681  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What games are best suitable for PvP gambling? on: June 25, 2017, 10:19:37 AM
literary anything.
anything that has a random outcome can be made into a gambling game and any gambling game can be played against another person.
for example Dice can even be played against others.
but one of the problems that this kind of gambling has is that it is hard to make it fair. for example when you are playing poker online against someone and he keeps winning you can never be sure it is a fair game or did he cheat.

I believe that cryptocurrencies can revolutionize PvP gambling and turn it into a big industry.

the industry won't be able to make money from PvP games unless they ask for entrance money! which is weird and won't be easy and profitable for the "industry" so i don't think it will happen.
682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy more bitcoin or wait for August 1st? on: June 25, 2017, 10:10:41 AM
August is about 1 and a half month away from now and all this time a lot of things can happen. if you already have invested in bitcoin before this, then i say keep holding that and postpone your weekly investment for a while but watch the price in order not to miss out on anything.
but if you have nothing yet, then it may be a good idea to invest something at least.
683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Should I sell ETH for BTC? on: June 23, 2017, 09:04:52 AM
i personally prefer to consider altcoins for only trading short term and nothing more. so in case of your ETH investment i prefer trading it, as in buy in the dips and sell after a small profit to get more bitcoin out.

and as for bitcoin i consider it as the main investment that i try to add to it any way i can. be it buying with extra cash that i have or any job i do online or trading. all of it will add to the bitcoin that i hold and i plan on holding it for many years.

it is your decision to see which route is more suitable for you.

also a good article to read about ether:

684  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETC bottom @17.62 $ , on the road to 21-25$ range in few hours/days ? on: June 23, 2017, 08:48:50 AM
on one hand ETC had a pretty nice rise and things seem to be over now. and usually when rises like what this coin had happen and prices fall they don't go up much. so the most possible scenario is being stuck in this current price and having one small rise after a while and down the hill from there.

on the other hand ETH has a lot of problems right now and with a couple of days ago when the blockchain failed and also in the future ETH has a switch to PoS which all of these can contribute to ETC's success.

so since this is trading discussion, i say trading it right now is not good. i'll wait to see which way it wants to go and then get in.
685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India's small merchants accepts bitcoin on: June 23, 2017, 08:36:28 AM
this is why i believe regulations are going to be good for bitcoin. it simply leads to a lot of real adoption. and we have already seen it with Japan and how their regulations led to many merchants accepting bitcoin. and the same will be true about other countries.
686  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is something going on with Poloniex? on: June 21, 2017, 08:44:26 AM
Is anyone having problems with Poloniex? They seem to be having some kind of technical issues on their site and their chat box is down too. I hope it is just a minor issue that will be fixed quickly.

There is indeed something wrong, in fact a lot is wrong with their site at the moment.

For one, they are not responding to any sort of support request. At least all I can hear on this forum and crypto oriented skype chats is that their support requests are just getting ignored even though poloniex continues to update the situation in the notice board.

Secondly, trollbox was intentionally taken down. This isn't a good sign at all - they don't want visitors to be able to see the problems that they're experiencing. No support crew, selectively scamming users, trollbox taking down. That's what poloniex's situation right now is. It sounds an awful lot to me like Cryptsy and Mt Gox, Bitcoinica as well....

as long as these exchanges are not regulated and also as long as people continue pouring their money into their pockets in a desperate attempt to make profit from trading altcoins on the "biggest" exchange, they will continue to treat their users like shit! they don't care if 10, 100, or even more users are not satisfied, there is always more money coming to them.

i remember they used to be kind and respectful of their users a couple of years back when they were a small exchange and cryptsy was still around. but slowly they became big and stopped caring about customers!
687  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Years of Bitcoin, short version on: June 21, 2017, 08:26:55 AM
[2010] bug fixing happened in the early years of release. the 2010 only had 1 major issue which was caught and fixed. so i wouldn't call 2010 as the bug fixing year.
[2011] the growth started at least in 2011 and everyone started talking about it slowly then it became much bigger in 2012
[2014] better add the term "hack of exchanges" to avoid confusion. there has never been hack of bitcoin itself.
[2016] + mining power huge rise
[2017] + first big country to accept bitcoin officially as a legal way of payment (Japan), and then other countries to follow in its footsteps. + addition of bitcoin to largest Forex broken in the world.

the rest looks good to me. also you can take a look at this link, it has very good information in it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_bitcoin

also a cool website with lots of cool information: http://historyofbitcoin.org/
688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Coinbase hacked!! Eth DOWN, on: June 21, 2017, 08:12:12 AM
i don't see any relationship between the two, it is the normal massive dumping of a heavily pumped altcoin. which was bound to happen sooner or later and people have been warning others about this dump a while back.
the dump started before coinbase announcement by the way.

and the warning shown on the coinbase website doesn't indicate any hacks, it may be another bug which was exploited in ethereum itself and they are protecting themselves.
689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what are safe reliable ways of securing my bitcoins / bitcoin wallets? on: June 19, 2017, 09:32:30 AM
Hey all, this question has been asked before in older topics / threads but those are old threads and as a result the methods are probably vunerable / outdated now, So I would like to know the safe reliable ways of securing bitcoins / bitcoin wallets? is it advisable to zip/ encrypt and upload in cloud? I would like to know different ways to protect my bitcoins. Hope to get some response.

the way to store your bitcoin has always been the same way. tools may have changed, or their bugs may have been fixed but it is always the same.

you have two options:
1. storing private keys in a cold manner. this means you use any trusted wallet client or generally any code that can generate a private key for you and is trusted (like bitaddress.org) and then write that private key down or print it on a piece of paper or wood or metal or whatever.

2. storing the wallet file. this method is a digital copy so it will have risks of its own such as getting hacked and have your password cracked if it is not strong enough. or lost the file because of hardware failure . but it still is a good way of keeping a backup. just remember to use a very strong password.

now hardware wallets is like the #2 option. they are holding a digital copy of your private keys and have a built in encryption and security measures. but obviously it is going to cost you. they are not free or cheap like using a paper wallet, but they are convenient and easy to use if you want high security and less hassle of achieving it.
690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum is a good investment move on: June 19, 2017, 08:49:22 AM
Why would you call it a scamcoin whereas its doing very good for itself?
the only thing that ethereum did good was to have its price increased! meaning profit for those who got in early. it is not doing good in any other aspect.
- it has a big premine of 70+ million which is 77% of current total supply
- it doesn't have any cap meaning it will keep on producing supply (more supply + less demand = price drop)
- it has a buggy code, it can easily be abused through smart contracts just like how DAO abused it.
- the cost of creating a smart contract is pretty high compared to other platforms. so a regular developer can not work with ethereum easily without spending a lot of money.
- the transaction costs (the fees) are rising and last time i checked they are $1.4 on average.

And I wasn't aware that I am publishing in the wrong sub-forum
now you know, use the button at the bottom left side of this page called "move topic" to move it to altcoin board. Smiley

...
I personally don't think it's a terrible investment, so which altcoin do you consider being the best investment?
it is a terrible investment right now because it is in a bubble and if you read that link you can see what the risks ICOs are causing are. which means there is a much bigger risk of a big drop than there is any risk of rise.
it was certainly a very good investment before i even made a topic back when it was a good time to invest in it hint: price was 0.007-0.01BTC

as for which other altcoin, any other altcoin that has not been pumped has more potential of giving profit than this.
691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum is a good investment move on: June 19, 2017, 08:31:16 AM
exactly because
- new accounts (lots of throwaways)
- also known ethereum advertisers
say it is a good investment. and more importantly they say it in the bitcoin board to get more attention.
also because
- the price is falling
- and the volume has declined hard in the past few days
- also because of all the reasons laid out perfectly in this article: https://medium.com/@WhalePanda/i-was-wrong-about-ethereum-804c9a906d36

it means ethereum is a terrible investment.
692  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sold on: June 19, 2017, 08:24:22 AM
when the user kwukduck comes here and agrees with you that should be a warning to you that you must be doing something wrong because the quacker wanker is known to always be against the market movement direction.

but as others have said it was a good idea to take some profit out. i think all the good investors have done it. you should never go all-in in both investing and also getting out.
693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you think about Casino with 0% Edge? on: June 18, 2017, 10:18:01 AM
..
User vs User 0% house edge bets have been tried before in peerbet and were kinda fun. The only downside to me was that it wasn't instant since it worked like an exchange. Users would have to post up requests for other users to agree on the odds and match them.

i think primedice used to offer this and it was pretty fast. i never tried it myself back then. but from what i have read and remember, it was fast. you both went online and you could find people easily who were interested in playing against you and made the bets live.
694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are ICO's a safe way to invest? on: June 18, 2017, 09:35:05 AM
I am new to ICO investing. I invested 1 btc in adel coin ICO and it has turned into 2.3 btc. I am wondering if ICO's are a sureshot way to get massive returns?

NOT AT ALL.
if you earned a profit once that doesn't mean it will be repeated again. to be honest in most cases you have a much better chance if you play a dice game instead! seriously, just put the money in and roll on 2x, you will have a better chance.

some people say you have to research the dev, the project, etc and while that is all good but none of it is going to change much about your ability to speculate the final price of your ICO tokens. the risk is lowered by a little bit, which won't change the final result.
695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Predict the date for the 'Flippening' - on: June 18, 2017, 09:21:14 AM
the fact that you keep insisting about this topic on a bitcoin forum and on a bitcoin sub instead of posting it on the correct sub (being altcoin board) means you don't even believe this yourself and you are trying so hard to convince some uninformed people around here to possibly fall for it.

otherwise here is altcoin board: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=67.0
and here is ethereum forum: https://forum.ethereum.org/

go there and enjoy your better crypto instead of wasting your time on a -quote- cripple bitcoin...-quote-
696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's still really hard to use bitcoin as a regular currency on: June 18, 2017, 09:14:12 AM
Bitcoin fees have become too big now for day to day smaller transactions. I paid over ten dollars for a five hundred dollar value transaction and it took also twnety four hours plus to get through to the other side. So Bitcoin is only best used for bigger transactions in my view that is.

Yeah beside many thing advantages from increasing price of bitcoin,  that matter is disadvantages and affect of bitcoin price was going to the moon. Year ago when the price still 400 -  600 dollars only less than 1 dollars for making bitcoin transactions.
I think 10 dollars for once transaction (send 50 dollars) is very expensive.

last year around $400 price bitcoin transactions were free! there was no spam attack, there was no backlog, there was no increased fees. these things are only for this year, started from early 2017. back then you could have sent a transaction with 10,000 satoshi (about $0.04) or even less and have it confirmed in next block.
697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Switch to ETH before possible hard fork on: June 16, 2017, 12:44:19 PM
first things first: what possible hard fork? and why do you even fear a hard fork? do you even know what it is?
a hard fork is just a term used for projects when they (to put simply) add an upgrade, and that is what bitcoin plans on doing (one route is that at least, the other is soft fork). and there is no fear in a hard fork if it is done correctly and all the debates and all the postponing is done to do it correctly and with least amount of risk.

as for your decision. you are choosing an altcoin that has a higher chance of doing a hard fork. an altcoin that has already had 5 forks which 1 of them led to a big network split and lots of money lost.
and there is no guarantee that another one of these current ICOs don't do the same thing as DAO did.
698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: switching from btc to alts? Can altcoins sustain upward trend? on: June 16, 2017, 12:20:36 PM
Because of some issues that Bitcoin is having some users are thinking about abandoning the Bitcoin and choosing some alts. But to my opinion this would be wrong decision. Although many altcoins are showing rising I don't see any particular potential to replace the Bitcoin or achieve its value. So I wouldn't switch to any alt at the moment.

you usually abandon something for another better thing!
like abandoning old fiat and banking system to move to the decentralized system that bitcoin has offered.

so if you want to find an alternative for bitcoin, that alternative must be better. not just rising in price!
and with that in mind, there is nothing better than bitcoin. there are a lot of awesome features in altcoins but when you check all the pros and cons of each of them you will see that they also have numerous flaws.

That is a good point,of course you have to select a better option. As of now, still its OK with bitcoin. If you are going to abandon it, better  transfer it to the top ten cryptocurreny in coinmarketcap. At least, it has a big market capitalization.

again you didn't understand my point.
the top 10 cryptocurrencies on marketcap are on top because they have a big number called marketcap. it does not indicate they are better than bitcoin or even be good!
it just shows they have either a high price or a high amount of coins available. such as XRP for example.

as far as investment and making profit is concerned altcoins are awesome. they get pumped 500% to 1500% in a short time like a week and give you a lot of profit if you act quick.
but as a real decentralized cryptocurrency that can act both as a secure store of value and a secure currency, they are not so good.

700  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do people create more than one account in BTC ? on: June 14, 2017, 11:46:25 AM
there is no "account in BTC". if by any chance you mean multiple bitcoin addresses then it is because a bitcoin address is not like your bank account to be reused. you need to generate a new address for each transaction.
read more about it here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Address_reuse

unless by account you mean accounts on services such as coinbase which offer wallets then i don't know why or if they do that!
