling decisions, I happen to stumble a stream on Youtube making use of chatgpt to make a decision for his gambling activity.  He asked chatgpt to create a program that will advice him of his decision on his gambling stream session.

It is kinda interesting because at the early part of the stream, the first two suggestion of the bot created in chatgpt gives him a good win but later, the suggestion of bot leads him to a massive loss.  If you are interested on the video link, you can check here: I LET AI CHOOSE HOW I PLAY & IT MADE ME RICH!!... AI IS THE FUTURE!! (HypeDrop). The title is somehow a clickbait but I was amazed on how flexible chatgpt is.  I find the video educational since it shows the initial process of the program setup.
617  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is America the best option? on: January 05, 2023, 09:55:18 AM
It looks like miners moved to United States after China shuts Bitcoin Mining down.  It is possibly due to the lower electricity and of course Bitcoin mining in USA is legal making most of the mining farm company to move their farm in the country.  It was stated that miners will do well in New York and Texas[1].  Next to USA is Kazakhstan.

I think there are country that has cheaper energy but the problem is the Bitcoin mining regulation.

In addition here is the list of top 8 Bitcoin mining by countries and their hashes.

1. United States: 35.4%
2. Kazakhstan: 18.1%
3. Russia: 11.23%
4. Canada: 9.55%
5. Ireland: 4.68%
6. Malaysia: 4.58%
7. Germany: 4.48%
8. Iran: 3.1%

618  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cashless Gambling, your thought? on: January 05, 2023, 09:31:00 AM
In a positive note, minors gambling incident would greatly reduced because the gambling transaction can now be traced via bank statement, except if these minors can freely use their parent's cards.

Just because of this positive note, I'll be open to the idea of the government implementing it. This won't only help reduced underage gambling but can also be used to tackle gambling addition. Banks can help monitor the money been used for gambling and when it begins to look like an addiction is ongoing they can prevent that user from making use of his credit cards to place bet.

Government shouldn't only let the bank mediate with the fund flow, they should also give a program for drug addiction rehabilitation.  If these addictive gambler's fund is suddenly cut, they might chose a bad option such as stealing or embezzling funds just to suffice their gambling addiction.  Money control without any process of rehabilitation is oftentimes devastating to the receiving end.

People might think that they're mature enough to handle themselves financially but that's not true. Also this will help in preventing money laundering as I believe casino are those that encourage this more and with paper money that are untraceable, they can get away with laundering money but if a cashless policy was to be introduced, it'll be hard.

I agree, especially when a person is addicted to gambling, all his financial knowledge will be nothing because he succumb to the uncontrollable urge to gamble.  that is why the government should pair this kind of program with gambling addiction rehabilitation program.

620  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Do you think that Bitcoin is more worth buying than the ASICs? on: January 04, 2023, 11:33:05 PM
What is your reason for starting mining?

How do you define whether a supplier is legit?

Thanks

It's better to mine bitcoin and to do it you need to have enough or too much money to buy bitcoin mining machines. Because once you start it is a great saving for the future, the only disadvantage is that when the value of bitcoin falls in the market, the cost of electricity increases especially because of the mining machine used in bitcoin.

Therefore, during a bear market, it is better to invest in bitcoin in well-known exchanges and play with it in trading, because it is easier to make money during these times.

But if you know of legitimate suppliers that you can get bitcoin mining from you can check out this site
https://www.globalsources.com

At the current market situation, I think it is better to buy Bitcoin than buying an ASIC and mine Bitcoin.  If you buy bitcoin , you save yourself from setting up mining rig, maintenance, and noise created by miner oh, and also save you from the complaint of your neighbor if you are just a wall away from them.  You also save yourself from possible early machine break out.  There is more pro than cons in buying Bitcoin directly than buying ASICS and mining Bitcoin.
