70BTC for ASIC development? Or are you simply asking for handouts to build your own rig?

Eyes. A BFL invention. Pre-order yours today.

OK OK...but here is my reply. I am new here. Go to the very top of the site. By default the Bitcoin forum is tucked in. You have to click the little button on the far right then it shows you all the subforums. I am viewing this on an iphone. I didn't even know that was a forum. To me The first forum I could see was economics. So now my question is why is it set up that way.
Well, by default the Bitcoin subsection is open AFAIK. You might've pressed the '-' button I guess.

I'm very surprised that you didn't notice it. Very!

How's Bytecoin going?
1566  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 14, 2013, 02:26:05 PM
I thought at the very least I could do bitcoin for a month or two, and then switch to an altcoin and have these things paid back within 4 to 6 months, but that is seeming less and less likely.
You realize these can't be used with litecoin, etc, right?
It can be used with other SHA256 coins though.  Wink
1567  Economy / Services / Re: John (John K.)'s escrow service (previously known as johnthedong) on: May 14, 2013, 02:19:26 PM
I am first time using escrow, please forgive if I did not follow everything you need.
But I agree and accept and confirm and commit to send btc as agreed.

Will this order be the first batch to go through, or was there a group buy that already went 300+ before us ?

Idk but its starting to look like by the time we get these units difficulty will be between 13 and 15 million. Good bye roi. Sad
How upsetting..
 :' (

And I'm poking poor friedcat as much as I dare.  Tongue
Hopefully we'll be the first order in.

1570  Economy / Services / Re: Bonding + arbitration + escrow ? on: May 14, 2013, 10:34:31 AM

...

My question is whether such a project has been attempted and whether anyone has served as either a bonding agent or arbitrator in such a capacity?

....

Not in the Bitcoin commerce world as far as I can tell. I've served as the escrow (duh!) and arbitrator in various transactions though, but I've never heard of the bonding part. Why would that be needed as long as an escrow is used?  Huh (who releases the funds after the requirements and contract are fulfilled, thus negating any need of litigation efforts to retrieve any pre paid monies)
1571  Economy / Services / Re: John (John K.)'s escrow service (previously known as johnthedong) on: May 14, 2013, 10:28:09 AM
Hello,
Is it possible to set up escrow and have the buyer pay you through wire transfer? Or how about gold or silver. Sorry if those questions has been already asked.
Many thanks,
Brian
Nope, only BTC at the moment, sorry.  Embarrassed
1572  Economy / Services / Re: John (John K.)'s escrow service (previously known as johnthedong) on: May 14, 2013, 01:35:31 AM
Hopefully I cleared my backlog of PM's.  Embarrassed
Please PM me if I haven't got back to you or replied yet.
1573  Economy / Services / Re: John (John K.)'s escrow service (previously known as johnthedong) on: May 14, 2013, 01:34:58 AM
john I sent you a pm for an escrow on May 11th, but I guess you missed it or are just swamped right now. I have asked graet if he can do it so you can ignore my pm.
Ah, sorry - I was extremely swamped in PM's (your PM is around 70-80 PM's back  Embarrassed) this few days, and I missed yours. Let me know if you still need this, thanks.
1574  Economy / Services / Re: John (John K.)'s escrow service (previously known as johnthedong) on: May 14, 2013, 01:33:31 AM
john can u escrow a btc-e code until i get western union from someone? the code will be for $987.9514
Hmm...does BTC-E has a limit on funds if my account is unverified? I don't use them frequent enough so I didn't bother to verify with them.
1575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Ripples | 1 BTC for 11,000 XRP on: May 13, 2013, 01:57:13 PM
I apologize in case you are not a scammer, however there has being a recent trade of scams and the long con is profitable.

Just warning people because you are matching trends in scamming. Please escrow!!

Yeah, we're also matching trends of doing business. And your unfounded accusations are bad for business. Please research your hate mail targets before just spraying scatter fire everywhere.

We've done trades in wide open that have been:
1. escrow with John K.
2. small payments for both parties safety
3. "you pay first" for jr members (like yourself) that haven't been part of our community very long to HELP build credibility.

Yep, I confirm that. That's the extent I've dealt with OP though, and YMMV, but everything seems fine so far.
1576  Economy / Services / Re: John (John K.)'s escrow service (previously known as johnthedong) on: May 13, 2013, 01:20:41 PM
Been bogged down with a lot of stuff today - I will reply to escrow requests tomorrow. Of course, escrow release requests are processed immediately.

Thanks  Smiley
1577  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 13, 2013, 01:16:25 PM
Oh, please keep the Bitfury OT posts out of here.  Undecided

I'm invested in many mining shares, and AM is the best performing one so far. Getting the chips is just a small part of the equation for a large scale mining farm - imagine the job required to set them up and maintain them, not to mention the specialized infrastructure needed to house them effectively.  Friedcat could pump out a lot of hashes chip-wise, but is limited by the space and infrastructure. That's why he started to sell them for a profit of the shareholders and everyone involved.
Yes.
1579  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 13, 2013, 01:10:06 PM
come on friedcat, accept payment...
Well, it is still another six to ten days before friedcat is expecting to receive these things from manufacturing himself.

Everything I've seen so far is that ASICMiner has only accepted payment when they have goods ready to ship.

A refreshing change of pace from some other companies in this market space.

+1 - I've been requesting a payment address from friedcat with no replies so far. Hopefully he gets the chips soon enough.
1580  Other / Meta / Re: Request for new Child Board of Off-Topic on: May 13, 2013, 01:07:48 PM
Forum under trading discussion makes most sense. Or just go ahead and move them to scammer accusations and get it out of the way.
I'd agree that a special sub board under trading discussion makes most sense here. I only moved them to Off-Topic as they were clogging up actual trading discussion...  Undecided
