* BobLawblaw checks mempool * BobLawblaw checks on Lightning node * BobLawblaw chuckles and gets back to gaming EDIT: No routing or transaction fees today. Oh well. Updated the 1ML page linking to this thread for the lulz.

the current bill makes the tax change retroactive to Sept 13th of this year... So if you are trying to beat the changes, it may already been to late...
Fuck. Oh well... Gotta do what I gotta do... Trying REAL HARD not to go on a political tirade here <sighs> EDIT: To celebrate the new ATH day

Fair Warning: Moving some coins in anticipation of profit taking - again - depending on how this current shot plays out. Targeting above $75k this time around - Not in a hurry TBH, but moving coins onto the exchange to be able to pull the trigger again at my leisure.
$80k would be the sweet spot depending on momentum. $100k would be <chef's kiss>
Not sure what the tax code is going to look like next year - with talk of increasing long term capital gains - so I'm trying to hedge a bit more fiat short term, just incase.

Bob, are you sure you are doing 2K a month? based on your routing fees, you need to be routing over $1M a month to be making $2k a month.... You may want to double check your accounts. BTW, is LOOP your most active channel?
You may very well be correct that I have miscounted something somewhere. LOOP is not my most active channel, but it's up there. I don't mean to post intentionally erroneous information - It is very possible I've fucked up my calculations somewhere. I'm looking at it from the perspective of adding up all the numbers, minus what it cost to open all the channels and rebalance things, to where I am today, and the node is a few hundred sats away from breaking even. On further consideration, I don't believe it's fair to state I've spent $2k on opening and rebalancing channels, either. Frustrating, to say the least, that I cannot properly figure this out, and quite very possibly miscalculated the theoretical profit. Again, kinda upset you bastards brought be back to running Lightning, but think I'm having a much better go of it this time around... in theory.

Apologies in advance, for what you are about to be subjected to.

Dumb question: So you mean i can rent a 40-bucks-per-month linux VM with 2TB hdd space at some random hoster, set up a full and lightning node over tor and i'm a node operator? I only require to make $40 in fees (minimum) to finance the vm.
You could try? Honestly not sure how to answer that. I'm doing a lot of active channel management on the node, on a daily basis.

Hoe much did you have to "invest" in your node to "earn" ~+$2k USD, and how long did it take?
Playing with 4BTC total liquidity. Built up to that over a month. Not inclined to add another coin to the node at this point. Think I've provided enough liquidity for now. Can't be sure how I ended up on the BOS List, either, TBH...

OK. In the "Holy-Shit Department", I did the accounting on my node, and for the sake of argument, am profitable ~+$2k USD as of right now.
This is a viable alternative to mining for me, but the headache is much worse with channel management/balancing, than managing a hardware farm.
Anyway, figured some of you might appreciate that anecdote.

didn't Bob made a new thread for WO regulars favorite virus-related topics? oh, yeah, he did, but i don't have a link handy.
Yeah, it's here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5362774.0Sorry, I took the bait in this thread. I can't help myself sometimes.

Before anti-vaxxers complain about the vaccine, those complications was a result of multiple myeloma, a blood cancer which wrecked his immune system and he was 84.
He didn't die FROM COVID19. He died WITH COVID19. Subtle, but important difference. 😬

We are talking about the lake property correct?
Jimbo is the lake owner. We have a couple fishing ponds and cattle watering holes on the ranch, but nothing approaching a description of a lake. When I say 10 years away, that's us moving out there and abandoning our suburban home altogether - Having all the subsistence infrastructure being well established and running by then. Probably going to spend 4 days at the ranch, and 3 days in the city for a little bit, and see how that works out. Realistically, it won't be until early spring until the barn/home goes up at end of Phase 1 construction. Phase 2 construction is for our main home, solar arrays, greenhouses, and my studio building. Phase 3 has not properly come into focus yet, but likely to involve buying up more land, building a citadel 1000ft high, and doing a geological project on a heretofore unforeseen scale, to build a proper lava moat surrounding the citadel. Hopefully end of 2025-ish EDIT: No problems with data, electrical, or water service where we are building. Robust, new infrastructure in place.

The Food and Drug Administration is delaying its approval of Moderna Inc.’s COVID-19 vaccine for teens to study whether the shot could increase the risk of a rare inflammatory heart condition, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The delay follows moves by Sweden and three other Nordic countries to limit or suspend using the Moderna jabs for people under 30, over concerns about the risks of myocarditis for younger men.
Researchers have found a link between rare cases of the heart condition in children and the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, both of which use a relatively new technology called mRNA.
The Journal said the FDA is taking another look at data on the risk of myocarditis among younger men, and is comparing the results for those who took Moderna’s vaccine, and those who got a Pfizer shot. So far, the regulators haven’t determined if either of the vaccines elevates the risk.

Mark Cuban somehow received a new asshole last night, in the form of a forced space-time gravitational anomaly on Twitter, created by the mass of people exposed to his retard takes on Spaces about Bitcoin.
Dude is NGMI.

Full disclosure: Took profits @ $61k. Putting it into a joint account for Rick and myself to buy toys and equipment for the ranch, as things start coming online, soon. Feel bad that all the corn I'm selling is going directly into my accounts (feel bad about needing to give Rick my financial login info to reconcile everything for this project...), and putting this batch into the joint account for ranch needs takes a fucktonne of stress off the both of us. Really don't want to draw down on our existing fiat investments to support the ranch. Will consider drawing down on those as needed, after the ranch is built and we're living out there full-time - 10 years ish.
Next sell target set for $75k, then $100k, then we sit back and re-evaluate our lives.
Gotta buy ourselves one of those jacked up monster pickup trucks that are capable of traversing the entire ranch to start... then a tractor... Oh God... it starts...

I'm honestly not sure what this affront to all that is good and decent in the world is, but I feel a violent compulsion to overhand throw him into low earth orbit. Good grief.
