921  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A more scientific mindset is necessary to avoid scams. on: October 28, 2023, 08:26:38 AM
It's funny that you mention first about scientific mindset, then me showing evidence (scientific) that that very thinking and training actually doesn't make you less vulnerable (in fact quite the opposite) gets you saying you distrust peer-reviewed work.

You're right though I agree, we should be skeptical towards everything but I think sometimes educated and crypto people think too highly of themselves, and can't even consider the possibility that they could be scam victims. Further blinded by greed they fall into traps.

I think if you use crypto without that underlying desire to make money, that, rather than the scientific mindset, is what avoids scams as all scams target greed.

Quite interesting, I didn't read the articles that you shared, you just gave names and not any links and I didn't want  to go search for them so I assume that you are right. But scientific and "smart" doesn't really sound like they are the same things.

One of the examples you gave says "young educated", what is the education? Are we talking about engineers from MIT or are we talking about "English literature from Ohio state" because those are different stuff,

Please look at my post again. I linked both studies that I cited (But if you had Googled them they would be very easy to find).

Look, the point is not to argue about being precise about what kind of degree makes you likely to get scammed, if Stanford did the research you must assume they have high standards for maximizing objectivity.

and just because one is considered "educated" just because they went through the education system, doesn't mean they know scientific method, as in checking the proof, most didn't even studied anything related to science, what if they studied arts? And the other is just least expected, so not even talking about education there.

Dude this is why you need to read before commenting. The definition being cited exactly means those who got a degree.

The point, which seems to be lost for most people commenting, is that educated people think because of their education (which requires them to study with scientific mindset right?Huh), they won't get scammed but this exact thinking gets them scammed. You did a degree? Doesn't matter arts, which I did. You know to do dissertation, you must use quantitative or qualitative methods. Arts and humanities use a lot of qualitative research. It's STILL a scientific method!

It's funny, all the nonsense arguments about definition etc and everybody missed the point that people in crypto get scammed and mainly because they think they're too clever to be scammed.

You guys can;t blame me for tryng again right? Imagine if it hit, then I only need to bet every round on 1.2 to get 12 points every round. Terrible choice, I survived but I have to really think hard about what to do. The thing is in my betting strategy, I always end up losing in the long run going safe. Lately, I switched to buway betting strategy and it is magic. Now I'm trying it in Pot B and yes zero points now but it must not deter you.

Same as Igebotz I'm very surprised buway is not advising like he bets. Why ruin a good strat??

Pool A is so so tight, anybody can go top next week but jeremypwr managed to keep his first place after last night games.
I'm actually in 10th place.  Wink

Ops yes so you are. It's weird I thought I saw you in 1 when I was checking. Minus one zero and you're 1 Wink
923  Economy / Speculation / Re: 127% Up from Bottom in 2022 on: October 27, 2023, 02:27:22 PM
I almost forgot how long it's been since the bottom was reached until I came across this thread title Smiley Thank you for the upbeat and positive reminder. The painful "prediction" for me this year & 2024 though is if whether that was the bottom of this whole cycle because all other cycle bottoms drop to around 15% of ATH... while this one was above 20%. Are we seeing another big dump first before new bull? Is it something to affect how we hold? Smiley
Lol, it seems that you have a short memory, but for us it is still fresh from November last year as we have to endure the FTX collapse news and how it put a dent on the market. But looking it, sometimes it's better to see that happening in our market. I mean, we don't pray that we see black swan event like this one. But it shakes the market and what's let is those investors who what we wall the diamond hand.

I'm not sure if we will see a big dump though, I mean it's almost the end of the year now and investors are looking for the block halving next year. So we might see pre-halving at $50k. So as others said, just continue to accumulate and see how it goes in the next bull run for us.

Rather, my memory doesn't really feel like it depends on any particular BTC price. I know people get all excited or all depressed at certain prices but for me I actually feel quite happy in low deals since I just actually practise DCA.

The cheaper, the better, I never worry. November you mention seems even more recent than I remember so I'm definitely not affected by FTX lol. I remember Luna nonsense first, and then the next 6 months of drama were just to me like expected telenovela.

You're correct dump doesn't look possible now but remember, last big mega dump was 2 or 3 months before halving, IIRC

Nice article Trofo, I agree Division 3 LFC match is the one to pay attention to, buway-cls derby had an unexpected ending or rather had not even a chance to start lol.

I seldom check news on sportsbet but must try!

Phew, after that loss in the 1st round I thought that Div 1 is hard. This will be a walk in the park.

Lol I'm beginning to really think now that Div1 is too hard for me. I relegated, promoted, and now lost first game and doesn't look very good in this game either. I got Real right but the Over made me lost sigh.

jayce has 3 different answers, Spurs, Barca, Fortaleza. We both have Liquid-Spirit, so we for sure think alike in DOTA! Advantage is him. He only needs 1 point to guarantee not a loss.

slaman29-You have made a claim, so where is your scientific evidence to back up this claim?

My claims are very very well documented. I'm surprised wanting to discuss the topic you don't know this (thus proving my claim that educated and academics are not foolproof).

Here are some research based evidence that any village guy can google:
-That is fair enough. Although there may be some confounding variable that explains why the educated are more likely to be scammed. On the other hand, academic institutions have taught me to distrust them very much because they are so unprofessional, so I would not be too surprised if the chlurmcks who have graduated from these institutions are too inept to avoid scams. Maybe this means that educated people should humble themselves and acknowledge that they are not immune to scams and they also need to apply a scientific mindset to determining what to invest in. Are the people with science degrees more or less likely to be scammed than those with liberal arts degrees? What about those with business and marketing degrees?

It's funny that you mention first about scientific mindset, then me showing evidence (scientific) that that very thinking and training actually doesn't make you less vulnerable (in fact quite the opposite) gets you saying you distrust peer-reviewed work.

More NFTs? I thought that was over already Smiley

Yup! I never thought that they are still some that were into these NFTs that I had dropped most of my NFTs that were free because they were now useless, maybe I haven't opened my wallet since then, but yeah I think I would look my NFT if they eventually have a value now,

I think even the biggest and most expensive nfts proved that they were pointlessly high because only a few people would buy them and these were all guys who had a lot of money or gambled to try flip. Didn't work anymore:) So F1 seems like one of the last few places to advertise since rich guys are there and looking for status symbols Smiley

Man, even myself didn't believe Onana able to save that Shocked That match was much better than 2019 UCL final LOL

Good luck bud, hope the games tonight would be more interesting!

These kinds of days I definitely wish I lived somewhere in Europe so I could watch football live every day Smiley But even the highlights were great tbh and loads of fun.

I finally got my point thanks to PSG scoring all 3 goals, that was a really tricky one and I expected 2-1 not such a onesided time!

Strengths/Weaknesses: Strengths - I can chuck down good chunk of beers ! Weaknesses- Chicks !

All of us have this same weakness lol whether we like it or not, at least you get chicks. Nice funny profile my favorite. Where are you from?

Pool A is so so tight, anybody can go top next week but jeremypwr managed to keep his first place after last night games. At least those of us below half table still have a lot of chances.

slaman29 still decides to risk it, not what I expected. With his total I would have gone with some safer choices. If he keeps on betting on United to lose, he'll eventually hit one of these big odds again Grin

Hey can you blame me lol to be honest I was totally thinking for semi safe points to put 8 stakes on Atletico as they are the best playing team in La Liga even though Real Madrid win I say reliance on Bellingham and me Barca too much on youngsters but Atletico the most rounded.

If I did that, I would still get 0 points Tongue

Barclays: young educated most likely to fall for scams.

FINRA & Stanford: People who never expected to be scammed often are scammed and are among the most vulnerable. Yes, that means most of us, who think we are so clever, are most likely to get scammed lol People ask me why I am so skeptical and expect scams, this is why.

Because he could have made it if there was even one more lap. But instead he got disqualified. I guess that they complained to FIA already but I wouldn't expect the decision to change.

Now we are in another race week indeed. Mexico is home country for Perez but I doubt him a lot anyway. I doubt him but I still continue to add him into my podium picks though.   Grin

In fact, according to what I read, if the team didn't make that blunder/error, not only they wouldn't have caused Hamilton to be disqualified, he would have found the race easier to complete and even won it.

So they actually admitted this and so I don't think any amount of complaining can help them now.

The result defeated me too, I thought I got back to 2nd position but now went back down to 3rd.

Man I am getting furst season vibes all over again. Lost the first round already to Harkored and now 0/2 for the first 2 games. Seriously, Copenhagen should have scored the penalty, and Sevilla should have drawn too and I wouldn't be complaining lol

I have to observe however after last night, I believe the goalfests are slowing down so I do feel comfortable with 3 goals in PSG question so I hope I get that to draw with jayce heading into next question.
937  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏆Rollbit.com | Champions League Pool | $11,000+ in Prizes ⚽️ Discussion Thread on: October 25, 2023, 06:17:27 AM
If slaman29 were to play risky in the superbru pool, he will lose in the end. But if he does it in the odds-based pool, two lucky hits could be enough to win the entire group stage.

That's right, which is why I need 2 more lucky hits but 5 more rounds I don't mind trying again lol

It seems he is still using the same strat on the odds based pool. 7 points stake on Copenhagen to win by Slaman, thats over 55 nasty points if Copenhagen actually ended up winning

From what I read Copenhagen had more shots on goal than United in first half, too bad for me.

Turkish teams can get unexpected results with the support of their fans when they play home. Galatasaray had an impressive win against Real Madrid in the past years. When we look at the statistics this evening as well I think that Galatasaray were the side that deserved the win. As I said earlier as well they were quite problematic in terms of finishing.

Yes it was away where they never beat any team in England and yet they did now and lost at home. So far no upsets at all in Champions League this half way of Round 3, which is bad for guys like me Tongue
938  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀-Sportsbet.io-🚀 Official Partner of Newcastle United Football Club on: October 24, 2023, 01:30:34 PM
Going to switch to lower odds, like about 10.00 or so, for a change.

Don't be tempted lol especially for freebets it's kinda pointless to do anything lower than 2x, since you don't get stake back but don't lose hope so soon with these big odds.

I started also recently using bigger odds and it was tough to keep losing but if you hit a few streaks wins it's super worth it Smiley
939  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My little research. on: October 24, 2023, 12:04:16 PM
You do not need to incorperate Bitcoin payment into your business at this level since you said its a "little business", the volatility that goes with the cryptocurrencies has no regards for what level of business you are currently running, it can make you fortunate and can also go north, depending on what the market presents.

I mean, SMEs and freelancers can simply put a QR code or even a wallet address just to enable Bitcoin payments. Why need for payment processor? It's going to convert everything to fiat anyway.

If you want crypto payments pointless to force crypto users to pay high fees for using processor when it's cheaper + secure to send to your wallet direct!

Who needs BTC price tracker when you have freeroll plays at FBC right?

Nice to see the winner finally located. Small lol he got ignored before Wink
