861  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PayPal Just Announced Plans to Launch a USD Stablecoin - Thoughts? on: September 29, 2023, 02:29:13 AM
News update and Paypal is not only going to attack the stablecoin market.

It was declared that NFTs are dead, however, why is Paypal filing patents for NFT trading and transfer? What I speculate is very clear for much of the people in the forum. What we have witnessed on 2017 with Cryptokitties and Cryptorocks were only the beginning. The bluechip NFTs might become native store of value assets for the cryptospace and DeFi with small marketcap NFTs fighting for their place to get the bluechip classification.

Digital payments giant PayPal has filed a patent application for a system that would enable the transfer and trading of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) within its network. The company’s application would allow users to buy and sell NFTs using fiat currency or other cryptocurrencies directly on PayPal’s platform. This move comes as the popularity of NFTs continues to grow, with more and more artists and creators using them to sell digital assets such as artwork and music. PayPal’s entry into the NFT market could make it easier for both buyers and sellers to use the technology.

862  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: September 28, 2023, 05:55:14 AM

For sure I don't want to body shame and with the recent Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury face-off Fury doesn't need such muscle because his skill and technique are more than enough in dealing with Francis Ngannou, and this is the 1st time for Ngannou in dealing a fight with boxing, for sure with all that body fats Tyson Fury is still confident in dealing with Francis Ngannou for sure,

So we have a new meme here, Maybe Ngannou is thinking Is this the guy that can knock me out and how come this guy is the heavyweight champion, If Ngannou carries this mindset he is in big trouble the moment he steps in the ring this flappy fat guy is going to knock him out, I hope Mike Tyson will give him a different mindset going through the fight remember he is a victim of an upset because he undermine his opponent.

Similar to what I have said before already, this will be the physical appearance of the man who will knockout the Predator Ngannou and put him on a stretcher to be pulled by Mike Tyson going to the hospital hehehe. I cannot support an MMA fighter to win against the best in boxing after witnessing Conor vs. Floyd. The feeling as a fan after watching the fight was similar to an ICO scam. The Gypsy King vs. The Predator will also be a similar feeling.

863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin recognized as digital currency in Shanghai on: September 28, 2023, 04:49:04 AM
I would like to witness this recommendation by their court become a precedent that would open the doors for bitcoin to be traded, mined and used openly in China. I was very bullish on the return of bitcoin in Shanghai before, however, the communist party of China might be a difficult challenge. They do not have an uncle Gary who we laugh on and make jokes. The communist party will kill people or imprison them in rural educational centers similar to Alibaba founder Jack Ma if they do not listen to the mysterious elders of the party.

Chinese man bidding in bitcoin auction

A recent Shanghai People’s Court announcement in China acknowledged Bitcoin as a unique digital currency despite the country’s official ban on cryptocurrencies.

In the article, the Shanghai court recognized Bitcoin as a distinctive digital currency, setting it apart from virtual counterparts like Q coins. It cited Bitcoin’s rarity, global acceptance, and inherent monetary qualities. This stands in contrast to China’s conventional classification of cryptocurrencies as speculative investments.

Regulatory bodies in China have prohibited cryptocurrency trading and mining. However, the court expressed the view that Bitcoin’s attributes make it challenging to ignore in legal contexts. When disputes arise regarding theft or ownership, the article suggests that Bitcoin can be considered personal property, acquired through purchase, mining, or inheritance.

This announcement builds upon a previous decision by a Shanghai court in May 2022 that also acknowledged Bitcoin’s legitimacy. At that time, a legal expert argued that China’s laws could indeed protect cryptocurrency holders despite the trading ban.

@Darker45. It certainly confirm our overextended and exaggerated speculation if CZ also sells Binance.us to another centralized trading platform in America and declare that they are out of the US market hehehe.

CZ was quoted in many articles on 2018-2019 that his longterm roadmap for his Binance was to become a decentralized organization without having an official headquarters or official offices.
865  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance exits Russia on: September 28, 2023, 02:12:42 AM
As the title says, Binance decided to withdraw from yet another market and this time is one of the bigger ones, Russian by selling it to CommEx exchange(which I don't think I ever heard before). This is not a big surrpise really as they announced possibility of that happening recently.

Binance has entered into an agreement to sell the entirety of its Russia business to CommEX. To ensure a smooth process for existing Russian users, the off-boarding process will take up to one year. All assets of existing Russian users are safe and securely protected.

There will be an orderly process for the migration of users. Binance and CommEX will partner to inform users how to migrate their assets to CommEX. A portion of Russian KYC’d new user registration will immediately be redirected to CommEX and will scale up over time. Over the next several months, Binance will sunset all exchange services and business lines in Russia. Every effort will be made to maintain a smooth user experience during this transition.

I am skeptical. I would not be shocked of there was a secret agreement between CZ and the new owner. This might be a new strategy for Binance to decentralize their operation and make it more difficult for regulators to crack them down or am I making an overextended assumption?

In any case, they have reopened their services in Belgium. They might have been given a license and an approval or did they find another ambiguity in Belgium's rules and regulations hehehe.
866  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: More Regulation Incoming! on: September 28, 2023, 01:29:34 AM
Uncle Gary is being very cautious in what he might say in this testimony because it might be taken as a precedent by lawmakers and judges that other cryptocoins could also be argued as commodities. Also, he declared that bitcoin can be a security according to the interpetation of other laws. This Gensler should not be underestimated. Bitcoin maximalists cheer for him when he said that everything except bitcoin is a security, however, if he can find an interpretation in the law that bitcoin is a security, he will do it.

I also speculate that he is a bagholder of a token. This might be causing his hatred on the cryptospace hehehe. Did everyone watch the video of him where he shilled Algorand? He said Uber could exist inside of Algorand hehehehehe.

During recent testimony before Congress, SEC Chair Gary Gensler reiterated his belief that Bitcoin is not a security but declined to state whether it is a commodity.

When asked by Congressman Patrick McHenry if he believes Bitcoin is a security, Gensler responded that he, SEC staff, and prior chairs have said it does not meet the Howey Test that defines securities under US law.

However, when McHenry followed up, asking if that meant Bitcoin was therefore a commodity, Gensler showed reluctance. He stated that Bitcoin is not a security but that “the test is otherwise for other laws” regarding its categorization.

During the testimony, McHenry also criticized SEC Chair Gary Gensler over his lack of transparency around interactions with collapsed crypto exchange FTX and its founder, Sam Bankman-Fried.

Amazing numbers put up by Miami (highest score since the 1960s) and fantasy points for this Achane guy:

To think I was mulling over the possibility of dropping him earlier this week... Glad I did not. I think he'll be seeing a lot more action after today's performance.

For tomorrow I have the Rams at +1.5 against the winless Bengals. The other game should be pretty good as well, but Eagles at -5 sounds a bit high, wouldn't take that bet.

I decided to lay off from betting last night as I just didn't really know how either game was going to go.  I came up 3 points shy in one my leagues being that Stafford had such as shit night.  I guess it really wasn't event that close being that the Rams didn't score right until the end there.

Losing Chubb has just destroyed all my hopes. Especially in the league losing Chubb but first Aaron Rodgers loss kill Garrett Wilson's value.

I am quite certain that Stafford will continue having low performances if Cooper Kupp does not return. It also appears that this news update is implying that he might not return. This selling of his mansion in Oregon for $3.5 million will pay for his long vacation away from the field hehehe. If there is a news update that he bought a yacht, I will drop Cooper Kupp hehehehe.

The Los Angeles Rams wide receiver, currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, just hoisted his four-acre Oregon home on the market, The Wall Street Journal first reported. Listed for $3.5 million, Kupp bought the Wilsonville property sight unseen for a cool $2.5 million back in 2020. The spread, which sits 30 minutes outside of Portland, includes a five-bedroom main house and an almost 2,000-square-foot guest house. The four-car garage is set up as a gym, and Kupp converted a barn into a training facility during the pandemic.

870  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin betting on the 2024 US Presidential Election on: September 27, 2023, 04:40:40 AM
It's an excuse to invade Mexico but I think the Mexican government is also not up to fight, they know it will only get worse if they fight the US military. But Gringos are welcome as long as they are also welcome in the country. Fair trade so let's just keep trading the fentanyl both our governments make money! Keeping this up, they will see the conquistadors ruling the entire country.

Why should Mexico stop doing something that is beneficial to them? The corrupt government officials and mafias inside Mexico are benefitting immensely from the migrant inflows. Illegal aliens, especially those who are outside the Americas are paying as much as $20,000 to $25,000 to the cartel members to get them across the border. And anyway, the root cause of this issue is weak law enforcement within the United States. Why should the Mexican administration take the blame for all the incompetence from the other side of the border?

I am not quite certain how the corrupt politicians in America make money from this, however, there might be some of them who welcome this type of situation to give them an argument to increase their budgets for the next budget hearings.

However, it appears this will become a crisis and mainstream media will make it certain that it will look like one if it does not become a crisis hehehe.

JUST IN: New York City is gearing up to pay over $1,000,000,000 on just hotels over the next 3 years to house illegal immigrants.

Good! That’s what happens when you call yourself a “Sanctuary City.”

But that’s just the hotel costs. NYC Mayor Eric Adams estimates the total cost of the migrant crisis will be about $12B over the next 3 years.

“We are past our breaking point,” he said. “With more than 57,300 individuals currently in our care on an average night, it amounts to $9.8 million a day. Almost $300 million a month and nearly $3.6 billion a year.”

Residents in NYC have had enough. In the video below, Staten Island locals were arrested for blocking migrant buses.

871  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bybit expects to exit UK market on: September 27, 2023, 04:03:15 AM
@Rikafip. Strict regulations might only cause an opposite effect for a jurisdiction instead of being a cryptohub.
Yeah I know, that why I emphasized that part that maybe "they" belive that stricter regulation will help them become crypto hub, while reality is different and it will only make crypto companies to stay away from them and instead choose Dubai that is a real crypto hub.

In a somewhat related news, big UK bank Chase decided to block all crypto related payments, confirming what we already know that atmosphere there is far from ideal for crypto enthusiasts.

Source https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2023/09/26/chase-uk-to-block-crypto-payments-citing-fraud-scams/

The skeptical me thinks this decision is the beginning of many to cause a cashflow shock on the cryptospace which will cause cryptocoins' prices to dump lower. There might be more announcements similar to this from other banks and in other jurisdictions this year. I think after this, they will implement strict regulations and AML rules to control how much inflows of fiat go to crypto.

I have always speculated that the government will support Tether and Circle to become their agents of control on how much inflows are allowed to enter the cryptospace.
872  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NFL Sportsbet.io discussion & predications thread rev on: September 27, 2023, 03:02:50 AM
@ralle14. Hehehe The Raiders suddenly became alive on the 4th quarter and have been very aggressive to get another touchdown and I am quite certain Jimmy G will try to get another 2 point conversion to have this game taken into overtime.

However, Jimmy G's offensive line are not doing a very good job in protecting him. The Steelers have 4 sacks on the Raiders already.
That was so sweaty I thought the Raiders could've taken the lead at different points of the match if it wasn't for their turnovers and almost forced an OT after getting the ball back in the last few minutes.

Then again, the Steelers defense did the heavy lifting for the second time with the stops and that clutch turnover at the end to seal the win.  Cheesy
The Steelers actually won that match 23-18 against the Raiders.
I was surprised when I checked all the scores for the weekend because somebody had a thread up with their betslip having Pittsburgh to win that match inorder to win a $214k ticket on a $2.49 bet. Which was the only game left deciding if the betslip was a winner or not.
@rohang remembers that thread because he had a response to it before the OP took it down.
Unbelievable if he didn't cash out as he was wanting too so to secure atleast $199k from it.

Was this the thread where the bettor was asking for $50k to help hedge his bet? If he took his own thread down, I speculate that he might have cashed out.

In any case, agreed. I wish he did not cash out and he did not find $50k to hedge the bet and went away to hide from his wife with the whole amount hehehe.
873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MicroStrategy Bought More BTC on: September 27, 2023, 02:38:05 AM
It seems like he buys every 2 months or so. From what I read he has like $600m left to purchase more. Most likely he will be buying around $75M every month until he depletes all those funds.

It’s crazy to think that after all this buying, he is still at a loss. This is why you should never DCA large portions near the top. I think he was in profit for a few days only this year before it again went below his average.

This might be because he might be the only whale who is presently buying bitcoin. If there were other whales and institutional investors joining him like cousin Elon or grandma Cathie Wood, we would certainly would have witnessed bitcoin pump to $40k already.

There are people in this thread who reckon that the dump after Saylor's announcement was a coincidence or it was time to sell the news, Saylor top signal. I disagree with these. Saylor is the only one buying with size. Saylor is the recent top creator of last week's top.
874  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bybit expects to exit UK market on: September 26, 2023, 04:43:21 AM
@Rikafip. Strict regulations might only cause an opposite effect for a jurisdiction instead of being a cryptohub. Developers of the cryptospace can always stay anonymous and develop their platforms with a token to help attract people and create a community. Yes I know that there are scammers who use this model to scam, however, this relationship with community, token, developers and platform will not change whether there is strict regulations or not.
875  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin betting on the 2024 US Presidential Election on: September 26, 2023, 03:10:00 AM
I don't think that anyone in this forum do have an issue with legal immigration. The issue is only with the illegal variety.

It's not illegal to request asylum.

It's not illegal to enter the country after requesting asylum while waiting for your court date.

This is how the vast majority of undocumented immigrants enter through the southern border.  It's easy to call them illegals because they aren't legal citizens, but what they're doing isn't illegal.

There are a lot of people out there who would claim that the illegals need to be shown humanity and regimes must tolerate them. But is this the right approach?

Yes.  Imo, human decency is the right approach.

Agree on human decency but I reckon in the present circumstances of their economy, it might be safe to assume that they need to be stricter on border controls? Much of the people who enter the country illegaly do not pay taxes and I am not trying to repeat racist arguments, however, they do get some job opportunities from legal immigrants.

Also, the Mexican cartel has made big business out of moving people across the border every year. They might be including their own members. I am quite certain that you would agree that this needs to be controlled.

In any case, Trump is leading against Biden in surveys and this is not because they speculate that Trump will be a good president. The people hate Biden and the Democrats.
876  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: SEC vs Binance on: September 26, 2023, 02:00:06 AM
@pawel7777. There is a few of them in social media, however, they always appear to hate CZ, KYC and centralized exchanges as a whole. I am not arguing that CZ is not a clown and a hustler but it is head scratching to witness them to want uncle Gary to be victorious in putting CZ in prison. This is also funny because this will not be good for the cryptospace. This will set another precedent that if target no.1 is finished, who will be target no.2 and 3? This might only be the beginning if CZ does not fight the lawsuits filed against him and Binance.
877  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MicroStrategy Bought More BTC on: September 26, 2023, 01:27:13 AM
Just reminding that these news should not be considered as a buying signal. Historically, BTC pretty often is going lower soon after massive Microstrategy purchase. It have pretty much no impact on the price in the momentum and only indicates that one of the major whales is becoming  bigger.

Admittedly, it is a coincidence that every time Microstrategy announces the purchase of more bitcoin, the market will continue to decline over the next few days.

However, it might not be a coincidence. I reckon in moments when the market has low activity, this is where Saylor begins to buy which causes small pumps on bitcoin.

I am also quite aware that this news is bullish but reality has shown that it might only be Saylor who was buying from $25k to $27k with size. After he stopped, the price declined.
878  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin miners energy usage has exceeded 50%, where is Elon? on: September 26, 2023, 12:42:09 AM
I might missunderstood OP, but I think this topic is more about calling out (and making fun of) Elon than begging him to accept bitcoin as he promised.

Correct hehehe. I replied with Elon's picture to express this, however, I am not quite certain why it was deleted by a moderator. Someone reported it, I reckon. Moderators much of the time are not very strict in the forum.

Also, this picture is very annoying which makes this also very funny hehehehe.

In any case, the hate on cousin Elon's appears to have started after his guest appearance on Saturday Night Live. If anyone has seen it, he clearly made it appear that our community is only made up of nerdy cryptobros and moonbois.
879  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: September 25, 2023, 05:17:17 AM
That's the gig with fantasy football injuries are brutal.  Even worse is when you land a bust and are stuck with high draft picks that decide not to produce.  I've had a brutal couple of years in this league lol.  Just not panning out, wierd how in some leagues you kill it and can't figure out how to break through in others.  Either way it looks like I might end up in a 0-3 hole this year while scoring a decent amount of points.

I am in a similar situation, however, I might get lucky on week 4 hehehe. Who is Eli-2 Brady-0? I reckon that my week vs. him will depend on Derrick Henry. If he performs similar to week 3 I will certainly have 0% chance of winning especially if Stefon Diggs or Olave has a better than expected week. Good luck to us for next game week!

Also, Massage Watson has a good performance, I wish this will continue. If it does, I will only need Cooper Kupp to get out of IR! The past update on his injury was 2 weeks. Is this no news is good news or no news implies out for the season?
880  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Updated] FTX on: September 25, 2023, 04:36:31 AM
There are people in social media who are spreading rumors that Sam's father was part of an advisory board of the Democratic Party's dark money network. Also according to them it was mentioned in FTX's lawsuit. There were no sources presented, however. It might only be fud.

But what does have a source is according to this, Sam Tabasco's yacht was bought using customer deposits hehehe.
