Good with luck yours and biffa's will arrive today.

Customs and VAT paid on mine tonight, had to wait to get a letter in the post from ye ole antiquated poste office over here, then I could pay it online.

Won't get it till end of next week now, as its public holidays here till Tuesday. Not your fault though Phil, so don't hold up the next group buy on my behalf, you're all good to go imho.

For cgminer 4.8 you need to install firmware 2.6.4 on an sp31, it will not show a change to cgminer until you change the ExtraFlag setting to 2 for extranone and restart, then it switches over to cgminer 4.8

Well I sent mine to a hosting provider, but I sent them the firewall and told them what to do Smiley

you hv miners hosted at Li Hosting did you install any firewall over there?
if there are firewall installed for us to tunnel in to take full control on our hosted miners that will make my life much easier

Not there no. Thats cowboy mining at its best. No I am talking about my Spondoolies farm in the US

It wont be a backdoor unless you leave your router wide open as well. Still, passwd doesnt work?
If you run them at home, yes.

If you run them in ANY data centre, all your Bitmain hardware is accessible and changeable by anyone else who has access to or has hardware in the same data centre.
They don't even need to login to it, they can just send API commands to it and it will accept ANY API command since they configure them to do that (even after years of me pointing out that they shouldn't)
e

You can set it up safely in a DC, my kit runs through a firewall that NAT's out to the internet in the datacentre. The miners are not on the datacentres network switch fabric directly. Not that I have S7's in my rack but even if they were they would be as safe as if they were in a DMZ at home.

Yeah but most people hosting are just sending equipment to a hosting provider and letting them do all of the work, that's where the problem comes in.  Its a bit different when you set it up yourself Smiley

@biffa
Shipped via usps priority express.
I owe a postage refund to you.
I want to do a rant on the U.S. Post office.
But the simple explanation is I was unable to send it global express.
Even though the website said the two closest post offices to my home would let me sent it global express the first post office said we do not have any forms.  They have not been shipped to us.
So I drove the the second post office and while they have forms the computer system said sorry only
Priority express for tue.
At this point I said okay. It was about 90 used cheaper.
It is very well packed and has been fully tested.

phil please keep the refund for your trouble.

Whats more important is the ASIC stats, that will tell you if individual boards or chips are overheating.

TBH you are pretty much spot on for a SP31, I've not seen many that run more than 1-200GH/s faster than that and you are within spec (4.9 +/- 10%)

I'd stick with what you have if its stable and has low error counts at the pool, you might get up to 4.5TH with tweaks but end up with higher errors.

If you want to try squeezing a bit more out of it just up the Max voltage slowly at 0.005V at a time and see how it impacts performance

Always checking the ASIC stats page, once the chips hit 125ºC they will automatically throttle back.

Phil you have run these before right? How do they compare to say running a SP20 from a power/heat perspective?

Just deciding whether to get get 2 or 1 to replace my two SP20

I would love one of these beasts in my apartment. Your price is also fair for the hashrate and PSU built in.

Anyway to undervolt/underclock these things so they are as quiet as an Antminer S3?

You can certainly underclock and undervolt them, and you can turn down the fans, but I've never heard one in person so couldn't comment on whether it would be as quiet as a S3.

I sorta maybe doubt it, the fans on these are pretty small and loud.

I looked at some photos of the settings and there is a way to limit the power from each PSU at 500W, so wonder if running it at 1000W instead of 2600W would make it quieter. Too bad you don't have these with you physically, so you could of checked.

But anyways good luck with sale.

Actually you can also control the fan speed in the settings. I'm sure if you google it you can find some video on youtube to hear the noise of these things. But you just need to bear in mind they are designed to be rackmounted in a datacenter where noise isn't an issue so they didn't design them for running in someones bedroom Smiley
