801  Economy / Services / Re: Giving Bitcoins on: August 25, 2014, 10:11:16 PM
All you need to do is follow my Tumblr

ourcrazyreality.tumblr.com

You get a satoshi Will give more if you have followers max I am willing to pay is $5

Your title says BitcoinS.  That is a fraction of a Bitcoin, not BitcoinS

1 Satoshi is 0.00000001 which is worth 0.0005 cents.

Title is deceptive and to be honest it is not worth the effort any anybody's part.
802  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do we have too many alt coins? on: August 25, 2014, 09:50:08 PM
alt coins are probably the future they have time to evaluate the current system of Bitcoin and when/if it fails get to design their product around the vulnerabilities of Bitcoin I think you will appreciate the time given from the developers in the future.

The last time Bitcoin "failed" was the fork last year.  The only crypto that gained any traction from that was Litecoin - the number 2 crypto.  Of course that was last year and 800 new altcoins have been released since then, but only about 7 of the alts have any development or volume to put them anywhere close to litecoin, let alone Bitcoin.
803  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Dawkins: Immoral Not To Abort Down’s Syndrome Child on: August 25, 2014, 09:38:10 PM
For the record, I partially agree with the stance that -- considering the availability of modern technology and genetic testing, and that <13 week abortions are basically just a specially induced menstrual period (and utterly overblown by religious zealots) -- government assistance should be reduced or somehow limited as a punitive response to irresponsible parenting decisions.

Why should tax-payers have to cough up 10,000s for a lifetime of special-ed and rehab, when the parents could just try again instead? In fact, they probably shouldn't try again, because it's probably an age-related problem and genetic diseases hit a brick wall when the parents are past around 36 years. If they really want to have a kid, adopt.

Incorrect. Age related genetic disease probability increases gradually. Depending on your definition of a wall, a woman still only has a 1% chance of Down syndrome at 40. Maybe at 45 they should stop trying.

http://www.merckmanuals.com/home/womens_health_issues/detection_of_genetic_disorders/overview_of_genetic_disorders.html

This is not true.  The terms Downs has come to include a vast swath of trisomy 21 errors - so now the current definition includes more aberrations.  Because of this the base risk starts at around 1% for Downs at age 35.  When I did my residency we were taught the risk goes up roughly 2.5% per year after 35, so a 40 year old would have a 13.5% risk of some form of trisomy (some are worse than others).  With the latest in genome sequencing we're finding out that the rate doesn't seem to increase at 2.5%, at least not in all groups of women.  Some women clearly have a higher risk and others lower - I think the current estimate is closer to about 1.7%, so it would still be about 10% risk for trisomy on 21 at age 40.
804  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Stealing Electricity the next big thing? on: August 25, 2014, 08:49:12 PM
The best thing to do is start a program that gives away free S3's to women in offices as "Foot warmers".   You go and install them personally and hook them up at the offices.  Women love space heaters for their feet.  Free BTC for you.

Why not install a spy-hole camera on the miner and have a 2nd source of income from "live foot warmer webcam".  It's already got it's own internet connection!
805  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: What % of the total hashpower your pool has? on: August 25, 2014, 08:30:53 PM
Instead of looking for large pools that have over 30% of the network, why don't you guys use the tools that are currently available.  Both CGMiner (and I believe BFGMiner) can do load balancing and have your hash spread out over multiple pools.  You can mine on 4 pools you find reliable and each one is just 5% you effectively have a 20% pool.
806  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Unveiling the truth over the major Monero hoax on: August 25, 2014, 03:00:26 PM
The next Stephen Hawking ladies and gentleman.  I'm just going to leave this here:

Lol! Nice job with a Anniversary page! ( for those who didn't see: http://bytecoin.org/happy-birthday-bytecoin )

8bit music gave me nerdchills. Grin
First theme is just pure nostalgia.

Happy Birthday once again and to the Mars!

As was stated countless times... Bitcoin was mined by a few people too for a VERY long time. And there was no announcment on BitcoinTalk, hell, there was no BitcoinTalk.

So what? Bitcoin deserves **? If you don't know about something - it does not mean that nobody know.

807  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Unveiling the truth over the major Monero hoax on: August 25, 2014, 02:52:25 PM
If you happen to know any other XMR troll or sold account, share it with the community.

I found this one, does that count:

I thought about that... And I agree with @Cheesus

Why does this not surprise me? Let me think....hmm. Umm.

Oh yeah, that's right! Because you are both BCN shills?

Nice Tongue

BCN, the coin that has a 82% premine and has shills accusing XMR of being fishy?  Yeah, just like ArtForz and I were premining Bitcoin  Roll Eyes

I hope the new forum would post the first parts of the user's IPs - call shills/scammers out when they rear their ugly heads.
808  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cold-Storage on: August 25, 2014, 01:01:17 PM
Once your cold wallet gets access to an internet connection it is no longer cold.  You would need to make a new offline wallet address (the same way you made the original cold wallet) and send whatever fraction of the $10 that you didn't use to that new address.
809  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whats the best cloud mining site? on: August 25, 2014, 12:54:34 PM
Since this thread got bumped, I will refer all new people to read this before they throw money at not-in-hand mining:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=739510.0

Would you give a stranger on the street with a fancy sign $100 if he says he can pay back $200 over a 6 month period?
810  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Step-by-step guide to mining for newbies (January 2014) on: August 25, 2014, 12:50:20 PM
These days mining the altcryptos would be more profitable while compared to BTC.Also could be started at low investment and risk factor is low too.

The risk is higher for altcoins.  That's why there is more potential for profit.  People throwing around capitol generates profits and people taking it away equals losses.

Some altcoins lose 98% of their value in one day - Bitcoin has yet to do this.
811  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do we have too many alt coins? on: August 25, 2014, 12:47:38 PM
Yes. Please make it stop for crying out loud.

You cannot stop scammers from continually making new coins to fleece new money.  What you can stop is the free money going to those scammers by educating people new to crypto to consider why they are throwing their money away.  Take the fuel away from the fire...
812  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Im poor as it gets on: August 25, 2014, 12:40:42 PM
Only you can find the ways or will power to create more wealth for yourself. Do extra jobs and try earn a little extra fiat money, then buy small amounts when you can every so often. You'll soon build up some bitcoin wealth, but nothing in life comes easy. If you want something you'll have to work hard and earn it as it's not going to just come to you.

That's bullshit, early miners and investors got rich with minimum effort (luck). And don't sell me "they took big risks". Nope, some invested a couple dollars then got rich 3 years later. People investing now is the ones taking huge risks.
Bitcoin is a cool technology but it's going nowhere since people like me (the 99%) think we are just serving another 1% elite (the big stakeholders). So everyone i've talked to said they might as well get paid in gov/army backed money rather than put it in some experiment that doesn't really change anything in your life.

You know what's bullshit is your attitude.  You want self pity go sit on a street corner and cry one out.

People who bought $3k worth of GPUs when Bitcoin was $20 in August 2011 had to watch Bitcoin drop to $2.  Yeah, no risk there.

There's plenty of people who bought AAPL back when it was cheap and made just as much money - just over a longer scale.

You can't change the past...
813  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US Mission to Rescue Hostages in Syria Failed on: August 25, 2014, 12:06:54 PM
Why didn't Obama negotiate for the release of the journalists when he released FIVE terrorists in exchange for ONE deserter?  Five for five would have been a better deal.
I think Obama is sympathetic towards the terrorists. He shares their religion and has seriously stepped back on the war on terror. He has also really not actively engaged the US military with any enemy since he has taken office.

For Obama to share a religion wouldn't that mean that he has to look up to somebody/something?  I'm pretty sure the narcissist-in-chief thinks he is the highest power onthe face of the Earth. He's not called the messiah for no reason  Grin

The admin really dropped the bomb on this one... it will be interesting to see how Hillary spins this to her favor.
No he doens't have to look up to anyone but he does seem to want to promote their religion throughout the world as evidenced by the fact that he refused to attack terrorists that share that religion.

I don't know if I would equate apathy with commiseration.  Another war would simply interrupt his gold schedule, his Beyonce concerts and might even interrupt his viewing of next years NCAA Spring Madness - we can't have that happen.
814  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: August 25, 2014, 10:50:12 AM
If you notice there are spikes about half way through every round then it settles at a certain point. I wonder why this is? Anyways Bitmain will have to come down in price since the release date is 2+ diff increases away.

someone figured out that he will make more btc if he turns off his big mine for 2~3 days.

those 2~3 days offline are a good trade off, because the difficulty for the next two week should be somewhat lower.

That myth has been debunked by simple math.  Regardless of what pool payment method (PPS, PPLNS, etc) it is never feasible to hold back hashing power to earn more - unless you're 100% of the hashrate.
815  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Advantages of premine Marinecoin over other junk coins like LTC DRK DOGE etc on: August 24, 2014, 12:00:05 PM
Love the valuation.  Enjoy selling the coin to yourself.

I swear the money must be loose here for scamming trolls to be this brazen.
816  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What is the endgame for BTC? on: August 24, 2014, 09:38:10 AM
This is where I'm coming from...

Once I can no longer profit from mining, I'm done with BTC. I'm simply not an investment speculator. And I see no real advantages with buying BTC on an exchange and using it to make purchases. I'd rather just use a credit card and have consumer protection.

I'm not a libertarian and bank failures and politics scare me less than BTC potentially dropping to zero.

In my opinion, the extinction of home miners will ultimately cause the failure of BTC. Home miners actually use their BTC stash as it's intended, to make purchases. Although they just usually spend their saved BTC on new mining gear, lol. They also hoard their earnings while large-scale mining operations continually dump their BTC and exchange for fiat. Which will ultimately causes the price to crash once home miners are completely out of the picture.

This retard doesnt even know mining is also speculating. He thinks that because he didnt pay for those mined btc, its free!.

LOL

Why are you such a despicable, hateful twat?

Speculating and mining are entirely different. Just because there is also an element of risk in buying mining equipment doesn't make it the same as speculating on the price of bitcoin.

I think you're the retarded one.

Dumbfck, i'm not talking about the risk in buying mining rig. The whole mining expense and ROI are based on fiat. So you're hoping the price of btc doesnt fall.

Both mining difficulty and price of btc affect your mining business. But dumb fcks like you dont see it.
As the OP, I request you no longer respond to this thread.  Your attitude and language is far too abusive to be tolerable.  Well considered argument as in respectful debate/rebuttal/discussion is entirely welcome, but what you are providing is not.  Please move on!

Thanks -- Trevor!

Yeah that's really uncalled for.  I noticed he has been railing on xstr8guy in multiple threads.  Remember that people have sold Bitcointalk accounts so it's possible his account was sold or hijacked.
817  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Stealing Electricity the next big thing? on: August 24, 2014, 09:34:44 AM
Interesting post. But the reality is much different.

Who is going to go through all that trouble and risk for (currently) $4 per day to hide an S3 in a Starbucks ceiling. Equally as ridiculous is a traveling businessman lugging an S3 in his suitcase so he can plug it in a hotel room. The TSA would be pretty curious about that strange machine in your luggage.

Of course it might be worthwhile if you were talking about an SP30. But trying to hide that in a place where it wouldn't immediately be heard would be virtually impossible.

Now the extension cord to the neighbor's house, I quite like that idea. Lol.
More than a third of the people on Earth make less than $2 per day, only counting wage-earners. In reality, it's probably significantly over half who earn less than $2/day. $4/day, then, is MASSIVE for most people, and well worth the risk.

That is true.  But what is also true is that those people making less than $2 will never see the inside of a Starbucks.  They would have to save a year's salary to buy an S3.  So unless they're being transported by the Starship Enterprise into a Starbuck's false ceiling with an S3 and WiFi in hand it's not happening for them.

So back to us westerners who don't need transporter technology, $3/day after the next difficulty...
818  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Stealing Electricity the next big thing? on: August 24, 2014, 07:36:50 AM
Great now we're resorting to the potential of theft.  Again it will be more profitable to bully seniors in a grocery store parking lot than it would be to sneak a miner into Starbucks.  If that things ever gets tracked back to you by serial number or fingerprints I can't imagine the number of crimes you could be charged with.

Really, there's good money in bullying seniors? I'll have to research that. Is there a forum on the topic?   Wink

Well they're guaranteed to have some hard candy, some loose change, a handkerchief and a whole bunch of keys in their pockets so I like to hold them upside down and shake them.  Those Werther's Original are too damn good to pass up.

Seriously it comes down to risk vs benefit.  What kind of trouble are you risking by blatantly stealing from a company and violating it's open access internet policy vs what you have to gain ($4/day as noted above and falling every 11 days).

I was running the old 38.1 and tried to upgrade to 39.3 beta and that didn't go too well.  I tried copying over the walletdata dir directly and it didn't like that.  Tried importing it and it crashed.

So I tried to revert to 38.1.  I tried to run 38.1 and it crashes.  I deleted the config file under Local/jojatekok and it is still crashing under Win 7 x64.  I tried reextracting it and using the same walletdata dir that I was using before trying 39.3 and no go.  Here's the output:

820  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Will let your miners run at my place for a small mining %! on: August 24, 2014, 05:12:36 AM
This is a good way to make money rather than mining but you need to do a couple things:

1) Get insurance to cover any damage that would be incurred by something like fire, flood, storm damage, theft.
2) Make a legal contract stating the terms of the hosting and who pays for fees like return shipping and what happens should you become incapacitated.

If you're seriously going to host thousands of dollars of other people's equipment they will come after you with pitchforks if everything goes up in flames or gets stolen.
