821  Other / Off-topic / Re: Homophobic (or racist) celebrities. on: March 24, 2014, 07:52:26 PM
Politicians are racists and homophobic all the time, yet people still vote for them, I'd say they still have careers for sure considering they somehow manage to keep getting re-elected.

That's a bit different with politicians. Although I believe they are same hypocrites who cater to whichever group they can, even if they do not believe it themselves. Imagine a white Texas republican giving out racial hate speeches, and then going home to his mexican wife.
It's strange how you can defend "family values, christian way of life, etc etc" to get voters in real life, but you cannot do that in movie or art industry. That's why everyone in the media is a democrat nowadays.

I'm genuinely interested - are there such people in the mainstream entertainment industry nowadays?

Because it looks to me, that everyone in hollywood and etc now cater to lgbt and multiculturalism agenda.

What agenda do they have and why do you seem to have a problem with it?
On the multiculturalism issue:
That it's ok to accept immigrants, and THEIR CULTURE. And it should BE FORCED to happen. Like a issuing an official ratio of white male percent ratio for government workplaces.
I do not have a problem with this stuff, because in my country there's almost no immigrants, and such policies, and etc.
But if we take, for example, Norway - it's a huge problem there. Due to HEAVY lobbying, or some other factors - country is flooding with immigrants, and they are strangely welcomed. There are tons of books about combining local cultures with these foreign ones. All sorts off initiatives. Movies coming out, where main heroine is wearing a hijab. Special classes in schools. Building of mosques. Children books and cartoons, having at least 2 black kids as characters.
I think this will bite them in the ass in the long run, they will die out as a nation, and will be replaced as a culture.

Similar stuff with lgbt movements - heavy lobbiyng. Children media flooding with this shit, even at the ages where sexuality is not yet a factor. Books about crossdressing boy? For kids of age 7? Wtf?
I could go on and on, with my personal opinions, but this is derailing from this "hollywood media / pop culture topic theme"

This is a silly topic in some ways.  Mel gibson did more then just call a cop a jew and that is why people boycotted his work but I don't care what he said it's his right and there right to boycott.

The real issue is a few people have to much power and control Hollywood and that is why celebs don't get work if they don't do as told and bend over and submit.

But why it's such a monopoly? If you have a loads of cash, you can make whichever movie you want with any actor you want? Because no one will advertise it, if they dislike it?
I would love to see some anti-israel movie for example, not because I'm a jew hating s.o.b. , but just for a different perspective. Or a movie which frowns on gays. Although no one will go to see it in American theaters, because it's considered unacceptable. I's awkward how once harsh and manly USA became so changed so fast.

I'm genuinely interested - are there such people in the mainstream entertainment industry nowadays?

Because it looks to me, that everyone in hollywood and etc now cater to lgbt and multiculturalism agenda. It's almost like you have to go through some cock sucking rite of passage if you want to become a succesful artist. Every musician now has a song or some special approach to gay consumers. If you look at random movie star wikipedia page, it will in 50% cases say "an lgbt rights supporter".

Imagine if, say, Jake Gyllenhal says that he loathes blacks or hates fags and this gets to media. Boom - your career is over. He will have to publicly suck a black dick holding his right hand on the bible and saying he is truly sorry, with his mouth full. And I do not believe that every celebrity out there is warm and fuzzy towards gays and other races, it's just they are forced into being hypocrites.

I can think of only one example, Mel Gibson calling some jew cop a jew. And look where it got him. With people boycotting his movies, even if they do not relate to jews in any way.

So. Are there any brave ones amongst celebrities, which are not afraid of speaking their mind?

It would have to drop at least below $400 for me to start panicking.

what's the difference between:

1100 and 600

1100 and 500

1100 and 400

824  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine... Revolution. on: March 23, 2014, 12:06:10 PM
The Kuban Cossacks, who led the revolts against Poland, absolutely hate the Ukrainian state - even though, for all intensive purposes, these Kuban Cossacks are Ukrainian (as noted per their culture and customs).

Kuban Cossacks don't hate Ukrainians. However, they hate those radical pro-EU types from Lviv and Ternopil.

These areas (Lviv, Ternopil.etc) were originally part of Poland which were merged with Ukraine after the WW2. So the Kuban Cossacks identify the people who are native to these areas with ethnic Poles, their arch rivals.

Which begs the question, why not organise a referendum there, the results of which will surely indicate the wish for reunification with Poland. And I think the official Poland will not be opposed to this (though I read some comments from the ordinary Poles, who are not too keen on the idea). Everyone will be happy - NATO, EU, Poland, Cossacks. The only ones who will be unhappy, are the ethnic Russians living in that Western region, but they are a minority there, so they'll have to either live with the results or migrate.

Why not just split the goddamn country into parts, and give them to neighboring countries?

My grandma was sent to Siberia as a child, for hard labor. Soviets took their homes. My grandma had her first child in cold, harsh Siberia.
Your grandma's ethnicity?

Latvian with some parts of Polish. She was only 12. Hard labor was mostly logging. Her future husband was a German civil guy sent to Siberia, a craftsman.

Hmmm. It would not be the first time US was covertly in favour of drugs:
http://rt.com/politics/drugs-sanctions-us-russia-329/
Also, the last US ambassador to SU makes a lot of sense in this interview:
http://www.truthdig.com/avbooth/item/former_ambassador_russia_responding_to_years_of_us_hostility_20140320
The world would have been a better place if people like he or Ron Paul were the US presidents, while people like Pozner - Russian presidents.

That's one of the biggest things which bother me. After US invasion Afghanistan has boosted it's drug production massively. When there were Taliban - drug production was much more limited.
I really hope that this is about money, and not about deliberately fucking over Russia and Europe.
Those poppy seeds should be dosed with napalm or chemicals. 80% of opium supply in the world? It's crazy!
And US argument is - people would be out of their jobs. WTF? APPALLING! They are working as death dealers now. Force them to grow potatoes instead.
I would even go so far as to offer to subsidize them for growing other stuff other than poppy, or for doing something completely different. And we could cover that with the budget money which goes on fighting drugs.

And yeah, Ron Paul even with his flaws, would look much better than Romney. Romney was such a joke, as if deliberately put there so Obama could win easily.
826  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine... Revolution. on: March 22, 2014, 12:29:57 AM
I may be biased, because ""Soviet Russia" seriously f'ed the hell out of my family, with father's side fighting for the White Army, and mother's side coming from a royal family that was subject to pogroms and exterminations. So, at least for me and my family, it was sorta personal.

I consider the foundation of Kievan Rus in ~800 AD to be the foundation of what is now Ukraine. No, Kievan Rus was not Russia. Yes, the territory was originally a bunch of tribes, but it was unified under Kievan Rus. Everything you mentioned from the foundation of Kievan Rus, until it's destruction by the tatars is right, but everything after 1150 AD is not.
The power in that area has shifted constantly after 1150 AD, but not because the people living in Ukraine became Polish or Russian or whatever. They were conquered and occupied by various countries (that tended to plunder their food and resources, and take them into slavery). They did not consider themselves to be a part of their occupying country.
At a certain point, Ukrainians tried to establish independence from the ever occupying forces by forming a self defense force and a paramilitary government, led by the cossacks. The people living there, regardless of being from different origins, did not want to be a part of Poland or Russia. Nor did they coonsider themselves just an "outskirts" of their occupying country.
Keep in mind, when some country invade a piece of land, that land already has its own people with their own identity living onit. Just because USSR occupied Ukraiine, does not mean Ukrainians considered themselves Soviets. Just as just because USA occupied Iraq, that didn't mean that Iraquis coonsidered themselves Americans. So, for a really long time, Ukraine and Ukrainians considered themselves their own people and country, up to the point where USSR took them over, and again since USSR broke apart.

My grandma was sent to Siberia as a child, for hard labor. Soviets took their homes. My grandma had her first child in cold, harsh Siberia. Yet I do not view russians as bad people. It's governments who are bad. And that government is  long gone. And USSR was not so bad as it's painted. You cannot have everyone happy. It's a balance, an often unfair one. You smirk about the possibility of human rights in USSR, but I'd say situation was the same in other countries, it's just they were better in creating an illusion of those rights. Same pressure, but in more elegant matter. Same propaganda machine. Same secret police, thought police, even.

And about Kievan Rus you are still partly wrong.
There was simply Ancient Rus who knows how long before 830 AD
Then in 860 Rurik came and took the throne
Then in 879 he dies, and his wingman Oleg moves for Kiev and in 882 ADDS IT TO THE ANCIENT RUS and REBRANDS the WHOLE THING as Kievan Rus
(it's like if Putin would tomorrow rebrand Russian Federation as Crimean Federation of Russia)
By that time there were no ukrainians, there was no such thing as Ukraine, there was no such self-identification amongst these people
It came much later on, with cossacks you mentioned (not specifically by that point, but still much later than 800,1000 or 1200 AD.

Finally about Crimea, when this mess started and local Crimean gov denounced new Kiev leadership, there were talks about Crimean independence, or at least increased authoritarian status. I rooted for that option. But to be blunt, I don't think they can survive on their own. They need water, gas, food, and plain money.
827  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine... Revolution. on: March 21, 2014, 08:25:47 PM
Are you shitting me? Do you have a degree in history? I know they say that "Rassah is pretty much posting in every thread out there", but this is the most ignorant BS post, I've read this week.

They? Who are these "they?"

I was born in Kiev, I have family in Lviv, I have friends in Kiev, including some who were helping out on Maidan, and I was going to a Saturday Ukrainian school from 6th to 12th grade (like Sunday School, but on Saturdays, and not religious). There I had classes on Ukrainian history, geography, culture, and literature, starting from the founding of Kiev, all the way to the slaughter of the last remaining Ukrainian cossacks at the beginning of the 20th century. For 6 years. So, yeah, I guess I have a high school degree in Ukrainian history.

It's from some older topics, when I was lurking more than posting, don't make me search for it. I think it was mostly about gay stuff with a grain of politics.

Anyway, I don't even know where to begin with you.

Basically: many years B.C - region was filled with different tribes
it's is a popular opinion that in about year ~500+ A.D. Kiev was mostly "polish"
power shifted constantly, with lots of different nations moving around
those nations were a different flavors of slavic, predecessors of polish, hungarians, slovenians and etc.
then, in about ~800+ A.D. a guy named Rurik came a long, a viking of sorts, and he took control of what you may call "russian lands" at that time, with it's capital Novgorod
then, after his death, ~850 A.D. his right hand man, named Oleg, took Kiev, and decided to move "russian" capital to Kiev
then, this "old russian kingdom" grew, under rule of Rurik's children and everyone prospered until a certain point
Kiev was a considered a capital, or at least an important political place, although "old russian kingdom" by that point consisted of many large parts, with complete autonomy and feuds between those parts
It all went to shit afterwards at about ~1250 A.D. after which region was raped by every other possible neighboring country, like Austria, Poland, Lithuania and many other

and the BEST PART is that there's was no such thing as UKRAINIAN PEOPLE for all that time
whole place was crawling with different peoples, and even nowadays should be considered much more than simply Russia vs Ukraine. It's a Austrian-Polish-Jewish-Lithuanian-Slovenian-Hungarian-Romanian-Russian-etc land, which suddenly decided to be Ukraine.
as you pointed out earlier ukraine means "outskirts of kievan rus"
this term was coined in about 1150A.D. and simply meant "further part of russia"

An idiotic analogy if I may:
If USA conquers Cuba, and decides that Havana is a new capital of USA. USA is therefore name "United States of America and some other islands like one which Havana is on", or USAH.
Then after 500 years after some infighting and civil wars throughout continent, Cuba splits away, taking Florida with it. USAH becomes "USA is formed Again, minus one state" or USAA.
We will not be able to say that Cuba is the mother of USAA, and should be treated a an equal, if not superior country.
828  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine... Revolution. on: March 21, 2014, 06:40:48 PM
then at the least you have to acknowledge that the "outskirts" it refers to are NOT "outskirts of russia" but "outskirts of Kievan Rus."

It's a bit weird that some here are even suggesting that Ukraine and Russia are the same country. Kievan Rus was founded 200 years before the founding of Russia, beginning with Moscow, even if it was by the same nobility. Since that time, throughout Ukraine's history there has been a very clear divide between Russia and Ukraine, to the point that Russia warred with Ukraine at one time, and asked for its help to fight against Poland at another. They are separate countries. So the idea that because Russia owned Ukraine under USSR, and Russia was founded from Ukraine, means that Russia should just take Ukraine back, is ridiculous.

Frankly, I think Kiev should have just kept their nukes, and then taken Russian territory back under Ukraine instead.

As for Crimea, it's rather ironic that some are using the word "unconstitutional" and "USSR" in the same sentence. I didn't realize soviet communists gave a shit about laws or rights. Crimea wasn't being "occupied" either. It was a redrawing of political boundaries within the same country, which made little difference, and the borders simply remained after USSR fell apart. Were Crimeans being abused by Ukraine? Does Crimea even have any economic value besides tourism and a naval base?

Are you shitting me? Do you have a degree in history? I know they say that "Rassah is pretty much posting in every thread out there", but this is the most ignorant BS post, I've read this week.

maybe vice versa? hiding Jupiter behind him?

Anyway, he can be a puppet/scapegoat for all we care. These cases of bitcoin frauds always center around one person, while there could be a whole ring of shady people involved.

Currently price is dropping because gox coins being dumped on the market.
No proof, just my opinion based on the price action.

Haha, maybe - but Karp has suddenly 'found' 200k coins he didn't know were there before.
Panic the supply isn't as limited as people thought? Gox loses coins, price goes down. Gox finds coins, price goes... down.

Who's to say he is not going to find another 200K tomorrow? There were no hints of stability in BTC world, and news such as these are not helping at all.

Until this point I was thinking that Visa and MasterCard are European and American companies. It turns out that actually it's American monopoly. This kinda sucks no? Because both of those companies discredited themselves today, and we do not have any alternative. Lets say that there are tensions between US and EU tomorrow - are there going to be similar sanctions? USA has to much saying in these matters, overvalued petrodollar and now this. Everyone should dump the dollar in favor of, if not bitcoin, then, let's say - Swiss francs.

Roll Eyes

Only thing to avoid except high temperature - high fan speeds. Most common issue with every gpu miner out there - is when the fan dies because of it's high usage. Not a big problem per se, but still a setback.
