Moved back here temporarily for educational purposes.  Wink

 Huh

I moved this to OT originally, but decided that the Custom Hardware subsection needs some educational material. I'm sick of yet-another-scam-ASIC (TM) popping up again with noobies in the tow.

Oh, lol. Yeah, it is bad news. It's amazing that "newbies" will fall for it. Have these people lived in caves all their lives?

Its not only newbies falling for it :/ People (including me, historically) get blinded by money.

In a way you could work off liklihood of scam, potential return and hedge your bets, but any money to scammers is too much.

+1. My track record isn't that clean either...*cough*Pirate*cough*.  Embarrassed

Congrats on starting the exchange. Sad to see the order book so thin though, thr bid/ask spread is just too far apart and way out of line from Gox prices.

I registered an account anyway. Got a stack of coins on Gox I may want to exchange for fiat one day and your exchange would be great for that purpose when your userbase grows (the fact this hasn't happened yet surprises me, isn't our country supposed to be one of the most tech savvy in the world? Or is everyone here content with just spewing cyber-BS on places like HWZ and SGForums)

Keep up the good work
Most Singaporeans are clueless about economics and the value of Bitcoin. Besides they have a "foolproof/safe" money making investment in property when the central bank/government are doing all they can to prop up the property bubble via money printing/immigration policies. Dow Jones has the Bernanke Put, our property market has the MAS/PAP Put.

the sad truth isnt it.

Unfortunately, this is the case there.  Undecided

Meanwhile, the property prices continues to rise...

Indian forum-> market place~>FPGA!
Follow the path!
All your answers will be answered.
A pre existing customer as won an argument and proved me and the board i am selling right!

Cheers,
Wilson

Yeah, stop claiming silly claims. CGMiner has a reporting error according to kano. 2x Spartans cannot run at 1GH/s short of melting the boards or a major advancement in the bitstreams. The original seller, blackarrow here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=187549.0) only claimed 400 HM/s because it's what the boards can do.

PS: I'm currently running 10 x4 Spartan boards at a grand total of around 8.8 GH/s .

Warning added to deter noobs falling.
1388  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: FPGA!!!! on: May 26, 2013, 11:15:45 PM
No, 2x Spartans can only do 400 MH's in total. They run at around 200MHZ each, so it's impossible for them to go to 1GH/s. Stop misrepresenting (and overpricing) the Lancelots - they're being sold at $350 each without bulk order.

1392  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Liberty Reserve shut down on: May 26, 2013, 03:10:17 PM
It's a great shame that the United States government shut down Liberty Reserve, but it should come as no surprise given what they did to e-gold and the fact that Costa Rica has very close ties to the US government.  After I lost a lot of gold held by US-based e-gold when they were seized by US authorities six years ago, I spent some time looking for alternatives which were based in jurisdictions without close ties to the United States, with no history of caving in to demands by the US or other G7 countries, and with a decent rule of law.  C-gold based in Malaysia quickly rose to the top of my list.  I traveled to Malaysia and met the operator of C-gold before starting a relationship with them and he seemed competent and experienced at running businesses, so my decision was easy.  I have enjoyed a problem-free relationship with them since 2007.  Pecunix is another popular digital gold currency I evaluated, but they are based in Panama which like Costa Rica is subject to undue influence by the United States so I would be uncomfortable keeping significant holdings with them.

Disclaimer:  I am a satisfied customer of c-gold, and a former (also satisfied) customer of Pecunix.  I'm also currently selling a portion of my c-gold holdings to buy bitcoins in another thread, so make of that what you will.

Okay, this is news to me that c-gold is based in Malaysia.   Undecided I'm afraid that Malaysia isn't that free as you would think - the government has seized a couple of such companies in the past.

I've seen reports that the FPGA itself can do around 30MH/s, but the board might have to be redesigned.
1399  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 26, 2013, 01:31:36 AM
Just got my tracking number from Arklan! So, to recap:
- ASICMiner only sold these in lots of 300, which none of us could afford (or chose not to) individually, so we needed a group buy; none of us stepped up to organize this, but Arklan did
- Arklan's group buy was the first to complete, thus making us the first batch to ship, thus making us the first on earth to get to play with these
- Arklan has been pleasant and organized throughout
- While it is arguable that the first batch might not have been re-shipped as fast as humanly imaginable, that hypothetical loss of .013BTC revenue for one day -- we're talking a cup of coffee here -- isn't hurting any of the buyers -- especially taking into account how far ahead of the other group buys we are -- and the only person complaining is a guy who isn't in the first batch anyway, so it doesn't even effect him.
Thank you very much, Arklan! I certainly wouldn't want to deal with all of us.

+1 - running a group buy is headache prone as you'll need to satisfy everyone's whims.  Wink
Arklan has handled this remarkably well!

Beaflag,

How did you get such a great price on those quads? Do they have more available? I would love to get me some.

I ordered 4, make me an offer (it will have to be good cause I am really interested in mining with these lol) Wink

Nah, I don't think you ordered 4 from him...

I don't have much to say here in this discussion except that I confirm most parts of the discussion up there is true. I personally got some ztex boards from the guy mentioned and they're hashing fine currently. I don't blame blackarrow here as frankly, some of us here do not trust even our government, and I'm just another guy on the Internet sporting a cute dog pic. Tongue

That said, if I had to sign and send a physical contract every time in dealing with an 300~+ BTC tx, I'd be literally living in the post office - I released an average of 400-500 BTC each day in the past week alone. Wink However, I still sign a GPG contract each and every time I conduct an escrow, be it 1 BTC or 1000 BTC.

I did order 4 on beaflags order. Should receive shipping info today and have them overnighted and be here tuesday. Im sure he would be happy to confirm this. Got in at the last minute before order was sent. John why do you say I dony have 4?

I'm guessing the ... is a joke. His whole post is in a light hearted and slightly jesting tone  Tongue.

You did order 4 from me and I just shipped them about an hour ago through USPS overnight to arrive on Tuesday (holiday weekend). You've also been sent a PM with tracking information. I only have one more package to send out and it is because that person hasn't responded to my shipping quote yet.
Yep, and I was right anyway.  Wink You didn't buy 4 directly from the source.  Tongue
