761  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [SERIOUS] How would you guys feel about a provably fair seed api? on: May 25, 2016, 07:15:16 PM
Im in the process of developing a provably fair seed api.
Why would someone use your API while they can get absolutely random seeds from bitcoin blockchain itself? In fact, I recently saw a game, www.bitcoinbetting.website, is exactly doing that.
762  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin Betting Website - Multiplayer Onchain Gambling - No Signup Required on: May 25, 2016, 02:00:56 PM
The thing is, no one will start playing until they see others playing, and they need to see a bunch of people playing for it to be close to an EV of 0. Otherwise, if only 2 people play, it is extremely -EV for the player. 1/16 chance to win double your amount if only one person playing is very very bad. You should consider making it player vs house, so more people would bet and not be worried that the game is too unfair to them.

Every gambling site is -ev to begin with and this is nothing new in the gambling industry.

@OP : on chain betting is yesterday and you should just make a version of the off chain betting in another domain. On chain betting is not suitable for dust betting so it discourage people who likes to bet on dust amount to play at your site. Besides that, sooner or later transaction fees will increase depending on the numbers of transaction in the future so it is not a good prospect in the future
Yes, every bitcoin gambling site is -EV. I never said that it wasn't, just that it was very -EV for the player if only a few people played with the same amount. If player A bets 1 bitcoin, and player B bets 1 bitcoin, both would have a 1/16 chance to win. If they win, they get a profit of 0.99 BTC. A 1.99 multiplier, for a 1/16 chance. If you go to a dice site, you can get a 1/2 chance to win. Both are -EV, but the dice site is less. This site could be +EV for some players though, as if they are the only person betting on an outcome, they could bet a tiny amount and win a lot.
You seems to be a little mistaken here. It seems one user can bet on all the options at a time, i.e. in a single transaction. The number of options, user chooses, depends on the user. That way, this game is in fact offering more flexibility than a dice game.
763  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin Betting Website - Multiplayer Onchain Gambling on Block Hash Randomness on: May 24, 2016, 07:38:51 PM
Wow! The idea seems to be absolutely new. Really innovative. But, does anyone know if the last digit of a block hash is really random?
764  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Does SegWit require any change in using send/receive API? on: May 12, 2016, 05:50:57 PM
I am using blockcypher send/receive API in certain services and accept Tx with 1+ confirmations. Post SegWit, do I need any change to be made at my end?
No, only if that API did something weird.

Is the API doing "something weird" predictable?
The prediction is it wouldn't.

I mean, if you're using a third party API then at any point they could make you add an argument "moon moon fish moon"... but there is no reason for them to do that; likewise for segwit.
Reading a little about SegWit, what I understood that SegWit addresses will be different from usual addresses. So, how a fund sent to a normal address from a SegWit address will be determined by the API?

p.s. I'm sorry if my Q does not make sense. But, I'm getting a little confused here.
765  Local / India / Re: carding is abuse to bitcoin network on: May 01, 2016, 09:47:46 AM
Carding is like abusing for bitcoin.
Bitcoin is a medium of exchange and use/abuse of any medium of exchange depends on its user.

Nowadays, carders purchase hacked credit cards and exchange that money with local bitcoin or trader to get bitcoin. Then, they convert this btc into their bank money.
If a LocalBitcoins trader accepts credit card payment against his/her bitcoin, then the problem is with him/her. Bitcoin should never be sold against any reversible/disposable payment method like credit card, paypal or gift card. If any trader is doing this, he/she is doing it at his/her own risk. NEFT/IMPS are safe against bitcoin transaction.

Don't you think it's wrong use of bitcoin.
Absolutely NOT! Why blame bitcoin for a flawed system like credit card? It is a shame that a fragile system like credit card is still in place and bitcoin has nothing to do with it.

PAN card, Aadhar card, Bank passbook verification must be there like as in zebpay, coinsecure, btcxindia, etc
Their use cases are different altogether than that of LocalBitcoins. For those, who want money within 15 minutes in their bank account, LocalBitcoins is and will always remain more preferable than others. On the contrary, if you are not in hurry to get money in your bank account soon, but interested in real time trading, then you have no other way than going to CoinSecure/BTCXIndia. ZebPay offers a plethora of services through mobile app, which is unavailable at LocalBitcoins.

Quote
18th April 2016, Delhi, IN - Coinsecure, the leading Indian Bitcoin trading platform, has announced a raise of $1.2 million as part of its ongoing 'Series A’ investment round. The company opened the fund-raising round earlier in January this year and expects to close the round soon.

And the only company in India to be funded over $1mn USD.

Congrats Benson. Is it an FDI?
767  Local / India / Re: We Are Hiring Hindi Translators! Btcnpay.com on: April 05, 2016, 09:22:43 AM
What is this website all about. How will this be working? Say if I want to buy from Snapdeal from BTC , so what is the process?

Everything is explained on https://www.btcnpay.com/how-it-works

Interesting concept. Does it work with Flipkart & Snapdeal?

769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin 'bomb' alert in airport on: March 10, 2016, 09:31:43 AM
An email threatening to blow up an airport unless Bitcoin worth around Rs 16 lakh was deposited within 24 hours in an account sparked a security scurry at the Calcutta airport on Sunday.

Bitcoin is the most popular digital currency in the world. It is unregulated by government authorities and is used across the world.

The email, which did not specify which airport would be blown up, was sent to the inbox of the Calcutta airport's duty manager early on Sunday.

Police officers investigating the threat said it was apparently a prank but failed to track down the sender till late on Sunday.

The mail was sent from the id 911@sigaint.org. Sigaint is an email service that can be operated with the help of specialised software and settings, and is used to mask a user's identity and location.

When officers of the Bidhannagar commissionerate's cyber crime division tried to reply to the sender's ID, the mail bounced back.

"The mail, which was sent to the duty manager's official ID and was read around 6am, asked for more than 60 Bitcoins to be deposited in an account within 24 hours, failing which an airport would be blown up," an officer said.

The exchange value on Sunday evening of 60 Bitcoins was a little more than Rs 16 lakh.

Bitcoin was created in 2009. Encryption techniques are used to regulate the generation of units of Bitcoins and verify their transfer.

Bitcoin, not tied to any country, does not have any central authority or middlemen. From a user's perspective, it is nothing more than a mobile app or computer programme that provides a personal Bitcoin wallet and allows a user to send and receive Bitcoins.

Bitcoins are often used in illegal transactions like arms deals among terrorists.

770  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Roundtable Retreat - 70 top Techies & CEOs - What should be covered? on: February 27, 2016, 12:42:36 PM
What do you think should be covered?

A well defined process to reach Consensus in Bitcoin world.

What document(s) would be a good goal?

Bitcoin Constitution. Discussion: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1373985.0
This is definitely an awesome proposal. But, I doubt they'll discuss it at round-table, unless it is discussed thoroughly among dev community.
771  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Constitution - Looking for feedback on: February 24, 2016, 11:12:38 AM
The start using the word correctly.
I am.

Follow up question. Do you understand what constitution means?
I do. Tell me what does Consensus mean?

The conventional definition of a constitution is as a regulating mechanism of an entity through the use of violence or exclusionary methods (judicial system, LEA, exclusion.of membership, depriving access, etc), regardless of whether it is in a decentralized or centralized society. You talk about voluntary, shared success, etc like this is a 'constitution' for a My Little Pony clubhouse.
You failed to understand bitcoin. Not unusual for people brought up and brainwashed in a centralized hierarchical society.
Oh, I see. Since you can no longer articulate an argument, you immediately hide behind "you are brainwashed so you don't understand", hoping desperately that no one will see that you actually have no clue to what is being discussed here. But it's not unusual to see people to talk about things they don't even understand, arrogantly at that. And then hiding behind words like shared success, voluntary and now, consensus. Oh, the irony.

The fact, is, if you understood the concept of constitution, then we wouldn't be having this discussion. Period.

As expected, you dodged the question, what does Consensus mean? Once you try to answer that logically, u'll start feeling where the concept of a Constitution coming from.

Do you understand what arbitrary means?
I do.

If nothing can be enforced, in what universe is a "proposed constitution" practical?
In bitcoin universe. The conventional definition of enforcement as seen by centralized society does not apply here. People run nodes, not because they are enforced. They run it, because they want to voluntarily support the bitcoin network and enjoys a 'shared success'.
774  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Constitution - Looking for feedback on: February 23, 2016, 10:11:51 PM
One of the best proposal I have seen in recent times to end the consensus controversy. Have you tried to post it in the bitcoin-dev mailing list?
bitcoin-dev mailing list owner asked me to post it in bitcoin-discuss mailing list first. So, it is there - http://lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipermail/bitcoin-discuss/2016-February/000080.html.

So how exactly is this constitution suppose to be enforced?
Why would anyone obey it?
Neither it needs to be enforced, nor anyone needs to obey it. It'll do good as an unofficially defined process for consensus resolution. And once, a hard fork proposal passes through the process stated in this constitution, it'll have the majority of hash power with majority of coins backing it. The majority of hash power with the backing of the majority coins is what makes the longest chain ticking in bitcoin ecosystem. Everyone else 'obeys' it.
So what is the incentive for anyone to even follow or obey a constitution that, in your words, no one needs to obey and is unenforceable?
Do u understand that u just read the first sentence of a 3 line statement and made an arbitrary comment? He has already explained why the consensus does not require to be enforced. In fact, in bitcoin network, nothing can be enforced. People are part of it because it benefits them and this proposed constitution fits very well to this ideology.
775  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: In which language top gambling sites are coded ? on: February 16, 2016, 06:55:08 PM
In PHP.

Server: Apache/2.4.7 (Ubuntu)
X-Powered-By: PHP/5.5.9-1ubuntu4.14

(@fastdice: can't hurt to hide those headers btw, easy apache+php setting.)
So, can we assume, they are using MySQL at the backend?
776  Local / India / Re: Is Bitcoin illegal in India? on: February 16, 2016, 12:32:01 PM
Yep its still not clear if its legal or not.. but better to avoid showing bitcoin transactions.. when filing for income tax
No ITR form accepts Tx hash as an input. But, you should definitely report if you earn INR by selling BTC and pay proper tax on that. DO NOT "avoid showing bitcoin transactions.. when filing for income tax".
777  Local / India / Re: Is Bitcoin illegal in India? on: February 12, 2016, 11:23:54 AM
recent news articles suggest that Indian Police specially Delhi Police suggests that Bitcoin trading is illegal in India. What are your views guy?

Am not finding this in that article anymore. But I do remember reading it.
Anyone have any other link that still has that statement?

It is very much there.

778  Economy / Speculation / Re: market cap of bitcoin in 2050 on: February 10, 2016, 11:17:59 PM
50% of the online gambling industry + 50% of the global remittance industry. So, I think, it would be more than 1 trillion US dollar.
779  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Where to go after Coinbase closes your account? on: February 10, 2016, 11:14:01 PM
Do you mean bitcoin to FIAT payment processor? Then use BitPay.
780  Other / Meta / Re: What Roger Ver thinks about Theymos? on: February 08, 2016, 11:35:44 PM
Bitcoin Classic is nothing more than an altcoin without the support of the core devs and eventually the miners.
I suspect you will be proven wrong within a few short weeks.
Welcome back Roger. Are you aware of the fact that Mircea Popescu has said he'll flood the market with his stash if Classic wins ?
