761  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptopia exchange hacked on: February 25, 2019, 08:37:10 AM
I think they took the money and ran with it. Only logical explanation for the way they are acting and handling the situation. The less said the less they will have to explain later on.

Someone is claiming that they answered in Discord about the reason they're not opening yet.
Since they haven't posted anything in the official Twitter or Facebook, we can't know for sure if this is official or just a PR statement from an employee.
In any case, what the following states makes absolute sense, so don't rush to freak out that they stole the money. I strongly believe Cryptopia is incompetent, but not evil.

762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Grin | PoW Mining | Electronic transactions for all. Community driven. on: February 25, 2019, 08:32:30 AM
I was comparing GRIN and BEAM and I noticed that BEAM has a 20% fee which goes to the developers.
GRIN is community driven, so that probably means there's no equivalent fee? Just, how are the community devs being rewarded? They aren't?
763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: **Crypto trading signals** (share what you're targeting) on: February 25, 2019, 07:52:35 AM
Ok, let me try as well!

-Coin: ARK
-Price: 0.00014590 BTC
-Target (short term): 0.00002000+ BTC
-Target (long term): 0.00005000+ BTC
-Exchange: Binance/Bittrex/UpBit/Bit-Z

High-risk trade.

Explanation,
I happen to be an old investor in ARK because of their technology and amazing professionalism, I'm watching them over a year now.
Lately it seems that ARK came in the attention of the public, following a healthy bullrun with spikes and then small corrections (aka flag formations).
Both technically and fundamentally, I believe it'll continue going up.

seems grin asic came out..

pool.btc.com mining power jumped from 2k gps to 50k gps in one night...

it's like 10000 2080Ti GPUs... it's hard to be GPUs..

You spooked me out man! I went through so much trouble to setup a Linux installation, destroyed and rebuilt one boot sector, downloaded 3 Linux versions, burned different ISOs multiple times, and finally figured out I had to disable the GPU drivers from the kernels! If anyone else ever has problems with crashes before installing Linux, google the "nomodeset" and learn how to instruct it into the start command, this was the solution.

In any case, Grin31 is still GPU minnable, the hashrate of a single pool just jumped higher but the network's overall hash is stable.
765  Economy / Economics / Re: JP Morgan’s new digital ‘coin’ is not a cryptocurrency, or even a stablecoin on: February 24, 2019, 04:43:18 PM
This is the first of its kind of a bank coin but just wait until other multinational investment bank and financial services companies do the same thing.
These types of institutions are playing with trillions of dollars so if their coin fails in value, they still have much fiat to fall back on.

they shouldn't ever fall in value though. they shouldn't have any speculative value in the first place. the whole system is permissioned and everything is centrally administered and reversible. the whole thing sounds like a gimmick tbh. it's not even an interbank system with federated consensus. it's just a private "blockchain", a glorified database run by chase. why would other banks prefer this to the legacy system?
Global banks could have some advantage of this system, today they use the old and slow legacy system and the transactions are expensive and needs a lot of manual work on the sender and also on the receiver side. In the EU, they use SEPA which is a kind of quicker and automated system (less manual work needed, so quicker and cheaper), a blockchain based automated system would need even less manual work so it would be more quick and even more cheap).
So if there's a bank who wants to transfer internationally between it's subsidiaries, it can be a solution for intra bank transfers.

Edit: Typos

But why would a bank trust the solution and software of another bank, which may even be on a different continent?
What would happen to whoever owns this JPcoin if JP closes or go bankrupt one day?

Unlike this closed and centralised system, it'd make more sense for a financial institution to go for XRP. Unlike what many uninformed people say, XRP is decentralised and if one day Ripple Labs shutdown, no one will lose their money.
They might stop receiving updates on the xRapid software, but someone will take Ripple Lab's place and continue developing the system.
Also if many would try to take Ripple's place, the nodes will decide if the blockchain will respect the decision of the new development team, just like it happens with miners in PoW.

So, why would anyone prefer JPcoin over XRP?

Wow I just realized that your 2nd bounty campaign (with the XRP payment) has ended, not this one! I though this was your last week.

But.... wouldn't it be the same if you'd give us the chance to get paid in XRP through this campaign?
767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP][OPEN] MoonTrade Signature Campaign & Trading Competition! on: February 24, 2019, 08:43:53 AM
Hello, thank for running an XRP campaign, this being my main investment, I'd like to apply since my current signature campaign ended earlier.

Cancel that, I misunderstood that the campaign I'm part of right now was over.

I returned home today and I noticed that from the usual 14 hashrate I had, it was running at 1.5 per card.
I checked the pool and the speed had fallen about 2 hours after I had start the miner.

I'm using the previous version of 15.0 and 1080ti on latest Windows 10 with latest drivers.
Have this happened to anyone else?
769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ARK - DPoS with Dynamic Fees 🔹 NO longer a fork of Lisk 🔹 New CORE v2🔹 on: February 21, 2019, 11:37:41 AM
The people who tell, the coins are in place, and the transactions are all gone, when opening the wallet, error 404 comes out and I can’t send the coins to another address. What to do to fix it?

1) Check your internet
2) Check your wallet's version, I guess if you're in v1 you could get an error 404 by now. The latest windows wallet is 2.2.1.

Well, I wouldn't go that far to say that Ark has lifted crypto world by itself. It definitely had a (probably minor) an influence, though.
Ark will definitely be rising in 2019. Not just that their development is fast (and expecting even bigger things now in 2019), also other "competition" will be falling as their true non-intentions time will reveal.

ARK is my last hope for a gaming without stupid-high fees.
I want to breed my Axies and a simple tx costs 0.35$ because of the Ethereum's gas fee when it was 0.05$ !

Question about the rule "Make a minimum of 5 posts in the Marketplace Sections each week".

Say that I'm posting in this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1669443.new#new
It's forum path is "Bitcoin Forum > Economy > Marketplace > Service Announcements"

But in my last posts page it shows only as "Economy / Service Announcements".

Will those posts of mine be counted?
I guess all sections that are listed under marketplace is valid, Service Announcements is part of it, so it's counted IMO.

It should count, but I don't know how does the manager count the posts. There might be an automated system which I don't know of, because if they're counting the posts manually through the post history, then this info is not visible.

Any idea how was the private key stolen? No cold wallet at all?

The rumours are that this person is the only one having access to Cryptopia's, ultra-secured cold wallets! The photo was taken 2 days before the hack took place.

774  Economy / Marketplace / Re: $1000 to spare each month, how would you invest it? on: February 20, 2019, 12:58:19 PM
I see everyone is suggesting something different! Usually there's no "right or wrong" answer, everyone has a different strategy and just because one strategy evolves more risk than another, it doesn't mean it's wrong.

HOWEVER what I find WRONG is some people's comments is the advise to invest in Ethereum. Since the OP is interested for the long term, the investment should be in a store-of-value or PoS coin. Ethereum is an utility with no limitation in the maximum amount of coins. I'm not saying Ethereum won't go up, but because of it's structure it'll have be gravitated downwards which will be obvious only in the long term.

Personally I'm always going for value (cheap and unnoticed investments), I'm staying away from hyped projects (a slight fear can cause huge falls) and I diversify between coins, shares and metals.

Projects I consider good value,
Bitcoin, XRP, ARK

US Stocks I consider good value,
Nvidia, Ford, Micron, Twitter

Metals,
I prefer silver
775  Economy / Securities / Re: MASTERNODE INVEST ICO: get a passive revenue from cryptocurrency masternode on: February 20, 2019, 12:39:00 PM
I'm 66% in ARK. It's dPoS like LISK and NEO but not as hyped and expensive as those.
The low price in combination with the team's dedication and professionalism and the project's offerings makes it a safer investment than the other mentioned.

So thanks but no, I'll stay away from an investment that promises 22% out of thin air.

So much green, This is great news for ETH.

Nope, it's bad. The gas is sky high the last days and I can't play my DAPP game without paying so much in gas... it's not even funny.
So basically Ethereum is not ready for mass adoption yet... will it ever be though?

I mean...we're definitely at capacity...but I dunno about sky high prices. I didn't see gas go above 9 gwei today.
https://ethgasstation.info/index.php

Then, would that be considered sky high maybe? Cheesy

Okay I'm just using it as a joke, I know that this is not a normal, necessary fee. Someone input it manually.
777  Economy / Economics / Re: JP Morgan’s new digital ‘coin’ is not a cryptocurrency, or even a stablecoin on: February 20, 2019, 10:24:42 AM

This is a strategy to promote JPM, whatever it is we are still faced by an intelligent person in taking investors' hearts if they succeed.
Certainly, it will be a special moment for JPM for the news delivered to the public.

If that was all, then it didn't have a huge success so far. Their shares are up 3.19% the last 5 days while S&P500 is up 2.11%. Nothing impressive.
For comparison, when Kodak announced Kodakcoin their shares reached up to 87% in two weeks!!

Elon Musk thinks paper money is going away and crypto will take its place.

Everyone has hoped for financial reform.

What we got was even better.

Money outside the system.

In digital form.

Bitcoin.

I was about to post that too but a search sow me you had already done that a few pages back!
Well... seems like the Bitcoin's price will be pumped for a few days, I read many positive articles which ... being posted either naturally or forcefully to create a FOMO.

I'm not expecting any crazy bullruns though, not until there are "only" ominous news and most quick-fortune seekers sell their bags and Bitcoin is again owned by few.
779  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 19, 2019, 09:31:27 PM
Take that Vitalik!

Google knows that there's only one coin that's here to rule - "BTCitcoin"!

That's some next level bitcoinism! Actually, there's a word for that I think, but I can't recall it... Bitcoin maximalism? Maxism?
Whatever, the point is, accepting only Bitcoin and disregarding everything else is stupid.
I presume that most people who do that were also calling Bitcoin shit before they see the price skyrocket; because such people wouldn't give anything a chance in their mind until proven wrong.
