722  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: September 12, 2013, 04:51:52 AM
let me put it another way - the very LIKELY scenario -
anyone who paid for asics using BTC except for batch 1 avalons will likely never ROI in btc
this goes for pretty much anything out now and coming about.
the miner protection programs are interesting though - at least they kind of guarantee ROI to get your btc back

sorry, but, what's the consensus

OK,  after much monitoring and troubleshooting I am thinking that my hashrate drop at Slushs's pool occurs about every 6 hours or so.
The only way to bring it back up is stopping the miner and restarting it.

Any way I can make it auto restart every 2 hours?

just switch to btcguild - heh
725  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: September 12, 2013, 02:58:07 AM
Actually, AsicMiner has shown there really is almost no risk.

The forum is full of fools who will pay over 2000% for AM hardware and not even realise they will make a BTC loss mining with it.
i.e. pay AM up front the entire amount of BTC (or in most cases more) then AM themselves could get mining with the hardware they sell.
Seriously, it's a unbelievable situation AM is in.

Dave's cards are USB and once they are easy to use (nudge, nudge) all the fools buying AsciMiner hardware would switch to these boards since they are a higher hash rate, lower power per GH, and not priced to lose BTC for the buyer ... yet.
The only risk that could be seen in the near future would be other people making BitFury boards.

good points, there's a lot of competition though and AM will be on gen 2 by end of the year likely
726  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-09-10 Techcrunch Disrupt 2013 - The Bitcoin Revolution Panel (Video) on: September 11, 2013, 08:50:39 PM
Thanks, moderator is an airhead but panelists are great.  Very useful exposure to an important audience in a high-visibility event ($3000 registration cost!).

moderator was decent. she made some slip ups but she at least had some understanding of subject matter and exposure to it.
+1 for being somewhat informed and + 1 for giving dudes boners

728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How long do zero fee transactions take on: September 11, 2013, 08:06:57 AM
depends on the size.
you must've sent a relatively large transaction.
usually it'll go through quickly for most sizes

I guess this is the world we live in.  My team has been working 14 hour days trying to test and ship hardware to customers while also growing the mining operations.  I have been totally transparent in what is going on here as well as my plans and approach to dealing with challenges on multiple levels, while keeping it fair to the customers & investors.

In all other retail businesses, if a backordered situation exists, you will just wait.  I have taken steps to set aside hardware that will run on the behalf of customers in order to reduce their pain of waiting.  Of course I'm not running PPS at 7%, that's ridiculous.  Its PPLNS @ 3%.  If you have a problem with the pool fee, then let us know what your pool is and we'll make sure you get the 1 - 2% more coin.  If you want your share of NMC mined - whatever, send me an address.

dude, after yifu and bfl, dave is kind of a hero. is he perfect, no. but by all that is holy he is not incompetent/liar as bfl and a dbag as yifu

738  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will the price go to $1000/BTC? on: September 08, 2013, 08:43:42 PM
by December-
reason: people won't be selling coins from their (mostly negative ROI) to fiat below what it cost them in bitcoins or fiat.
this means that people will be more STUBBORN and won't wish to sell. price -> skyrocket to $1000 sometime next year
739  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ASIC Testing on Scrypt? on: September 07, 2013, 01:32:23 AM
