Meanwhile, at Harvard Business School in Cambridge, Massachusetts... "Harvard Business School moved all first-year and some second-year MBA students to remote learning this week amid a “steady rise” in breakthrough Covid-19 infections, despite high vaccination rates and frequent testing.
Online classes will be in place at least until Oct. 3 and the school has asked students to eliminate unmasked activities while indoors, Harvard said Monday in an emailed statement. Harvard is also increasing the frequency of testing to three times a week.

From the WO thread. Some more thoughts on the pandemic.
As I see it, the initial panic surrounding this infection was because of the fact that everybody had the earlier MERS and SARS infections in fresh memory, and they were indeed very, very deadly.
When it was clear that this SARS variant was no more deadly than the Hong Kong flu the stone was already rolling down the mountain and it was to late to stop it.
Now everybody realizes that the world overreacted and countries are going back to normal, some fast and some slower, depending on how much face the politicians and advisers have to loose.
So was the initial panic wrong? No, I don't think so, if indeed it had turned out to be as deadly as earlier SARS and MERS it would have saved a lot of lives.
The error lies in not stopping the draconian measures when it was recognized to be just a flu.

So, plenty of chances to get infected soonish, while i'm not the type that would happily visit something like a "covid-party".
To offer some insight for casual observers of this thread, I'll repeat the small anecdote I made in the WO thread. It was pretty much what Rick and I expected. Rick had it worse than me, contracting a secondary lung infection that needed to be treated with antibiotics and HCQ. I'm a stubborn asshole and fought it off with my sour disposition, chicken soup, and about 10 days of solid bed rest. Rick had respiratory issues due to secondary infection, I had zero respiratory issues to speak of, and was genuinely surprised about that. I experienced more gastro/intestinal issues, in the form of cramping, pain, and uncontrolled flatulence. Rick lost his sense of taste and smell for a couple days, yet I experienced no loss of taste or smell. Our shared symptoms were notable body/muscle pains/aches in the weirdest places, extreme lethargy and weakness, and terrible headaches. Onset of symptoms was pretty amazing, and have never experienced something coming on so fast and so strong, that by the end of the day, you're asking if anyone got the number on the side of the freight-train that smeared you all over the tracks earlier in the day. Fever below 102F for the first three days. By day four, we had started the mend. By day 10, felt about 95% back to normal, but still tested positive. By day 14, I had tested negative, and was feeling well enough to leave the house alone and start running errands, catching up with life. Best we can tell, fully recovered with no ill after-effects to speak of, and back to doing normal retarded things. To sum it up, "It hits way harder than a cold or flu, coming on, but it's effectively a really bad cold or flu, that has a possibility of taking a bad turn and causing secondary inflammatory responses." |

I'm pretty fucking blackpilled (pardon the pun), but I can't go so far as to think they are legitimately putting microchip stuff in this gene therapy experiment.
This was too rushed across the board, with too many variables in play, across too many manufacturers, for it to be a mass-deployed operation, and be of any use to any group.
I'll humor the thought of maybe a couple select test batches may have had some chipped stuff for further experimentation, but with a small controlled test population as part of a larger testing effort for microchipping - part of a wider conspiracy?
Having gained natural immunity already, I recognize I'm a strange mutant wandering this wasteland, now.

I appreciate that, but don't worry about it for a rebalance. I didn't stop to consider that channel liquidity would get locked up in other channels, after redistributing the wumbo (~0.17 BTC) liquidity with LOOP. TBH, the only reason I established a wumbo channel with LOOP directly is to see what would happen, and, well, I guess I've now discovered what happens to all that liquidity - it just gets spread around to other channels that needed it. Might throw another coin onto it, but don't have a burning desire to expand out any further at the moment. Top 500 is good enough for me; just fucking around. I'll sleep on adding more coin or not in the morning... EDIT: Might experiment with a couple wumbo channels with LOOP, set some retarded fees that would be extremely lucrative for me, and will see what happens. EDIT2: ... in which case, might want to add my node to the exclusion list when submitting loop in/outs so as to avoid my high fees?
Hopefully, all will be fine and I'll still be alive ...
I don't want to split off too much into COVID-19 politics - It's funny how polarized I was prior to being infected, and now having undergone the experience and gained natural antibodies, I'm way more zen about things, and almost feel a sense of sincere fear for vaccinated folk. Not anything silly like "Oh, they are gon' shed some shit to me, or dey gon tink ima kill them with muh natural antibodies", but more specifically with Antibody-Depedent Enhancement ( https://www.chop.edu/centers-programs/vaccine-education-center/vaccine-safety/antibody-dependent-enhancement-and-vaccines ) I'm genuinely concerned that "vaccinated" folk may apparently be at higher risk for contracting mutations due to the trojan-horse effect. I hope this isn't the case, as many friends I know are immunized, and I wish them no ill will, and pray they do not suffer any ill side-effects. I am highly against people under the age of 21 being vaccinated, if I could wax political for a moment... |

If I am reading you right there are three possible scenarios.
1. The value you lost in that channel was exactly gained in another one (or ones) that is still open. *unless*---
2. You spent the amount you are now "missing". (In this case the value stops in someone ELSE's channel)
3. You channel partner broadcast an incorrect channel state and ripped you off.
Here's the close transaction from LOOP. https://mempool.space/tx/8c5f9bc17d9b81b64f9e81547c172fb9ba4fe9ecd98bd740023fc90ede7f2cc3I got 0.00190205 back. No idea what happened to the other 0.16586666. EDIT: Hmm. Just did all the math for the values on my node, and the accounting all adds up - after incurred fees - so I have to think that the liquidity is wrapped up in other channels that I'm linked to, pointing towards your Case 1 ? Kinda fucks with my flow, cuz now I need to add more coin to establish another wumbo with LOOP, or close some existing channels, which I don't want to do. I suppose I could throw another coin onto the node, but kinda already starting to feel a bit uncomfortable with not understanding what is going on with the piddly 3 BTC I'm playing with. |

... but yeah, about this Lightning stuff... So, I opened a "Wumbo" channel with LOOP. The channel got entirely drained from my side to their side. The channel was co-operatively closed, apparently.
My settled balance is WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY BELOW what I put into it.
Did LOOP just rob me of near 0.17 BTC?
