I think he is from Korea.

What makes you think that?

I have no flippin idea, to be honest. He didn't really leave behind many clues.
902  Other / Meta / Re: Neg trust? on: July 27, 2014, 11:52:49 AM
Hey guys some user that rages for I dont know what reason decide to put me a bad rating saying it was a risk of 20 btc. I have never trades on bitcoin talk. How can this be removed?
It cannot be removed, however if the person sending the neg trust is not on the default trust list then most people will never see it because non-default trust is hidden by default (for good reason).

I think people tend to look at untrusted feedback when entering into any sort of transaction. You'd hope that people would be reasonable about this sort thing, considering how the trust system is set up.... but to be honest, the trust system deters me from leaving negative trust for anyone for this very reason.

Well just think if there was no such thing as school or education. Do you think anyone would be qualified for today's jobs that require a shit ton of education? If you needed surgery, would you want a random guy on the street to perform it on you? There's definitely a need to qualify people for certain jobs through education.

Certainly -- there is some level of specialization that we want to see. I think the issue for many is more so the culture of everybody going to college, which means most people pursue non-specialized liberal arts degrees. I can understand from that perspective a bit more.

I think Scratch Ticket is the best signature campaign for newbie an Jr. Member. It pay too little but still IT IS PAYING

I guess it depends how much you plan to post. In theory, 777 would net you more. But I can see the incentive in going for the up front payment from Scratch Ticket too, especially if planning to only do the minimum required posts.
906  Economy / Services / Re: Signature 0.1 BTC 50+ posts per month [ANONYMITY.Co.in] on: July 20, 2014, 08:30:44 AM
I see senior/hero members are still being accepted. Is it possible to reserve a spot? My current campaign is ending in a day or two (not sure when I can remove the signature exactly) -- I can start after that. Cheers! Smiley

so, i have a couple questions about the signature area and selling it. i know that i have to be a jr member to do it and the higher the rank the more the pay, but what else is there to it? also, what are the best ones to sell your space to? thanks for the help.

Here [1] is an overview. Besides that: dont spam, keep it constructive.

i could essentially still do it as a newbie with 777? is there a contract or something or can i drop that for a new one when the time comes? thanks by the way

Keep an eye on that overview page. Roll.in I think is starting a campaign soon, sometime after the 25th. You can do 777 as a newbie, but it is very low paying. When the time comes, you can drop it, sure, but I'd finish your weekly run first.

Hello,
I dont get it. Price at Bitstamp is always like 10+$ more then BTC-E. If you buy from BTC-E and sell on Bitstamp even with the taxes is profitable. Right now the price of BTC is around 620-630 for a long time. Isnt that going to be really profitable if you do this a lot of times doing the same and the same again. Buy from BTC-E sell to Bitstamp, withdraw USD from Bitstamp and Deposit to BTC-E?

Inter-exchange arbitrage is a waste of time and sometimes money 98% of the time. Inter-market arbitrage is where it is at.

A dumb question to I`m new at this, whats inter-market arbitrage?

So like you can buy BTC using one currency, and sell instantly within a BTC market for another currency. Some of the non-dollar BTC and LTC markets on BTC-E have thin order books, that means that you can set a low buy order and occasionally people will dump into it. Meanwhile the price is still strong in the dollar market so you can get huge returns instantly.

Occasionally, people will dump into it, sure. But they are very low volume markets. You may be stuck in another fiat currency you do not want, in an illiquid market, when BTC makes a big move.

In any case, no one would risk using an "honest" mixer. The fact that they have a policy that enables them to, unto themselves, confiscate and redistribute deposited money based on a (quite possibly arbitrary) link to a theft, would scare any "honest" customers away. Even those uninterested in laundering money have no incentive to risk having their coins arbitrarily stolen by the "honest" mixer.

If you give me a $100 bill and I give you back $100 in change in smaller bills have I committed a crime?

If, after you are long gone I find out that the $100 bill you gave me was stolen have I committed a crime and am I obligate to return the $100 bill to the injured party?

Is it my responsibility to get AML and KYC information from every random stranger that asks me for change?  If I don't is it a crime?

That is what a mixer does:  makes change.  It takes in fungible BTC and returns fungible BTC.

After the mixer made change for the thief the thief still had the stolen money.  Yes they were different UTXOs but he is still guilty and he still has the money.

The mixer has done nothing wrong.  The mixer is not obligated to keep customer records.  The mixer simply makes change.

Unless you don't think BTC are fungible?

If you are in that camp then those of us that do believe it is fungible will fight you to the death of Bitcoin.  Because if you win and Bitcoins are not fungible then they becomes just curious collectible cryptographic anomolies and the entire Bitcoin concept will die.

Those of us that are looking for an altenative to the current government/bank issued toilet paper will all move on to an alt that is fungible by design because it automatically mixes all coins in all transactions in every block in order to avoid this entire conversation.

Bingo. If you want some reversible payment system centered around government authority and laws, you may want to look elsewhere than bitcoin.

I prefer my bitcoins to be fungible.

I don think bitmixer will release any info unless the department want from them

else it will just broke thier business .

I don't think anyone else would look at bitmixer any differently if they gave up those details.  They are doing the right thing in this instance.

Really? I'd certainly campaign for users to boycott them. WTF is the point of mixers if the community is going to arbitrarily decide when mixers ought to betray the trust of their customers?

This is a much bigger question than just saying, "just this one time." You are either for privacy, or against it when it doesn't suit you. Pick one. If the latter, then just denounce the very premise of mixers already.

Most people satisfy rather than optimize.  If the water is fine here, why should I swim over there?  All the positive news is great preparation, but the next bubble won't happen without a kick -- some negative news in the fiat world -- that drives people to switch.

I'm not sure we need news to start anything. I tend to fall into the "price follows price" camp. There's so much money waiting to buy in right now, waiting for whales to show that the bottom is in. But I'm also not convinced that the time for bubble is now. Smiley

What's with Huobi/Okcoin charts on Wisdom being so screwy/laggy lately? And now Tradingview charts have gone down several hours multiple times in the past couple days.
915  Economy / Speculation / Re: This Bitfinex Credit Bubble cannot end well on: July 16, 2014, 04:53:05 AM
However, some members have checked the Hong-Kong registry before the information was deleted. It doesn't seem proper to publish it, but I wonder if someone is willing to share it in a PM?

What's the problem with publishing it exactly? If it was public information, I don't see why it would be an issue. In fact, I'm not sure why they would delete it. I know when I search dissolved/suspended corporations in my work, the records are retained. Out of curiosity, what are you looking for?

"Effectively insured." No, they do not guarantee lenders a damn thing. And do the math, 15% insurance off swap fees vs. actual swaps....
917  Economy / Services / Re: [Coins Source] *Signature Promotion* Promote Something Positive - Bitcoin & SRCC on: July 16, 2014, 12:49:51 AM
I'd say it's a good bet that there will be some downward volume. Since I'd expect about 8,000 SRCC to be payed out, and a large portion would be exchanged pretty quickly.

There is a large volume that will be payed out soon, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a drop.

Yep, but if it were me, being paid in SourceCoin, I'd honestly just hold and wait for a doubling at the very least. Hell, I'd just wait for the next BTC bubble -- alts are bound to shoot up (even if they drop first).

While I understand the desire to end the shenanigans and recover most of the property as quickly as possible, what kind of message would it send to others to reward the looter with 10%?

What do you expect? Take a walk in Klee's shoes, and ask yourself what you might be able to live with. I assure you, standing ground on principles is not the top priority here.

It's like when kidnappers make a ransom demand and you're supposed to answer, "we don't negotiate." Right.... Roll Eyes
919  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: day trading - what's the catch? on: July 15, 2014, 07:27:19 PM
I suggest with bitcoin, trading larger cycles, and not day trading. Wink

how do you mean?

Instead of trying to profit from the <5% fluctuations that happen in the span of a few days, trade on large time-scales; ie. buy now and sell when the price is at 800$, then buy back at 600$, etc. This is less risky, since it depends less on luck.

I think that's what he meant.

that's actually common sense, not day-trading I think Cheesy

Just depends what kind of trader you are. Some are very experienced trading single waves/sub-waves, and so are more inclined to make several trades in a day.
920  Economy / Services / Re: [Coins Source] *Signature Promotion* Promote Something Positive - Bitcoin & SRCC on: July 15, 2014, 07:21:25 PM

That's it. I wouldn't worry about the rates though, as look at that volume. The promo here and the stakes giveaway can't support that price at any real volume yet. Hopefully if the coin gets on other exchanges and if some use is added to the coin, it'd support a higher price.

Yes, I suspect that when signature payouts happen, we could see some downward pressure on price. But it's hard to say for sure.
