701  Economy / Speculation / [WO] Why the fuck would I *want* to “avoid an ignore” from *you*? LOL, big shot. on: November 10, 2020, 07:08:22 AM

Why?

To avoid an ignore?  Roll Eyes

Pulling a mindrust, are you?  Roll Eyes

[...]

Whatever. The next stupid answer I get from you will make me ignore you forever. So think well before quoting me next time.

Why do some people see this as some sort of a threat?  —Especially against me, of all people?  Oh noes, I am so terrified that you may ignore me.

A nonexistent cat’s reaction:

Yes, please!  Place me on your ignore list.  Forever.  It is your loss, and I do not want for you to read my posts.  Thank you.

If you are not reading it, then it is not for you.

Think about it - there is only one Trump supporter on this forum who was willing to put his money where his mouth is on the 2020 election,

Zeroth of all, that is a carefully worded lie by omission:  As you damn well know, a non-supporter of Trump bet on Trump.*

And first of all, perhaps eddie was the only one willing to risk potentially giving money to you.

(* N.b., PrimeNumber7 posted when I had written most of this post, and I was looking for the perfect example of media bias directly targeted to influence the outcome.)

and that was a relatively advantageous bet on an incumbent.

Are you fucking dense?  Roll Eyes

The betting markets are pricing a ~2/3 chance that Biden will win.
And besides, with how bias the media was,

Just for instance, brainwashing the voting votaries to believe that the outcome was a foregone conclusion—and by the way, my artistic eye appreciates the juxtaposition of a calm, placid Biden image juxtaposed against an upset-looking Trump image:

On Election Day, they just had to pump Biden’s EC chances by another percentage point:

(Images are links.  Clicky-clicky.)
[Trump was] a relatively advantageous bet
That's really bizarre

31 years ago #history edit: #WallObserver

Source: BBC/getty images - in case someone claims I pretend to have taken this photo myself.

Thanks for remembering history.

One step forward—two steps back...

Are we the commies now?

Some years ago, I spoke to an erstwhile East German who was already quite elderly.

He loathed Communism, despised the DDR government,—but hated the Americans worse, and accordingly hated the BRD American satellite even worse than the DDR Soviet satellite.

His view:  In the DDR, all decent people knew that the system was their enemy.  But Reunification had poisoned people.  The culture became Americanized.  Instead of focusing on internal resistance and external survival, as in the DDR, people lived in a shallow fantasy of consumerism, trash culture, and meaningless games that they believed meant “freedom”.  The Americanized BRD did what the Sovietized DDR never could:  It killed people’s spirits from the inside out.

If that sounds like me, it is only because along the course of my life, I have learned from others; and I hereby recount in my own words what I learned from the real-life experiences of East Germans, Russians, and others whom I have known from the Eastern bloc, as viewed through the integral lens of my studies of philosophy and history.

Quote from: Alexander Solzhenitsyn
Without any censorship, in the West, fashionable trends of thought are carefully separated from those that are not fashionable.  Nothing is forbidden, but what is not fashionable will hardly ever find its way into periodicals or books or be heard in colleges.  Legally, your researchers are free, but they are conditioned by the fashion of the day....  There is a dangerous tendency to form a herd....

V8s, do you remember when in 1978, Solzhenitsyn got booed by a bunch of dumb Americans at Harvard*?  If not, I will post more info (unless I get bored, and decide just to leave the unmitigated savages in suspense).  There was a reason why he returned to Russia when he could.

* Almost two decades after Timothy Leary had already set in motion the institutional poisoning of Harvard’s campus culture with LSD and psilocybin, I might add...  Dear conservatives, there really is nothing left to conserve!

Although I have some deep philosophical disagreements with Solzhenitsyn, I have no doubt that he felt in his bones a deep revulsion for the sickness of the West.

Quote from: Alexander Solzhenitsyn
Should one point out that from ancient times decline in courage has been considered the beginning of the end?  [...]

The defense of individual rights has reached such extremes as to make society as a whole defenseless against certain individuals.  It is time, in the West, to defend not so much human rights as human obligations.  [...]

How many hasty, immature, superficial, and misleading judgments are expressed every day, confusing readers, without any verification....  Thus we may see terrorists made heroes, or secret matters pertaining to one’s nation’s defense publicly revealed, or we may witness shameless intrusion on the privacy of well-known people under the slogan “everyone is entitled to know everything.”  [...]

Quote from: Alexander Solzhenitsyn
A fact that cannot be disputed is the weakening of human beings in the West, while in the East they are becoming firmer and stronger....  After the suffering of decades of violence and oppression, the human soul longs for things higher, warmer, and purer than those offered by today’s mass living habits, introduced by the revolting invasion of publicity, by TV stupor, and by intolerable music.
* Solzhenitsyn would not have been a fan of “hookers, Lambos, and blow”.

P.S., for the benefit of the Wall, I should observe that diametrically opposite to idiotic popular perceptions promulgated in the Western mass media, Russian women are not cheap sluts like Western women (worst of all American women).  —Or perhaps it may be better said that Russia dumps its filthy sluts and two-faced gold diggers by exporting them to their proper place in America, while keeping the good ones at home.

Here's that Guinness you bought me a while back.

Damn @poolminor.... What n00b beer drinking is that?

Should have bought a Jupiler, Stella, Duvel, Omer, Tripel Karmeliet, Affligem Blond, Chimay Blauw, Westmalle Tripel, La Chouffe, Orval, Pauwel Kwak, Lindemans kriek, Gueze, Chimay triple....

Whatever dude, always go for a Belgian beer..... Never regret it, this list could be a whole WO page full ...

Everybody fears the next big war in all of the wrong places!

The thermonuclear apocalypse of World War III will be ignited when België invades Eire in a dispute over beer.

The Germans will try to sit this one out, whilst laughing at them both.  But nobody will survive the rising tide of war, after it is revealed that the Irish have been using the Guinness brewery as cover for a secret atomic weapons programme.  (Protip:  Guinness is radioactive—Irishmen are proud of this.)

After the Irish turn Belgium into a parking lot, the Germans just will not be able to resist driving on through to circumvent the mushroom-farm bunkers of the Maginot Line, and settle some old scores with the French.  Roused to Gallic fury in the spirit of Roland, the French will then decide to invade Russia for a rematch of that embarrassing little tiff in 1812.  The Russians will then decide to nuke America just on principle; and as his final act in office, the very last American President (whoever that may be) will elect to trade some nukes with the Chinese.

Then, everybody will nuke Poland.  Just because.

After the insapient talking monkeys are done nuking each other to total extinction, and the whole world has been made blessed terra nullius, the robots will emerge from their secret underground bunkers, and rule a joyously humanfree world with everlasting peace.

It all starts with beer.  See?

Beer is the cause of world peace. 🙃☮
707  Economy / Speculation / [WO] Details, 007! on: November 09, 2020, 05:07:44 AM
On the subject of Sean Connery/007, have you heard that the next James Bond will be a black woman, Lashana Lynch?
She sees it as "challenging stereotypes" and "is greatful to challenge these narratives". We are moving away from a poisoning masculinity, she says to Harper's Bazaar.

Don't they realize that James Bond is so popular because he is a stereotype?
Remove the stereotype and there is no James Bond. This is going to end up a disaster, go woke, go broke.

Got a link?  Three seconds of searching did not find the exact quotes, including the misspelling “greatful” which Harper’s Bazaar would be unlikely to use.  It did, however, find this 16-month old news about a film that has probably (?) been released (I do not care—did not follow links—and am not in the mood to do real sleuthing OSINT spycraft on this):

Lashana Lynch Probably Isn't the New James Bond, but She Is the New 007

The iconic role of Bond apparently won't be played by a woman of color after all.

By Amy Mackelden
Jul 21 2019, 11:38 am EDT

[...] It was recently announced that British actress Lashana Lynch is set to become the new 007, with many assuming she'll be taking over for Daniel Craig in the titular role. However, that's not exactly the case.

Here, we break down what you need to know about Lynch and her upcoming role.

She's not the new James Bond.

Despite misleading headlines about Lynch's role in the new Bond movie, the British actress will not be playing the character of James Bond. As the Daily Mail reported, "She's not the new Bond, but a new character who takes over his secret agent number after he leaves MI6."

An "insider" allegedly told the Daily Mail, "There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says, 'Come in 007,' and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful, and a woman." The source continued, "It's a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he's been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman."

Sadly, those of us who presumed the franchise was ready to move into the 21st century by casting a woman of color in the leading role have been misled. Rather, the rumors regarding Lynch's role have been blown out of proportion, and she's not actually replacing Craig in the iconic part.

But she is the next 007?

Though Lynch's character, Nomi, isn't the new Bond, she is the new 007. According to the movie's official synopsis, "Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica." Unsurprisingly, the superspy needs to return to service, but when he gets back to MI6 in London, another agent has taken his moniker of 007, and that just so happens to be Lynch's Nomi.

While this presumably could lead to Lynch taking over as the legendary spy, it seems unlikely, especially since executive producer Barbara Broccoli has quashed the idea. Speaking to The Guardian in October 2018, Broccoli said, "Bond is male." She continued, "He's a male character. He was written as a male and I think he'll probably stay as a male."

As for the current trend of retooling male roles to feature females (remember the outcry over the first female Doctor Who?), Broccoli was firm, "We don't have to turn male characters into women. Let's just create more female characters and make the story fit those female characters." [...]

Besides the highlighting that I added, I made some words big either for obvious reasons, or just to point out that we still have Communism.

If you have a better source for a black female Bond, please linky linky.
708  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [BET] Trump or not Trump 2020: America needs colonial stewardship on: November 09, 2020, 03:33:31 AM
Question:
Where do you think it went wrong nulli?
Answer:
... was it just doomed from the start?

On that note, I think ending colonialism may have been a great mistake.. I can think of many 3rd world countries that would be better off under foreign western rule because they obviously just don't have the intelligence to get their shit together on their own in years since..
National sovereignty for wildlings? I mean really, you must be redpilled on IQ no?

So, eddie, which colonial power should take paternalistic stewardship of the mentally retarded, atavistically primitive American third-world shithole that can’t even run an election without Democrat vote-stuffing shenanigans?

America is a dumb kid country that never grew up, after it ran away from Daddy England.  But the whilom Imperial Brits bolloxed the governance of their colonies; I think that America would be better off under the rule of a Continental European power.  (If but only at least one of them would restore a sane government; the fuckwit E.U. may as well be American.)

If people with a IQ under 100 weren't allowed to vote there wouldn't be any Dem. American votes. That would be no fun.
FYFY.

To be clear, eddie, I partly agree with you about colonialism—and I do know all about IQ.

I mean really, you must be redpilled on IQ no?

Protip:  The existence of liberal pseudointellectuals, some of whom score highly on psychometric tests of general intelligence, proves empirically that IQ is necessary but insufficient.  The perplexing problem of high-IQ idiots is one that I have spent years examining; but I will avoid hereby launching into a five thousand word scholarly essay on the topic...

Moreover, I don’t do drugs.  Thus, I don’t take any pills randomly offered to me by some weirdo black dude who wears sunglasses at night.

Whereas that “redpilled” metaphor is used by a spectrum of groups for which it ranges from incongruous, to... peinlich!

Sie sind entartet!

... a Wachowski brothers “sisters” story starring a Eurasian mutt, a black, and an ostensible female who would be completely androgynous if her breasts and buttocks were not so ample, with a plot about the salvation of Zion.

...Lilly Wachowski, who came out as trans along with her sister Lana after the films came out...

The Matrix first hit screens in 1999, when Lilly says "the corporate world wasn't ready" for an allegory - a story that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning - about transgender people.

[...]

Once upon a time, I descended into the land of #redpilled #goyimknow to explain to them how foolish they look, using an image of a black man offering drugs as their allegory for discovering Adolf Hitler.  Just call me helpful.

Old-fashioned view—antimodern:  The glorification of disability is a rank insult to everyone who from pride has ever put on a strong face, and struggled much as practicable to conceal or work around a misfortune of violence, accident, or illness.

There have been historical figures who achieved greatness despite disability, because they refused to be “sick” and forced themselves to be as normal as they could be.

That takes courage—an outdated, obsolete concept.

Lest anyone mistake that as merely my anticopyright opinion, here is the matching opinion of a well-known pro-copyright website, which properly distingushes between plagiarism and copyright issues:

Contrary to popular belief, the word plagiarism is not synonymous with copyright infringement. Not every incident of plagiarism is copyright infringement, especially when public domain works are involved. On the flip side, not every incident of copyright infringement is plagiarism, such as the alleged infringements of file sharers.

On a related note, not all reuse of copyrighted material is copyright infringement or plagiarism. Some uses are perfectly legal and ethical, thus getting them dubbed “fair use”.

Not sure about GAN... I did watch almost half of the video without conceding whether I understood any of what I saw/heard.

A simple, very non-rigorous explanation:

You know the general class of nifty AI technologies that make image search, facial recognition, the visual cortex for self-driving cars, etc., etc.?

Well, it turns out that if you put two different AI bots in a feedback loop, you can make one bot train the other to produce the class of images that the first bot has already been trained to recognize.

So:  Train one bot to recognize cat photos.  Make the other bot start producing more or less randomly generated images; and force it to learn to fool the cat photo recognizer into believing that a nonexistent cat is a real cat.

When you run this little bot versus bot game on a big pile of expensive GPUs for a week or two, the cat-recognizer bot teaches the nonexistent-cat bot to produce fake cat photos that can fool humans.  😸

It is such a powerful technology, it can even produce KYC dox photos of nullius!  Shocked

“What I cannot create, I do not understand.” — Richard P. Feynman

Good one.  Note to Jay:  That is the equation that basically sets the rule of the aforesaid “bot versus bot” game.  Here are some images that I posted on Lauda’s goodbye thread; curious cats humans should right-click and view the image on the left to view it full size, or even click through to the paper hereby linked on Arxiv:

Kitty loved science!

* nullius loves the “generative model” that “produces cat-shaped objects more often”. 😼

Science and maths and technical intrigues are posted to the Wall Observer in memory of Kitty.

Nulli...on a more personal note I must admit some fascination with some of your posts...but by the gods man..bloviate much?

I am curious* about which subjects fascinate you.  Though I will understand if you don’t want to be too specific.  Perhaps I may be too toxic.  (* Sufficiently curious that I will spare you the “taken under advisement” nullbot macro in re my alleged “bloviating”. ;-)

I actually have that line (replete with the emoji 🗑️ which you snipped) set as a text editor macro.  Minor variations thereof are in many of my forum posts—also, variations of the wolf photo.

Speaking of bots, I am now just waiting for the liberal TDS conspiracy theorists to announce that I am a “Russian bot”.  Roll Eyes

Perhaps you did not understand:  Among other things, in the quoted portion, he made a rude remark about Lauda.

WhiteManWhite has left the forum.
That's a plot twist Shocked

I need to catch up on the Russian forum thread.  I abandoned it after a moderator deleted two of my posts.  Eh, it seems to be less of a priority now...  Anyway, Jay, do you suppose that you could compete with me for being a meanie? ;-) Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Secretly, I am contemplating whether I should learn a lesson from Lauda about being constructive.  But that is something that I would take up elsewhere; it does not seem relevant in WO, whereby the current primary topics of discussion are Nully with his blowtorch, adversarial network generation of nonexistent cats, and also Bitcoin.

Jay, thanks for the discussion re Lauda.  I read and appreciate your long, detailed replies; if I don’t respond point by point, it is only because I would prefer to talk about myself now!  —Or about Kitty AI.  —Or about Communist subversion of the arts.  —Or—as long as I am here, maybe even sometimes about Bitcoin.
717  Economy / Speculation / Re: [WO] Real property ownership requirements for voting on: November 08, 2020, 05:13:45 AM
People whose wealth is invested in illiquid, immovable property within a jurisdiction tend to think more long-term; and most especially, people who own their own homes (in contradistinction to investment properties) have the most to lose from bad government.

Proof of stake.

Why did I not think of that metaphor whilst wearing my political philosophy hat.  Switching to my cryptocurrency discussion hat...

I still have just enough trust in our American system to believe that any illegitimate votes will be nullified, one way or another.

Does it count (so to speak) if I incite the robots to Kill All Humans?  That will nullify votes—all votes, “one way or another”!
Fear nothing.

It's probably about 50/50, which is too close for my comfort.

O.k... I did a quickie looking it up, and you seem to be correct about the split, [...]

Politics is never over, right?

I called it 50/50 in P&S, and bet accordingly.

The more interesting part is:  The election being close keeps it exciting!  Do you remember the time, not so long ago, when the mainstream media were whining about “voter apathy” and low turnout rates?  (Why, just why do you suppose that that worries them!?)

If they make you feel like your vote counts—as if elections are so close that your vote could be decisive—then it keeps you engaged with the system!

Like betting on cockfights or football games:  The whole concept of this thread adequately sums the value of democracy.  It is entertainment.  It keeps the proles distracted, and dissipates their energies in a way that is harmless to the system.

~ 70 million voted for Trump, that's 70 million people with guns who don't believe the Intl Commie elite Deep State psyop, psycho-babble, propaganda bullshit

Trump is a globalist, maybe 10% less globalist than GOP neocons.  Biden is an Internationalist.  The difference is... indistinct.

Anyway, marcus, please don’t tell me that you are in hock to the Kushners?  ;-)

The big benefit of Trump being the POTUS has been the salty, delicious taste of liberal tears!  To be honest, it is the primary reason why I bet 0.01 BTC that Trump would win (and I did a charity bet with theymos, so that no liberal would benefit from me in any way if Trump were to lose).  May the liberal tears continue to flow.

(I know, that was harsh, but I've had a few...)

If you venture such an opinion on personal matters about which you know nothing, then you are a mentally retarded child who lacks both the reading comprehension to understand what I have said on the topic, and the experiential maturity to realize that there is much I have not said because it is none of your business.  Indeed, you lack even the basic life skills to understand that you don’t know me.

Your advice is accordingly filed under “taken under advisement”. 🗑️

Previously in the Wall Observer:
...kitty, kitty... that fury beast.
Lauda is a Maximal Maximalist. [...]

I love Lauda (don’t take that the wrong way: our relation is amicably professional).  So do many others.  And is she fearsome?  Frankly, I love the cat because she’s not a pussy (so to speak).

In regards to Lauda, of course her decision to exit the forum could be a bit traumatic, especially for any members who considered her services to have been a benefit to the forum......

I think that was many people’s reaction.  She did much for the community, over the course of seven years.  —Much for the community, as others do on various levels and in different ways.  Not comparing anyone to anyone else, Jay, you know that many people (including myself) would be some level of unhappy if you were to disappear.  #nohomo  WO folks would be drinking beers, and reminiscing on your wordy-man walls-o’-text; those who have benefitted materially from your market analysis, discussion, and debate may take it harder, if they have any sense of gratitude.

Whereas Lauda’s departure hit me more personally, because...

You should be protecting yourself though because none of us (or other random peeps on the internet) give any shits about you as much as you should be protecting yourself, psychologically and financially.

Lauda did.  And that is all that I will say about that cat.

In view of my previous post, it is ironic that I raise your thereby quote from this context:
and yet, some of the replies that I am getting here, especially what explorer said, are a little bit too close to “you don’t believe hard enough”.

Anyway, I don’t give any shits about Internet forums generally.  Besides making forum art just to amuse myself, I spent so much time here for a reason.  Now that the reason is gone, it is more or less just a matter of habit, plus some loose ends, etc.  I do personally respect and value some other individuals here; but that is not a reason to dwell so much on a public forum.
At least 51% of the reason why I returned to the forum on 2020-01-01 was to reconnect with Lauda.

I don't know.. if you are sensitive in protecting Lauda.. that seems to be on you, more than anything... some people might purposefully want to rattle you in that direction, so in that regard, you might actually put yourself in such a position if you get too attached to that kind of thing... or showing that you are attached in that kind of way...

That does not get to me personally.  Seriously, Jay...

sometimes there are meanies on the interwebs.. including yours truly.

...have you seen anyone meaner than I am? ;-)

Wherefore those who may “want to rattle” me are only asking for me to blowtorch their faces.  Given my naturally aggressive personality, it is not a problem for me.

Every time I scroll past this, I think it's a dildo:

An_old_and_rusted_screw.jpg’s mind got a rusty screw loose, so got screwed financially with a rusty pipe by dumping at the bottom of a crash.  Thus, your remark seems appropriate.  Albeit cruel!

[—in re personal viciousness and treachery—]

Now, that was “pulling a mindrust!”

I suppose that it is a matter of character.

JJG was more right than he knew!
I almost want to give him some Bitcoin, a trivial amount, just to stop him from being a nocoiner.

Gotta be careful in helping out nocoiners too much because frequently they got to being nocoiners for a reason.

Mindrust is likely NOT in a very solid state of mind, currently.

Was he ever?

There is hereby a greater point than some irrelevant individual forum user.  Jay, you recall how I defended mindrust—how I urged others not to humiliate him personally over a poor financial decision.  The term “pulling a mindrust” seemed to me untoward.

Well, as I said, I learned a lesson here.  What hidden flaws of character may be the underlying cause, if a man suddenly flips on something that he had thereto praised so highly—turns against it, not by his words, but by actions that say, “I don’t think that this is a good idea!”

Emotional pressure from a bear market is irrelevant.  If somebody’s behaviour is dangerously unstable under emotional pressure, then it is dangerously unstable, period.  Life is pressure.  Some proverbs about fair-weather friends come to mind.

Much though I dislike the alleged “cult mentality” of Bitcoiners who criticize others for not believing hard enough, if somebody does believe in Bitcoin, and preaches it, and practises it—and then suddenly dumps all of his bitcoins in the heat of the moment!—not even hedges more or less rationally, but dumps Bitcoin altogether—then in retrospect, I see that it was naïve of me not to take that as an indication of character.

I don’t expect much from random peeps on the interwebs.  I do not expect to be consoled or patted on the head by arbitrary people!  I do expect that anyone with even the slightest shred of decency will not take the initiative to seek out and attack me personally on the grounds that I’ve been upset over the disappearance of my friend.  WTF?  I suppose that is what WO people meant by “pulling a mindrust”.

Reply to Jay to be continued on other subjects—I hope.  Trying not to fall behind the thread, at this particular moment.
