@niko Thanks for posting this. I think you make some excellent points. I don't know much about these HW back-doors. Even though I try for best practices in security I never feel like it's impossible to be pwned.
I wonder about some of the new tiny form factor computers, are there any chipsets free of backdoors?

A .22 up close, two rounds directed at the occipital, can be plenty of firepower. But for self defense you are not likely to get into position for such a shot. When facing a potentially armed bad guy head on I would want at least 5Rnds. of .380.
Only murders kill someone with a .22, or perhaps assassins.

Oh, and i'm interested in good prices for .380 and 9mm.

how about "explosive oxidizer"? That way to avoid suspicion one could say something like "Hey man, can you sell me some explosive oxidizer?" ...wait, I may have to think more about this idea. Embarrassed

The argument "And it would be a stretch to believe some 3 letter agencies wouldnt have the keys." is an invalid FUD argument.

You honestly think the NSA or CIA wouldnt have asked intel to get access to say, laptop of Al Qaeda suspects or that intel would have said "No" ?
I do think thats a stretch.

BTW, even if intel said no, some hackers managed to crack older versions of VPro.

Agreed. Not a stretch at all. In fact it would surprise me if they did not have keys.

if they did not have the keys they should be shot for incompetence... the us govt pays for most of that work anyway.
Right. Their job is to have access to any and all information. Not to use it, but to be able to get it when/if needed.

You could just be less active, right?  In any case, you would always be welcomed back.  Smiley

I would participate. And I think it would make an interesting sociology paper. I have a friend who is a sociology professor. He was interested in it himself until I got into cryptography and foreign currency arbitrage. This is exactly what he looked like. --->  Huh

8368  Economy / Goods / Re: Enjoy smoking without butane, try Ital hemp wick on: June 06, 2012, 04:10:56 PM
Is wax soaked hemp better than butane? I thought butane produces only water and C02 after burning? Whatever, I still think it is kinda cool.

I would be digging this thread a lot more if I had paid attention in math. Undecided

Does anyone have a home FFL/Class 3 license? I am thinking about applying for it using the kit from http://www.ffl123.com/

Anyone have experience with this company?
I don't have one, but I'm also thinking about it. Could you let us know what you think of the kit if you get it?
8371  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should I vote for Walker in the imminent Wisconsin election? on: June 06, 2012, 01:43:22 PM
Walker has won fair and square. I don't care for his policies, but the people have spoken. No worries, being a rich white man means I will personally benefit from republicans being in power. Smiley
Not true. My family's industrial real estate has lost 75% of its value in Wisconsin. I would never start a business in Wisconsin.
I am just trying to make lemonade from the lemon we have as gov. It's not easy.
The real sad part is that he won by sheer spending power. That is the most important lesson. You CAN buy elections in America now.

Everybody loves anarchy until I shoot them in the gut, leave them for dead and take their wife as a slave. Then they are all like "Help! Police!".

I don't care if energy costs quadruple if that's what it takes to break our addiction to carbon fuel. Cold turkey is sometimes the only cure.
+1

I will be voting to send Walker home tomorrow. I wish I could vote to hang him. Yuck!

Why.  you work at say Sears hard all day you get paid squat.  Then these public sectors expect it all providing really nothing in return.  They retire in California and the 1st thing these public sector feces do is move to Idaho and Nevada to avoid taxes.  All the while taking home $200K a year in retirement, ripping off taxpayers loading up on overtime in the last 2 years they work.  If you love government so much, why are you on the bitcoin boards?
Why?... The republicans steal all our tax wealth by giving it to their political cronies and allowing them to avoid paying their own taxes. Then they see a public employee making a living wage and try to convince me they are the reason we are broke. Save it for the hillbillies on Fox news.
Voted!
8376  Other / Politics & Society / Re: still think internment/fema/concentration/re-education camps are fake ? on: June 05, 2012, 01:59:20 PM
My rescue squad is now getting inquires about our role in the ""re-education" camps.  Roll Eyes I wish they were real, most conspiracy theorists could use some education. Seriously, this is pure tin foil crackpot shit.
Is FEMA preparing for a disaster? They better F-ing be, or my tax money is going to waste.

You know I thought about that years ago. Then Katrina and other natural disasters came to pass and the gov made minimal efforts of help people.

So why dont they ever evacuate people in emergency areas to these FEMA camps or make use of them for the homeless ?

http://info.publicintelligence.net/USArmy-InternmentResettlement.pdf

Quote from: US Army
PSYOP personnel use comprehensive information, reorientation, and educational and vocational programs to prepare detainees and DCs for repatriation.

Read it in its entirety and read between the lines, and while you read, remember just who the government considers domestic terrorists.

They are preparing for those who refuse to OBEY.

They are our employees.

Then they might as well kill me now, as I would be the first to plant an IED.  Wink
As far as Katrina, your right, that was a fiasco. I got a call to drive to New Orleans, followed by a call to not go. It went back and forth a few times. Some rescuers said "screw this" and just went anyway. When they arrived they were assigned to a new "faith based" rescue unit that had never been deployed, had 0 equipment, and no training whatsoever. When a shipment of food and water arrived for the victims the faith squad drank and ate it. They had not even brought their own food and basically needed to be rescued themselves.
This what happens when GWBush appoints the president of the Arabian horse association to be in charge of FEMA. So if your concern is these people taking over the world, fear not. Their utter incompetence is protection enough.

8380  Economy / Economics / Re: Attention venture capitolists: Gearing up for crowdfunding on: June 01, 2012, 05:54:39 PM
I like GLBSE and what it means for the bitcoin economy. I see the new crowdfunding option as another way to diversify my holdings. I spread my risk over stocks and bonds, fine art, bitcoins, real estate, venture capitol funding, and any profitable commodity.   Hell, I would buy 10,000 pairs of socks if I thought the price was going up.  Wink
The thing I like about crowdfunding is that you are rewarded for your homework. The more I look into a company the more I am likely to make a good bet. When I see how profoundly mismanaged Wall St. funds are it makes me think I can beat them, as I have in the past.
