621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 11, 2013, 10:40:00 PM
I have been mining on middlecoin.com since the start now with my 11 MH and I have never EVER had a problem with the site.  The only time I dip below 10 MH is when I have a rig down.  The 512 diff shares seem a bit strange compared to other pools, but they do not seem to be a problem.  I am glad I found this site - the convenience is well worth the fee.

*drool*

11MH must be nice...

7850 for $200 makes 400kh/s...

That's my thoughts as well...

I just got a 5850 on Craigslist for $60 and it's hashing at 330kh/s

But, with the group buy you don't have to factor in any time spent doing maintenence and the cost of electricity, riser cables, PSU cables, PSU/mobo/cpu/ram/etc (if you are out of PCIE slots), so I could easily see this being a good venture for someone who just wanted to get into Litecoins but didn't want to build a mining rig from scratch and doesn't have any PCIE slots lying idle.

Damn!  Good job!  Too bad you didn't do a parlay, eh? Cheesy
625  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New to the forums and mining... on: December 11, 2013, 08:56:04 PM
Actually, CGminer looks really hard and I have no clue how to set up the parameters on it, so for now I'd prefer to avoid it at the moment.  Plus all of the stuff I have seen with cgminer is directed for ATI cards and no one going into Nvidia cards because that's what's accepted.  I have to make due with what I have at the moment.

I've already downloaded GUIminer scrypt so I can start mining, and I've downloaded the Litecoinqt wallet so I can get started there.

My problem is setting up a decent pool on GUIMiner and getting it started.

And no disrespect but I'm not looking to start mining with middlecoins because I don't know anything about them, while litecoins and bitcoins I know something about those.  I've never even heard of middle coins.

If you want advice, you should listen to it and actually check out the information provided.

Middlecoin is not a coin.  As I stated before, it is a way to mine the Scrypt algorithm and get paid in Bitcoin.  You wouldn't have to mess with any Litecoin wallet, just Bitcoin wallet.

Good luck to you.

That is the weirdest product I've ever seen...lol. I'll order some and see if it works before committing to a design that utilises it.

Yeah, I saw those on AliExpress, too... very strange looking product and I don't trust the design of it very much.

I'm about to place an order for 100 16x to 16x risers because I'm sick of running out and having to buy one for $20 lol

Why wouldn't you trust it? A picture is a thousand words. BTW don't ask me about anything about this rig. I won't answer them. It's not my picture. Search the forums for the owner.

Wow.  That looks really good!  Very interesting...

As to why I didn't trust it initially, I have seen some pretty strange/shady shit on Alibaba while searching for products.
627  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Multiple GPU's in CGMINER on: December 11, 2013, 06:41:32 PM

you cannot do all this in one conf file unless both your GPUs require the same number of GPU-THREADS. if your gpus require 2 different numbers of threads then you cant do it in CONF file because the GPu-THREADS parameter only takes 1 argument. can't pass two

Very good point!  Forgot that GPU-Threads is a global setting...

yup just pick up some cheap PoS coins for the coming scrypt ASIC bloodbath , more fun to mine 10 mins every 5-10 days on a cheap laptop, less heat.

Yeah I just really don't see that happening anytime soon.

Which shitcoin is someone going to invest all the time and big money into creating an ASIC for?  FPGA maybe as some sort of hobby project, ASIC no way - there is no way to justify the investment.

No way on the FPGA either.  People have tried and their results were less than desirable to say the least.  I believe someone created an FPGA that hashed at about 80kh/s... but hey it was energy efficient!

ASIC development would just be too expensive to make it worthwhile, IMO.  People think because Litecoin is above $30 that people will start design ASIC's for Scrypt, but I don't think they realize how different SHA256 and Scrypt are... I know I sure as hell don't know anything about ASIC design but have heard others say that it would be much, much more difficult/costly to develop an ASIC for Scrypt.

My problem is that I have no idea where to start with mining when it comes to lite coins, and most of the info from the tutorials are not helpful when it comes to setting up mining when it comes Nvidia cards.

Plus I have no idea where to start when it comes to mining litecoins.  I'll take any advice as to where to start.

You should be able to view this thread.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=259649.0

This is the topic for middlecoin.com where you can hash Scrypt (like Litecoin) but receive payouts in Bitcoin.  That way you can make the best use of your card while mining something more useful than Litecoin.

As far as settings for Nvidia cards, you might want to check out this page and see if they have any optimal settings for your cards.  I've never used an Nvidia card to mine with so I don't have experience there.
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

As far as the actual mining program, I prefer CGMiner, and suggest learning to use it rather than sticking with something easier, but it's just a personal preference.  Note:  For Scrypt mining you must use CGMiner v3.7.2 or earlier as GPU mining is disabled in the more recent version.

If you need help setting it up there are usually some friendly people on these forums that will aid you in troubleshooting, but you have to get your feet wet first Smiley

Shocked   this time  difficulty raise up twice    why??
Not sure what you mean by "twice".  It went up 28.41% which is pretty much in line with recent adjustments:

Code:
Date         	Difficulty  	Change	Hash Rate
Dec 10 2013 908,350,862 28.41% 6,502,229 GH/s
Nov 29 2013 707,408,283 16.07% 5,063,826 GH/s
Nov 17 2013 609,482,680 19.29% 4,362,847 GH/s
Nov 05 2013 510,929,738 30.70% 3,657,378 GH/s
Oct 26 2013 390,928,788 46.02% 2,798,377 GH/s
Oct 16 2013 267,731,249 41.45% 1,916,495 GH/s
Oct 06 2013 189,281,249 27.19% 1,354,928 GH/s
Sep 25 2013 148,819,200 32.13% 1,065,289 GH/s
Sep 14 2013 112,628,549 29.56% 806,227 GH/s
Sep 04 2013 86,933,018 32.22% 622,291 GH/s
Aug 24 2013 65,750,060 29.40% 470,657 GH/s
Aug 13 2013 50,810,339 35.88% 363,715 GH/s

If anything only going up 16.07% last time is the anomoly.  BTW the estimate I trust shows:

Estimated Next Difficulty:   1,158,010,331 (+27.48%)

But it is really too early to tell.

Anything under 30% is good for me because I use a 30-40% estimate when calculating my difficulty jumps in relation to ROI.  Now I just need to get this damn Cube in the mail so i can start hashing before the next jump!

632  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Multiple GPU's in CGMINER on: December 11, 2013, 06:20:09 PM
I know how to apply arguments to my graphic card like changing the -I and shaders all that good stuff but when I get a second card that will need different parameters how do I setup cgminer todo that?

You just put a comma [no spaces] and then add the next variable.

Device 0,1,2,3

So if GPU0 and GPU1 need intensity of 17 and GPU2 needs intensity of 19 while GPU3 uses an intensity of 14, you would change your command to:

-i 17,17,19,14

Hope that helps!

500 words should take 1 hour.

5 usd is not enough Sad

Nah... I just wrote 200 words about a site (to get an estimate on the time) and it only took me 3 minutes.

However, 500 words does seem like a lot of "fluff" to write about a gambling site.

Will PM you as soon as I am done with this article Smiley
635  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New to the forums and mining... on: December 11, 2013, 05:13:05 PM
Definitely switch to Litecoin Scrypt.

Also, I'd try out something like Middlecoin.com since it will auto-convert to Bitcoins.

You can use GUIMiner-Scrypt if you are not ready to tackle mastering cgminer, too.

Welcome to the boards and welcome to the wonderful world of Bitcoin!

Well I vowed I was going to quit gambling for a bit, but I had 4mBTC in my account so I decided to go with that parlay, and it hit.  So now I got about 20mBTC to play with.

Thanks johnmatrix!

Right when I think I'm out you pull me right back in...

You might as well just make the bounty 200,000BTC since you clearly have no intentions of actually hiring someone or even explaining what you are looking for...  Roll Eyes

I think punters and pickers has very bad Sunday just because of this too much silent here on this thread  Wink

Oh yeah, I easily had the worst single day in sports betting that I have ever had.

I won exactly one bet yesterday.  A three team parlay that turned 0.002btc into 0.00448btc lol

lost about 1.25btc in a variety of bets, but am now on my last leg with a .87btc bet on the Cowboys to win 1.844btc

If that hits then I will be able to continue some sports betting but if they lose then I will likely be out of the game for a while.
