641  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: vdragon Erupter-Groupbuy-Scam : Task Force on: August 11, 2013, 12:43:46 PM
For now I beleive it is just an alt of the vdragon, and there are more of his alts out there possible.

"gapthemind" was an alt, too. never logged on again after questionaired

Nope, no leads on that AFAICT.
642  Economy / Auctions / Re: 471 ASICMINER direct shares, fixed price, 4.18 each share on: August 11, 2013, 12:24:09 PM
People finally realised 8% dividends for a year weren't worth it? LOL
Dividend APR is over 30% now, and that's without the sales revenue from this new hardware. Where on earth did you pull 8% from?

^ That's true.

PS: I scammer-tagged him to prevent him changing any details (posts etc).

Please also tag scammer EuropeanMiner. It would be nice if there is possible to restore
all of the posts he made while preparing his scam. He deleted most of them after he was exposed.

He's already banned by some other mod/admin here.

I don't understand how escrow could have been used in this case. The seller needs the money to send the product so either you trust the main group buyer with all the money and then all of the products before sending them out or you send the money to an escrow, they send to the seller and the main group buyer still has to be trusted with all of the products before mailing them out to the group buyers. Please clarify my outrageous line of thought if I'm wrong. As far as I know all of the block eruptors go to one address.

True. Escrow could do nothing but make sure the order is actually executed.
That is still better than what happened here, though, as the scammer would have to get rid - or mine with - the eruptors, instead of getting a load of bitcoins he can instantly convert to cash.
Probably makes things easier in case legal actions are taken, too.

Still does not fix the issue, I agree, and apologize.

But that's not the part that made me mad. Cheesy

Well, if a partial escrow was used here, you guys would have the location where the products were sent to, and probably his ID and stuff if he choose to verify them with the escrower. Not to mention that he'll have a PITA trying to liquidate the miners as we're a small community anyway.
644  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Feathercoin Giveaway by BuyBTC4 Warning-Sending Unsolicited PM's on: August 11, 2013, 11:37:39 AM
I've placed a censor on the scam site.
645  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTS] BTC for MoneyGram/ (other international money transfers) on: August 10, 2013, 04:14:44 PM
Do you accept WU? From US to Malaysia? If not then I can do Paypal like the guy described above. I just need 1 BTC.

Nah, I'm not going to risk WU at the moment sadly as my past MG txes didn't complete successfully (buyer got refunded by MG). Sad Gonna clear my current PayPal balance to bank first before attempting more.

Nah, root access is needed to remove neg ratings, and I'm quite sure apart from spam ratings no ratings are to be removed here.

PS: I'm sure I have a few negative ratings too Wink

648  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best VPN's using Bitcoin? on: August 10, 2013, 03:00:43 PM
PS: I ended up testing EarthVPN for 1 month after seeing a few irresistible deals on them (2.99 USD per month if I remember correctly), and am still pleased with the speeds here. I literally forget that I'm on a VPN. Smiley

Maybe when it expires I'll also try AirVPN (which a few guys recommended to me strongly) here.

I am looking for a good one also. Are there any free vpns? I need a good free one.
If you want a good one you have to pay for it.
Agreed - if they offer a free service you would be the product here...

They are still being given out, thanks to John being an admin, now.

Thanks - didn't know that - probably a good thing (if he can keep up with them all).

Although of course it does beg the question "if you can't find and label 100% of scammers then why label any at all"?

Grin

Nah, I can't really keep up with all atm. However, I do label those which is painfully obvious (to the point of stupidity) like Joey to keep him from trying and cluttering the forums. Wink

651  Economy / Services / Re: John (John K.)'s escrow service (previously known as johnthedong) on: August 09, 2013, 05:45:22 PM
I want to thank John for his services.
John (and a few other guys I've seen) donate and contribute a lot of time and effort into making this community work better than it otherwise would.
I don't know what a beer costs where you are, but I want to put enough in your tip jar to effectively buy you a beer.

Details:
John held some stock for me as collateral on a loan.
He also helped me on several occasions with information on the process of escrow services in general.
He also gave me some advice on community functions.

One hell of a guy.

ps: should I ask about the etomology of johnthedong?

Aww, thanks again for the kind words!  Grin

654  Economy / Services / Re: John (John K.)'s escrow service (previously known as johnthedong) on: August 09, 2013, 03:25:37 PM
Nope atm as it would be too troublesome to do so, not to mention the handling costs etc. Will be in USA after the end of this month.

Visiting, or permanently?

Quite permanently as I envision I'll spend my next few years there.
655  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTS] BTC for MoneyGram/ (other international money transfers) on: August 09, 2013, 11:50:08 AM
Okay, great.  I will pm you in the morning. Sorry for the delay, I was helping a friend move all day.

Smiley Just drop me a PM when you're done. I have about 50 for sale, but lower amounts are absolutely okay. No sub 1 btc amounts though please. Tongue
656  Economy / Services / Re: John (John K.)'s escrow service (previously known as johnthedong) on: August 08, 2013, 08:04:35 PM
ninjaboon is in KL?
what about john?

Yep, and I'm in Penang until the end of this month.

Left you a PM.
I'd like some stock held as collateral for a loan I am taking out.
Details provided in the PM.

Replied, and done.

John, do you do full escrow where I ship you the goods (In this case a BFL Single) and you release the funds  immedately upon receipt, then put the item in the mail to the buyer?

Edit - also are you in the USA?

Nope atm as it would be too troublesome to do so, not to mention the handling costs etc. Will be in USA after the end of this month.
657  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTS] BTC for MoneyGram/ (other international money transfers) on: August 08, 2013, 07:51:46 PM
No. I can send it to you as a gift. I will pay any paypal fees to send you money. I send all over the world typically it is pennies for the conversion fee.

It would cost you nothing...

Damn, you got me hooked. Tongue Drop me a PM with the details and the amount you'll like to buy please, thanks again!
658  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammed by john_nalpa on: August 08, 2013, 06:52:55 PM
Seeing that he seems to be doing this even after being given bad feedback (why does nobody check that?!?), I've marked him as a scammer to prevent more money down the drain....
659  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTS] BTC for MoneyGram/ (other international money transfers) on: August 08, 2013, 06:04:43 PM
I will gladly send you paypal  Grin

Sad Would it be possible for me to withdraw that amount via bank or any way here, then?

Hell yes. That is why I love paypal. I have their debit card I can get money off the account as soon as it post from any ATM. But, that doesn't help you you at the moment. If you have a bank account there you can link it and withdraw in a couple days after it confirms. They have to send you a payment and all that. I dont know if you are there often but it might me worth setting up.

I have a bank account here though, but I'm quite unsure of the fees. Would it be 3.9% of the total + currency conversion fees to bring it in to my account here?
660  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTS] BTC for MoneyGram/ (other international money transfers) on: August 08, 2013, 03:26:39 AM
do you accept moneypak?

Nope. Sad
