Did anyone watch Babylon last night? Directed by Danny Boyle and written by the Peep Show guys.

Well how would a company make a Bitcoin clone? They can't as they can not own a decentralised currency. They would have to make it centralised and then it would not be like Bitcoin.
Well it'd probably just be a premine, and/or just a centralised crypto rather than a decentralised one. It wouldn't be the first.

from gmaxwell 21 January 2013 And you'll note that page is citing a forum thread from 2011. Bitcoin v0.8 rolled out the first round of fixes to eventually remove malleability way back then too... and we've seen bouts of amounts of malleability use on the network, back in 2012 if not sooner— I haven't grepped my logs. I overlooked the 2013 But if it did occur, then a spend with the same input, output and quantity should have shown up to the receiver address right? Just not with the original txout. It wouldn't explain a transaction delay where nothing is transacted or would it? Let me explain further, ppl dont receive their coins isnt because of this. Its because Gox system (bookkeeping) got messed up and send out non available coins since all tx are chain-linked. What the hell were they sending out then? Do they have a coin deficit or something?

withdraws are open. So MtGox back to "normal"
Now we must just wait for settle the whole mess.
For mtgox back to "normal" means back like they were before , a total mess. Normal ie not really fully functional. Normal for them is not being able to get money out and ages to get in.

Great, this non issue got real FUD potential outside Bitcoin land.
I hope that MtGox already realized that this update they published on a problem in theIR bitcoin software will back fire really bad on them. From a business perspective I would fire whoever is responsible for the published "excuse"
Nevermind outside of Bitcoin land, look what happened inside it. I cannot stand fickle panic sellers.

This figure seems further and further away. Now is definitely a good time to buy if you were wanting to get back in. I can't see any more bad news coming now. Hopefully we'll get a load of good news over the rest of the year.

I realise that and the loss of 7 BTC has been an expensive lesson. Hopefully this is a warning to others, would be nice to be 100% certain that it is due to that website that I have lost the coins though
My bet would be on the vanity site you used, because your other wallets are fine. IF your other wallets are fine then it's a good chance that the problem was with the website.

Ok, so MtGox's press release claims that they are working with the core dev team to work through their issues, which are related to a hereto unnoticed bug in the bitcoin protocol. If this is the case, a member of the dev team should be in a position to confirm this - does anyone know if they have, and if so where?
One of the devs has made a statement. It was a problem that they were aware of abut the issue was with Gox's outdated programs they were continuing to use.

Businesses will come and go. Bad businesses should come and go even faster.
It may be bad for an exchange to go out of business, but gox operating as it currently is seems much more damaging to Bitcoin on a whole. I just wish it'll go away. I agree. Bitcoin will recover, Gox probably wont.

|
Is it actually a flaw in the Bitcoin protocol, or something wrong with Gox's software?

Isn't it the people who are the volatile party here? I don't think we'll ever get passed this volatility if we continue to peg it to another currency and continue to sell it for lower and lower prices. Surely if people held it rather than sold on the whiff of any bad news then this wouldn't be a problem.

I reckon the seller is just trying his luck here. Even if there was anything on it you're unlikely to get it back.

No not possible, but hopefully it can be a permanent alternative. People need a physical currency that they can hold in their hand and spend. No matter how easy it becomes to use, there will still be old school people using matress money
I'm sure people said that about credit cards too, but they're much more commonly used than cash these days -- people will get over it with time Some of the older generations don't even have a cell phone of a computer that connects to the internet... I think some sort of digital currency will become dominant eventually, but I'm sure there will always exist in other physical forms too.

wow newbs and weak hands you just suffered THE GOX.....you have been Goxxed' was that really 100 on btc-e just then......
if mark karples had a buy in on btc-e just before he released he just became solvent again.
Maybe this will be the conspiracy in order to save the ship. Wouldn't surprise me if it was an inside job. People should boycott gox now regardless.

You do not need to refer new members to cycle. No recruiting necessary. You can earn Bitcoin by recruiting, earn 0.001 BTC for every paid position you referrals purchase (5 Levels Deep). You can cycle more quickly by recruiting members, recruit 2 members in the same line as you invested, and cycle immediately.
You don't need to refer new members, but you can earn btc by recruiting lol Just another pyramid Yeah, but it the name of it sounds like one of those double your bitcoin scams too. Double dodgy.

I think that you gotta get over some number of posts to be able to post on other boards.
yeah that might be the reason..! because i can't post in few sub-forums too, few are locked for me, but i can see other can post there. What subforums can you not post in?

So this is pure FUD by gox? When are these guys actually going to go under? Cannot fathom how they're still in business. They're an exchange where you can't get money in or out, so pretty pointless... DIE GOX, DIE!
