1622  Economy / Auctions / Re: ASICMINER Auction: 50 Block Erupter Blades CHECK OP FOR PAYMENT on: May 11, 2013, 06:04:20 PM
Probably would have been if the forum could cope with it. This one was such a mess towards the end I suspect they didn't want a repeat showing?
Yeah, that's true. Friedcat figured that this would work better, although I'm more partial towards a Dutch-style auction.  Wink
1623  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Yacoin only did right by me. on: May 11, 2013, 05:45:16 PM

In before the scammer tag.

I've banned him for the moment before theymos can give him one.

I sent this guy 10btc and he did not answer me anymore after i sent it.

I do not know what information i can public disclose but i will post his address and tx number if some moderator says is ok to post.

Do not make any deals with this guy.

It's okay to post the proof / addresses / his personal info here.
1627  Economy / Auctions / Re: ASICMINER Fixed-Price Auction: 50 Block Erupter Blades on: May 11, 2013, 05:36:15 PM
10  -  but with the option to reduce or cancel if at the time these become available I don't have the btc to purchase.

.... if we're allowed to say that then why would't we all say 100? You should dismiss this bid.
Ah, I forgot to place his bid at the bottom - additional confirmed bids will turn up on top of his. Thanks for pointing that out.
1628  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this the first non-coinbase transaction? on: May 11, 2013, 05:22:36 PM
That's what I'm trying to figure out. The first few transactions were used for testing purposes. When did commercial transactions begin?

Probably with the 10k btc pizza.
I remember there was a few more before the pizza came in. Hmm...

1631  Other / Meta / Re: Altcoin discussions everywhere. on: May 11, 2013, 04:38:57 PM
I haven't been here long but I've seen this point raised several times and I still don't now understand the reluctance to create sub forums for altcoins. Surely all most altcoins are simply scams! alternate versions, variations, or flavours of bitcoin by definition?

FTFY

Lol.. thanks.. but seriously, they're all variations on bitcoin to a greater or lesser degree aren't they?

I can appreciate you not liking them, but is that a good reason to not have sub forums for them? Surely sub forums are simply about making the site easier to use for people?

To be honest I only see one alt chain trying to do something different using the Bitcoin codebase and that is Namecoin.
Most others are just pump-and-dump schemes made by fellows who are butthurt for not being a Bitcoin early adopter, like we aren't all early adopters still Wink

Agreed. Every time I pop in the alt subsection I see yet another pump and dump coin.  Undecided

So will there be more blades or is it just speculation? Do I need to start amassing my coins now?
Friedcat has stated that there might be the possibility of having more blades available for sale.  Smiley

Nah, I'm quite honoured to be mentioned in fact.  Embarrassed
1636  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: I have a scam tag.. Yet I didn't scam anyone. WTF? on: May 11, 2013, 02:16:01 PM
Better use John. I have reputation, but nothing compared to the one of John.
Anyway, I doubt he will send the money to the escrow. His story doesn't convince me. I hope he proves me wrong.

Do you ever Smiley

It's hard to trust anyone with bitcoin, but I would certainly trust trading & john.

They have both showed continues good trades, but who knows even the most reputable member could get their hands on a big amount and scam others, you always have to think, before dealing with bitcoin.

I nearly always ask for documentation, unless it's using bitmit.net or I have a fairly good gut feeling they will pay.

I held over 10k BTC of escrow coins at one point last month for a brief period, but thankfully I'm down to around 3-4k now. My escrow coins come and go fast, and will always stay in the same unique address issued just for this tx until the escrow is released, so I'm not running a ponzi here. Wink

My plans are not to hold more than 5k BTC worth of escrows at one point, as that's probably the manageable level of escrows for me.

CouragedOne, do you agree to use John as a escrow? If so I will PM John and ask.

He did started an escrow tx with me, but went silent after I sent him and his buyer the escrow contract. He's probably just getting my escrow contract so that he could edit it and send it out to other users. I've got reports by people who said that a few scammers were running around PM'ing fake escrow contracts that were apparently 'issued by me'.  Undecided

My reply to OP's request (via PM too, but just felt that posting here to confirm would be the appropriate thing to do):

Hey,

Well, I don't think I'm open to doing so atm as I cannot afford to take the risk here. There is many ways of this going bust easily if you were malicious, sorry for my frankness. I don't want to give the users a false sense of security here as it would be easy for you to get more tx's than the deposit, for example.

Thanks,
John

PS: I know Chinese, English, Malay, Bahasa Melayu and various other Chinese dialects, but Spanish is just not my thing, sorry again.  Embarrassed
